J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. OT, but this morning my order status changed from "Released" to "Open." What does this mean?

    1. WFF - You just got the "its not you, it's me line." lol Just working w/Hexicon's boyfriend analogy from eons ago. Still very memorable.

Actually I've never had that happen. My guess would be that they thought the warehouse was going to fill it, they didn't and are now looking to a store to do it. I have absolutely no idea, but that's the thought that 1st came to mine. Will light a candle for your order.

    2. I agree with this. I placed an order with MW for the olive transport tote the morning that their 30% promo started (last Wednesday?). It remained "Open" for days and then I got a call yesterday that it was going to be cancelled but they were fairly certain they could fulfill it from a store if I still wanted it.

    3. Candles may have worked. Just got shipping confirmation.

Now let's all hold hands and wonder what's actually in the box.

    4. That's a good first step fred! The item I received today from the 50% promotion is shop worn, back it will go. I really hate when they ship from stores without telling you that up front.

    5. Cate, that's awful!
The earliest of my items to ship arrived today, and I wa on the phone within seconds about its condition. That'll be me tomorrow morning, grouchy lady with shopping bag waiting for the store to open.

    7. Ugh, OK ladies, I won't fret that most of my order placed Sunday has not shipped. It would probably be all used, shopworn stuff anyway.

  5. I tried and bought the misty fog floral popover ($69.99 in-store, pre 30%), which I had not been attracted to at all based on stock photos. It is so versatile and spring-like to me--love the print in-person. IMO, the larger 'medallion' shape of the print widens the model in the stock photo, and isn't attractive to me, but I found it MUCH less obvious in person. I sized up due to tightness in the shoulders, because it bugs me when I can't move my arms ;) I picture this with dark jeans, white jeans, light jeans, and the coral flowers match the coral madewell denim jacket I bought last season. Love, and recommend!

  8. the moonglow paisley is a very cute print but had to size up so my arms could move without fear of tearing up the light silk...am undecided on that one, it's pretty but so light plus no lining so sweating in hot weather won't look pretty :(

    1. ebelandi.com - I tried on both tee (1st time) & silk moonglow (2nd time). My vps told me to get the tee. I did & am happy w/it. Don't want the sweating issue either. Uniqlo's HeatTech has been mentioned here & on a couple of blogs. I'm going to check it out in the future.

  9. Off Topic: RE: Toothpick jeans/classic rinse - FLAW. (My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere in the blog,or if this is the wrong place to post). I have purchased several pair of these jeans over the past year and a half - I absolutely love the way they fit. I am 5'3", 120lbs, not particularly athletic (as a size reference). My first pair was a 29, which are admittedly too loose. I now get 27s. I have two issues that I'm interested to know if anyone else has: 1) EVERY SINGLE PAIR (no matter the size), wears out in the crotch so badly that they completely rip and are irreparable. I treat my jeans like gold: cold wash, inside out, line dry. I don't wash them after every wear. At $125 a pop (looks like they're now $115), that's a little much. I can see for a $50 pair of jeans, but it hurts to have to spend that much on something that wears out so completely, and so quickly. 2) the classic rinse (dark) bleeds continuously. I know that this is normal for the first wash or two - but six months later and still my legs are blue?! It's definitely not as bad after six months - but if I use a white washcloth on my leg, it will come off with blue on it. Does anyone else have either of these problems with this particular jean? I also get the Matchstick in size 27 (dark wash) - and have never had the fabric wear through, or color-transfer after the first wash. It's a shame, because the Toothpick are just the right fit for me (only in this fabric - the twill, cords, midrise, etc all look funny). Would be interested to hear others' ideas...or is it just me?

  10. I received my floral jacquard mini and found several loose threads unraveling from the seam and around the skirt. I question the quality if it has never been worn and is already unraveling. Anyone know if customer service would let me return it even though it's final sale?

  11. Sharing reviews here of the stripe-merino wool sweater, merino tipped side-panel v-neck sweater, moonglow paisley silk tee & moonglow linen tee.

The moonglow tops are still regular price online vs $69.99 & $34.99 in-store. As of the other day, the stores were still running an addtl 30% off final sale.

  12. Does anyone have any feedback/reviews for the Jcrew factory Frankie Chino? I'm wondering if it is like the Andie? Is sizing consistent with the Andie?

  13. I am wondering the same thing about the Frankie Chino.
I assume the Addison Chino is a 'Favorite Fit'.. and teh 'skimmer' is a 'Minnie.?
