Groundhog, Shmoundhog: 25% Off at J.Crew

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know about the following promotion this morning.

J.Crew is offering an additional 25% off purchases of "what you need for Spring" items over at J.Crew using promo code BRINGSPRING. This offer expires February 8, 2014. The fine print for this offer includes:
*Offer valid on purchases of "what you need for spring" styles at jcrew.com from February 6, 2014, 12:01am ET through February 8, 2014, 11:59pm ET. Offer applies only to items listed in the "what you need for spring" assortment at jcrew.com. Offer not valid in stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. To redeem, enter code BRINGSPRING in the promo code box at checkout. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
I was very excited about this promo at first because I thought it was a universal code. After reading the fine print, it is only applicable to pre-selected items. Double-check the item page to see if the item you are interested is included in this offer.

Where I live, we have a winter-weather advisory for cold temperatures and black ice. Tanks and shorts are the furthest thing on my mind! However, to my surprise, there are a lot of not-necessarily-Spring items that are partaking in this offer- including jackets, handbags and jewelry!

The main item I am excited to see: the Schoolboy Blazer in Black (item 05157, $198.00). This is the type of investment piece that works all year round.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, what items are you interested in?

  1. I agree that it's pretty shocking to see some of the new jewelry pieces in this promo, and I DO really love the deco arrowhead necklace. but I've had such issues with j. crew jewelry lately - arriving broken, missing jewels, etc. - that I still don't feel totally comfortable paying more than $100 for a necklace, even on promo. I'll wait a few weeks, hope it doesn't sell out, and buy it when it goes on sale.

oh, and every time j. crew has a promo that doesn't include the new balance sneakers, I become enraged. they are now sold out in every color but neon lime and neon mango - which were the two shades I've wanted all along. I would bite if ANY PROMO could be applied to them. sigh.

    1. I would not even pay $100 for costume jewelry esp. from J.Crew. I got the pear bracelet for $16 total with tax. That is all it is worth. Pretty. Most I would pay for a necklace is about $40-45.

    2. oh yeah, absolutely. I have not paid more than $55 for a necklace from j. crew, and I always wait for extra percentage off sale and stack my student discount. they're pretty pieces, but I just don't like paying full price at j. crew for anything, really.

    3. Often, name brands won't let a retailer sell their merchandise unless they contractually agree to exclude items from sales or promos. This happens with Saks and others, so that may be the issue with New Balance and J. Crew. Hope this makes you feel a little less enraged!

    1. I believe I have seen it at Net a Porter - although it's called something else. http://www.net-a-porter.com/product/410334

    2. oh wow, thanks! too bad they don't have my size, but maybe this will help others who were interested in this jacket too.

  3. There were so many things I wanted to try. I was surprised by the number of shoes included in the promo. At any rate, I picked up the French print popover and the Boy Shirt in white. I was also interested in the Capris, but have no idea if they will fit, and so will wait until I can go into a store to try them on.

Oh--lots of pop backs in the sale section this morning . . .

  4. Very disappointed this was not a universal code. Some items included were less expensive before (ie, varsity stripe dress was on sale + 40% off and now only 25% off full price). Maybe I'd be happier if some of my wishlist items were included? Probably. Regardless, I'd still be waiting for that elusive rewards card before making any purchasing decisions. They shouldn't tease us with these cards for 6 weeks.

    1. yes, I noticed the varsity stripe dress too! I paid $33 for that during the most recent sale by getting 50 percent off the $78 online price and then using my student discount on top of it. and now it's back to $98? no thanks.

  5. Big whoop. So few items and none of the few things I am interested in. Completely lame.

  6. The email mentions sales in store too, but doesn't specify what. If anyone visits a store today and gets the scoop, please share!

    1. My store wasn't advertising the sale and they gave me the "one time courtesy exception" line when I asked for a PA. They say the website states it is online only.

  7. I was disappointed in the swimsuit selection (obviously all the swimsuit that I wanted to try, like the new neon bikini, are excluded)..However I am.happy because I am entitled tp a price adj. on the French popover and the abstract wave capri. That's a nice gift (that I am going to reinvest in something else).

  8. Just mentioned in an earlier thread that I'm dying to try those Cleo eyelet loafers, but at $186 after promo, they're still a bit much for me right now...just scored a few pairs of shoes on eBay and also need more basic outfit componets, not to mention a trip to the salon to get re-blonded ; ) Fingers crossed they'll be back on sale (and in stock) again in a while, or maybe I'll find them on eBay. SO CUTE though...

  9. I placed a small-ish order yesterday and just called and they honored the 25% off on the eligible items (most of them). So finally a "yay" to J.Crew!!

  10. Ugh, they got me and my wallet with this promo. I bought the French print popover last week in store. Good thing I haven't taken the tags off yet because now I get it for even less. I also purchased the jacquard baseball cap (have been waiting for this to go on sale) and one of the liberty print bathing suits. We'll see if that works out.

    1. I also bought the French print popover in store a couple of days ago. Is it possible to somehow get a PA, or do I need to order a new one online with the promo and return the one I bought?

    2. If it's only been a couple of days, you should be able to get a PA.

  11. Like many, disappointed by the promo selection. Still so wintery here and shorts are not even on my mind until literally --- May! But, I am heading to Cancun in March for my long-awaited honeymoon so I may have to pick up a few promo items.

  12. I am dissapointed what they picked as promo items:(

  13. Yeah really want to know the deal in store. If it's good then I'll probably get something with my student discount on top! :D

  14. What I need for spring is green grass and a 30 degree increase in temperature!

  15. Ditto to most of the comments about this promo. It's nice if what you had on your wish list is included but everything I wanted isn't on promo. I guess I'll wait until a better promo, until rewards come out and until the snow melts!

  16. Well, website is not loading... I have tried a few times already.

  17. The website won't load for me either. It's been happening off and on all day... ;(

  18. for those wanting to stock up on colors for the fluted skirt in double crepe, this promo is perfect. the neon yellow will probably eventually get reduced the way the baroque blue did, but i don't think the other colors will be any cheaper than this.

  19. Website still not loading. Pretty frustrating.
I guess it's a sign that I shouldn't spend any money with this promo.

  20. Wow. Big problems on the site, huh? Well, okay, then. Only wanted to give the sail away tank a try at the 25% off, but unless some IT miracle happens, not today. Oh, well. I am with maryeb, it's a sign. :-)

  22. OT, since the JCrew website is down I checked out Anthropologie and their Surface Figure Heels are just ( or are??) like the Etta's and made in Italy. Very cute prints, and a reasonable price point.

    1. Thanks for the tip. Love the silk brocade, but that heel is really high. Do the Etta's have a 4.5" heel?

  23. Totally OT-I won a J crew houndstooth coat from 2006 on ebay. When I received it, the poor coat's lining was ripped out. The seller never disclosed that fact. The coat was $60 including shipping, but it will cost $150 to reline the coat by a tailor. Should I just wear the coat w/o lining and save $150 or just suck it up and pay the amount so I can wear this nice coat? THT

    1. I would contact the seller if it was me. That is a serious issue that they should have disclosed. The seller will ideally offer to refund part of the purchase price or allow you to return the item.

      Delete
    2. I would contact the seller too. I guess choices are you either bought yourself a lined coat for $210, an unlined coat for $60, or you return the coat to the seller. Any discount the seller might give you wouldn't make a dent in that tailoring cost.

    3. you can file an Item Not As Described case against the seller requesting all fees back

  24. For the French print popover, should I get my normal popover size or size down?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Is your regular popover size also your regular shirt size? In that case yes. But if you size one up in popovers I would size down and take your regular size. Hope it makes sense!

      Delete
    2. Yeah, I typically wear a 4 in popovers and a size small in shirts unless it's really big.

  25. OMG. The website is SO frustrating right now. I literally just want to pop on and buy a headband for my daughter and the pages just aren't loading. weird.

    1. I was told that the blizzards are affected the online performance. Apparently the stores were unable to process online returns for a period of time today. They had to call them in to cust service to be processed.
