Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I have a couple of blouses on hold so I will be definitely going.

  2. I'm not really interested in going to a store, but I might if I end up at a mall that has one.

There are about 16 price differences between online & retail. See the top of the Sale Irl Pic Guide

    1. Of course there may be more. Some are ones I've seen. Some are ones shared by JCAs.

  3. Ordered some stuff from factory yesterday. I had to call them to apply the rewards card because they wouldn't give me the info because of security reasons (eye roll) and I haven't gotten them in the mail yet. I wish they would just let me download a pdf attached to the credit card account.

Anyway. Snowed in with a leaky roof so I'm not going anywhere this weekend. Fingers crossed my factory order fits and there aren't any holes in stuff like last time. :/

I'd love to hear back about the new arrivals from those ladies who are going out though!

  5. I have a return and hopefully there will be a new promo worth going for.

  6. I'm kind of off of J. Crew right now so I won't be going in. A bit of overload from the 40% off promos, I think.

  7. Has anyone seen or tried on the Liberty Mixed-Floral Pleated Top in Lavender? If so, how does it fit? TTS? Size up or down? I'm possibly considering getting it with the matching flats but also worry it will be too much. Has anyone tried on the Eastwood jeans?

    1. The jeans are very oversized. They fit a lot like the vintage straight jeans. For reference, I'm 2 sizes smaller in the vintage straight or the Eastwoods as compared with Toothpicks. One or two sizes smaller than I am in the Matchsticks (depends which Matchsticks). The Eastwoods are higher waisted and kind of mannish looking. I think they are meant to be rolled. The seams are turned the way they are in the photos. It's not that noticeable because they're a slouchy unstructured jean. I don't think they are anything special, tbh.
The chambray shirt they show them with in the catalog picture is the same Japanese selvedge shirt that they sold a few years ago.

    2. Thanks Cate! If I had known twenty years ago that jeans would deteriorate into these paper thin, elasticized yet strange versions they are today, I would have bought a warehouse full of thick Levi 501s that washed into great faded colors and sell them at $300. a pair today.

      Delete
    3. The Eastwood jeans are a lot like an old pair of men's Levis, actually! lol! That was exactly the vibe I got, you nailed it. I don't think there was any stretch in them and they weren't paper thin, just like an old pair of men's Levis.

      Delete
    4. For me that might not be so bad, I like the old thick denim that used to wash into great shades over time. I feel like denim feels cheap now.

      Delete
    5. I don't dislike them, but they aren't worth $168 to me. They were not flattering on me, but they felt great on in an old pair of jeans kind of way. I'd definitely wear them/buy them at a better price because I like my jeans like that sometimes. You might like them if you like that kind of thing too. If you order them, remember that they are very oversized.

  8. No store visit for me. I *finally* got my rewards card, just in time to buy nothing I'm interested in that's not availble in my size even if I am. Speaking of which, has anyone seen the Martie boot in store? I am all of a sudden obsessed with finding a pair in black but they are not available in my size online.

  9. Finally got into a store and tried on a lot of new arrivals here for those thinking of taking advantage of the current promo.

  10. Stopped by my local J.Crew yesterday (South Coast Plaza in OC) and they were doing an extra 30% off sale items. Nothing on my list though - seemed like lots of beach cover ups/tunics/and some leftovers from the last round of cuts.

  11. For those of you interested in the New Balance 620 sneakers and who live in the Boston area, the New Balance outlet has a ton in that style for $30-50 and there's a 20% sale this weekend. Tons for kids too.

  12. A bit OT but accidentally did a blank search on factory website and came across quite a few retail special occasion, bridesmaids dresses listed around $60 each. There's even a wedding gown. Lots of sizes and colors available.

    ReplyDelete
  13. So, are people receiving their rewards cards or not? In previous cycles, we've also gotten an e-mail with the card number so we could use it online. I'm not in a hurry to order anything so I'm not going to call CS to get the number - just wondering if anybody else has gotten theirs in the mail.

    1. I got mine today, and the amount was different than the amount they told me on the phone (it was twice what they told me). I'd already used the amount they told me. I have no idea what is going to happen when I try to use it, whether there will be half the amount or ?

      Delete
    2. I got mine in the mail today, but I never got the email I usually get before the actual card arrives. Expires 3/15.

    3. Mine came today. I've mentally spent it three times by now!

    4. I got mine today too. Can it be applied to a purchase from last week? I'm going to find out soon.

    5. Got mine today as well. I'm kind of surprised it's only $25.

  14. Have any of you tried the Factory trench coat? I want one, but I'm not sure where I should purchase it from, and I'm not sure if I want to go with retail either. Any ideas?

    1. I bought my daughter the factory trench a year and a half ago. She went to live in Europe for a year and we both knew she needed one. After looking around at quality and price, we figured we'd order the factory one (it was marked down). She was pleased the moment she opened the box. Color is nice, fit is excellent, and lining is good. When she came home in August it immediately went to the dry cleaner. It still looks new after almost every day wear. And my daughter is tough on clothes. I think itwas a great purchase

    2. FriendlyFemme - A trench coat is a staple and should be invested in accordingly. Buy the best that you can afford. I've purchased cheap trench coats over the year and never wore them. They seemed like great deals and I was excited about the price, but all that faded when I went to wear them. I'm sure I've lost at least $150 in buying cheapies and that could've been spent buying something better.

I had a BR trench that I loved and paid about $120 for, retail $198. Old ootd pic here. Dry cleaning ruined the buckles at the wrists and some of the buttons, so I had to let it go. For comparison, I thought the Old Navy trench was great in a dark green. I bought & never wore it. Pic here of the ON one in tan. I wish I had time to make a blog post about it instead of blathering on here. But we're here for fashion, right? You can jump between the 2 photos and easily tell the difference in quality.

As far as J Crew's trenches, I tried the icon and the color was off for my skin tone. There are so many shades of that khaki tan, so that will also drive your final choice. My biggest advice is don't settle. Get the fit right. And if it's not right, but you love it...have it tailored. I was surprised when I was able to wear my trench coat up to 5 months pregnant. Open, of course. I got the cost/wear down really low so I was sad when it was ruined, but didn't feel horrible about it.

    3. I've had the BR trench Gigi was talking about since 2008 and I spot clean it. It's a great piece and I usually pair it with a Burberry scarf so people assume it's Burberry (even Burberry SAs!). With that said, I think you just need to find one that is flattering and where the color matches your skin tone. I haven't been impressed with JC in terms of cotton-based trenches and would recommend BR or Club Monaco if you're not petite.

    4. Truth: own top brand $$ trenches and inexpensive ones. I actually like the inexpensive ones the best! I have bought trenches in the US and UK. The ones from New Look and Dorothy Perkins (UK) and one I got from Walmart (yes...get tons of compliments on it) are my favorites vs my JCrew or London Fog ones.

    5. Thanks for the replies! I definitely need to shop around some more.

    6. My favorite trench coat is actually from Forever 21 (crazy, I know). But it's lined(!) with a nice striped fabric and is at least as well made as a trench from Gap or Banana. It also fits really well. Definitely shop around...and don't knock a coat til you've seen it in person!

    7. Don't be afraid to try unusual fabrics and designs. I have been looking for my perfect classic trench for years now and along the way I have picked up some that are a statement all of their own. Taupe leather, silver satin, black faille, light gold acetate, forest green silk...they are all beautiful pieces that tide me over fabulously until my trench love-at-first sight.

  24. Also: Has anyone noticed that some of the necklaces with gold chain links are now weirdly lightweight and almost DON'T feel like they're made with metal? For example, you don't get that "clink" when the links hit each other.

    1. Yes! I noticed it can sometimes feel almost plasticky-more like some of the factory pieces I've seen but still the high prices. And I have bought a s-ton of their jewelry over the years so I definitely know/see/FEEL the difference you describe.

  26. Anyone have comments on the Collection Cate Sequin Dress? I'm super tempted to get it while on promo (I am internally fighting with myself- where/when am i going to ever wear this vs. man what if I need a great dress I shouldn't pass this up...) but not sure of fit- some shifts I need a 4 sometimes 6. I feel like these are sewn sequence it maybe tight around the hips-but what if it's huge I can't really get it taken in cause it's all sequins...augh!

  27. Help JCAs. Bought something online but before the 50%off. Haven't worn it, tags still on, but can't find the original packaging it came in. Can I still return it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. savvyshopper - I can't think of a case where you need the original packaging. The most important thing is having the tags on, which you do and the invoice. Even if you don't have the invoice, if you just give them the order #, they can key that in to process your return. They don't scan the plastic bag like they do at the Gap family stores, so you don't need it.

    2. Thank you Gigi. As usual, you rock!

    3. I've printed out the shipping confirmation when the packing slip or receipt has vanished, staff has been appreciative of the shortcut.

      Delete
    4. WFF - Save your time & paper. You only need to give them the order#. I've written on a Post-It (small, no waiting for our geriatric printer). I've also recited order #s to cashiers from my phone after pulling up the confirmation or shipping email.

  28. Can't check out.... is it my computer or JCrew's website? Not even the code is working...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I bet it's their site. It will probably be up and down all weekend, and they will likely not update the sale section until after the 50% is over. But this will definitely cut the sale section way down.

      Delete
    2. Thank you, silver lining. Of course, all the 70+ jewelery that was on the sale section until a few days ago suddenly disappeared...

      Delete
    3. The problem is probably that one of your items in your cart is no longer available. This is an ongoing problem. It doesn't identify which item is unavailable, so you have to guess. Move them one by one to your Wishlist (Save) until the discount is applied to the rest of your cart. Then you can try moving the items back from Wishlist to Cart one by one. At least one of them will at that point be Out of Stock. It's really annoying, but I'm sure this is the problem. Good luck.

  29. I've been wanting a camel colored coat for a long time. The dark camel Metro coat is darker than what I was envisioning, but I like it and know that the cut works for me, so I purchased it, along with a V Nceck cashmere sweater in camel.

  32. Oh and one more thing. If there is anyone in the crewniverse that has not grabbed the pear bracelet (# a1159) it is an awesome deal today at $24.99 + 50% off and still available. For some reason it does not show up when you pull up the sale jewelry category. Just enter pear bracelet in the search box.

  33. There were popbacks, but the stock was depleted last night (I couldn't sleep and was up between 1AM and 3AM hemming and hawing over buying a coat) and so it was hard to really see what else was added this AM. But I did notice new items online at 7AM ET.

They had camo boyfriend jackets, some pearl neclaces, some square crystal necklaces, the orange embroidered boyshort and lots more.

  36. At the Westfield mall in SF and even though the store has 30% off sale they honored the prices AND 50% off from online! All sales final though. I picked up a "nobody's perfect" tee for less than $20 including tax! The store has a ton of them as well as the amour tee (no discount in-store but I think it's sold out online).
