This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!
:)
OT: I have a $15 off voucher from Boden that I am not going to use: WZT9P3GBW5B1, expires May 21. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteUsed this! Thank you!
DeleteOT question (since i can't get thru to CS)
ReplyDeletei was shipped something from the store... they charged me $8. i thought it was free. and i was also taxed on it. soooo... not normal, right?
I have never used this option but the banner that comes up on the website does say: try in store pick up for free so I am unsure why you would be charged. I would definitely contact customer service.
DeleteMiss JR, did you have the item shipped TO a store for in-store pickup, or shipped to your home FROM a store? The former should be free, the latter is regular shipping charges. The $8 amount is weird, though.
DeleteFrom the store to my office. I've never been charged before. My VPS has done it before for me. I would have just accepted the $8 shipping fee if that's really what it's supposed to be but I was actually taxed on it as well.
DeleteIn some states tax is charged on shipping and other states do not. Check your state's laws online.
DeleteI usually ask if I can have free shipping but if they charge me shipping it is $8. That is the cost of ground shipping online. I guess they don't have the economy shipping option when ordering from a store? Did they include the shipping cost when they gave you your total? If not, you could prob get them to refund you (since they didn't tell you). I live in NC and we get charged sales tax here.
DeleteNJ. We don't get taxed on clothes. And I've never been taxed on shipping either. Whenever I do have to pay for shipping, it's whatever the cost... Not the cost plus tax.
DeleteI did finally get thru to CS and they said they'd refund me... Which is good... I just don't want to go thru this again. I'm fine with paying for shipping if that's the deal, but I wasn't told I'd be charged and I don't think I should be taxed on it.
I posted a try on if the high waisted short in elephant print with coordinating top on IG @wearthislikethis. Love the fit of the shorts but not sure if the print and color is too loud for me. I'd love to hear thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great on you!
DeleteI like it! The cuteness of a romper without the bathroom hassles of a one piece, and the ability to use as separates as well.
DeleteJust posted another set of pics with a belt. I think it works better like this and can definitely be dressed up or down.
DeleteI can never do rompers or jumpsuits because my torso is too long (I don't really do dresses or one piece bathing suits either!) but I do like the effect!
Lots of different opinions on this one and I'm not sure. Will have to ask sister, mother and husband.
DeleteI think I like it best with out the belt. I think it gives a longer line that way.
DeleteI think it looks good with our without the belt. Without gives the longer line as @ShoppingCelle said, and with adds a bit of detail and contrast that makes it look a bit dressier to my eye.
DeleteThank you, I'm pretty long, and even when I wear dresses I tend to break them up with a belt, so I prefer it with a belt for sure.
DeleteI sent the pics to my mom who is definitely less conservative than I am when it comes to color and she called me and said, "I absolutely love it! You can't always wear black!" I also asked a friend who tends to wear black and dark colors and she said lately she notices (and appreciates) a lot more color out and about (even in NYC) and gets the most compliments when she wears color.
So I'm still thinking about it. ;)
@SuzHas, I'll add my 2 cents. I like both looks. Without the belt you get the illusion of a romper and the sandals give it a more casual look. So perfect for a casual Summer outing.
DeleteWith the belt and the black heels, the hook-up looks more dressy.
Either way, I think it's a winner. Gives you some versatility and you look great in both looks.
Thank you Mary, and everyone. I appreciate your thoughtful responses.
DeleteSort of OT but a question for travelers, inspired by TaraP's Paris trip. (mygoddy here). When we visit new cities/places I love to walk when possible. I am not much of a sneaker person aside from the gym. I've tried some Oxfords with mixed results. D love to find a shoe that looks good dressed up a bit, that works with skirts and shorts as well as jeans/pants, that can be worn for walking miles and miles.
ReplyDeleteI know the "white sneaker" trend is big but not sure it's for me. I don't find converse all that comfortable.
I'm trying to embrace the sneaker trend as well. The Cole Haan ZeroGrande Wingtip Oxfords I bought a few weeks ago and discussed here might for the bill for you: sneaker soles with a dressier upper in lots of pretty colours. I bought mine to wear with pencil skirts when I'm teaching, and hopefully for travel as well.
