J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Hi all
Has anyone tried BA933. Puff-sleeve shirtdress in Liberty® Elysian Day floral. No reviews and it’s final sale, not cheap either! Thanks

    1. I ordered this dress last night in my usual size (XS). (I looked at the the reviews for the same style -BB022- in the block colors and it looks like it runs true to size.) I've been waiting for it to go on sale! You're right, it is still pricey even on sale, but I had some rewards so I decided to just grab it now! It'll be a lovely WFH option.

I don't usually go for yellows but this print just looks so pretty, and from previous experience, the Liberty prints usually look even better IRL. :)

    2. @Kate, a friend of mine purchased for her teenage daughter. Sent it back. She said the material certainly wasn’t of the great old Jcrew quality

    3. Thanks all! I honestly don’t know
Usually take XS. But I can do petites at times and for work I like tall sometimes so it can go over the knee. So I am so confused lol

  2. It looks like there are some new items online today. The
Sommerset blazer in glen plaid English wool
Item BA472 and matching Pull-on straight-leg pant in glen plaid English wool Item BA270 caught my eye. They look great on stylist Brie Welch. I’m not sure how well the pull on pants would work and if they are lined but they look nice. I also like the look of the Long merino wool cardigan sweater Item BA398. The Cotton-cashmere cable-knit mockneck sweater Item BA321 in heather natural looks like a love. It is great when the cable detail goes all the way around to the back. I am not seeing much in the shoe or jewelry section that speaks to me but it looks more classic in style. The website shows 40% off regular price and extra 50% off sale with code HELLOFALL so it would be a good time to try some things. Of course the blazer is excluded! .

    1. I loved that ivory cable sweater as well until I looked at the length…20” is a dealbreaker for me and my long torso.

    2. BA321 @20” length and 28” sleeves? Appears something is off with the specs . Look at the model, the sweater looks long in some photos, short and the sleeves are 28”. Have to be kidding! I have long slender arms and those sleeves would be long on me. I have a shorter torso too @5’7 1/2. That’s Sloppy looking from my humble perspective.

    3. @ShoppingCelle, BA398 would look nice even perhaps as a dress on someone shorter than myself. I like it very much and wish I could wear it as a dress. Not joking here either. Have an old Chanel dress that looks similar to it in black and white.

    4. @Trixxie & Lynn: eagle eyes on the sweater length. I have short arms so that might be a deal breaker. I may still try it in case the copywriter from out of space flubbed on the description.

    5. Since when is a 16" hem circumference a straight leg?!?! That's definitely wide-leg territory.

  3. @Lynn That BA398 sweater as a dress is a great idea. I’m sure it wouldn’t be as fab as your Chanel dress though!

    1. @ShoppingCelle, it would be different but I think it would still be a wonderful classic look and just as nice for a lot less. As I mentioned earlier, I would purchased it. I have at least one old Jcrew Cardigan similar to this new version. Navy/white

  4. I tried on the cottage dress in Annelise Floral- thankfully they waived final sale. The fit was...not great. Sleeves were way too puffy. Chest area was big. Skirt was straight. Belt gave shape. Without belt, it was ... nightgown. Overall effect was: housedress. Is that why it's called a cottage dress? In any event, not paying $84 for a sheer nightdress/cover up/whatever this is was not happening!

    1. How did you get them to remove final sale ?

    2. @FlowerPower, great assessment. Nearly exactly what my friend and her daughter said, especially the nightgown effect!

    3. Kate - it was a bit cumbersome. I went to the store to try one on (a cottage dress - there are several versions). They didn't have one to try on. They suggested I call CS and ask for FS to be waived. CS agreed but warned this was one-time only yadayadayada. Thank goodness. It was so expensive for what it is and the fit was bananas. Shame because the print was gorgeous!

    4. Thanks so much!! Yes they are sticklers for that! I think if I am worried about the fit I t’s a for a reason so I guess we have to listen to our gut!

  5. BA116 Cashmere slippers. Flamingo is a very pretty color. They are TTS, soft and that’s about it. Where the toe box is your nail may show on top and/or or eventually wear the slipper out. I have thin feet and no toe issues. Tried 2 sizes one larger and one my regular size and it didn’t make a difference No support on the sole. Sent back. Way overpriced.
