"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I caved during the flash sale and ordered the pineapple Tippi, and chose ship to store to avoid a shipping fee. By the time it finally got to the store, my sale goggles had slipped off and it just wasn't worth the time and effort to go pick up an item I didn't really need. So, I called the store and asked them to just process the return. First, they couldn't find the item (yes, it's there, I got an e-mail saying it was and the tracking shows delivered). Then, they expressed confusion about whether it could be returned without me picking it up (it can, their policy is just to process the return automatically after 7 days if it hasn't been claimed). After the person on the phone checked with their manager, they said they would return it. The phone call probably took as long as it would take for me to drive to the store and it irks me that I know more about this process than the employees! That was over a week ago, and the return has still not been processed- no refund to my card, and the order still shows as "ready for pickup" on the website, even though it's been more than 7 days since it arrived to the store. I'm going to have to call again tomorrow and spend yet more time re-explaining to salespeople how ship-to-store works...

    2. I work in a very busy store and we leave things for much longer than 7 days. Of course this should have been handled when you called, but can you see if the 1-800 number can take care of it?

  2. I missed out on the Gingham Pencil Skirt last year and was happy to see it back in the latest rollout, although not in the light blue I wanted. Unfortunately they aren't making it in petite, which baffles me since No 2 Pencil Skirts have always had petite lengths from the day they were introduced. There isn't even a length in the description. Petite sizing has been slowly disappearing from Factory for a while and now on the retail side and it is very annoying considering places like Ann Taylor and even Old Navy can offer extra sizing from petite to plus.

    1. I have also noticed petite sizing dwindling. Odd since other brands seem to be expanding their sizing.

  3. Not a vent, just curious to know what the in store promotions are today. The 30% off purchase states online only. Wondering if it is worth it to make a trip to the store this afternoon.

    1. Yesterday (Wed) no further % off sale in the 2 downtown Vancouver stores. Just a sign saying "up to 70% off" above the sale section. Sale sections jammed with lingering old stock getting hanger worn. Wonder if there will be any store based weekend % off sale.

    2. I did end up going in to do returns. Basically no promos in store. The SA did give me the fold out flyer with the $20 off $100 coupon and mentioned triple points for cardholders but I didn't see anything I had to have. Store was virtually empty of customers.

  4. I keep missing these flash sales everyone is talking about. Where have I been?? Clearly I am not paying close enough attention but my bank account appreciates the break!
