Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Yesterday I posted my love for the Everlane day glove but not seeing the red available anymore. This morning they showed up on a Choose What You Pay sale.
The lightweight wide leg chinos are among my favorite pants for warm weather. I ordered the lightweight straight leg version which have back pockets. Also decided to try their new lightweight chino lounge pant which look like scrubs but I’m ok with that.
Supposedly orders will ship in 1-2 days, unlike the last big sale that basically took a month to ship (I’m not going anywhere so it doesn’t matter much to me!)

    1. Glad I decided to return the Alex Mill pleated pants. 😂

    2. There was a lot going on around the waistline, makes matching with a top harder.

OT, but J Crew had some men's Timeberland earthkeeper boots in the sale section. I got a pair for the Hubs at $36. Reviews said they run wide and large. He's an 11W and I got an 11. Perfect for wide foot. Regular size foot could size down at least 1/2. All sold now, but they do pop up.

    3. My husband doesn’t want anything really but I got both of us the Everlane tread sneakers in black with the white sole. If this continues we will be walking and light hiking more and the sneakers I have aren’t great for that. (And he wears his into the ground)

    4. And you’re right about the waistline of those pants. After trying them a few times I realized the smaller size was better in most ways but lacked the cool slouch factor. I kind of had to fuss with them more than I want to deal with right now.

  2. i ordered a skirt from anthro and it was backordered a few days... estimating a ship date of the 10th... then 11th... then 12th... then 13th... now it says shipping May 7. HUH?! when i tried chat, i couldn't get thru. i tried email. no response. i tried calling but was on hold for 20 minutes each time before i gave up. i know they're busy, i just wanted to see if the skirt was actually shipping or if it looked more like i was going to get a cancelled notice.

    1. Hey Miss JR. anthro’s shipping notifications are definitely messed up. I was charged for a pair of pants that disappeared from the site after I ordered them. The tracking kept stating they were ready for pickup. A week later they showed up. Even on the day they arrived it still said ready for pick up. I also recently had a dress on backorder that changed dates several times including a date of today to ship. Then it arrived today! I think their shipping system can’t keep up with orders.

But their return system is far superior to other retailers. If you complete the form online, when you drop it off at the shipper your account is refunded immediately. No waiting weeks for a refund!
