Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. Hey there fantastic blog! Does running a blog like this take a
massive amount work? I’ve very little knowledge of
coding however I was hoping to start my own blog
in the near future. Anyhow, if you have any suggestions or techniques for new blog owners please share.
I know this is off subject nevertheless I just needed to ask.
    Appreciate it!

  3. Hello Crew Ladies! TGIF! Can't wait for the new rollout, I especially like the Avery Heel in Tweed, I am wondering if they will have a promo on these at the roll? what are the chances?

    1. In the past fall seasons they usually have a 30% off promo full price, but not on popular items. It depends on how well merchandise is moving (selling). Since those shoes might be popular, I would keep an eye out regarding stock, so your size doesn't sell out, in case you are waiting to buy it on promo. It sucks for me because I'm a 5.5, and my size sells out first even before it goes on sale.
      Good luck!

  4. Got the new catalog at my store yesterday....Not terribly thrilled but we'll see.

  5. Well, I just went to wrap up one of the Tortoise Cluster bracelets F4901 (the bracelet with the tortoise disks, sparkly lucite stars and pearls). Great price, but unless you have a child sized wrist there's no way it will fit. I have a small wrist and I know my intended recipient does as well, but it's still too short to put on. I'm annoyed I didn't try to fasten it at the store. I bought two in store and then ordered a third. I will definitely bring the two from the store back. I might try to DIY an extender for the third which was ordered online final sale, but if I can't do it using materials I have without it looking junky it's going back too.

  7. Ok, so I have tracked down the final pair of shoes that I have been wanting since I first laid eyes on them...The mixed plaid ankle strap flats, f1296. There was one pair left in the entire world in size 8 and they were on sale for $109.99 less 50% off and coming out of Indianapolis. I will croak if I find a pair at the clearance store, but I don't think that will happen. I was told that J.Crew is tightening their policies on hunting for sale items for customers, never waiving the shipping unless full price and who knows what else. I don't think this is the way to go personally. I don't see the big deal about looking up locations for stuff for customers and giving the customer the phone number to call. I ended up buying not only the shoes but also a pair of pants. I think it was probably worth it to the store to complete my quick transaction. They should be trying to accommodate not the other way around. Customer service should be a big focus for them especially with their declining sales. I was told they really need to move stuff to make room for the new roll out so I would not think telling a customer about why they can't do something for you would be productive for them. They could have looked up the item in the same time they are giving me the lecture or at least take your information and try to help you during their down time. I am a good customer and I expect to be treated that way! I am super excited about my shoes!!!

    1. Agree 100% on the CS comments. I've been lectured and over-talked to the last 10 times I've been to the store, and I can't wait to get out of there. JCrew's customer service has always been exemplary. Do not, I repeat, do not mess it up. It keeps your customers for life. We buy stuff on full price if the price is fair, materials are stellar and condition is A+. That's all it's about. If it's on sale, we love a good sale hunt. We've been through thick and thin. But we will not survive poor customer service. Even the big department stores are now learning to treat customers better. Neiman Marcus, etc, are doing amazing things DURING sales season.

    2. I could not agree more re: customer service and getting lectured when someone 'makes an exception' for me (free shipping if I order a sale item from a store, price adjustment on further sale, or after 8 days not 7, etc). If you can't do it, that's fine, if you can do it, great, but just be nice about it either way. I don't enjoy being talked down to. If the experience of shopping at jcrew/dealing with personnel is negative, I'm not going to want to come back. I honestly hate going into my local store if I need to do a return, because half the time I get attitude or a comment about the fact that I'm returning something again, and it makes me uncomfortable. The policies on returns, price adjustments, phone orders etc should be consistent, and then, it shouldn't be a problem for a customer to use that service. If they don't want to provide the service, fine, don't. Don't do it and then scold me for it.

    3. Recently I emailed Tory Burch in search of an item that was sold out on their web site. They emailed me back in less than 24 hours and told me which retail stores had it in stock and ask me to call customer service to arrange a charge send. The item was on sale with an extra 30% off and they even offered to gift wrap which I declined. It arrived quickly, in perfect condition, and was wrapped in tissue. I hope Jcrew can take note.

    4. SHopping Celle,
I just had the same experience at TOry BUrch. And, what popped into my head later that evening was that, even with the sale, and the 30% off, and the great CS, the item is NOT final sale.

  8. Stopped by my local store, very disappointed to see so few updates in the sale section, seems like it's been the same bunch of t-shirts and sweaters for the past two months. The shoes were good prices and very nicely organized by size, but nothing of interest to me. I did see the little gingham bucket bag, which is very cute, but it's so small I know I'd only get limited use out of it so didn't bite on that, though I was tempted at $45 CAD.

  9. Received today the Sadie flats in black suede. The fit is good-TTS, for my so-so wide feet. I am loving the vamp-very cool. I'm on the fence about the suede though..I wish it came in leather instead.

    1. Thanks for the review @JSR. I love the look of these shoes but, in general, I am not a fan of suede. I'm still tempted to give them a try.

    2. You are welcome, maryeb! Hard to pick which shoes I want to buy first, since my size sells out fast. :-P

    3. @JSR, thank you for this review I've been so curious and my closest store didn't get them yet. I have too many suede shoes that are hard to wear because of weather etc. so I'm hoping they release some in solid leather colours. They have a snakeskin leather print did you see those sadies?

      Delete
    4. Hi Jan - Yea the snakeskin w the strap? Not feeling it as much, but I like the snakeskin loafers w the tassel!

    5. Hi JSR, not the sling backs but there's actually a Sadie in snakeskin print with cap toe (Elsie's also coming in it too I think). It's on the site if you type in snakeskin or search by sadie. :)

    6. Jan - Oh...now I see. It is cute!

  10. I am really liking the Cap Sleeve Dress in shirting stripe. But why on earth is it released around this time? It looks more like a Spring dress than pre-Fall.

  11. I was at TJ Maxx and they had a few pairs of J. Crew espadrilles. I tried to figure out what year they were from, but they don't seem to tag those like they do the clothing (with SU15, FA14, etc). They were not Soludos. There was blue tie dye and a striped cap toe. I think they could be Factory, although it just said J Crew on them.

I probably won't go into the store until next week when new arrivals are in.

  12. just got the collection leather motorcycle jacket in ash! shipping has been super fast for me. took a day to get to NYC. the leather isn't as soft as it could be, but it's definitely not PVC-like as written in the reviews about the cassis color. It's a thicker leather but it doesn't feel heavy or anything. The color is a warm gray that goes with everything! i thought the hardware would be a bit more flashy but its actually a toned down gold - not quite brass - but zero shine. I'd recommend that you size up if you want to fit a layer underneath. I'm a 0 in the regent blazer and I can wear a blouse comfortably, but I felt restricted in the 0 for this jacket, so I'm exchanging it for a 2. Some reviews said it was boxy, but I thought it was rather fitted compared to other motorcycle-style leather jackets. I can't wait to wear it in the fall!

    1. I own the navy and love it. It feels like it was made for a petite person. I own a 0. If I go for a 2, it would look a little big on me, too boxy. And with the 0, I didn't mind not being able to zip it up. The jacket looks better unzipped.

  13. I was the J crew website and found a 'pre-order' item. I found that strange. Anyway, I typed in 'pre-order' in the search bar and then refined to 'women'. Lo and behold, 4 pages of the new rollout popped up for me. You can pre-order now, apparently. Get your sneak peak now, ladies. Not sure if this pre-order feature has always been around or just a glitch. Anyway, go and see the new rollout for fall!

    2. Wendy - thanks for the tip! I found a bunch of cool new items. The all - day tote will be mine, not sure whether I'll get the yellow or the indigo. Lots of the clothes are surprisingly summery though.

    3. @stripedsocks--You're so welcome! Love stripes in any season! LOL!

@cousy-You're so welcome! Glad you found some cool stuff. I agree, so many summery clothes for fall rollout. I'm wondering that it's not the entire rollout that's for pre order? Not sure, but it's always nice to see a sneak peak!

  14. I stopped in today to return the navy fringe sandals - I couldn't pull them off. I have, on the other hand, been loving the heck out of my black suede tassel sandals.

I bought the frayed denim pencil skirt (took my usual J.Crew denim skize) and the newer black/white ruffle sleeve top (took the smaller of my two sizes) - the skirt was part of the 30% off promotion and the SA gave me the 30% on the top too which was nice. She also talked me in to the collection snakeskin multistrap sandals which she had just purchased and said she loved - certainly a weak moment and hoping they work out.

  15. Hi all, i order few things from the sales this week. I ordered my favorite item collection suede pants in navy. Package is lost. Never happened before. I called ups and filed a official search. Called jcrew but have not heard from them in 2 days. Does anyone know the process for lost packages, how does it work!!!! Thank you all for your help and suggestions...

    1. Hi Kate - I placed a JC order last month. I received a shipment notice, but the status never moved beyond the shipping label being generated. After a few days, I called J.Crew who said the package was picked up the next day. It came from a store and I think they called the store to ask them since I was put on hold for a while. However, the package never ended up in the UPS or USPS system, so calls to UPS and USPS yielded nothing. Because I had been charged, J.Crew refunded the purchase price for the lost order and re-ordered the items at the same price. The “no moving beyond shipping label generated status” has occurred for orders from Banana Republic and Lord & Taylor; similar to JC, those retailers refunded the original purchase price and reordered the items for me. I conclude that: 1) the store pulled the merchandise and printed a shipping label, but the items never made it into a package and were purchased by someone else or ended up back on the floor, OR 2) UPS lost it between pickup at the store and tracking at their facility. In spite of MANY J.Crew orders over the years, this was the first time a package from them got “lost”. Given the massive piles of brown envelopes I’ve seen toted out of the stores (not at holiday time), I gave JC a pass on it. Unfortunately, it looks like your item may be sold out. I would see if JC can put you on their 30-day waitlist (it exists), so if your size and color show up somewhere, you can get it. BTW, I have those pants and they are pretty great. I have seen that style elsewhere. Mary Orton from Memorandum sported a pair several weeks ago, and The Limited carries them in camel (on sale now with lots of sizes). P.S. My mother had a funny story about a critical work document that never showed up to a client. It was returned to her office a few years later when the building was conducting some elevator repairs. Despite her personally handing it to the FedEx carrier, the slim envelope decided to take a detour off the carrier’s dolly and down the elevator shaft. So, it happens . . . Good luck, Jennifer

    2. Wow! Jennifer, thanks so much for your detailed response. I did contact ups and they were able to gps the adress of delivery, I heard nothing for few days and filed an official claim. I called Jcrew and they said they would get back to me. So far it's been 3 days no word from anyone. Yes, the pants sold out, too bad. I will call and ask for a search/hold. I also emailed my VPS, but have not heard form her, I bought them through her, and she is usually quick to reaspond. This year I got empty packages, wrong items, coat with soiled napkin, pants with a needle in a hem... But never a lost one. I guess 1st time for everything. Thank you again for your support. Best... Kate
