This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.
If
you have recently experienced a
frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe
you might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Please
feel free to share your story on almost
any topic— including poor experiences with
purchases & orders, promotions/ offers,
in-store visits, transactions with store
associates, etc.
Not a vent: love the 50% off promo. Living in a different time zone I’m able to check the website when it’s newly updated. Some great scores this morning !
ReplyDeleteLove the promo if they hadn’t raised their prices too! I just checked the prices for my last few orders and there were better deals with some items at the lower promos.
ReplyDeleteSneaky JC with the pricing games!
Fleur- what did you pick up?
@eeps I picked up the cropped sweater cardigan in black (they’re so good, I have them in red, navy and white/navy stripe). Reordered the silk wrap blazer in navy and the linen bermuda in iced lilac (ordered them originally with 30% off. I’ll be stateside next week and as I’m picking them up in store I’ll just return my earlier order). Might revisit the website again today ;-))
DeleteI have the cropped cardigan in white/navy too and love it!
DeleteNot a vent - I received the sleeveless denim mini dress last night and it is a huge win. Old school J Crew quality! The fit is very good, the fabric is nice and thick, the seams and darts are great, and the snaps are not cheap. It is as you would expect a thick denim vest (a weakness of mine), in dress form. I read reviews this ran small and I have a bubble butt so I was not sure on sizing. I first snagged a size 2 because that was what popped back, but I didn't have high hopes it would fit. The 2 arrived last night and I love it. Even the length is great on my 5'4" body. I intend to try the 0 on and compare, but I think it will be too tight on my behind. The 2 did leave a little room in the bust and waist area but I think that will be more comfortable, due to the nature of the fabric, and that I'm just used to a tighter fit in my dresses. It's pieces like this that keep me going with you, J. Crew!! :) Hopefully this helps somebody, there are several sizes available now.
ReplyDeleteI was up with my stomach in the night, and ordered the leopard Cora slides up a full size (11) since the 10.5 barely fit. $13.50 at like 2am. Now they are $56, which is $28 at discount. So I caught the magic hour between updating the sale and raising the prices! I was not totally crazy about them, but at $13.50 they may grow on me. If the cross strap leopard sandals (price adjusted to $16) do not fit, I will keep them for sure.
ReplyDeleteI also selected a pair of light weight 484 cords for my husband and a lavender merino sweater at great prices.
I called for a graciously given price adjustment on my prior sale purchases. Very nice.
now that's a bargain!!
DeleteTying not to get sucked in like I did last time the 50% was offered and I returned 3/4 of what I bought. Since they increased some prices the deals aren’t that good. I have the western denim shirt in my cart and the cashmere color block long cardigan. Still debating as I really don’t need the cardigan. Going to email for a price adjustment on the liberty shirts I ordered last Friday too.
ReplyDelete@JessF love the color block cardigan and like you I don’t really need it;-) But then again, it’s such a classic cardigan, long cardigans are so flattering and it’s cashmere . Might cave yet ;-))
Delete@fleur I already have a long cashmere cardigan in navy from BR and a long wool gray one I bought years ago from Anthropologie. I think I could justify the gray as it is a different shade and style. January and July are historically the worst for me spend wise with all the clearance sales and I am really trying to be good. Such tough decisions! Lol!
Delete@JessF I feel you, same here. Have to admit I ordered the color block cardigan in navy (hangs head in shame)
DeleteI too brought the Leopard Cora's for $13 this morning. (Returning from order 2weeks ago at $54) The pricing games are silly & I actually feel for JCrew. It would be interesting to see data on their purchase/return rate, I'm betting its sky high and my returns contribute a large % to the analysis. Oh and BTW free shipping on CrewCuts, gone!
ReplyDeleteOh you are not the only one with large # of returns, I'm currently running about 50% I'm afraid. They can go to final sale if they want to stop the returns...
DeleteDid you have to size up on the Cora's? I went up to 10.5 (I am 9.5 to 10) and they just barely fit. Hoping the 11 will be better. I think sandals where your heels are right on the edge don't look right.
I have returned 70%....its terrible. I am stopping now. no 50% off sale order for me. called and got PA'S for the last few orders....I am stopping now and waiting for new rollout.
DeleteI have a tremendous amount to return...and I work there!
DeleteMy return rate is 58% for June. Worse than my return rate for Jun 2017 - 43% (I track on a spreadsheet). My rate for return on average this year is about 55%. That's not terrible... they're still making money on the 45% that I've kept!
DeleteSad to hear that free shipping on crewcuts is gone as I order often enough. I find the prices pretty high for kids clothes (cdn $) so the free shipping helped. I likely won’t order crewcuts unless there’s a free ship promo happening at the time.
DeleteFYI....CS told me today when I called to see why only two of the four items I ordered had shipped ....they no longer send the "sorry we wished we had enough" email. it is only when you call they will tell you. The confirmation of shippping emails to Canada have been taking 3-4 days. just something to be aware of..
ReplyDeleteActually I got an email from a CS last night when something I ordered hasn’t shipped in its window. So strange? Maybe the difference between Canadian and US CS?
Deletefigures.. CS says one thing or another at any given time.
DeleteTwo things...
ReplyDeleteI got the Cora in black and leopard in my larger size 7. The Black were tight but the leopard were great. Kept the leopard. Honestly at $25 or less they’re a phenomenal deal if you can find your size.
My vent for today is the lecture I get on their “in stock” items when I call stores to find an item that’s sold out online. Most stores will tell me that if it’s sold out online then it’s also sold out in stores but I know from experience this isn’t true. I can often go into my own B&M and see items that are either sold out online or say that my store doesn’t have it in stock. I understand there’s an innumerable amount of items and sizes they make/release/sell on any given day but is it really that hard to keep their inventory correct? It sure would help sell a few more things if customers could locate them. So if you see H9730 silk tunic top in a black in medium please put out a JCA signal to me...
Not sure if this will help but I have a size small, they run large. I had ordered a medium and small. Was swimming in the medium. Have you tried them on?
DeleteLynn, I have the pink and green in medium and love them, so I wanted to add the black to my closet. Thanks for the suggestion though!
DeleteNot a vent: I noticed the JCrew x Abigail Borg skirt is online. I like the pink/blue combo print. I will have more use with that print as a top than a skirt. I can’t wait for the next pre-fall roll out!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Madewell changed the format of their website. Still getting used to it...they had a small roll out today.
I am not a fan of either of the two new prints...I just do not like the colour combos.
DeleteI love the pink/blue combo. It is very pretty in person, though I don’t know how to style it without the hookup. Wearing it with a sweater or cardigan seems a bit too teacher for me and I can’t get away with a chambray top or tee at work. Need Jenna-ish styling ideas!!
DeleteReps - What’s the top that goes w the skirt, a cami style top?
DeleteExcuse my autocorrect ‘Eeps’
DeleteIt’s a v neck sleeveless top
DeleteThank you!
DeleteUgh, Madewell screwed up the look of their website, too! I saw one item labeled "new" after scrolling through 6 pages of supposed "New Arrivals". You can't even enlarge the view to get a better look at the details of items.
ReplyDeleteI've stopped looking at JCrew's site because I find it so user un-friendly. Looks like I'll be doing the same with Madewell. So disappointing.
They got rid of the wishlist. It looks like they have a new "favorites" category, but everything I had saved is gone. Very disappointing.
