Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Hi all! Boden has a 20% off diminishing discount promo going on right now. I wrote more about the sale here at this post. The 20% off portion of the diminishing discount ends today, sadly. Tomorrow it goes to 15%, and on Friday, it will be for 10% off.

    1. Thanks for this, Dina. They have some silver slingbacks that look very similar to JC's Lucie for $86. Cute!

    2. Those slingbacks are a hit, from what I have been reading. One of the blog reviews out there was very positive, so I hope they work out for you!!! :)

  3. Kate Spade Saturday has a new "strata stripe" print that might interest some of you -- I really liked the miniskirt, scarf, and flats.

  4. I had mentioned buying sandals from '& other stories' in the prior JCrew-like thread. I'm wondering if any of you have bought from them. I'm loving the look of their clothing and accessories. But the shipping cost is so awful, I had to use a forwarding service because they don't ship to the US. (Don't even ask me what I'm going to do if the sandals don't fit or I hate them IRL. Hellooooo eBay!) DHL says my package is being delivered today, hooray. I bought the sandals shown in my user picture. I will report back as soon as I've tried them on.

    1. I received my shoes. I was almost afraid to open the boxes (I bought 2 pair)! It was a major investment for items that would be practically impossible to return. I was thrilled when I tried them on, I love the way they look and feel. I think these may be the coolest shoes I've ever owned. The forward2me forwarding service is awesome and their personal shopping service is very reasonably priced (I paid roughly $12), but the DHL shipping cost from the UK to the US can take your breath away, it was almost as much as one pair of shoes! In this case it was worth the cost. The stories website does have some awesome clothing. I've got my eye on a black cupro coat, and a black dress.

    2. Here's a link to the shoes I bought, they are the Block Heel Sandals.

    3. I shouldn't have said the shipping was almost as much as one pair of shoes. Each pair of shoes were 65 pounds. The shipping was 37 pounds. So expensive shipping but I just wanted to clarify so nobody thought the shipping was 60+ pounds.

  5. This isn't really an appropriate thread, but I want to share that I have created a wardrobe plan for the first time in my life, and it's so helpful! I've completed my spring-summer plan and will do the same later on for fall-winter. I have already trimmed down my wardrobe considerably (I have more work to do), and now when I shop I'm much more discriminating. If the object of my attention does not work in the plan, or if I already have something similar, then I don't buy. Sometimes I struggle, but so far the plan has won every time. Saving money is not my top priority but I am already saving money. I can't even count the number of times in the past month I've bypassed buying something that pre-plan I would have purchased without a second thought. For a person who has a serious overspending problem this kind of planning is very helpful, I'm sure. One thing I've found, the planning is very nearly as satisfying as actually shopping, and there's no guilt!
