  1. Shout outs to a few older (not new) pieces in my closet.

A few years ago a crepe (poly) tank came out that has a longer layer with a shorter piece on top. I've always found it flattering to wear this tucked in so the outer layer is swingy. (If you know the top you'll understand). I wore this recently with the turner joggers in black and Madewell Caldwell pull on trousers in black (super wide leg) with sandals. Really easy to wear and can get dressed up or down. I love this so much I'm keeping it in my suitcase for our frequent sports tournament nights away— It's like wearing sweats.

This past winter I bought the red lace easy pants knowing the color would work well with the light blue tipped pajama top from the previous year. I've worn this outfit twice this Spring and have gotten multiple compliments. (Maybe because I'm usually in black). The red also matches the Sophia patent pumps in bright cerise perfectly. It's such an easy, comfortable outfit.

  2. That's wonderful! I remember when you purchased the red lace pants, it was actually shocking, but they do look so cute with the tipped blouse. I'm glad you are enjoying them. As well as the shoes!

I am wearing the new dusty khaki wide leg crop pant in cotton poplin today. Styled with a loose white tee with low elastic gathered ruffle neckline, a navy Crew cropped little chino jacket from summer '07, plaid ankle strap espadrilles (probably also from summer 07'), and the Crew brown multi bead and stone hoop earrings. The pants feel like a dream on and I feel very stylish wearing this pant shape. It's different from my usual but I've been wearing looser fits more and more. For reference, I sized down to a double 00, although I could have worn the 0. It was a tough decision, but I preferred the pants more fitted in the behind (and my behind is very large for my size, so one does not need to size up to accommodate that).

    1. Oh, that sounds like such a great outfit. I have to see if my store has those pants.

I admit I just ordered the wide leg crop in 365 crepe in black. Not sure if they've been less $$$ but the 30/20 promo makes them an ok price—about $15 more than I would really like to pay but I think they will get tons of wear.

I have the white linen sailor pants from last year and only wore them once—if at all—out of the house. I love the idea of them but it's such a sharp contrast to my usual black I end up feeling very self conscious.

    2. I really like those pants for you. First, black. :) Second, don't you just find yourself drawn to wide legs lately Suz? I don't know what it is...
The black 365s seem extremely versatile.

The white linen sailor pants are cute, but very outfitty. Meaning, I would have to be in the mood, rather than just throwing them on. Although I could manage to wear them at least a few times each season! I like white everything in the summer. How did you wear them on the one instance?

    3. To be honest I think I may have taken them off. I tried them with the white Rhodes blazer and also a white linen popover. I bought the polka dot puffy sleeve top thinking they could work together but I'm not sure. The denim short sleeve utility shirt was a good idea but the sleeves on that were a little weird.

    4. I would have liked the denim utility shirt with that. On myself, I tend to like tops that get tucked and then billow out with that type of bottom. Let us know how you make out with the 365 pant and if you re-address the sailors.

    5. I've had those 365 pants in my cart for a while - tempted to purchase as well. Report back on how they work out!

    6. Anne, i tried them in store awhile back and absolutely loved them more than I thought I would. I tried the chambray ones at the same time (which I was hoping would work) and they didn't drape as nicely to me.

  4. I just took back a boatload of items, and the SA was more than friendly. It was the best experience I’ve had in person and I didn’t even make a purchase. I love that jcrew, in my experience, always has great customer service.

  5. Went to make a few returns today.

I was specifically looking for the Boardward crossover sandals in Madewell but they weren't in store so I took a chance and ordered them online as they popped back in the saddle color in my size (previously backordered until October). I was curious to try them on because I also like the black but feel they might look too heavy in black and I don't have flat sandals in that Saddle color.

I also received the Cora sandals in white (cream, whatever it is). I'm not 100% sure about them. The leather looks nice and they have a little more cushion than I'd even expect. Just not sure if I love the look so much with shorts and if they'll actually stay on my feet.
