J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  2. @lynn got it too. Somehow the code never works for me, always have to ask customer service to apply it for me....

    1. fleur de lys, numerous IT problems today but my code worked. Question for you, since we both purchased the navy/pink sweater blazer I was considering purchasing the gray with the rock red trim. Do you like it? Price is reasonable. I sized down such you with the original. Thank you

    2. @lynn I really like it, great business casual sweater blazer. Well made, def size down one or even two sizes. Haven’t washed it yet but I don’t expect it to shrink. It’s a bit too warm for now but great for fall/winter/spring

    3. @fleur de lys, I like my navy/pink one which I too, haven’t worn yet and I sized down. I was simply wondering about the gray combo. It almost looks like a rusty reddish brown. I’m at a loss:) perhaps I should pass and wait to see what Jcrew launches next week in perhaps different colors or a little shorter. Thank you I appreciated your comment.

  3. Good morning ladies, just got a crew email but alas, no 10% coupon. Trying to not buy cheap STUFF, I have bought quite a bit since we’ve been home (new pajamas, new underwear, summer clothes for my child) but currently have no needs.

    1. I didn’t get it either.

    2. Ladies call CS or your VPS. IT problems.

    3. I didn't get it either but I'm not going to bother. I should not be buying anything more! Still have 2 orders en route and 2 orders placed. I switched seasons in my closet this weekend despite not really knowing whether I'll use any of my warm weather office clothes. My closet really is overflowing with clothes for all seasons, I need to exercise self discipline!
@cheri - the only things I've bought recently have also been stay at home wear - pajamas, loose t-shirts and waist tie pants.

    5. @eeps, it’s hard not to buy lounge clothes when one is lounging. I do wear jeans every day, but don’t want to wear my “nice” sweaters, tops, etc. I don’t like to look like a slob. So I needed some filler pieces, bought a handful of tees that I won’t be mortified if I dirty or ruin in some way...Also why I bought fresh spring pajamas. Sick of wearing my partner’s old tees or crummy stuff. I love new pajamas!

  4. A couple of things arrived:
Liberty skirt in Wiltshire print (AO808) - pretty print and cotton lining and pockets but runs small. I could zip it up in my usual 6 but not at all comfortable if I want to sit, eat or breathe :D. Also length was awkward on me (5"10") hit at the knee and poofed way out like a 50s skirt. Not a look I'm opposed to but not what I was aiming for either.

Pencil skirt in gingham seersucker (AO725). No model pic on this one and only one flat photo of the front. I missed in the description it has a "fun ruffle at the back", the pic shows a straight pencil skirt and that's what I thought I was getting. Ruffle is ok, has one of those inverted U things at the back that kind of hug your bum. I loved the below knee length and pockets and machine washable but not a total love so returning.

Picked up the long sleeve ruffle shirt in eyelet (AJ417) on clearance because it was all cotton and eyelet feels so sweet and summery. Love love this blouse. Needs a tank top under it (white) but it's so pretty, has a nice deep hem with side slits that looks great untucked. Wore it yesterday with my green straight leg cargo pant (the ones from earlier this Spring). Super cute combo with the fitted cargo pant and white eyelet.

    1. I also received that same Liberty skirt today, and that length is not for me either. Actually, I would like it to be longer. It looked a little too "twee" on me.

    2. Yes I wanted it longer too, by quite a bit. Being right at the knee and having such a full skirt looked very cutesy. Just needed a crinoline, lol.

    3. @julielion96, I picked up the same blouse. I don’t know why because I’m not into ruffles. Now that you mentioned it’s see through, I’m thinking oh no. I won’t wear anything under it. It was cheap. Perhaps I will donate it. Thank hanks for the review.

    4. Lynn the white is definitely sheer, not sure about the other colors. Living in a cold climate I have become used to wearing a tank top or cami as a base layer almost all year long. I don't like ruffles either but kept seeing people on IG in pretty white ruffled Sezane blouses and that must have planted it in my subconscious. :D I thought it could also be nice under a sweater or sweatshirt with the little ruffle collar peeking out.

    5. Julielion96, thank you for providing more info on styling the blouse. I would never have thought of doing what you’re planning to do. I am presently in a hot climate and trying to wear as little as possible:) Wear it happily and in good health.

  5. How are people making no fee returns? I realize The cut of the Liberty barn jacket does me no favors as much as I like the concept. I’ve been waiting until stores reopen but it doesn’t seem the NYC area will open soon. Thoughts?

    1. @Suz, they have to waive shipping because the stores in certain areas are not open. You either call them after ordering online and they make a notation. If not you will have to call after receiving. I suggest doing it immediately. A little less trouble. I tried on the barn jacket concept is cute but nowhere near the quality of previous years.

    2. Yes I’ve been on the fence about it and I love the colors and the Liberty detail but the shape is just not great.

    3. Thanks I sent a Dm And supposedly they sent me something with the shipping fee waived. I’ll double check that

    4. same thing for me with the barn jacket! quality was terrible? and i erroneously thought liberty AND the iconic barn jacket would be the perfect combo. le sigh

    5. I didn’t think the quality was terrible. I just need a less boxy shape. If there was a drawstring inside to tighten the waist, or if the fabric was less stiff it could work better for me. It was just too limiting. The only bottom that it looked decent with was baggy distressed jeans.

  6. Received Cotton poplin tiered popover dress in Liberty® Wiltshire print Item AP167. Ridiculously large. They need to re-market as maternity wear. I'm a 4/6 in dresses, and was lost in the small. Sure I'd have been lost in XS. Fabric is lovely, cotton lining. But impossible unless you are expecting.

    1. oh no, I wanted to try that one too. I love the Wiltshire print but I swear over the years I've bought and returned about 3 things with that print. Always fit issues. I'll have to cave in and just get the Wiltshire print bandana which I'm always holding off on because it's always excluded from promos.

    2. I got that dress too pbanos. Agree that it runs large. It looks super cute belted with a wide belt (I tried with both a cognac leather and straw belt and they were cute). However, once it belted it, it was far too short for my 5’10 frame and of course no tall option. Back it goes. It’s darling though. May pick up the button down in this print instead.

    3. @julielion96: I ordered the Kiki flats in the Wiltshire print and had fit issues with those. It was too large in my usual size 8, but I know that a 7 1/2 would not have been right either. Maybe 7 3/4. The quality was not like the Kiki flats that were all leather/made in Italy, but that was no surprise. I do have the bandana from a couple of years ago. It has a nice hem stitch.

    4. @MmeJacquline, adding my experience with the new Kiki’s here. Originally ordered white/navy, blue/green in 9.5. (I’m a 10 M with a very narrow heel. Both pairs were 1 inch too long with the left shoes. Sent back tried a 9. Those did t work either. Reordered another blue/green 9.5 and these fit, slightly loose bit with thin inserts (free from Nordstrom) they fit. Ordered the red and both L/R were an inch too long. Sent them back. I too, miss the “good Italian” Kiki’s, Cece’s etc. which I originally posted.

    5. @Lynn: I went through various sizes of those white/navy and blue/green Kiki flats too! I liked the color combinations, but nothing was going to work for me. I have black/ivory ones from a few years ago (all leather, made in Italy), and they are perfect.

Such a shame that things have deteriorated so much.

  7. I tried the Tiered Maxi Dress in Mixed Eyelet, in black (AK676). It was super heavy, lined, and I didn't even want to try it on. A summer dress shouldn't weigh that much. I did try it on, and it felt heavy on and it overwhelmed me (I'm 5'4"). It was a clear case of the dress was wearing me, not me wearing the dress. It's going back.

  8. Hi ladies, I received another 10% off code early this morning. Did any others here? Find this quite odd except they’re really trying to push their items, make up for a computer glitch or it’s some new type of strategy. Nothing written as to how long it’s good for. Prices went up as I’m sure all of you noticed. Waiting for some items that have been delayed for one reason or another.

  9. Here’s an extra 10% off just for you

  10. Received the Dip Dyed Linen Beach Sweater AN009 Monaco Blue. Beautiful colors, tts, and the greatness stops there. It is so heavy that I imagine it weighs at least 2lbs. Open weave isn’t bad but it’s the weight. Sent back a shame.
