  1. I was so excited to see this email. And then when I looked at the Jcrew website I realized that the cashmere sweater that has been on my wishlist forever (and has been on sale for awhile) is now back up to regular price! I'm definitely disappointed, but as least it saves me a little money since I'm not too interested in anything else right now.

    1. Same, the items I would have purchased are all back up to full price. Oh well.

  2. I purchased the painter tee in colorblock as well as the Blah Blah Blah tee. I challenged myself to buy only 20 items for 2014, so I hope these semi-impulsive/not planned purchases aren't regrettable later in the year. :)

  3. I wasn't up early, but when I checked there were 1100+ in womens sale. The big sale section is much smaller when the 50% promo started. I'm still glad to see a sale promo, though.

  4. Well armed with a $25 rewards card, I decided to bite on the full-length minnies in bi-stretch wool in olive in the tall 8. I do not necessarily think these will come to me, since we all know about J. Crew's shipping/stock issues, but hey, at less than $30 for these, I am willing to give it a go. If they do ship and they do fit, I am going to be stoked.

I blame all you JCAs for your fab reviews of these pants, such enablers. ;) I have a pair of wool minnies from the very first year they made them (I think they had been dubbed collection that first time--though they don't really seem very special, imo), and they are one of the few pairs of pants that look okay on me. So crossing fingers and hoping these work out too. :)

  5. Yep, lots of price changes. They're noted at the top of the new Sale Irl Pic Guide.

  6. And the Rubbery-est Price of the Week goes to...the stripe-sleeve tee, reviewed here.

    2/11 promo - $33.50
    2/13 - back to fp
    2/14 - promo $34.50
2/15 - still on promo, but increased to $39.50

    It's $34.99 in-store on 2/12 + 30% off.

Addtl 30% off final sale is still going. They're not doing an addtl 50%.

I do love the tee very much. Thinking of getting a backup.

  7. I did pick up some basics that I know and love and will be used frequently: 2 kikis and 2 suede darbys and the majesty peacoat in navy.

  8. This is maddening, stuff I am thinking of buying are sold out, like the tippi sweater in grey, not available in my size. The merino wool sweater also not available. There is one sleeveless jeweled top I am interested in, but it won't get me free shipping so I am skipping this sale. Looks like those hideous sweaters are up for grab, not like anyone will want it. Couldn't think of who on earth will buy those sweaters.

  9. I've had a lot of sale items in my wish list so when I got the email this morning with the 50% off promo I was stoked. So I check out the website this morning- none of the items are on sale anymore :(

I am looking at the marled drop-shoulder sweater. Has anyone tried this on ? Does it run small/large, is it a heavy knit? It's final sale so I'm not sure I want to bite.

  10. I bit on the floral jacquard mini and tipped silk tee in bohemian red. I had a gift card thanks to Gigi, so I got some good deals.

    1. Friendly Femme, I bought the floral jacquard mini too. I had already tried it in store so I was confident about the size. I wear a 4 in pencils and size up to a 6 in this and other minis so I can wear them lower on my hips to make them a little less mini. I think it will look nice with a navy lightweight merino v-neck sweater and maybe the blue fanned leaf necklace if I can find it on popback. I also picked up the jeweled fairisle sweater and the silver/gray bar stripe tee.

  11. Super excited to get a PA on my Sperry flannel chukkas that shipped a couple days ago; also ordered a few things for my kids, and the antiqued floral top. I'm starting to feel like a crazy lady in all my floral prints, but I love 'em!

  12. Since the last 40% off final sale promo, I've been wishing and wanting and stalking the Floral Jacquard dress & Collection Italian silk shirtdress. I got the Floral Jacquard dress on a popback even without the extra % off promo last week. But waited on an additional promo for the Italian shirtdress (and since size 0 wasn't available, didn't want to splurge on a larger size that would need alteration).

Today I checked and the shirtdress is sold out (?) in ALL sizes! How aggravating! =(((

    1. I thought that I was the only one! With the mysterious disappearances from my wishlist, it's down to half its original size. Sigh

  13. And just like that everything vanished from my wish list! I did get the embroidered dot button up-good basic and somehow a dot shirt was missing from my wardrobe. I also got the black sequin Etta's- I hope they ship & fit. Now I really need to stop shopping sales and make a spring/summer plan. Would love to read some posts about if/how people plan for the upcoming seasons.

  14. I got the cable-knit pocket sweater in snow, in my usual size M. This is the third thing I've bought since Christmas, a record low for me. I should change my handle to LilShopper.

  15. Happy girl here, conditionally. I pulled the trigger, using rewards card, which had arrived a few hours earlier, and the "late delivery" gift card. Haven't been pining for all that much, but I do hope this order ships.

  16. Picked up two coats I've been eyeing for awhile - the majesty peacoat in navy and the boyfriend fatigue jacket in camo. I'm going to need some styling ideas for the camo jacket though!

  17. I purchased the Darby Loafer in black suede for a second time this month. The first pair I received were visibly worn and probably a used return which I then returned. Hopefully quality control will be better this time.

  18. i was perusing the site around 1 am EST when I saw the promo go up, so I started going through my size. Saw the Sail Away v-neck tank swimsuit on sale for $79.99 with the 50% off final sale, but couldn't pull the trigger because I was unsure of the sizing. I put it in my cart, then got up this morning and called CS for measurements. To my surprise, when I went to find the item #, my shopping cart had been emptied of the 6-7 items I placed there just 8 hours ago, and the swimsuit was back to regular price for $98! When I asked CS wtf, they honored the 50% off without the final sale part. Aggravating part though was that they still don't have complete measurements, so I ended up buying two sizes. And 50% off $98 is still 49.99 per suit, even though 8 hours ago it was $39.99 with the 50% off.
    So frustrating!

  19. I was very surprised to see the extra 50% off this morning, thinking it would probably be another 30 or 40% off again instead. The extra 50% off is definitely working to get the ever-lingering merchandise moved out of the final sale section, although they really shouldn't have waited so long to offer it. Better late than never though!

There are a few new promo-priced items, as well as some new markdowns, too. I've updated the J.Crew Promo-Priced Items & Markdowns list with the newest additions:

  20. Rubbery prices indeed. I bought the navy eaton pants early this morning at $59 (half off $118) and now price is up to $138. Same with the grey which I bought for $45 at net-a-porter last December.

  22. Like most everyone else, a lot of the stuff that I wanted is MIA for this sale. Still, I made a small order. In the final sale category, I picked up the silk pajama shirt to match the pants I got earlier in the season (I love the way it feels), the Cate cami in gilded tweed for my mum and a girls ballet flat and a couple of leggings for my little cousin. I also got the silk cami and Liberty Katie Anne french top & shrunken hipster on promo. A bikini at this price at the beginning of the season? Sign me up. And it's not final sale!

  23. Placed three orders today:)
Got the firls Edie bag for $15 and the blahblah tee for me.
Also got lots of stuff for my sister which my husband will take with him to Germany in march: got the black/white boyshirt, the barstripe tee, grey tippi and a PJ pant!

    1. What Goldsign jeans did you get, and can you review them when they arrive? I've been eying the Jeane jeans forever, and can't find any sizing reviews anywhere! They're a bit pricey for me to splurge on final sale if they don't fit, and I've yet to find them in a store in my size to try on.

    2. Hi eeps - Curator commented on the Jeane jeans in this post. HTH!

    3. I got the jenny and the glam jean. I have the jenny already and ordered it in the lighter wash. The jenny is a higher waisted jean, feels like a true boyfriend jean. Slim through the hips and leg, the bum was slightly loose one me (I don't have much of a backside) but it kinda goes with the boyfriend look.... the denim feels so nice. some folks complained about distressing where the cuff folds, but it was very minimal on mine. Definitely worth the sale price IMO! I'll post back on the glam jean which is a skinny crop.

  25. I just made a factory order. If J. Crew had a 25 percent off an entire purchase, there are several things I would have bought. Oh, well. Just will wait. And I hope my rewards are in the mailbox! I'm not going out in the snow to check. Maybe The Husband will. LOL.

I'm also curious to see what impact the recent snow will have on their warehouse operations/restocking practice. Central Virginia got hit pretty hard, and the J. Crew Lynchburg employees (and UPS) are just now digging out.

  29. I emailed jcrew to ask if they could apply my student discount to my order (I know this isn't customary but it can't hurt to ask and often they do honor it) and they emailed me back a new response:
"Thank you for reaching out about your recent order. I apologize, but our student/teacher discount is only available in our retail stores now - we launched the program this way and have decided to make it a retail exclusive benefit once again.

    1. Ina - I think I was a 6 or 8 in all the summer dresses when I tried on the hawaiian print Carrie. The 6 fit best and I found it to still be a little loose in the chest area. It's supposed to fit that way, I believe. I ended up w/the big dot Carrie in 6. Review of the hawaiian print in this post.

    2. Thanks Gigi!
I think i should be fine with the 0 that i ordered.
Hopefully i like the dress, this was a gamble i was willing to take for that price:)

    3. Ina. I usually wear a 4 in most everything but got 2 in this dress. Either would have worked though depending if whether you wanted loose or a little more fitted. I think the reason I kept the 2 was because the 4 was low cut under the armpit and would show too much bra. I tried them on a long time ago though so I'm not positive.

      Delete
    4. It definitely runs big. I am a 2/4 in dresses because I have large-ish shoulders for being only 5'2" and am 34B+-ish, but even the 2 was too big under the arms. This is the first dress that I ended up buying in a 0.

    5. Thank you so much Audreys and SC!

  37. I placed two orders in the last two days for Goldsign jeans, the checker-stripe scarf, the lightweight merino v-neck sweater in modern red, and the chevron fingerless gloves. Nothing shows as Final Sale except the gloves so I think I will be fine with returns for things that don't work out. I have the sweater in grey already. However, I am a little worried that, as usual, modern red for J.Crew = orange. Can anyone comment? Also with the Goldsign Jenny jeans I ordered a 29 and a 30. I'm a size 6 for J.Crew trousers and a 28 or a 29 in toothpicks. Hopefully I picked the right sizes to try?

  40. Well, got the dreaded cancellation on one of my items yesterday. If anyone sees a "blah blah blah" tee in small could you email me at marielarue7@gmail.com. 44. Can we chat about pixie pants (again) for a moment? I am now the proud owner of 5 pairs, 3 reg ones, the leather tuxedo, and the leather jodhpur. Has everyone who has the variations sized down on the leather ones? I found the jodhpur ran a full size big. The tuxedos appear to run a bit big (but not an noticeable as the jodhpur). Are people taking one size smaller on the tuxedo stripe than your reg pixie size? When I compared my tuxedo stripe to my normal black pixie, the rise is about 1 inch higher.... my reg size fits fine in the tuxedo but when I'm in the sitting position I notice excess fabric (folds) around my lower tummy area.... thanks for any input!

    Replies
    1. I tried on the 00S in the regular pixies awhile back and found them to be too long to the point of noticeably bunching up in the legs even though the inseam is listed as 28". I ordered the leather tuxedo stripe pixies to try in 00. I ended up not keeping the regular ones so I can only compare from memory, but the tuxedos don't seem to run big for me except that the rise does seem really high. It comes to my natural waist, which is much higher than I prefer. On the other hand, the legs aren't as long on me as the regular pixies. I'm still debating whether to keep them--they're much nicer than the $15 faux leather take on the trend I have from Urban Outfitters, but they're still fairly expensive pants. Do you get a lot of wear out of yours?
