Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. What I "found" this weekend is that Jcrew is ending the VPS program as of the end of this month. Wonderful customer service in my opinion was at the core of what made jcrew great in my eyes and my VPS was/is amazing. She is the face of jcrew for me. I'm disappointed that jcrew has decided to cut expenses in this area and it will certainly affect my level of spending.

    1. That explains why several long time vps ladies I know are leaving the company. Sadness.

    2. Oh, interesting. I had a VPS reach out to me by mail and email in December, I guess since I spent a lot of money with JC last quarter, but I didn't take him up on the offer. I pretty much shop sale popbacks and if I waited for a VPS to order for me I would miss the items. Also I don't really have problems getting special service in local stores if I need to. But I could see how this would be upsetting for people who don't have a store near them.

    3. Oh that's too bad. One who was helping me sent an auto response that she was out until April. :( I was hoping it was something positive.

    4. Oh no. This is the one move I was hoping they would not make. On to snooty staff in stores and possibly online. What a tragedy - this will not help

    6. Oh, this is sad news! I have/had such a wonderful VPS and will miss her very much. Hoping at least Customer Service will stay the same, such excellent service

    7. @fleur de lys, I completely agree about their Customer Service -- hoping it stays intact, as I know many of us have had pleasant interactions with them. (I'm rather shocked about the VPS news, as I know many here are fond of theirs.) The loss of jobs is also dispiriting news.

    8. Sad to hear of jobs being lost. I had an amazing vps a few years ago and we kept in touch a bit after she left. I really loved having her. I didn't really bother with a new vps since then. Since Jcrew is struggling with debt I guess they need to make some hard changes. I'm sure there are more changes coming with the whole restructuring thing going on. I too hope that their customer service stays amazing even though they're ending the vps program.
Remember when they had 'we will find it for you' and shipped items they found for you for free. I loved getting items from US stores sent to me in Canada back when there were no cdn stores.

    9. Oh no! This is terrible news!! My VPS has been amazing -- able to find items that are 'sold out' for me regularly and truly wonderful at helping me put together outfits. Major sadness. :(

    1. Thanks. The looks are a bit more palatable in this form than the random snapshots I was seeing yesterday.

Like: Most of the sweaters, the lavender coat, the shirting tops with shoulder buttons on one side, flare skirts.

Dislikes: camo, distressed chinos, clown pants, crop tops, pjs as daywear (please make this trend go away).

    2. I seriously hate everything except the shoes.

I especially think the strapless pants dress is ridiculous. The styling is once again totally bonkers (I'm looking at you, tulle kilt with camouflage shirt with velvet collar and colorblocked bag).

It feels like we are being punked. It also has no cohesion (other than all being a hot mess). Who are you, J. Crew?

    3. I didn't see the strapless pants dress yesterday, definitely not for me.

Like: The grey ruffle sweater, the patchwork pants (but without the camo patch), the tassel loafers, the navy coat with the big blossom (maybe I just like the blossom), the rugby shirt, the moon and stars sweater but shorter and the royal blue sweater with a smaller neck opening.

Dislikes: Camo, hairy coat. Other items I like but just not for me like wide legged pants.

    4. @Elizabeth -- take a look at Look No. 32/35.

    5. @Blakemdjohns, it is so bad it looks like a party joke. It feels like they are punking us with that one.

    6. Ouch. That Strapless pants dress contraption is pretty indefensible. I know these outfits are adapted for the shopping masses, but even with that in mind, I can't see the inspiration behind those. Do they snap at the crotch like onesies? Maybe a flap at the bum like those one-piece pajamas? Oof. I can't stop staring at it!

    7. As I look at that grey ruffle sweater, I think they should take the ruffles off the sleeves, they might weaponize that sweater knocking things over but it's my favorite thing otherwise.

    8. Oh yikes. None of this makes me excited, but I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune in September.

    9. Just so, so bad saving all my money for Boden and Club Monaco. Kid like camo and clown pants (lol to who picked that awesome term!) and patchy pants no way! Gah it's so bad im washing my eyes out and I'm looking st previous years and it's so much better.

    10. Look 30 of 35 is the only one I like. And that pant dress is insane lol I'm a bad way

    11. I like the blue/purple fair isle sweater (bet this doesn't make it to production). That's about it. Normally I like camo, but this camo is really pronounced and I don't love it. The wide leg pants dragging on the floor is terrible. I don't know what that thing is with the pants that go up above the bust, is that a jumpsuit? It all looks either ugly or impractical. Do they even want to sell clothes?

    12. Funny that it's called "ready to wear." I'm not ready to wear that stuff anywhere.

    13. The pants dress would look better if it was cinched at the waist with a belt and even then it's questionable
The styling looks like a child designed it...
Hope the retail version looks better

    14. The striped, multi-strap Mary Jane pumps in image #29 will be mine (if they make it to production).

    15. Most outfits look high-end homeless or schizophrenic to me.....

    16. I actually just laughed out loud when I saw the tulle skirt/kilt/colorblock bag outfit. What's the word for the opposite of "aspirational"? I know it's what I'm feeling right now.

    17. Wow. Just wow. Some of these looks remind me of how kids draw clothing. The strapless pant dress thing makes the model look like Gumby. I still can't hate on the pleated tulle skirt (look 12) or the beaded tartan tulle combo skirt (22) though. I can total see myself wearing either with a silk blouse and velvet blazer for the Christmas holidays. I'm nothing if not super dramatic during that time.

    18. @D*ska (snort!)....Gumby! you nailed it! Laughing again.....

  3. so i've been waiting and checking and checking and checking pinterest for the march catalog (because they wouldn't give me a copy at the store this weekend and i never seem to get them in the mail anymore)..

and, i'm kinda meh with what i'm seeing so far... like there's details and colors i really like, but there hasn't been anything where i'm like "OMG I NEED THAT"

i'm sure that will change when everything finally pops up on line, but so far it's not looking promising :/

    1. I am also like ehh, with the catalog. I preordered a couple dresses, but I am not impressed with the paint splatter stuff. I know that's a trend based on kids clothes I'm seeing for my son this spring, but for me it's one of those things that looks cool, but doesn't work in my real life. Also, why are there three pages devoted to what appears to be a swim top and pink wide leg pants...?

    2. I don't understand why they won't give out the catalog this past weekend. Mine was mailed to me and arrived on Saturday. Corporate J. Crew must know this so why are they giving the message to sales associates not to hand them out? It makes no sense and it's just one more thing they do to dampen interest in the brand.

    3. They really should stop the dramatics and just post the Style Guide online and give it to people who ask for it in the store. They need all the sales they can get.

  4. Looking at the new items on Pinterest.i actually like some of the paint splatter stuff. A few years ago I tried the distressed paint splatter cargo pants and absolutely loved the fit but wasn't crazy about the colors in the paint, so I returned them. The fit was great though.
I'm actually tempted to take one of my old white Jcrew button downs and do my own handiwork.

    4. Thanks Miss JR. Don't know why that was hidden for me. Never had trouble seeing a catalog on there before. The new catalog was always the first thing that popped up.

    5. The paint spatter looks a little bit like bird poop, but I guess people might like it...

    6. I know what you mean, but there's something for everyone, right? I guess it makes me nostalgic for my art school days...that Or the time a bird pooped on me right before the chemistry regents.

  5. Thanks for sharing the link @MissJR. I couldn't see the images for the March catalogue either.

  6. I received the March catalog last night; strangely I never received the Feb catalog. Feels weird to receive the catalog before the website has been updated. But I was able to search the site for the new items by item number. I ordered the sequined jackie in gold. To me it has a vintage-y feel. Was able to use my rewards card and get 25% off. All in all, this catalog made me the most excited about the Crew in a long, long time.
