Ladies, if you search for "pre-order" on the site, the May style guide items come up! The eyelet dress is in there, the cotton poplin ruffle skirts, and the talitha-like dress. A few other cute dresses I really like but they made really short and don't appear to come in tall sizes. :( I also like that tie-waist skirt but wish it came in solid colors as the floral print is too 60s for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cass for the heads up!
DeleteThanks, Cass! I don't love that Floral print either :-( Agree that it seems too 60s/old Hawaiian print for me. I do like the eyelet shirtdress and I'm happy to see it in white, as I need a white dress for summer. Nordstom's site seemed to say it came in Petite, so I'm hoping the eventual roll-out will confirm this, as, at 4'11" I'm way too short for a 42 inch length.
DeleteYou can wear the cute embossed floral dress I like but is way too short for me at 5'9". :) Yeah the green is showing in petites at nordstrom. Hopefully the white one comes in P too.
DeleteThe one thing I'm eyeing-the ruffle Boatneck sweater in navy. The ruffles are only on the front. Ugh, wth! It's like that lady jacket they made-3 pockets, not 4! I'll still try it...but it better be good.
DeleteI LOVE the floral print but wanted a top of some sort in that print. Just noticed that print is available in my favorite bikini style, so that's what I'm going to get. It does have a very retro feel to it & either you love it or hate it.
DeleteThe eyelet dress is $138 online when the Carlos says $98 and it's $98 at Nordstrom's
Delete*catalog not Carlos lol
Delete@Jazmine, I like what Carlos has to say about the price better! :-p
Delete@Cass, that embossed floral dress looks too short even for me!! (Well, maybe not, but my gosh, that looks really short on the model!) I think 36 inches is the shortest I can go, can't remember.
DeleteCase in point, item G4618, and to a lesser extent G4564, both so cute but ruined with the too short length.
ReplyDeleteFor me personally too many OTS or spaghetti strap items. No strapless bras for me. Too much hassle so they are no go's. Oh well another month with only one or two things added to the wishlist. I like the Ruffle top in Liberty Thorpe floral and Eyelet Dress. I could also do without every sleeveless top having some sort of ruffle detail this year. Some are not that pronounced but I fear they will look dated in a year a two.
ReplyDeleteI just posted a similar sentiment on the vent thread. I've hit my OTS saturation point. I would like some cute summer dresses but I don't want everything to be one shoulder/off the shoulder.
DeleteSame! I don't like to bare my shoulders at all, especially since I'm trying to be careful about sun damage there (when I was much younger, I would get a MAJOR sunburn on my shoulders every.single.summer, so I'm trying to be cautious).
DeleteI just don't even bother looking at the OTS. I tried one on last season and it just rode up the shoulders, very annoying, and then there's the strapless bra hassle, not worth it. Also limited as to where you can wear it--not to work, obviously.
ReplyDeleteI feel like this spring they are heavy on the country girl vibe with all the eyelet, gingham and micro-florals. I wonder if they think that's what the "old j.crew" is supposed to be? I would much prefer a little more sophistication, but there are one or two pieces here or there for me to like.
I agree! Easily dated after a season...

DeleteI really wish they'd come back with some great prints. They're either juvenile-looking (all the fruit) or OTT (i.e. zoological or crazy geometric) lately. Let's have some modern floral or abstract prints. They put out 2 60s-looking floral prints this spring and at least the first one didn't sell well. Let's see how this new one sells.
Deletethey will be in the sale section in no time.
Deleteyes! I've been shopping old prints on eBay/Poshmark mostly these days.
DeleteYes the fruitwear is really annoying - kind of retro kitchen tablecloths and not in a good way
DeleteI don't really get the fruit either. I did buy the cherry print sadies because they are red and black and don't scream fruit, but I know I've seen many other JCAs rocking the produce, so I won't yuck their yum. 😉 it does seem pretty popular.
DeleteLol, I totally agree regarding the fruit! I haven't loved any of JCrew's prints in a really long time. I'm also in the no ots camp and won't wear dresses shorter than 36" or short/cropped tops. I guess I have a lot of fashion "rules"!
DeletePSA for those if you who like the eyelet dress. JCrew jacked the price up on-line from $98 to $138. Make sure you call for an adjustment if you do pre-order!!
ReplyDeleteAlso Nordstrom still has it listed at $98, so you can point to that.
DeleteCustomer Sevice gave me the run around when I mentioned Nordstrom. It was until I mentioned it was priced at $98 in the May catalog that they credited me. (Thanks to Mygoddy for posting on Instagram)
DeleteHa! Yeah kind of hard to jack up the price when you printed in the catalog as $98...

DeleteI was just coming here to post this as I recalled the style guide highlighting the $98 price. Cdn shows $175 but since we don't have a style guide not sure how they'd adjust it. They better fix the price on the site to match the style guide.
DeleteFor a company whose primary business is online only, this is precisely the kind of error they should (for their own sake) be on top of. Their website often has so many glitches and considering every dollar counts, you'd think they'd be on top of these kinds of things in particular. There was a catalog/website pricing discrepancy on a few items last year as well (can't remember which item exactly, but it's happened before.) It also puts customers in an awkward, uncomfortable place, having to argue for the lower price, when it's entirely THEIR mistake. Frustrating.
DeleteNot sure how much of it was error as opposed to deciding the dress might sell well and hoping enough customers wouldn't notice the price discrepancy and just pay the higher price.
DeleteThat's definitely true, it may well have been intentional, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, based on the pricing for similar dresses (like the fringy sheath dress, for example).
DeleteI noticed that the ruffle top, item G5502, is shown as "only $39.50" in the catalog but is showing as $45 on the website right now. I seriously don't understand how they can have these discrepancies?!!
Deleteand thanks to Tara again! Just called and got my PA - and was also told that staff knows about the discrepancy and has been told it's a typo in the catalog and they will honor it. As, of course, they should.
DeleteHTH! That's a pretty big typo/discrepancy. That explanation could work were it not for Nordstrom's pricing. Nordstrom is a huge wholesale customer, so doesn't really make sense.🤔.
DeleteLooks like there's another "typo" on striped lace up shirt dress G5360. I noticed this dress because it reminded me of the honey brown one I bought last year on sale that was shown @ NYFW. $69.50 in catalog vs $98 online.
DeleteWow, I can't believe they're saying its a typo in the catalogue when it is prominently displayed on the page as though they're promoting it like a freak out price. Not cool.
DeleteMaybe I'm a little extreme but it's clear as day in the catalog that the dress is $98 and Nordstrom is selling it for that price. Things like this make me want to shred my J. Crew card and move on.
DeleteI'm calling shenanigans on it being an error, especially if Nordstrom had the price first. It's been off and on their site for a couple of weeks now. With so many pricing games the doubt factor for me is high. I wish they would take a hint if the eyelet shirtdress is in major demand and not jack up the price but maybe offer similar dresses that are not off the shoulder.
DeleteThanks Ladies on all the info on the price differences, wonder if there is a price difference on the lemon cotton Jackie item#-G 3947? Online it's $79.47.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can make out on Tara's (peterst1) Instagram shot of the catalog page- the lemon cardigan is $79.50
DeleteI may be the last person to notice, but there is a "find in store" button on the website. It's about time
ReplyDelete@Kate, I was able to use that feature last week but haven't been able to see it again on my phone or iPad for days and it's driving me crazy! I don't know why it's disappeared for me.
Deletehmm
Deletei will take a look
