More of a vent. For some reason today everything is 30% off, but there is still a banner than says "40% off selected spring styles," but when you add them to your cart and put in the promo code, it's only 30% off.

I noticed that also. I thought that maybe i needed to look at a laptop rather than my phone but it didn't matter. NOW the banner says 40% off sale. Come on JC! And just after I thought kudos were deserved. Maybe it is 40% off sale in-store...???
ReplyDeleteSeeing the same thing here. If I didn't order stuff yesterday w/40% off, I'm certainly not ordering today with only 30% discount.
DeleteExactly. Looks like sale stuff was moving pretty quickly at 40% off. Nothing I want right now, but keep it moving...if the wool/nylon turtlenecks are not selling out at 40% off sale I don't think they will at 30%!
DeleteI love the outpouring of respect and affection for Jenna in the industry and mainstream media this week. It's nice to see the acknowledgement of her innovative role as an avatar for a mass brand. I didn't realize how many Collection customers were at J Crew because of her and will now follow her elsewhere - it may not be a big number, but losing those customers means a less aspirational brand. I'm afraid it really will become Gap.
ReplyDeleteI agree!
DeleteAnd NO for J.Crew turning into Gap. I will have to shop elsewhere.
I was getting dressed for an end-of-term presentation and decided to wear my gorgeous new Ted Baker top. I tried a few jackets before realizing my deep red Pippa jacket was perfect! At least I think that was the name, after all, it's *10* years old! Talk about longevity. I was pretty surprised when I saw 07 on the tag, I guess because the style is so timeless.
ReplyDeleteWhile I love the long sleeve striped maxi I bought yesterday, I don't like that it is 30% off today! Can price adjustments be done over the phone or do I need to go into the store (purchased in store & they asked for my email so I assume it's on some account record)?
ReplyDeleteHi Muffin, PAs can definitely be done over the phone with Customer Service. (If I understand correctly, you bought the maxi in store, right?) CS will ask for information off of your receipt, such as Store#, Transaction#, etc. Quick and sometimes they email you a receipt with the credit amount you're getting back. (Note that this system only works for U.S. Customers, unfortunately. A Canadian JCA tried it, but they told her the system isn't available there. 🙁
DeleteSorry, I'm reading on my phone, so now that I scroll up and re-read, I see that you did purchase in-store. But yeah, should be fine once you call CS.
DeleteThank you so much TM93! I will give it a try before trekking out.
DeleteI'm loving my old silk taffeta a-line skirt in beige. It's a soft, pinky neutral color that goes well with most any other color. Taffeta is dry clean only, but I hand wash mine. The silk changes shape a bit and gets all rumpled (the reason you aren't supposed to wash it with water). It then relaxes a little as it dries. This method means I don't have to dry clean, and the Perfectly rumpled' look turns a special occasion piece into everyday luxe. I don't feel too bad being hard on these skirts (I've gone through a couple), since they are inexpensive on eBay. I'm guessing most people don't wear them much. Anyway, I love them, gets compliments on them, and they feel like me because of the washing.
ReplyDeleteLOVE POST! I got Laila Leopard wedges at J. Crew last night for $5.75....crazy crazy deal. These were originally $158..Also got the mustard cargo pant...I have them in green from last year and those run bigger which was better...and when I went in with an item I bought about 25 days ago they did allow me a price adjustment..so winning night at J. Crew
ReplyDelete96% off....not bad! I think you've just set a new record.

ReplyDeleteSpring finally arrived in my neck of the woods and I was able to wear my new Striped Trench Coat - love it! It goes well with my spring wardrobe and is very flattering. The fabric is the perfect weight and the lining is classic but cute. I wish it had a detachable hood for rainy days but very happy with it overall. Hope I'll be wearing it for several years!
ReplyDeleteNothing to love with what's going on with retail.

Eye-opening read, thanks for sharing. Saddened to think about the jobs that many will lose. It's hard to imagine a marketplace without physical stores - after all, it still feels necessary and even fun, to be able to pick up items in person. (Also, sometimes you need certain things right away, like say, printer ink from a place like Staples.) I don't imagine we'd ever get to that point, but it's also hard to imagine how some of these stores will survive in the end.
DeleteLove the sail boat tee - I think I'm going to size down in this one as it runs a little big. Also like the chambray OTS dress. Still debating on which size to keep, but leaning toward the smaller. The dandelion earrings are adorable... I ordered three colors and am debating whether I should keep them all or just pick one!
