Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. I loved the Banana Republic Chambray Shift (item #633076) when I saw Gigi wearing it on her blog (thanks Gigi!) so I ordered two sizes to try. It is 70% lyocell, 30% cotton. I wear a 10 in J. Crew dresses and I ordered a 10 and 12 in the Chambray Shift. The 10 fit and looked good, but was a bit close. I was much more comfortable in the 12 and that is the one I am keeping. The 12 still had that fitted look. It wasn't too short on me (5'4"). It's $110 but I bought it using a promo code so keep an eye out if you like it, BR seems to have a lot of promotions.

    1. cate - I liked that dress! If I got it, I would've sized up. I think it's running small. Thanks for the mention :)

  4. I ordered a pair of shoes from a UK website, & other stories, which is apparently an upscale H&M offshoot. They don't ship to the US so I had to sign up with a forwarding service. (I used forward2me.) The shipping cost is pretty horrible but I want the shoes so badly and they are only offered on the stories web site. I just paid the shipping today so I'll let you all know how it works out when they arrive. Wonderful clothes on the stories website, I'm thinking about going back for a coat and a dress.

Bought some things on sale on Zara too. Not sure why the Cotton Trench Coat is still available in two sizes, I got mine last week and it's fantastic! It will make a great spring coat. I'm so tired of wearing my North Face rain jackets, I want something more modern. Also, in spite of the beautiful colors for spring and summer, I'm shifting to minimalist dark colors (navy, grey, black) with white and ivory accents. I was surprised by the quality of the Zara coat, nice fabric, nicely made too.
