This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Received a few items last night (cross posted):
ReplyDeleteTall utility pocket shirt in denim: I like how this is styled but the material is more of a textured cotton than denim—it's not denim. I ordered the tall size and the length is on the long side for me, I might have been able to go with the "classic" but it's not what I thought it was so even at the current low price i think it's going back.
Pull on short in cotton twill: I ordered this in the moss color and as reviews mentioned the waist runs really big. I don't think I want to size down because I don't want them tighter elsewhere so I might just deal with the slightly awkward fit. I ordered a second pair for my daughter and it's the same for her and you, if you have a big waist to hip difference as we do.
Tie sleeve sweatshirt: not a sweatshirt. It's a thick knit top. I sized up to a small because sweatshirts are usually really tight across my upper back it fits Boxy as expected. I really just got it to be comfy cozy so I'm on the fence even though it was under $15. I'll have to try on with some shorts and jeans and see if it's worth keeping in my summer tote as an extra layer.
Disappointing that not only is the fit an issue on these items, but the descriptions are inaccurate. A blue cotton shirt doesn't mean denim and a sturdy knit shirt isn't always a sweatshirt.
Ordered yesterday.... ughh... but I hope to like it... I been watching the silk Blythe shirts for a while ($35 each)... bought pink and grey, as well as the party dot silk shirt ($39)....pair of tights... all for $120. I chose the the expedited shipping for $3 and it shipped yesterday and arriving tomorrow.... will keep you posted.... used the on-site discount code and additional $20 off $100 coupon found in one of my packages.
ReplyDeleteMore pricing games... they just raised the prices on all shirts discounted yesterday by $8-10... insane
ReplyDeleteThis is quite infuriating and a new strategy for J. Crew. I think they are throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks.
DeleteI have a men’s review. DH has worn J Crew Ludlow shirts and stretch chinos for years. Years! They’ve always been his favorites.
ReplyDeleteHis most recent versions have not held up nearly as well as prior. Definitely not as thick and nice a fabric. The pants have shrunk more than before, and the shirt fabric is more wrinkly. The pants are also showing signs of wear/pilling by the pockets. Disappointing. I always felt the men’s side of things mostly escaping the precipitous slide in quality, but our most recent experience says no.
Good sale update very early this AM. I checked around 2 am Eastern, and there were 1200+ items with popbacks like cashmere topcoat, mockneck lace top, going out blazer with ruffle, fair isle sweater, etc.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was able to get a popback of the black Drake blouse which I regret not buying months ago and have been faithfully stalking via bookmark since. Still trying for Maddie chinos and the Dover blazer but at least the sizes I need weren't grayed out...that is the absolute worst! Did you get anything eeps?
DeleteI like the Maddie chinos, I bought 3 pair last year when they were about $11! They are a bit slimmer in the leg than the bi-stretch Maddie I have in the same size 4. I would call them true-to-size. And they don't sag out when I wear them!
DeleteI have one pair of the chinos and I would give my right arm to have more in my life! They are the best!. I can wear them to my office job, out doing errands, or bending and kneeling while I'm looking for sizes at the store and they still look great at the end of the day. Plus I wash and dry them. I have the bi stretch also and do not like them nearly as much, but I do take the same size (TTS) in both also.
DeleteWell, I don't think I could buy shirts if I had two right arms, or I'd send you a pair of mine. But I do hope a pair pops up! You make me feel better about buying all three colors.
Delete@Cheritheberry - I tried to find popbacks in my size but alas nothing! I already have the mockneck lace top, the going out blazer, and the Drake blouse (all of which I would buy on popback if I didn't already own them). Was mildly interested in the cropped wide leg pants in Glen plaid but decided that the time of year when I wear plaid (fall) would negate the cropped length because it would be too chilly and my office doesn't tolerate that pant length after Labor Day. But glad others took advantage of good finds!
Delete@cheritheberry Let us know what you think of the Drake blouse when you get it please. I have been considering this blouse and have seen it on popback multiple times but can't decide if it's too busy (crazy grandma print) or stunning. I must admit my style wavers between the two LOL
DeleteI swear I replied yesterday -
ReplyDelete@anthro, I did indeed wear the cashmere sweater to my chilly office. For the price I could not let it go. Thank you for being so sweet about it.
Also, I like the eccentric grandma thing! This blouse won me over simply with the black background.
@cheri I'm so glad you kept it, it's going to be a great piece and I know you'll get a lot of mileage out of it. I wouldn't have been able to let it go at that price either. If one makes its way to your store let me know!
DeleteI love the crazy grandma look but I am decades too early for it so I try to tone it down. I am such a sucker for interesting prints but the neckline pleating made me hesitate. I'm busty so it has the potential to be a disaster on me. I'm trying to be more mindful with my spending (thank you, graduate student budget) so I am only buying things I absolutely love. Lately, that has meant nothing!
