J.Crew Email: HAPPY RED, WHITE AND BLUE: UP TO 50% OFF ALL FACTORY ITEMS + FREE SHIPPING

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the following news from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew Factory (click here to shop online) is open for the weekend. But wait there's more! Some factory items are priced an additional 50% off.

As JCAs know... if you live near a Factory Store, check them out first. The B&M Factory Stores tend to have better promotions and sale prices.

What are your thoughts on J.Crew's Factory offerings? Will you check them out?

  1. No Factory for me today but I did buy two final sale items in the regular J Crew area. Yes, I dared to buy final sale! Low-risk items, one I bought to scavenge parts :) (the sale section has become my junkyard), and the other is a Jenna's cardigan which I've already got in other colors.

My husband and I are doing a road trip this weekend and we're not talking a computer with us (and neither of us has internet service for our phones). It's a good thing I'm done stalking the J Crew sale section. :) I still check it, but I no longer wake up super early to catch the updates, and today I was up for hours before I even turned on the computer.

I hope you all have really great (and safe) holiday weekends!

  2. Is it just me or did they totally make that graphic in MS paint?

  3. I ordered the linen gazebo pants and tailored linen pencil skirt during the 30% off sale and I'm quite happy with both. Also both were less than what they're priced at now.

  4. Question on factory sizing. Been eyeing the shirts, how do they fit compared to the JC shirts? I take a 6 or P8 or PM (in the stretch cotton) in JC shirts. Should I get a Small or Medium in the Factory shirts? TIA!

  8. Hi closet crisis!

That is a tuff call. It really depends on what you are purchasing but I think a M is a safe bet.

For reference, I am a 2 in retail Jcrew shirts or an XS in tees.

At the outlet i typically get an XS in button up shirts but if it is a tee and especially those that aren't novelty tees I get a S. I did recently buy a button up in a small though because I wanted a little more wiggle room so I am most likely between a size XS and S since either fit.

Their sizing is hair tricky since they don't go down to an xxs like retail. I feel that they run maybe just a hair smaller in general.

  10. Thanks MegCrew! I may hold off then, cos I generally do better with a true petite size P8 or PM which Factory button fronts don't come in. I won't chance it till I make it to an outlet and try on a few before ordering.

  11. I stopped by a Factory store en route to a friend's house yesterday. Everything was 40-50% off and clearance was an additional 30%.

They stacked my 15% teacher discount on a Perfect Shirt that was 40% off, but not on the Navy/White Lily-print Shorts I found in the Clearance section for 19.99 - 30%. Oh well those were cheap enough.

Has anyone received their teacher discount on top of an extra % off clearance? Just wondering if there are inconsistencies in this policy.

  12. ruffles: I have heard of stacking of 15% on top of the 30% off sale prices; but our store (Richmond, VA) would not do it, so I'm wondering. Before the extra 30% promo, they did take 15% off the sale section items.
    Anyone???

  14. I think their policy is the same as the retail store on the 15% educator discount, which is they will take it off of the "temporary markdowns" (aka 40% off sweaters, etc) but when something is permanently marked down they don't take it.

However I've had SAs that either didn't know the policy or weren't paying attention who've taken it off of the clearance items as well.

I've also had SAs at the outlets give me grief about how it doesn't actually say FACULTY anywhere on my faculty ID (I teach at the Naval Academy and it says "Civilian Instructor" not "Faculty"), so now I carry my appointment letter with me at all times too, but that's a different vent.

  15. ruffles,

What you experienced is exactly what I experienced.

  16. Danielle,

You think Instructor would work just fine! I mean its the same as teacher! How strange????
