Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. All of a sudden, I want the Holly sweater. I saw a girl at the ice rink wearing one yesterday. She was about 14 and tall and it looked great on her. I have had such bad luck with J Crew pullovers over the years - itchy, too long, pilling, too tight in the arms but loose in the body.

    Does Holly have these problems???

    1. I think the Holly has better proportions than some of JC's recent offerings -- not as tight in the sleeves, loose but not overly so in the body. That said, the sizing seems to vary a lot, so best if you can try on several. HTH!

    2. Flower Power - agree with @cobalt above regarding the fit. I have the Holly and took my normal size in it.

    3. I ordered in blush and it was TTS. Debating if I should keep or return since some of my wool sweaters were eaten by moths . Loved the fit and style and color

  2. Shopping Ban starts today! I'm actually looking forward to taking a break from so much time spent stalking, trying, buying and returning items I don't really need and purchase just because of the frenzy of a promo. I've gotten a lot of inspiration lately from all the JCAs Instas and am going to have fun enjoying the treasures already in my overstuffed closet.

For me, it's a good time for a 3-month ban because there's not much going on in the way of new arrivals and the last thing I need is more of the same stuff that's been on promo forever. I will emerge from my ban just in time for Spring roll outs when I am craving new things for Spring, and will have saved enough $ to buy some special ones.

    2. Ruffles I applaud you and your will power. I'd like to the same, but I always seem to cave after about two or three weeks in. Damn % off with free shipping gets me all the time.

    3. I'm trying to cut back, too! I have a closet full of wonderful, well-fitting clothes that I should be enjoying instead of chasing sales. But like JC Guy in Canada, I have a hard time resisting sale + free ship, so I'm not sure how long I can go without something shiny & new. Aiming for 2 months, would love to go 3 or even 6!

    4. Okay, I'm going to take it a month at a time, but would love to get three months of no shopping under my belt! -lep33shops

    5. I hear you, JCrew Guy. Extra % off plus free shipping is my kryptonite! It's a very personal, individual decision. I veer a little too close to compulsive over shopping at times and this is my way of exercising my willpower muscles :)

    6. Ugh, I'm so there with everything everyone has already said on this thread. I like browsing thru Sale and coming upon a nice popback or item that I want to try. It's a habit I enjoy, but truth be told, there isn't a thing I *really* need and I know I ought to rely on my perfectly-stocked closet. Ack! It's become a resolution and I'd like to see how long I can go. We'll see! (There is a pretty denim skirt that keeps disappearing from the website - think it might be part of the January rollout, but I swear, that would be my last purchase! 😋

    7. I am going to attempt the shopping ban for three months as well. I will make the one time exception for when I receive my rewards cards. I can shop my bursting closet until then. Started the new year by doing a mini clean out. Hope to continue.

    8. SAME! Trying to really clean out stuff I don't wear, and buy nothing for the next few mos.

    9. Me too, I really need to take a break and sort through my closet again. I have a number of items with tags on that I keep forgetting about. Wasted money that I should learn from. Why don't I learn?
Ruffles, you said it exactly - need to take a break from the crazy cycle of buying, returning, stalking. I def bought way over budget the last few months and need to put the brakes on. I have a gift card left over that I'm trying to convince myself to hold onto towards spring items or such down the road. I still have two popbacks arriving this week that need to be the last of shopping for a while if I keep them.

    11. I am totally on board with this. And Lauren, you can hold me accountable here and on IG 😂

    12. +1 on trying not to shop...I spent last week listing on eBay and feeling overwhelmed with my clothing. I, too, enjoy the daily sale section perusal and popback searching. When I sit down to plan my outfits and scroll through my Polyvore closet, I'm reminded of how many great pieces are hiding in my closet!

    2. Thanks, Ina! New job for me back in November, so I'm looking for some Spring clothes, as I have more fall/winter. Hoping for cute pieces to buy! :)

  4. I did a bunch of Christmas returns on Friday. The store was moderately busy and the sale room was full of odds and ends and about 1000 pairs of pants. I had time so I really dug through and tried on lots of items and left with a few gems--Sammie pants, the bright pink Rhodes pants (had bought the blazer earlier in season), the multi colored leather backed sequin earrings. I had originally bought these in white but saw the multi on Suz Has Instagram (pretty sure) and loved them--bottom of the jewelry sale bin for $25 and I am thrilled. My favorite by far was finding the gray Chateau parka in my size. Apparently it had just been returned and as I was buying one of the SAs was on the phone with someone looking for it so I considered myself very lucky!
I have a bunch of pop backs supposed to delivered this week so we'll see what stays, but I too really need to cool it on the shopping for awhile.

    2. My mistake! It was jcrewmycrew account (not sure what belongs to who). They are lovely nonetheless.

  5. We're the chateau parka in grey on sale, still full price online... what store did you buy it?
    Thanks....kate

    1. The chateau parka was not on sale in stores.

    2. Ina is absolutely correct, full price but with all my returns it was kind of like buying it on sale!

  6. Stopped in today and found out that my B&M is closing in 3 weeks. So sad - I've been shopping there for over 10 years. Next closest store is 2.5 hours away. Ironically, they're being replaced with a Zara.

    1. Oh no that's terrible and sad news! I wonder how many stores are closing? I didn't realize a store in Edmonton (Canada) had closed this fall. I hope they're doing well here (in Canada) but I always wonder compared to the U.S.
I'm sure you'll miss it, 2.5 hrs is pretty far.

    2. Sad news indeed. I too wonder how many closings we'll see this year.

    3. Oh, that's terrible! Sorry to hear, for you, for JC, its employees. And yeah, that is ironic, Zara. Guess all those Business Insider are right. Ugh.

    4. silver-lining, are you able to say which store it was??

      Delete
    5. Hi mirielle - I'd rather not say right now based on what I'm about to mention. I was talking to some of the SA's and manager for a while and they had heard about the company filing for some kind of pre-bankruptcy status (can any business-savvy JCA shed some light on this?). They had a lot of opinions on why their store was having a hard time, some similar to what we've been saying here, but it's gone unaddressed by corporate.

      Delete
    6. hey silver_lining - Got it, thanks. The only thing I've read that you probably have heard of as well, is that their bonds are coming due and as part of a possible debt restructuring, they MIGHT separate some of the brick and mortar assets from the intellectual property. Any one else out there who can clarify into laymen's terms??

      Delete
    7. Hi mirielle - yes, I did read that somewhere. I also read recently that they may spin off or sell Madewell (one article on the subject here). Whatever they do, I think 2017 will probably be a year of big change for JC. That being said, if I wasn't familiar with the brand and saw the picture of Spring '17 from the linked Reuters article, I probably wouldn't be enticed to look any further. : /

    8. silver_lining - wow, that pic of Sprint 2017 in the Reuters link!!! Let's hope that is captioning error....because that does not bode well for JC.

    9. Likely need an attorney to sort through the legalese, but pre-bankruptcy definitely suggests company is going to attempt some sort of restructuring to deal with its debt burden. It's evident that J Crew's financial position isn't going to allow the company to pay/service the debt. So, presumably this is a preemptive strike to avoid bankruptcy.

    10. Oh this is so sad! I feel an emotional attachment to my JC clothes in comparison to the others:( ugghh

  7. Yes, I'm trying to cut back as well as it's sickening to see the NWT items in my closet. Going to try to remember if I have similar items in my closet already. Tough love but nessecerry!

  8. I have two pairs of shoes and a shirt on order. The navy fringe pair that I ordered still hasn't shipped but I really don't care at this point. The order is being fulfilled at a store so someone else probably already bought them before they could get pulled. I am shopped out. The stalking, price adjustments, etc...I have more than plenty to shop at home.
