  1. I really like the Wild Spots Cardigan, photos here primarily because of the print. It's my first ever animal print item and I was pleasantly surprised! Now I want all of the leopard print items from J.Crew but I have to sit tight and wait for sales. On the downside, it's really thin (of course).

Also, big love to J.Crew for allowing me to return a final sale item. I got the Quorra peep-toe booties and my usual 7 1/2 was too small. I took a shot and sent them an email and they were really pleasant about it.

  3. Once again, a shoutout to my awesome personal shopper! I am in the process of my third move this summer, and my rewards card seemed to get lost at one of my mailboxes. I told Lynette, and she made sure a new giftcard was sent to me right away.

  4. Marissa should take a bow for this solid collection. Thank you for getting us out of the ruffles, sequins, borrowed from the boys abyss. I've ordered quite a bit & so far nothing is going back. Really loving the skirt options - pencil, A-line, pouffy, mini, knit, tweed, lace, cotton -- there's something for everyone, unlike last year's minis. The double serge fits better this year & the colors are delicious. I've skipped though the sweaters & tops, too expensive for what they are. Verdict is still out on this year's cashmere. Don't know if the quality will hold up better with the price rise.

  5. I received the wild sports cardigan and its really nice (thin), but that is not what my rave is about. My rave is about the vintage tweed jacket. Gorgeous. Thick, nubby tweed; beautiful, rich color (mustard); great button detail; nice, classic shape. I think I can wear this as both outerwear on a casual fall day and with a skirt for a very classy, business look. LOVE IT.

  6. I'm just really happy I got my September catalog in the mail yesterday...just two weeks after I got the July catalog. I can't believe I got the current catalog in a timely fashion.

  7. I recently went on a jacket/blazer binge with the recent cardholder promo. I second blakemdjohns in loving the Vintage Tweed Jacket. Mine is navy and looks gorgeous, however I may replace the buttons, they're a little too much like kitchen cabinet knobs. The Hacking Jacket in heather dark purple herringbone is a luscious color and looks lovely with my viridian green pencil skirt as well as several from years past. My dearest love is the Technicolor Tweed Jacket. The colors are beautiful, the lining is classic J Crew with constrasting lining in the sleeves and makes me feel tres chic(a miracle, let me tell you) paired with the jazzy purple pencil skirt. This year's fall line up is SO much better than last years baglady convention.

  8. blakemdjohns and David,

Can you talk about the sizing of the vintage tweed jacket? I'm usually a size 8 in JC blazers unless the jacket runs small. How is the fit on this one?

    Thanks!

  9. This is not about loving JC, but about loving a JCA. Thanks to JCrew_Fanatic for a fantastic, easy trade this week!

  10. I think the sizing is pretty true to size (true to actual size and not true to some of J. Crew's ridiculous sizing). I am a 2-4 in jackets, XS in almost all J. Crew sweaters and XS-S in other sweaters. The 2 fits well in the shoulders and buttons easily. The cut of the coat is slightly boxy, so I think I *could* have sized down and still got it on, but it would probably not look as nice.

  12. Hi patmosjd-I'll try to help with the fit of the Vintage Tweed Jacket. I'm an houglass shape and 5'5", usually wear 2 in JC blouses and jackets, a 0 in dresses. I went with a smaller size 0 because I wanted the jacket to be more fitted and less boxy. Normally I just button the lower two buttons on short jackets to emphasize my shape, though in the 0 I can button all buttons, however it is definitely snug across the chest, shoulders and sleeves. The bottom of the jacket hits right above the belt of my JC favorite fit pants(I'm a little longwaisted). HTH!

  13. I just want to say how much I love the JCA Polyvore group. I have gotten so many fabulous inspirations and ideas for great outfits. I need to start adding my own now!

  14. Thanks blakemdjohns and David! Your input is very helpful. David, I'm also an hourglass shape (but 5'9) so I'm always concerned about jackets looking too boxy on me. I think an 8 should work fine, though.

  15. I saw the wild spots cardi in the sale section this morning, iroar, but only in an XL. So keep an eye out!

I also went on a jacket binge during the MUSTSHOP sale and I'm in love with many of my recent purchases. I wore the gray eyelet schoolboy to work yesterday and received compliments all day long, yay! I'm looking forward to wearing the herringbone one (the one with the metalliz thread thingies in it) and the chambray one as well.

I really love the playa paisley print swimwear. Something about the colors flatters my skintone really well, which is great.

I'd also like to pipe up with some love for the MUSTSHOP promo. I know how most of you feel re: final sale, but I have scooped up some fantastic deals on things I never would have bought otherwise. Once the last order ships (omg, embarrassing), I think I will have gorgeous swimwear for life! I was so happy to snag the Cassis, Liberty Briland and Islet paisley suits and bikinis for a song -- I know I'll wear and love them always.

I'll be very interested to see if I like 2 striped dresses that will be here soon -- the shoreline stripe dress and high tide tunic dress.

Last but not least, love to ol' Mick and the crew at the Crew for fixing the Canadian situation quickly.

Lots of love from me today! :D

  16. I am so glad that J.Crew is offering cardholders promos like the current 20% off and free shipping. I have bought things that I normally would have passed on b/c of these promos. Please keep them coming. I love nail polish so ended up using mine for a bottle of purple:) My favorite color.

  17. Stopped in the local store to see if they had the Poppy King lipstick. I'm a big fan of her sinner lipsticks, and this one doesn't disappoint. It's very sheer and has a nice lip balmy feel to it. It is more of an orangy coral than a pink coral.
In other news, I splattered bleach on the jcrew cargo skirt I bought this summer. : (

  18. I placed an online order during the recent additional 30% off final sale prices. Well, I was regretting not purchasing a necklace after purchases two other items. Not wanting to pay shipping again, I called up to ask if I could add it to my order. Answer was "no", but before I could say anything the customer service agent said that she could place my order and give me free shipping. I was so happy!!

Post on my purchases here: http://thepetitefittingroom.blogspot.com/2011/08/take-additional-30-off-j-crew-final.html

  19. Hi Patmos and Blakemdjohns, I also bought the vintage tweed jacket in the navy but I am returning it because the sleeves are extremely itchy. I wanted to wear it with a cami and was wearing short sleeves. Were your jackets also itchy in the sleeves or did I get a defect? I agree it is tts and the buttons are rather hideous and plastic. Thanks for any help!

  20. I am loving the new fall collection, my wallet and hubby on the other hand, not so much! There is great variety this season, something for everyone. Also, LOVING the cardmember promos! PLEASE keep them coming JC. :)

  21. Michelle:
I am glad that customer service was really on your side. And I would like to say I am surprised by how similar our orders were - I ordered the piped glitter belt and jeweled flower sash as well! I hope they work well! :]

  22. Riding the high of a recent order...

Lots of LOVE for boys Crewcuts!

-LOVE the colors, style, cut and fit of the shirts, jackets, shorts and most pants. They are classic cut to fit my tall, skinny kid without being 'supersized' and sloppy.
-LOVE the fact I can buy some items a size bigger and they can be worn for two years. Makes the price, esp. on sale, a great deal!
-LOVE that as a result of dressing my kid in Crewcuts for many years, he has great taste in clothes! :)

  23. Hi Shekster,

I actually have not purchased the vintage tweed jacket, but am considering it. Itchy sleeves might just make it a dealbreaker for me, though.

  24. IRL - I agree that dressing kids in Crewcuts helps developed good style. We've ordered a lot (whenever there are good sales) and my daughters get compliments all the time. Other than the omnipresence of ruffles and sequins, the clothes are great. And much better this season.

  25. I'm enjoying my recent purchases. I have worn the Leslie lace shell in natural with the new cafe capri in natural, the double pocket linen cardigan in white when needed to lots of cocktail parties. The chambray schoolboy is a real workhorse for me as are the Waverly chinos. I look forward to the fall things I have-- the viridian skirt, purple Tippi, and the Darlinton satchel. Love them all!

  26. First and foremost, I have been so excited about J.Crew's fall collection! I immediately fell in love with the vintage tweed jacket and skirt in Navy, but could not get myself to purchase both pieces at full-price. After reading everyone's comments about receiving a 20% promo for being a cardholder, I was very disappointed that I did not receive the promotion (being a cardholder myself). I e-mailed Customer Service about the situation (apparently, this promotion expired yesterday, 8/25) and CS wrote back to let me know they would honor it if I placed my order online!! I went ahead and purchased both items, using my rewards card as well and look forward to sharing my review once I receive them! I can't believe how amazing their CS was and was beyond thrilled that they will be discounting the suit an addition 20%!!! Thank you, J.Crew!!!!

  27. I tried on the Capelette Coat (49719) in store today- great coat, the fabric feels fantastic and I loved the hood, but the jacket runs HUGE. I normally wear a M/L in J.Crew tops and could easily fit into the XXS in this coat, it even fit fine across the shoulders. Just an FYI to anyone looking to order one

  28. How is the fit of the No.2 Pencil skirt? I am IN.LOVE. with the leopard print! I'm large in the waist and not so large in the hips. And, on another issue:
I'm a long time cardholder and I haven't received any cardholder's promos (other than a sneak peak at what's coming...should I be grateful for that?). Hmm...might be time to call and ask!
