Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Just to do returns from my last order in January. Returning the striped tippi with cherry patch, striped Henley, and striped wrap top. But I'm really happy with the items in keeping: a pair of winter boots, gray cashmere cardi, gray ruffle neck sweater and my liberty print shirts.

    1. Thoughts on the cherry patch tippi and ruffle neck sweater?

      Delete
    2. First... Got my usual size small in both. Dress size 4 with occasionally wearing a size 2/XS.

Cherry tippi: cute but something was off. I think I would have preferred if the stripes were reversed (more Navy vs ivory). And I feel like I wanted the cherry patch a little larger. I think some people will love this but it wasn't a love for me.

Ruffle neck sweater was a surprise love for me. Not into ruffles or anything but it was so subtle. Plus I love the Chevron pattern. Got the lighter gray color. Little loose in body but the sleeves were perfect for me but a little on the slim side. If you have larger arms, you might want to take that into consideration. If there was a black one, I'd totally get another. Not sheer either.. but not a heavy sweater.

    3. any pilling on the ruffle neck sweater? I thought that looked so cute online in gray and navy. Looks good with jeans?

    4. I loved the cherry tippi. Its a favorite - and i have them all.

    5. My concern about the cherry tippi (possibly bc it's more ivory than navy) is whether it's sheer?

      Delete
    6. Sorry... I thought I replied to this but I guess blogger ate my comment.

Tippi: yes. Slightly sheer but I hadn't noticed it really when I tried it on and only noticed it a little when I went to double check after your comment.

And no pilling yet for the ruffle neck sweater. I think it's cute with jeans (that's all I usually wear anyway)

  2. No reason to go to the store this weekend. I'm hoping there will be some % off sale on the 14th.

    1. Check your mail, bythelake. J.Crew just sent an email for 30% promo w code to use. Hopefully the 30 includes stuff you already have in your cart!

    2. The email I got this afternoon was "come have a second look..." and did not include any promo code. Frown.

    3. I got an email today with a one-time 30% code which is "valid on the purchase of select full-price items marked "30% off full price with your exclusive code." I don't see such items on the website, only the Valentine's picks. What am I not seeing??

    5. Items aren’t identified, but once you place them in your basket with the code, the discount is applied. Worked on new Liberty items. Here’s a code if someone needs one. Please post if you use it.

  3. Going to return/exchange poplin wrap top. I purchased in a small and it is just too short and where the wrap part inserts into the shirt is too high on my ribcage. The shoulder is a bit off too- not quite dropped but definitely not set in. Hoping a tall XS solves the issues because the color and shape are very flattering. Otherwise continuing to shop mindfully and from a list.

  4. I have a possible return...I haven't decided for sure yet. Other than that, I have no plans for any kind of shopping this weekend. I plan to continue with my sorting and organizing. Currently: the file drawers in my home office. I have 4 very cute little red metal Ikea Helmer chests that I use to file papers, arts & crafts and office supplies. Everything looks very neat and well organized from the outside, but inside the drawers hides a plethora of junk mail, expired coupons, old utility bills and other garbage. My goal is to clean out the drawers so I have space to store the homeless sketch books, journals and clippings that are currently stacked on top of my desk. I want the top of the desk to be totally clear so I can finally use it to SEW.

  5. No visit for me. If I don't count my return/purchases last Saturday, I'm nine days in to #noshopfebruary. I usually do ok on the weekends but next week is a long weekend and I tend to find myself at the mall on those days off so hoping to channel my energy elsewhere.

    1. Kudos to you! I can't believe it's only been 9 days...I'm hoping it gets easier.

    2. @Anne, good for you! @Cheritheberry, I'm hoping it gets easier too. :)

I did some returns this week and quickly left as I didn't totally trust myself. Knowing that I over shopped in Jan. is making it a little easier to refrain but it's going to be a long month.

    3. thanks, ladies! Instagram nearly did me in, I saw a jumpsuit I loved and almost bought it but realized I didn't have anywhere I knew I'd wear it this month, so I will wait. Only 18 days to go!

      Delete
    4. Oooh what jumpsuit? I preferred the paisley blouse because 4t popped back. I have only worn the pants once (in November), but I love the print and want more of it in my life.

    5. And by preferred I mean ordered. I guess my predictive text has changed with my shopping halt for 10 days!

  6. I'd like to go to Factory and check out their version of the open-front sweater blazer. The retail one was a tough fit for me - S was too oversized, XS didn't feel right either and the sleeves on both were way too short. Factory seems to do a decent job of correcting the fit mistakes from the retail side.

However, we've had such high cold/flu activity here that I'm really hesitant to go to the mall. How many weeks till spring? ; )

    1. Report back on the sweater-blazer, silver_lining. I’m curious about that one, too.

I was also thinking about a trip to Factory to try the new Washed Black Denim Jacket, but I just noticed it is online only so I will probably order to try. I think I would get a lot of wear out of something like that and I like that the denim fabric is the better-quality cotton/spandex vs. that cotton/poly/elastene blend.

      Delete
    2. I just ordered this with my rewards. When factory did the buttoned blazer version of the retail one, I went with 1 size down instead of the 2 sizes down in the retail. I decided to do the same with this one - we’ll see how it works!

  7. OK ladies have you seen the new "playa" swim collection that hit the website? It's painfully obvious those pieces were made with a low offering price in mind and they will not work for anyone who has larger than an A cup. SHM.

    1. It’s just so far from their lines in the past... skimpy, clearly thin fabric, lack of breast support, etc. There’s not one suit in this line that I could comfortably and confidently wear. Between this and the reading glasses someone saw on a recent rollout, J. Crew is seriously confused as to their repeat, regular clientele.

  8. I need help returning, emotional strength-wise. Please help talk me out of the following: (I'm going to tell you the prices so you can be extra tough, because, they're good) No. 2 pencil skirt in double-serge wool in black for 29.99, Lightweight wool Jackie cardigan with embroidery in black/white, for 28.99, (extra challenge: I currently do not own a cardigan), Tall drapey crepe cap-sleeve top in black, 24.99, Tall new Blythe top in silk georgette in cream for 23.49, Tall Ruffle-neck silk top in black for 29.99, Tall silk pocket blouse in safari for 29.99, Tall Drapey crepe faux-wrap top in petal, for 22.49 (keeping the navy), Cluster stone earrings in vivid jade for 22.99. As soon as I'm like 'yes, I'm returning these' 5 minutes later I'm like 'well, they would be really great.' I've bought a lot over the last 1.5 months, I feel like I need to draw the line and just take a break from acquiring things.

    1. Wow those are some nice pieces for really good prices! Sorry I wish I could me of more help:)

      Delete
    2. WOW what great prices, striped socks! I personally would have a very hard time returning the Double Serge Pencil in black or the silk Blythe in cream - those are good quality, versatile “forever pieces.” For < $30? Keep those :)

      Delete
    3. @stripedsocks I am going to try my best here! I love cardigans and showed that one to my husband and he said it looks like graffiti, so I passed on it. Now I can't unsee it! I have also found that J. Crew's "new" silk does not wash/age well, and always gets pull marks around the shoulder seams after a few wears (and yes, I am wearing the correct size). I am guessing the petal top is sheer, and I tend to favor bright colors rather than muted pinks, and if you are keeping the navy you still have the design and functionality of the top but in a color that may serve you better. And finally, I am not a fan of costume earrings because I am allergic to some of the metals they put in it, so that is my best argument :) I don't have any arguments against the double serge pencil skirt because everybody needs a black pencil skirt but with all that said, here is my question: why did you decide to return these items in the first place? if you keep them, are you going to reach for them or are they going to remain with tags on in your closet? The prices may be good but if they are not worn, they are a waste of space and $$. Add the above prices together and see what the total is. Then you may have a harder time justifying it as "well, they were cheap." If I find that I hesitate on something, I usually return it because mistakes of the past have told me I won't reach for it. You may feel FOMO at first, but usually mine subsides within a day or two. I hope this helps!

      Delete
    4. I agree that you should keep. You’ve bought some great basics and an accessory that you can wear. I would keep everything and begin outfit planning. I think you’ll regret not having them. Since you have these versatile pieces, you can take a break from buying.

      Delete
    5. @stripedsocks Not sure how much help I can provide but wanted to mention I found myself in the same boat after the January sales. When I did my initial try on's I pretty much loved everything. I think I was partially blinded by the prices. Once I did a 2nd try on and evaluated my closet I did return 5 things. I currently have 2 more things that need to go back that have nothing wrong with them and fit but like you I am feeling the need to stop acquiring and am trying to weed out. I would say things like the wool skirt might be worth keeping as it is classic and basic, same for the silk blouse. If you really see yourself getting use out of the item I would keep. If it really is not your style or color or you already have something similar or you don't think you will reach for it often I say return,

    6. Return:
      - Jackie cardigan with embroidery: The embroidery is very dated. Also, have you seen Kate McKennon’s SNL sketch about Pandora bracelets? Yeah...she was wearing the navy/red version of this cardigan. Wasn’t very flattering on her...
      - Blythe top: silk is terribly thin and truly worth less than what you paid. Then again, all J.Crew silk besides those from the Collection are of low quality.
      - Silk pocket blouse: same reasoning as above. Cut and style are outdated. Also, if you have skinny arms, the sleeves are yuuuge. Not flattering at all.
      - Cluster stone earrings: echoing eeps below in regards to quality. Also, style is below par given the combo of thick brass prongs and size/cut of the stones. Not worth the money.

      Maybe keep:
      - Ruffle neck silk top: slik quality is not good but the style is beautiful.
      - Faux wrap in petal: will you wear this color often? :)

      Definite keep:
      - Pencil skirt is a basic
      - Drapey cap-sleeve top: I love the silhouette of the sleeves! If you have narrow shoulders, the top will look darling. I bought this in the polka dot and navy. Both pieces are great for business and personal trips.

      Delete
    7. Would you rather have all that $$ back to spend on an investment item, instead of a bunch of individual pieces?

      Delete
    8. I'd keep the pencil skirt if you are a skirt wearer. The wrap is superfluous if you are already keeping the navy. The cardigan will not wash and wear well. The blouses are inferior. I wanted the ruffle blouse myself until I was sorely disappointed when I fondled it in store. The quality on the blouses is simply not there. Even with the lower prices, in my humble opinion, they are not worth it.

      Delete
    9. ok you guys are the best, thank you! If I keep one (more) thing, it will be the skirt, because of the consensus here. Namora, does the drapey cap-sleeve top look good tucked into things? Or is it very blousy then? Looking up the skit; love kate mckennon. Thanks for the help everybody!

      Delete
    10. @stripedsocks, I was about to vote to keep the skirt too. :) I was going to say to keep the Blythe in cream earlier but after reading reviews here it sounds like quality may be lacking. I just thought they were great pieces for classics.

      Delete
    11. Stripedsocks, I think so! :) I tuck mine into wool skirts and pants. :) The top is quite versatile.

      Delete
    12. @stripedsocks. What I do is add up the total cost. The individual prices might seem small, but seeing the total could give you a different perspective.
If it helps, I've decided that I have way more than I need and I am not buying one more thing, no matter how great the price is. I've noticed that I'm feeling so much better.
Good Luck! I know it's tough.

      Delete
    13. @maryeb, I agree, adding up the total price shows that it's not just one more small thing. But what really helps is adding up what I've already spent, and being like, do I really want to add 200 dollars to that? no. On the other hand it also helps to see all the great things I've already gotten, and just feel like, that's enough.
Thanks again for the strength, all :)

  9. Those are awesome prices but...:
Lightweight wool Jackie cardigan - I almost got this too, despite the fact that I already own this in brown with blue embroidery. I didn't because I remembered that the embroidery can cause the sweater to lay weird sometimes, especially after washing. The fabric under the embroidery is restricted by the stitching, so over time it may stretch weirdly.

Tall new Blythe top in silk georgette in cream - I got this in red, I loved it initially but after washing and wearing once, I am painfully aware of how flimsy the silk is. And the shoulder/arm seams are weird - they pull for me even though the top is loose. I haven't figured out what's wrong with the way they are cut that is creating this issue.
Cluster stone earrings in vivid jade - I have several pieces of JC costume jewelry and they have turned color over time (2-5 years). I've stopped buying any jewelry from them for this reason. Also, I find their costume jewelry can be dated very quickly.
    HTH!

  10. I also have a return dilemma! Usually I can make up my mind fairly quickly but I am on the fence about this one because it was a popback that I waited a very long time (since October!) to find:
the easy silk pants in tiger print, 4T.

I really wanted the 2R, which should be my correct size. I thought, based on the product measurements, that I would be OK with the T inseam but they are about 2 inches too long. Right now they are long and look sloppy. Plus, I am a true 2 in the waist of these pants, so the 4 are slightly loose in the waist and butt. The overall look is loose and a little sloppy, which is not my style.
However: I may never come across a 2. And I love this print. I have the sweater and I wanted to wear as a hookup. (but with the loose fit of the 4T, I can't wear as hookup without looking really 1990s) And lastly, I've been gaining weight steadily and it may just be a matter of time that I fit the 4. (I've gone from a 00 to a 2 in three years despite my best dieting efforts)

    1. eeps, are these pants worth the cost of a good tailor? If so, then definitely keep!

      Delete
    2. Eeps, that's a tough decision as you mentioned you may not find a 2. But it sounds like the 4 doesn't work very well and since you have the sweater (meaning at least you have something in that print) I'd lean towards returning them. Even if you gain weight they may not fit how you want, so I still think that's a gamble.

      Delete
    3. Eeps, in my book, return them. J bought the Drakes bird of paradise pant in a size too large, and I never wear them (well, 2-3x in house only for luxe lounging). I want to have them tailored. Have I done it yet? No. I probably shouldn't have bought them. However, if you are so in love with the tiger pants that you will find a tailor *right away* then give them a loving home! If you're not motivated enough to do this task right away, let them go to someone who could wear them as they are.

      Delete
    4. You guys are right. I don’t think it’s worth taking to a tailor - if it were a matter of just the inseam I wouldn’t mind hemming but the fit at the waist and butt makes tailoring a hassle. And my neighborhood tailor/dry cleaner closed this month so I’m without a trusty tailor. I’m going to return them tomorrow and be grateful I have at least the print in the cardigan.

      Delete
    5. Way to be strong :) I feel for you, though. I missed out on the awesome tiger cardigan, caught it on popback, went to store for pickup and was handed an empty envelope. Sometimes it's just not meant to be!

  11. Reviews for two items I bought and have kept:

    Stats: 5’8, 120 lbs., 34B
    - Tall eyelet ruffle mock neck top G9541 in black in size 4: absolute love. Beautiful eyelet detailing, silk/cotton ruffles, and buttons on the back spine on heavy weight cotton with nary a loose thread in sight. A few commentors dislke the heavier weight of the cotton but I disagree; this top looks best as a sheath rather than a flowy top. Size 4 is quite large so a size 2 would suffice. Will purchase the white and emerald in a Tall 2 with the blessing of popback gods.

    - Funnelneck striped shirt in subtle pink G9944 in size 0: This shirt runs huge on me. I tried on a 4 because of my never-ending optimism that my boobs might just be too big for a shirt ;). Sadly, the shapeless sack that confronted me in the mirror told me otherwise. I tried on a 2 and still had enough room to stuff two wool socks down my bra. A 0 was just right. Subtle pink is, well, quite subtle and pairs well with grey pants. Won’t be purchasing any of the other colors right now... But if J.Crew comes out with a cream/lemon striped version, I’ll bite. :)

    1. I haven't worn mine yet (I'm envious you have) but that's something I plan to wash on the handwash cycle. I have successfully washed my victorias secret, rebecca taylor, and maje lace blouses in the past. In a lingerie bag I might add.

    2. @jan I wore mine in the weekend. Handwashed, then rolled it in a towel to get the excess moisture out before laying it flat to dry. This is definitely an item that can be safely handwashed. :) NB: when ironing the ribbons make sure to iron them from the back (or use a cloth over the top) as otherwise you'll get shiny patches on the ribbons. I also ironed the top inside out for the same reason.

  13. I went to do some returns. I was strong (though it wasn't that hard) and walked out with nothing. I did do some tryons- the Silk Ruffle Dress in Watercolor Floral made me look like I had line-backer shoulders (which is weird- I have small shoulders and have never had this happen even with blazers with shoulder pads), and the sleeves were too loose. The fit in the waist/bust was correct though, so I wouldn't size down. The print is better in person than on the website, and I would consider the cami except for the spaghetti straps- I know I would never reach for it if I had to wear a strapless bra or keep on a constant layer. The Silk Button-up Shirt I brought into the fitting room with me had a big vertical rip right where the placket met the rest of the shirt. I already had misgivings that the fabric would be too sheer, but after that, I didn't even bother to try on an alternate. I did like the Ruffle Neck Pullover Sweater, but can wait for sale. No-shop February continues! We'll see if the next rollout brings temptation.

  14. Like everyone, I popped in to do a return lol. Returned the pink New Balance leather court sneakers that I had bought earlier in the week - only because they were 30% off online and fp in store, so waiting on the delivery man which is ok as we are buried in snow and I won’t be able to wear them for at least a month. They are very cute if you are into sneakers, and I’ve noticed that pink ones continue to be everywhere for spring. They run big as the US sizing is inaccurate - an EU 40 is mislabeled as a US 9, when it should be a US 9.5. If you are ordering, go down 1/2 a size from your real-world size (and possibly a full size from your JCrew size).

    ReplyDelete
  15. I posted about 99 cent men's slim garment-dyed shirts the other day. I ordered S, M and L for the men in my life. To my surprise, they have shipped!

The regular (non slim) sizing G6967 is $53.99 Canadian right now (reg price is $78.50). So strange. (But no complaints from me!)

  16. I struggle not only with FOMO (fear of missing out), but also a desire to acquire what I've seen referred to "in case of emergency clothes". It has paid off occasionally. For example, I wore a $60 J Crew party dress that I had bought "just in case" to a semi-formal event a year later. I could easily have ended up spending hundreds of dollars and scrambling/stressing if I had not had the "just in case" dress ready to go. Maybe I would ultimately be better off dealing (full price) with these types of admittedly rare occasions as they occur, rather than buying items in anticipation of needs that may or may not occur?

What do other JCAs think about the notion of "in case of emergency" acquistiions?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I do this same thing - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

For example, I have a sequins dress in a pretty pale pink color (not sure what it was called or year, have to look at tags when I get home) - I picked it up for $30 final sale and have yet to find an occasion appropriate enough to wear it.

On the other hand - I purchased a gorgeous navy blue dress with gold clip dot pattern and ended up needing a last minute navy dress for my sister’s wedding and this worked perfectly.

I see the value in it, I just need to figure out how to do it better.

      Delete
    2. I think they are wonderful in moderation! For people who are consistently the same size, are realistic if aspirational about quantity and type of future events, and if the item is a real love. In my experience, as an event nears, I feel more desperation and am more likely to end up with something I'll never wear again because it isn't totally right. And... I might pay more telling myself it's a need. I like to take my time and get the perfect thing, so I enjoy shopping ahead :)

      Delete
    3. I try to avoid doing this and only buy for my real life. For me, these fantasy events rarely come to pass and the outfits hang in my closet mocking me. :P

      Delete
    4. I actually bought a pale pink/mauve sequin cami on a whim and a promo. No idea where I’d wear it. When it came home I tucked it away ... but it’s lovely under plain, tailored blazers, odd leather jackets (not moto, too much jacket - makes the cami look like peculiar underwear), and it has really earned its keep. I’d say I have maybe a 50/50 record on  “what if” purchases, and they’ve tapered off in recent years, mainly because i can’t imagine an emergency where i’d be happy to find a ruffled polyester thing with foofy sleeves and off-center ruffles in my closet.

      Delete
    5. All of my ICE (“in case of event”) buys I do end up wearing whether it’s a few months or a year. I’m glad that I have them because as Sarah said I end up frantically searching for something. This is especially true in the case of events where the weather isn’t seasonal to your area (like an out of town wedding). I try to only buy pieces of a certain palette that way I can mix and match better.

      Delete
    6. That's a great idea - to keep to a colour palette or some other sort of unifying theme, which will naturally limit your ICE purchases. If it's a silk dress with large colourful flowers that looks gorgeous at the time, but goes with literally nothing else in your closet (and therefore represents a real departure from your usual style), you're less likely to wear it, even ICE.

      Delete
    7. I buy just in case all the time. The successful purchases are mainly dressy wear for holidays, parties and wedding. There is nothing better than going to an event knowing you didn’t have to splurge while wearing a very nice dress.

      Delete
    8. I also have lots of just in case clothes.
First off, how many times have you been to an event where someone is wearing the dress that was on display at whatever mall store and another guest shows up in the same outfit? You know when this happens—when people wear something they bought for that specific event, right before.
I have what I like to think of as a curated collection of dressy-enough attire. Separates, because that's what I prefer.
So when I see something i definitely buy it. But most of the stuff I buy could be dressed up or down, so I can wear it to a dinner out and not feel too overdressed, or wear it to an event and be dressed up enough. (See my post below).

      Delete
    9. I've bought a lot of just in case stuff in the past. Some paid off (Cafe Capris) and some didn't (almost all J Crew dresses, just didn't need them). I don't go to enough events that I need to have things on hand just in case.

  19. I hated the New Balance polka dot workout tank. I'm glad I gave the New Balance perfect tank a try G7883. I also have the paisley one F6372. I love them for (hot) yoga. I take the XS - which results in a snugger fit than is shown on the models, but I wear them for yoga and the last thing I want in yoga when I'm bending over or inverted in some way is for my shirt to flop down into my face, exposing my stomach.

The material is thin but I toss them into mesh laundry bags for washing and have had no issues. In fact, I'm wondering if the thin material means that it will actually wash better and retain less "gym stink" over time. (But this is just speculation at this point.)

I look for workout tops without sleeves because I find the sleeves confining and uncomfortable during exercise. I want tanks without a built-in bra because I'd rather wear my preferred sports bra underneath. (It's hard enough to find separate bras and tanks that I like, but I've never found a built in bra tank that I like).

They are not cheap, but during the great January sales, they were something ridiculous - $12 or $13 after promo code. They pop back occasionally - if you can catch them on sale they are worth a try. I wish they were offered in more patterns/colors. Would love to have some more.

I've been wearing Old Navy tanks, and they do the job at great prices but the material is not as nice.

  20. I received my spring rewards in the mail today, and I’m a little confused because I feel like I just got rewards, and a $25 gift card thing right before the holidays. And I have NOT spent enough to justify this given my recently-ended shopping ban - I know what my points total was b/c I kept getting the “you’re almost there” nonsense.

I’m not complaining, but I think they got the math wrong this time. Anybody else have errors w rewards recently?

    1. Mine was higher than I expected also Ruffles. They had double points from November 7 to December 25 so that might be the reason.

    2. I did and I didn't spend enough to justify the amount either. Definitely not complaining because the amount was generous.

    3. Double points, that explains it! Thanks, Shopping Celle.

    5. I realized that these rewards were posted to the website in January....so I had already used them. 😢

    6. Are you sure Lisa? I thought those expired 1/31? Or definitely before April

    7. Lisa, the rewards I received yesterday are new and say “Spring” rewards. I used my previous rewards in January, too.

    8. Mine definitely say I have a balance of $0. I called CS and they said I used them on an order 1/20/18.

    9. I thought mine couldn't have been right, it was too much. I quickly spent it just in case they changed their mind !

    10. I just checked and pretty sure it IS the same # as the one I used in January. What the heck?

    11. Same here re: rewards. They were available on the website in mid-January - I redeemed them during the 50% off sale and then received an email and physical card in the mail this week, but they have a zero balance. Not a very coordinated effort on J.Crew's part.

    12. Same thing happened to me. I spent mine in January. Got a new email this weekend saying my spring rewards were here. Thought to myself, hmmm. Sure enough, number is the same and balance is $0.

    13. Ugh, you are all right - it was the same rewards!!! How stupid! Send a physical card when the rewards were used a month ago and account balance is $0?

  21. Any reviews for the French girl crepe blazer? Specifically in pink?

    1. Thanks @liztriden. I'm curious too.

    2. I’ve only see the navy one in person and i personally do not like the style. There is an 80s vibe to it that doesn’t sit well with me. The fabric felt OK. I have a feeling it wrinkles easily.

    3. Any input on the matching pants? Eeps, I can totally see the 80's David Byrne vibe!

    4. I have not, for the life of me, found the French Girl fit pants in a store. I've looked (repeatedly) in Brookfield and Fifth Avenue. I've seen the new Camerons, Edie, Marties, easy pants... are they called something else in stores?

  22. I wanted to make a return last week/Friday but didn't get the chance. Since I've been "trying" not to shop I put a bunch of things on my wishlist but theyve all disappeared which is bizarre. Of course I don't even remember what I liked, so it couldn't have been that special.

I noticed the black and white stripe wrap silk pants and top online. I will definitely have to try these. It's hard to tell if they will work, I know it's a difficult look and the stripe makes it even trickier because it's such a bold pattern.

Also reporting back that I wore my two planned outfits this weekend (posted on my insta @wearthislikethis) and felt perfectly appropriate and myself, and the only "new" pieces were the merino turtleneck and the embellished velvet maryjane pumps. The Madewell metallic pants got several compliments last night, as did the shoes, which sadly were killing my feet by the end of the night but I made the rookie mistake of never wearing them before and was literally dancing all night, so even comfortable shoes tend to hurt after a few hours of dancing. Unfortunately within a few minutes of putting them on two stones fell out but I miraculously found them and will try to crazy glue them in. I wore the velvet blazer and a sleeveless silk blouse with funky shoulders So I was able to take the blazer off and the outfit still worked without it.

    1. I also wore last year's Oxford check coat twice over the past week—I think last year I may have only worn it once! I actually prefer it this year since it's not as popular. Also it's great to wear when you know there will be a sea of black coats.

  23. My wishlist also disappeared! It does that on the reg.
I like both of the striped items. I have black silk Gold Hawk pants of the same style which unfortuntely no longer fit me but I'm holding onto in denial.

I liked the outfits a lot and am glad to hear that they worked out fo ryou! When I first started checking JCA regularly after a years long hiatus, I remember you were unsure about the Madewell pants. The necklace was a fabulous addition, and I am down with the double velvet. :) It's a huge vitory when we find stones that fall out of shoes. I have a pair of flats that loses them regularly and I always feel so victorious after regluing. Hope you had a nice time.
