J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I bought the Liberty Print long sleeved swimsuit and although I love the print I had to return it. I’m 5’2” and wear a size 12. I’m also very busty but found the size 12 too big and too long in the torso. I wish it had worked as I live in Hawaii and already at the beach

  2. Pleasantly surprised that an order placed on Presidents Day (Monday) shipped by end of day and should arrive Wednesday.

  3. So I reveived an email stating 40% off 4 sale items, 30% off 3, 20% off 2, 10% off one. It appears to be a unique code. It also states new items added. All I see if the same old sad 400 or so items that have been there all weekend. Not that I should be looking anyway #nsf.

    1. I received a code, too, but in the form of a popup on the website rather than an e-mail. I don't know whether it's one time use or not. I'd post it here except it was just a random group of numbers and letters and I didn't write it down anywhere. It worked on both sale and full price items. I also noticed that I could use google to find sale items that are not showing up on the website, including a sweater that I've been stalking forever. So, yes, I placed an order. RIP #NSF. I guess I'll be doing a #NSM.

    2. here's a code... i'm not using it:

    3. The above code is the same as I received so it appears to be universal.

    4. FYI, works on non-sale items too. So, if there is something regular price you are looking for, the 40% is a good thing.

    5. I also received the same code. I just tried and it does appear that you can use it more than once. I have no idea how long it’s good for though.

    6. Well, thanks for that. Since I ordered four items yesterday I just emailed for a price adjustment. Two of the items were newer pants, so an extra 10% off a $100 item basically means I get one of the sale items "free."

    7. It also works on denim which is sometimes excluded.

    8. @Lauren, I wondered the same thing, and it appears the promo is good till Feb. 22, midnight EST.

"Valid in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from February 20, 2018, 12:01am ET through February 22, 2018, 11:59pm ET. Discount on items as advertised in stores. Valid online on full-price items and sale items marked"

  4. I stopped in the store on Saturday. Photos of my try-ons/reviews are on my blog here.

I tried the Liberty floral symphony top and skirt, eyelet lace Jackie, pink French girl jacket, going out blazer, twill silk tiger shirt, silk twill striped pants (they are too small for me in the photo), drapey wrap-back jumpsuit, merino wrap sweater and the olive long sleeve shirt dress.

    1. Thanks for taking the time to write up the reviews. It is much appreciated. The going out blazer was not on my radar but after seeing it on you it is. I could use a more casual blazer in navy and maybe the black as well. The only other thing I liked was the cotton liberty top which was already on my wishlist.

    2. JessF, you're welcome! That blazer will be mine as soon as I can decide what color.

In full disclosure, my late night, end of the day sale purchases consisted of the open boyfriend cardigan in supersoft yarn in charcoal which recently had another price cut and the Liberty top. I was working on my blog post and saw that the top was almost sold out in all sizes, and the good old rule of scarcity convinced me that I needed it. Sigh. Not a total win for #nsf but I did way better than January. I sold some stuff on eBay this weekend so that was my justification.

    3. Great reviews as always! I’m so glad they kept the Liberty tank plain and simple and just let the Symphony print be the star. I loved the Fall Floral tank from last season but couldn’t get past the ruffled bib so I settled for the scarf. I agree that the Symphony skirt would have been great in a pencil style. The full skirts are beautiful, but not a cut I can wear.

    4. Thank you for your honest (& real life) reviews! We are of similar body shapes although you have a few inches on me so your pictures are really helpful.

    5. Thanks so much for the reviews, so helpful!
I've ended up buying the going out blazer in both the grey and the black, and I really love it. It is funny, but instead of wearing it to "go out", for me it is perfect to wear to work. Really easy to slip on over anything.

    6. Great reviews, Anne! Add me to the Going Out Blazer fan club - I have the black and it is a super flattering and versatile little jacket. The flat neckline works well with a scarf.

I do wish they’d make it in the Super 120s or Italian Stretch Wool.

  6. Ended up returning the wrap top in blue Oxford and exchanged for the wrap top in striped stretch cotton. The length for the blue Oxford is listed at 25 online and mine (small) was 23 and was just too short on my torso. The striped one is 24 and that extra inch made all the difference for me.
My store didn't have much I was interested in, wanting to try the button front denim skirt, Belgain lookalikes, and the new French girl items. Shopping focus has been on bottoms and shoes.

  7. I just received a big package and tried everything on. Most were misses and 2 maybes. The olive shirt dress is a big no - not cut for a full bust. Same for the everyday chambray which is also super short, even in tall. The liberty skirt is a return because I like the tank better and think that will get more use. Finally, the wide leg crepe pants are interesting. I didn’t realize it has an elastic back (why?) so that worries me they will read matronly. Need to try them with a few tops to see if I can make them look fresh and modern. Lots of returns! My money will go to KateSpade who’s looks this season really capture my style - feminine and fresh.

  8. I may cave.
I saw the reviews for that striped jumpsuit on insta but I want to try it on for myself anyway. There are a few other odds and ends such as the boy shirt in embellished which I've wanted for months, that I can put together to get the 40% off and some deals.

  9. It's 82°F here but I'm still loving my 1999 merino wool funnelneck sweaters. i just bought them in January but I've already worn them a lot (Stylebook CPW is dropping rapidly :P). I've even slept in them, as I tend to get cold at night. I hope they bring the same style back next year in more colors.

  12. I broke my no shop Feb yesterday and ordered the 10" toothpick jeans. Even though Canada didn't have the extra 10% off I was glad to have free shipping. Thank you again to @Anne for helping with these. :)
Today's promo looks good but $12 shipping for Canada negates some of the savings.

    2. Hey Unknown,

The promo that Jess mentioned above applies to Canadian orders as well. It was emailed out to some customers, but the code is universal. Some exclusions (usual items) apply.

      40% off 4 items, 30% off 3, 20% off 2, 10% off one

Drapey crepe capsleeve top. I got the 2 Tall in black. This is definitely a look but the fit is great and I really like the style, it's feminine and retro. ISO the ivory. I'm sure I'll find one at some point.

Silk twill crossover Pant. I was looking forward to these but the fit doesn't work. Too bad. This is going to be a hard sell. For me it would work a lot better if it was better tailored and not an elastic waist.

cropped silk pull on pant. I got a size up due to availability and they're a little too loose, even though I like them lower on the waist I think my regular size will be more flattering. Stalking for the XS.

Metallic sequin t shirt. Nice material. I sized up to a small because I read a review that said the arms are really tight. They are, and the fit is short and boxy, but it's cute.

    1. I'm sorry the crossover pants didn't work for you, I know you were looking forward to them, and I was really looking forward to them on your behalf.

Thank you for your reviews. I do like and was curious about the capsleeve top but it is just not my style. I like it on others!

    2. Thanks Cheri, the cap sleeve is so NOT a cap sleeve, it's more like a helmet sleeve. 😂 it's so different for me because I usually like to keep my arms more exposed (favorite body part!) but I like it, it's kind of ironic, as some might say.
