Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. There are a bunch of new additions to the 50% off sale section. Downside these are final sale, but there are some good deals.

  3. Will visit Factory this weekend. See some nice stuff to try! Things are looking good at Factory at least from the website.

  4. Returning jeans to the Factory store today. I see some things I will try on. I love the madras checked shirtdress but I bet it will be too short on me. I'll report in on my finds.

    1. maybe you can tell us what SA's have to say....as to if they are receiving shipments of retail items...at slashed prices.

    2. My store didn't have any retail clothing items. Just factory items. They didn't have the one factory item I was interested in either. I tried on the madras popover dress...too short for me. I'm 5' 9" and it was a good 4-5 inches above the top of my knee. All I bought was a white short sleeve popover and a striped tee. Everything in the store was 50% off...which is good because factory prices are as high as the retail store! These games are just annoying.

      Delete
    3. I posted in another thread but apparently only certain stores are on the distribution for the retail clothing. I was disappointed to hear my local one will not get stuff but the one about two hours away does get shipments.

      Delete
    4. Sound like we should compile a list of those stores that get the retail leftovers. I wouldn't normally go out of my way to visit a Factory store, but I would if I knew it got regular shipments of retail goodies.

      Delete
    5. I agree. Please share locations that get retail goodies. In April the Hilton Head factory outlet in Blufton SC had quite a bit of retail.

    6. Went to factory today to return striped chunky heel sandals; missed out on retail, so gave these a try. Didn't realize leather was synethtic😫. Grand Prairie factory didn't have any retail and manager seemed to be oblivious to the fact this was happening.

    7. JCF @ National Harbor, Tanger Outlet, Ft. Washington, MD/DC had a nice selection of retail clothing (with the black line through the tag). Many sizes, too. Not sure how long it will last. And not sure about JCF @ Arundel Mills/Hanover, MD.

    1. The statement on cheaper sources and trying to speed up how quickly it can get products into stores suggest a continued fixation on fast fashion which is not something I was hoping for. I will also pay more for high quality items, their prices haven't matched the quality and their shoppers know this.

      Delete
    2. TeriLynn, I interpreted it the same way ... cheaper manufacturing and shortened cycle times = fast fashion at lower price points. It sounds like J Crew is waving the white flag on quality as there is no mention anywhere of improving it. They will not get back the customers who have left w that strategy.

      Delete
    3. The old Mickey Drexler days were not cheaper. They had really adorable styling and amazing quality. I never found them to be cheaper at all but worthy of investment. I can remember many items I was priced out of because I was buying so much. I would love to have a second chance at some of those items again, but not if they are polyester remakes.

  9. OT, if anyone is looking for some casual knits, maxstudio.com is having 40% off the entire site, including sale, plus free shipping on all orders (code is SUMMER40). Nothing is final sale, but you do have to pay return shipping if you need to send something back. Some of their stuff is pretty out there, but I got 3 casual dresses for $82 total and free ship. They also have some nice utility jackets and trench coats on markdown plus 40% off, making them really good deals.

  13. Dropped in only because I was going to check out the Anthro sale. Sale was 30% off, nothing of interest there, and no interest in the new arrivals either.
Anthro's sale room was also a bust, until just as I was leaving a pretty sweater dress got put back. I snapped it up for $32, regular $148. Too bad everything else was awful cuts and styles, even on sale it's just sitting there.

    1. I completely agree, I stopped in at Antro and left empty handed. The sale items were awful. The store was packed though. I did stop in J. Crew, not much caught my eye, but I did pick up the pineapple tee with 30% off in store. Now I am ready for the weekend.

  14. I have been so disappointed by the lack of imagination at J. Crew for the past few rollouts, doubt I will visit a store this weekend.
But is anyone out there falling in love with Banana again? After not shopping there for at least 5 years, I have surprisingly found myself loving BR this year. They currently have a site wide 40% Memorial Day sale and many of their dresses are >50% off.
True, I wish they didn't rely on synthetic fibers as much as they do, but at least I will save on dry cleaning bills.
Their designs have been really on point this year. I found there were lots more dress styles to choose from at BR right now than JC, and it feels much fresher and modern. The online order arrived much sooner than expected, and I was pleasantly surprised by the fit & quality. I am obsessed with my new Feather Front Couture T-shirt and love their Micro-stripe Ruffle Maxi Skirt. Also loving their Floral Panel Maxi Dress.

    1. EllieB, I have found the same thing! BR has been back on my radar finally, I loved it under Marissa Webb but they got very boring imo after her departure - but this past year has seen a real improvement in styles. I've also gone back to Gap this spring for casual wear after many, many years away. Their pants and jeans in particular have been revamped with spectacular results. I know that myself and a number of other JCAs have been snapping up their paint-splatter distressed jeans, and their girlfriend chinos are fantastic. Glad to see in the financial news that Gap Group's fortunes seem to be looking up a bit. Funny how a better product equals better sales...

  17. So I received the Collection Tulle Top w Embroidered Polka Dot, size 2 - i wasn't impressed.
    Here are my thoughts:
    1) Tulle is delicate, feared I might snag it from a finger nail or something. Putting it on/off, and being careful seemed like a hassle. I can't be bothered 😁 I think owning the tulle skirt would be the safer bet
    2) For the price, and being a collection piece, it looked cheap to me. It didn't wow me at all.
    3) I love camel color; on cashmere sweaters, wool coats, and pants. This looked drab next to my skin. The stock photo online makes the top pretty, but not in IRL.
So I will return it tomorrow. Oh well. At least I saved $.

  18. Ship to store items arrived, so stopped in to pick up. Cute tees in new arrivals; seaside print is much nicer in person, tie neck oxford dress is a nice summer option but may be too short for me. Only tried on linen stripe tanks which I really like for summer. Didn't buy anything; will wait for sale.
Charlie colorblock mules are a good choice for summer; love the ease of a mule for warmer temps. Fit tts; I didn't find them to be too long. They're comfortable and leather is a little stiff but they'll break in easily.
Drake's giraffe print block heel is so cute; print is adorable and fit is tts. For me they fit just like glittery sequin silver heel in same style.
Morning floral linen pants finally went on sale, so tried them in my usual size. Fit is tts and I like the width of the length. It's exactly like other J crew full length linen pants.
Collection leather moto jacket in cassis was a sale popback. This color was on my wishlist & it's gorgeous; leather is a very good quality and fit is tts. I also have this jacket in ash & have worn it a lot.
Returned denim swing jacket; fit is tts but this was a miss for me; I didn't care for how it looked on me or the style once seeing in person. Anthropologie had a Pilcro crop denim jacket for $18, so problem solved.
Returned NAP Wide leg wool pant with stripe detail. Nice pant & fit is tts. Didn't realize they had pleats & not a huge fan of that detail. Wish they had a flat front like Collection full length pant in wool serge in forest green. Love this pant & it will work well for fall/winter.

    2. Wow! Did you say the drakes are $50.... that's great price... they were on my wishlist, but I waited out for the suede grey ankle wrap shoes (g4095)... coming in today.... after finaly going on sale, will keep you guys posted to the fit....

    3. No, no! My current Cost Per Wear is $50 as I got them for ~$100. Still a decent price considering their starting price and the fact that they sold out so quickly.

  19. I just looked through the offerings and I just feel done with summer clothing purchases. Here in Oregon we are just now getting some nice warm sunny days, but I feel I've done my summer shopping and I don't want to spend anymore time or energy on it. I look at the clothes they are doing and don't feel inspired or excited. Anyone else feeling like this? And I figure we've got maybe one or two more rollouts and then the transition to fall with start. Maybe it's because I started buying summer things in March....I don't know. I just feel worn out over it all.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Same here Stray Cat! I have $ to spend but not really feeling the stuff anymore. And SF doesn't get a lot of Summer, it's always in the low 60's, so I don't feel the need to invest in shorts, tanks, and spaghetti strap/sleeveless dresses. I prefer J.Crew's clothes during the Spring and Fall.
With only a few roll-outs left, no point in spending a lot on summer clothes, when I should start saving up for Fall.

      Delete
    2. Yes, I have been feeling like this. My summer season is so short. I looked at what I have for the summer recently and realized I can probably get through the summer with limited purchases and am planning on a summer wardrobe challenge of sorts to see how I can do not buying new stuff. We have one more rollout in June and then it'll be pre fall.

      Delete
    3. I actually need summer clothing more than winter (it's only truly cold here three mos or so, but I buy more fall/winter because I like those styles 😳). Having a hard time finding natural fibers in styles that are worth buying. Everything feels so trendy...

      Delete
    4. We traditionally have nice days in the spring (not so much this year...it was really rainy) and nice weather in the summer. I love spring and summer clothes....winter is just jeans, raincoats, boots. I don't spend a lot on winter clothes because I'm always all covered up. I considered the Ratti pineapple popover this morning. I think the print is pretty. But wouldn't a real shirt be so much more versatile? It could be worn as a real shirt with a skirt or slacks, you could put a cardigan over it because the sleeves aren't full, it would make as cute swimsuit cover up, you could wear it open with a sleeveless tank under it...or even a bikini top when on vacation with a pair of shorts. But a popover style really limits how I can wear it. If it goes on super sale I might buy it.

      Delete
    5. +1. Everything is so trendy and redundant that I'm not finding much I want at this point and am inclined to wait for early fall rollouts. It seems I often over-buy for summer and don't end up wearing a lot of my early-season purchases.

There is going to be a LOT of fruit, ruffles, and OTS launguishing in the sale section for the next year or so based on current offerings!

      Delete
    6. I don't tend to purchase much for summer. In the hot months, I (gasp!) sweat and wear a lot of sunscreen, neither of which are a good match for clothes that are basically unable to be laundered. I also like to wear a bra, which nixes a lot of their current offerings (nothing intrigues me enough to deal with wearing a strapless).

      Delete
    7. @Stray Cat, I saw the pineapple print in store today after I stopped in fro PAs. It's actually very cute & all of your styling options would work. I also like the pant, but will wait for sale. Very sure this is going to make it to clearance. Store had full size runs in both. Galleria Dallas had racks of winter merchandise for $19.99. It will languish still; it was 96 degrees yesterday & summer isn't even really here yet.

      Delete
    8. Thanks Mygoddy....I still would like it in a button down shirt. I find them so much more versatile and classic. I'll wait until it hits sale. Thanks!

  20. What Memorial Day weekend sales are people excited about?

So far, Anthro's 40% off sale is the only one tempting me to check out their B&M (since their online selection isn't catching my eye, but more importantly, their shipping costs are ridiculous).

Some of J.Crew's latest markdowns are interesting, but things I like aren't available in my size, and 30% off feels low.
Sephora's touting their sale section, but it's a lot of the same old stuff, with the addition of items from the Estee Edit that is evidently being discontinued.

Nothing from Madewell, although if I go to Anthro today, Madewell is across the street. Maybe they've got something in-store only.

Anyone find anything great at the Nordstrom sale? I have a Nordstrom Rack in town, and with Anne's recent score of some Louboutins, I might see if there's anything special lurking in the shoe section myself.

    1. Monica, my friend told me that I must have scored big because usually those shoes get scooped up by employees. Having a bigger shoe size paid off! No more shopping for me this weekend... I'm calling yesterday's score a win and I'm quitting while I'm ahead :)

      Delete
    2. I saw the Louboutin's on Instagram-wow, wow, wow! My luckiest Rack purchase was Valentino Rockstuds flats that a SA showed me because I happened to be getting the same size mate. I couldn't believe it-$150 and you can bet I bought those babies quickly!
As for any other Memorial Day sales, kind of shopped out. I did spy some options at Factory so I'll give those a try.

      Delete
  21. I headed to the factory store in Gloucester outlets in South Jersey. No sign of retail in the clearance area. :/

That said - great shorts options. Got two pairs for myself of 5 in length ones and picked up three pairs of boardwalk shorts for a friend. $14-18 each with a discount card for 20%. Also got the madras shirtdress ( sized down) and the cotton linen midi skirt in stripe. The skirt has pockets and is a nice summer weight.

    3. NYFW for fall/winter had some goodies, so I'm optimistic about what's to come. I'm also buying goodies from last year if they pop back. Was able to score Collection full length wool serge pants in forest green & leather moto jacket in cassis. Both were great & quality is what you'd expect. I'm in love with this moto style; wore the ash version a bunch.

  25. Has anyone seen/tried the Collins loafers? Am kind of intrigued. Also - any thoughts on if Gemmas will be back for fall or if they are discontinued?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I returned both colors of the most recent Collins loafers which I purchased them to wear with several pairs of my favorite Maddie pants in bi-stretch cotton. I think this shoe is made for narrower feet. I tried on both pairs and just felt like I was gonna be hurtin' after a few hours. I have pretty normal feet (not super wide or anything). I thought about taking them to get stretched, but my philosophy is that if a shoe doesn't feel comfortable after walking around for 5 minutes, then it's probably not the right fit for me. Others may have better luck.

    2. Thanks JenniferD. My feet ARE wide so it sounds like these are a no-go for me. Really appreciate your comments - saved me and order and return!

  29. Collection ruffle tie-neck top in Ratti® sunset coral monkey print item F6003:
I ordered two sizes because a review said it ran small.
First of all, I cannot believe the original price on this was $250. I paid about 1/3 that and I'm contemplating. Initially I liked the coral color which is similar to the elephant print popover, but on it's more orange and less coral, and at least without any makeup, it just looks washed out on me.
The silk is thin and a little scratchy. I have the colorblock collection top in black with the red trim and pink tie and the quality is so much higher. The oddest thing of all though, is that the shirt is different than pictured online. The ties are thinner and the shape is straighter. I only tried on the smaller size and will have to try the larger size as it just fits and I'm afraid it will rip under my shoulders. I love the pattern and at the sale price it's not bad, but I can't believe that it's not what's pictured. It's kind of bizarre.
