J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. A few new arrivals are up to round out that tiny rainbow drop we saw last week. And some amazing prices on items too!

    4. I purchased AN109 linen striped rainbow popover shirt. It looks far prettier than the long sleeve rainbow shirt I purchased a month ago which I returned. Purchased in my regular size, will post after received.

Everlane Day Gloves. First time I took them out of the house I walked with my mom for about a mile around her development. Super comfortable. I kept the black and rose (ballet slipper pink) but just went to order red and they’re no longer an option. As with most Everlane shoes I go with my usual 8.5 even though most others say to size up. YMMV but I wanted a flat that felt like a slipper but that I could walk for miles wearing.

Alex Mill AVERY pant. Some of you may have seen my previous post and pics on IG. I decided to return (which I’m going to do today before I hesitate and change my mind). My 22 year old Loves them so they have a cool quotient I admire but the cut and fabric won’t work with a basic tee or most of my summery tops for some reason. The Everlane perfect pleat is a little neater looking and tailored on me.

  3. Received the tiered popover dress in embroidered eyelet (AP152) in white today. Runs large, no need for the size zip, length is fine on my 5'4" frame but might be too short on someone taller. Nice, deep pockets, cotton lining. Keeping.

Also received the Cowrie Shell and Pearl Anklet (AO750) (label on bag says "Beachy Puka Pearl Anklet"). Not worth $24.50. Shells are small and not as distinctive as pictured. Returning.

  4. Reviews from sale orders.

Vintage straight chino patchwork pants. Reviews are correct, so size up. Rolled up the cuffs and paired with Thomas Mason stripe shirt and stripe bow mules. WAsn't sure how much I would like them, but they're a fun pair of khakis with a twist.

Limited edition Tippi embellished collar sweater. Fit tts; this is a lightweight merino wool and I didn't find it to be sheer. It's soft and I love the collar details. Can be worn casually with white denim or dressed up with a sequin bottom (i.e. navy sequin wide leg pants).

Liberty Margaret Annie block heel slingbacks. Fit tts. Shoe is comfortable and the style works well for having a heel option that isn't a stiletto.

Wool wide leg pleated pants in sky blue. Fit tts. Pleats don't add weight to the midsection. Will pair well with Liberty slingbacks.

Long sleeve everyday cashmere dress in grey. Fit tts. Cashmere is soft and good quality. Dress was $37 (grey and teal colors were marked down to $73.99 during 50% off sale), so this was a bargain that will get lots of wear with cooler temps.

    1. Thanks for the reviews. I dithered several times on those sweater dresses, but I have four sweater dresses. Plus I was unsure if I'd go with my usual S in dresses or have to size up to M like I do for some of the cashmere sweaters.

Those slingbacks will be great for summer. Well would be if we ever get to leave the house. I bought a pair of the Liberty two piece bow high block heel pumpes when they were at $42. I size up 1/2 which was perfect. Lovely lovely shoes, but I'm not likely to wear them around the house. At least with the extended returns I can think about it for a while!

    2. Oh I liked those margaret Annie slingbacks. Didn’t see them on sale. I’d def go for those if I found them.

    3. @pbanos Sweater dress sizing can be tricky. Depending upon the style, sizing is all over the place for me. For this style, my usual choice is to go up one size because of hips and buttocks; that was the right call, since I didn’t want the dress to cling. I also size up to a size 11 in slingbacks since my right foot is 40.5. That’s a great price on those shoes! So glad for the additional return window. So, lots of time to decide and I’m in the same situation of not going anywhere anytime soon.

@Suz Has, hope you’re able to find them.

  5. I received the lobster print dress in my usual size and it’s a very nice, light summer dress. I expected it to be darker IRL thanks to Lynn’s review so I wasn’t surprised but it’s def darker than the stock photo online. There’s a little pink on the lobsters which brightens them up. It falls to mid calf on me at 5’7”. I like the pockets. Across the top is a little loose, sticks out a bit but I’m small chested. The only thing negative was a patch of wonky stitching on the back where the elasticized back meets the rest of the dress but I think I’ll overlook it instead of wasting shipping etc during this time. I’m happy with the dress, it will be a nice summer dress and i appreciate the cotton lining.

Received the tie waist Ratti Regatta Pants AN003. Yes, they’re poly however the fabric is nice and very flowy. Of course they’re unlined but the basic is substantial and not sheer. Colors are beautiful and the design is extremely interesting. The color placement is such that in my humble opinion would not be an attractive look for someone who is on the heavy set side or has a wider waist. There is a lot of white throughout the upper hip and waist area on one side (you can view on the model) It exaggerates my waist somewhat,(I’m thin) but is offset with the blue tie sash/belt or whatever you wish to call it. I purchased it in my regular size and it works for me. I can play with the waist if I want to wear the pants higher or lower. If you’re tall and fairly willowy like the model they will be stunning. If you’re of average height and build they will look very nice as well. Hope I don’t offend anyone as this is my humble opinion. This is reminiscent of the old jcrew classic with a twist look and compliments to the designer. Again, although it’s not silk I can live with it because of the design and beautiful blue colors throughout. They look expensive. For $70.00 it’s a very fair price. With some rewards points even better:)

    1. Thank you for this review, Lynn. Glad to hear that they are a keeper! Are they very cropped on you? That’s an amazing price, the Canadian price $247 no promo is insane right now otherwise I’d be interested in ordering them. I’ll keep my eye on them. Hope you get to enjoy wearing them out somewhere soon.

    2. @Jan, Yes they are cropped and fall approximately 3-4 inches above my ankle. Meant to add the waist has an elastic in the back. I tried on some tops, a navy cashmere featherweight tee which over powers the print. A striped embellished long sleeve perfect shirt with blue stones that match the blue colors in the pants. It looks cute. I have more blue striped shirts and linen. I didn’t like the white linen with them. Just my opinion. I understand now why jcrew put the blue striped shirt with the pants. Looks very and very classic. If you have ideas would appreciate. I hope the price comes down for you. They’re definitely not worth the 100.00 range. Hope this helps.

    3. Thank you for all of the info! That is very helpful. I like your pairings, I also have a number of stripe shirts so that’s good to know. Maybe a simple white tee or tank or maybe it’s the white colour that didn’t look good when you mentioned the linen. I hope that you enjoy them!
