There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The January catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest February catalog is not. As mentioned in yesterday's post, J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).
Even better! J.Crew is offering free shipping on all orders for today. Plus, they are still running 40% off Final Sale (no min! both online and probably 50% off in stores!) with promo code HAPPYSALE. This offer expires February 4, 2014. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of final sale items in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com from January 29, 2014, 12:01am ET through February 4, 2014, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in the 769 Madison Avenue Store, Ludlow Shops, Liquor Store, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. In-store discount automatically taken at the register. To redeem online, enter code HAPPYSALE in the promo code box at checkout. Valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change. No returns or exchanges on final sale items. After checking the new arrivals, here are my top three picks:
**Free shipping valid on any purchase made at jcrew.com on January 29, 2014, from 12:01am ET through 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases and cannot be redeemed for cash. Free shipping automatically applied at checkout. Offer is valid on orders shipping to the continental U.S. and U.S. P.O. Boxes via economy shipping (6 to 8 business days) and to Canada via standard shipping (4 to 7 business days). Return requests must be made in accordance with our return policy. Terms of offer are subject to change.
* Cutout floral sweatshirt (item A2668; $75.00). This is a gorgeous, but casual little number.
* Baseball cap in Liberty strawberry thief floral (item 13398; $58.00). An adorably feminine take on the masculine accessory.
*Pleated poplin skirt (item A0841; $128.00). Do my eyes deceive me, is that a full, knee length skirt from J.Crew?
I also noticed J.Crew is doing a lot more partnership items like the camera(?!?) Interesting collection of items. Not sure I would buy them from J.Crew though (unless on super sale).
What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

ReplyDeleteI would love to see more sale jewelry pop back online. do we know for sure if B&M stores have shipped back sale merchandise yet? like someone else asked yesterday, I wonder if they'll still run a similar promo when the stores have shipped back merchandise and they need to get rid of it. hopefully that will happen, because I have a few necklaces I've been stalking lately, and as much as I like factory, their jewelry just isn't cutting it.
ReplyDeleteWent to my local store here in Carmel, all sale items were gone.
DeleteThere are a few things I quite like from this little roll out; I actually dog eared my catalog, something I haven't done in a while. I also love that they are offering skirts longer in length. I am so sick of the mini:
ReplyDelete*Downing tote: Love all three colors, and love that it comes in navy-you don't see true navy totes that often, but I would probably go with the English Saddle
*Denim pencil skirt in Medium Hickman Wash- I love me a good denim pencil skirt and I love the "rock and rollish" look of this wash
*Soft pencil skirt in Rosewood. So pretty and I love front slit skirts. And it's longer in length.
*Callie metallic sandle in Metallic Gold. So pretty with a wearable heal
*Surf jacket- the jury is out on this one until I see it in person, but I love the idea of the mixed fabrics and slimmer fabric on the arms.
I can't wait to check out items in stores, but will probably hold off for a promo and/ or rewards card before buying anything.
Can't wait to hear JCAs' picks!

ReplyDeleteAlthough it's boring, I'm happy to see the new cotton trouser, the Bristol trouser, item a1209. It's also great to see several Tall options: the chambray blazer a3097, matte crepe tee a3670, the silk dress in antique floral a3863 and the tiered dress in blurred floral a3973. Regardless of what one thinks of them, more choices is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see anything I had to have, or at least at full price. One interesting thing is that I see some Crewcuts items now come in size 16 which {I think} is new. I can usually wear tees in size 14 but not sweaters, several sweaters are now coming in 16 although I didn't see any measurements on the size chart yet.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for mentioning this! I wouldn't have noticed otherwise. My girls wear size 14 in jeans and shorts, and having another size up is fabulous for our family.
DeleteI'm pretty underwhelmed by this rollout. I don't love the antique floral print or the nightgarden floral (although agree that Liberty baseball cap is adorable). Perhaps they will read better in person. To me, many of the items look the same or similar to items that have been languishing in sale for weeks and months now. I put the Metallic Evie sandal on my wishlist and I like the silk sweatshirt top in the bright jade. Nothing else made it onto my wishlist.
ReplyDeleteMy new arrival picks guys!
ReplyDeletehttp://eileentheooer.blogspot.com/2014/01/jcrew-february-new-arrivals.html
I got my catalog and initially wasn't too excited. A lot pastels, which I don't like. I do LOVE the looks of the pleated poplin skirt. I'll definitely be checking that one out!
ReplyDeleteOh for heck sakes! I just stopped at my store to check out the pleated poplin skirt. They didn't get it! The last thing I wanted to see IRL they didn't get either. GEEZ! I just don't get it.
DeleteBored to tears.
ReplyDeleteThat camera is adorable, but is selling over on Amazon for $62 + free shipping...I'm just going to pick it up there!
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention.....Opening with those jeans that I can't wear and NONE of the skinny young people at my store say they can't wear either kinda bugged me. They all steered me to Gap, where they buy their jeans. I went and yep.....they've got great fitting chooses there.
ReplyDeleteStray Cat, I am a huge fan of Gap jeans. They have many more styles than J. Crew. There's something for everyone. Not everything is low rise, which I appreciate. You will find something there for sure!
DeleteGap Real Straight jeans are awesome! I have too many pairs to count. Really, really comfortable with a reasonable rise (not low, not too high). Gap is always having a promotion so you can't beat the price.
DeleteWhich JC jeans are you referring to?
DeleteCount me in on Gap denim...I recently switched back to their denim. JC's are always cut too full in the thighs (even when I gained weight). Gap's are better fitting all around. I also prefer Madewell's denim & cords (from a few years ago) but found better deals this year at Gap.
DeleteIs anyone else creeped out by the 360 view on JCrew's denim page? It's probably just me but each model's 360 is very 'stiff'.
Totally agree with you all on Gap Jeans! Now about the denim layout. If I showed up ANYWHERE looking like the gal on page one people would ask me "What happened!!!??? Are you ok?!!!" Seriously....is sloppy cool?? maybe if you're a rock star or something. Now how about the denim pencil skirt with the bleached out thighs....oy vey.
DeleteAgreed. The new denim offerings are unimpressive, and the photos on the website are dreadful. Not just sloppy - DOWDY.
DeleteI thought one of the denim shirts was cool but I wouldn't pay the asking price. I buy my "everyday" jeans at the Gap, too. The Skinny Skinny is my fav. I also really like Madewell jeans and pants. Just donated my white JC Matchsticks to Goodwill recently. They never fit right. I don't think I have any other JC jeans. As for the entire new catalog-- I got it last night, completely beat up by the Post Office. It's ok but nothing is a "must have." Plus, spring is a loooooooong way off here in Chicago. I didn't notice anything radically different from last spring/summer. Nothing that needs my immediate attention, anyway. The only thing I like are the tees with French sayings. I don't like anything floral.
DeleteI'm kind of in love with the long pencil skirt in geometric stripe. Not in love with the price though.
ReplyDeleteAgree!! Almost $500 for a poly skirt? What are they smoking over there?
DeleteThe last 2 pairs of J. Crew jeans I bought, ripped at the knees in less than a year. For over $100 a pop, I will not be jumping on the J. Crew denim bandwagon. I love Gap jeans for the trendy looks: polka dots, colors, cropped, etc. And I am loving Kut from the Kloth jeans. I get them at a local boutique, and I believe Nordstrom carries them. Great price points, and they fit perfectly!
ReplyDeleteAs for this rollout: I am loving the textured dot flair top and the merino silk panel sweater. Wish my rewards were here. I would buy, J. Crew. I feel like the store's timing is all off. Rewards should be here for the new rollout, right?!?!
I wishlisted a few items, but want to see them in stores before buying anything. I love that baseball cap though. I usually don't wear them, but the print is too cute.
ReplyDeletefyi- white, navy and black jackie cardigans are on promo. it might be a good time to stock up on the basic colors.
ReplyDeleteI like the eyelet top shown with the textured stripe short, but don't see it on-line.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/shorts/PRDOVR~A2472/A2472.jsp
The sunburst skirt in stripe is intriguing. I'm also eying the drapey crepe pencil, but am not sure how well crepe skirts hold up. Seems like they might be prone to snags.
Maryeb,i reviewed the skirt on my blog.
DeleteIt was a total miss for me fit-wise,but it might work on taller ladies.
My crepe cap sleeve dress snagged on a necklace I was wearing. Wear with caution!
DeleteThanks for reviewing so many new items, Ina!
DeleteGood to know, Cate. You confirmed my suspicions.
I too am a bit disappointed over this roll out...nothing that I just have to have...actually nothing I want...Saving my money in hopes March has more to offer. :)
ReplyDeleteFor me the shoes are the bright spot of this rollout - I like a lot of them (for the first time in several seasons!). The Bristol pants hold promise as well. I will look at the toggle coat IRL.
ReplyDeleteThe Collection short jackets are a nightmare - if they look that bad on the models, how will they look on the rest of us? JC has taken the cropped boxy thing way too far.
Cousy, I agree with your comments about the shoes. That was about all that I was interested in for this rollout. And I laghed when I saw the Collection short jackets. They looked way too small for the models and I can only imagine how small they would be for real life.
DeleteLoved seeing some new stuff but nothing I want to add to my closet. Lots of synthetics make it easy to stay away. $400+ for a poly skirt? Why do they need to add rayon to the new pants Bristol and Campbell?
ReplyDeleteI wonder about the addition of rayon too. Does this mean my pants will stretch out during the day?
DeleteLower prices coming? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/29/j-crew-lower-prices-spring-2014_n_4686720.html?utm_hp_ref=style&ir=Style
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have access to the WWD article?
DeleteFinally!
DeleteHere's the essential quote:
Delete"For spring, you'll see our prices much more friendly this year," CEO Mickey Drexler said at an event covered by Women's Wear Daily. "We can't compete with designers."
We shouldn't get too excited about this pledge to lower prices. This is apparently going to apply to their "regular" offerings, not collection items. Since collection is now such a big part of the overall line, I don't see this will help much.
DeleteI don't know about you but I don't think the collection toggle coat is very friendly at $595:)
DeleteYawn!
ReplyDeleteThat baseball hat is the Nina Taylor print, not the Strawberry Thief. I own the Nina Taylor popover, just wore it last week. I know I'm nitpicking but you'd think they'd be consistent with the fabric names!
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of the seemingly wider cuff on the Campbell Capri. I love the Cafe Capris - has it been confirmed that they're being phased out? In looking through the style guide yesterday the only thing that really caught my eye was the silk-panel sweater in antique floral. I also liked the orchid plaid boy shirt but won't bite as I already own the neon purple gingham boy shirt.
I saw the orchid plaid boyshirt yesterday and it looked very crinke-ly to me.I also own the neon purple gingham shirt and it is way nicer IMO.
DeleteThanks, Ina, now I know I'm not missing anything! :)
DeleteI've liked more in this rollout than I have in a long time, probably because I have a lot of similar pieces in my closet and recreate catalog looks that I like. I do want to see the following IRL.
ReplyDeleteNew matchsticks - the rise on this is 0.75" higher than the older matchsticks. I'm looking forward to trying these.
Hooded basked-weave jacket - I'm liking the not-black navy color and the cut. Looks versatile for spring.
Reversible leather belt - my husband has a reversible belt and I always thought it was so cool. I wish they had a picture of the reverse side. What color is "haven" supposed to be?
Downing tote - This looks like JC's answer to the MW transport tote - same color, same price point. I like the detachable "wallet" but don't know if I like the pinked edge detail.
Weekend sweats - I like that these aren't a cotton/poly blend. I may pick up some to replace my old standbys if the fit is good (ie, not too short).
Aubrey midheel sandals - I don't buy JC shoes anymore because I find them to be too uncomfortable, but the red ones are pretty. I may have to admire them from afar - it'll be months until it's both warm AND dry enough to wear them.
I am curious about the replacement of classic items such as the cafe capri with the Campbell, Darby/Cleo, Cece/Emma, etc. I can't help but suspect that the new versions are cheaper to produce, yet the item price is the same for us. I guess we'll see what the verdict is when JCA reviews start rolling in.
Hi silver-lining,i tried the weekend sweats and i lked them a lot. I have a pic on my blog:)
DeleteWhile I enjoy looking through the new spring arrival (especially that we are so sick of this polar vortex weather we’ve been getting this winter), there is nothing that I would pay full price for that I can’t wait.
ReplyDeleteNow if they are willing to bring back the promos they did this past season, 25-30% full price item, then maybe I will bite. Until then, thanks but no thanks.
I haven't bought/kept anything from J. Crew since September (though I did buy a couple of super old popbacks in Oct). But I must say, I'm excited about this rollout, particularly:
ReplyDeleteThe Hooded Basket-Weave Jacket (seriously perfect for San Francisco weather in the spring)
Sweatery tunics (I love tunics, but I want something more substantial and not see-through)
Sunburst Skirt in Stripe (it actually comes in petite sizes, wahoo!)
I'm definitely feeling more hope for J. Crew's Spring collection than I did originally when I saw those paint-splattered pants...
Hi Dmitri, I was just at the SF downtown location today and saw the Hooded Basket-weave jacket. It's nice in person. It looks expensive for the price. Thick enough for that SF weather...
Deleteooh thanks for the heads-up! hopefully i'll have time to check it out in-person this weekend

ReplyDeleteI decided to update my review and point out specific dislikes/changes I would like to see. I don't care for the capris because even the models look stumpy. IMO, these pants truly do not flatter many--and the flat shoe choices aren't helping. At least change the too-low rise if you are going to keep pushing them.
DeleteShort rise+short length=especially short looking.
Tennis shoes with said capris and work dresses? Just. No. Same with the heavy black flats with floral capris. Yuck.
The chunky, I cannot-believe-you-even-made-something-so-TERRIBLY-unflattering sandals, bring any outfit down.
J Crew. Please make some full length pants. They can be skinny, wide or somewhere in the middle. Also, please make them with a higher rise. That is the most unflattering thing about the majority of the pants you put out. You can do this--branch out--get crazy--we know you can:)
Lastly, where are those reduced starting prices I just read about in an old online article? Seems they were promised for Spring but I don't see it.
I posted my picks here.
ReplyDeleteMy picks are the the cutout floral sweatshirt in navy, the Viv bow silver flats and some basic merino sweaters.
ReplyDeleteI also like the Fujifilm instax camera.
Since I'm into instant cameras-kind of a throwback to old school Polaroids, with its cute design and color, it definitely caught my eye, I might want the white color. But for that price, its a joke! Come on J.Crew, what are you doing to us?
I googled this item: Best Buy, $62.99; Staples, $80.49; Amazon $69.99; Film at J.Crew $20, for a twin pack at Amazon, $13.40...Say whaaat??
And I'm sure their return/exchange policy is way better.
Why would I risk buying it from J.Crew!
Well, at least thanks for letting me know such a cute item exists and that I can get it cheaper elsewhere...
So I wasn't blown away by this Feb. roll-out. Only some items but not a lot...
I actually went to the store today to make a return. Saw a couple of items that I thought looked cute in person: The Hooded Basket Weave Jacket, Crepe Shift Dress, Sunburst Skirt...
DeleteI love the silk cat print shirt. Very pretty and original.
ReplyDeleteI liked that too, very cute, but it seemed a bit short on me.
DeleteThe Viv printed bow flats are darling. Anyone know how the sizing is on these?
ReplyDeleteMajesty peacoat is back to fp. I'm so glad mine shipped.
ReplyDeleteI ordered too and mine shipped as well! I'm excited and hope it fits!!!!
DeleteTalk about price fluctuation...
DeleteAs many of you I always enjoy looking at the new arrivals but nothing that I have to have so far. I would have bought the poplin skirt in a heartbeat if it came in white. I don't know why they chose to make it in dark navy... I like the new "neon" swimsuits and I might try a couple if they offer a promo BEFORE Spring Break.
ReplyDeleteI did order the Carrie dress on a popback for a song though this norning. I wasn't too crazy about it last year but for $17 I think I am not going to complain (I know it was 50% off until yesterday but I am not going to cry over the $3 difference, especially with free shipping). Also ordered a Tippi (my first!) for $27, in any case it's freezing here and I don't want to get too excited about things that are fp and I will be able to wear only in five months.
I picked up a red tippi too, a pair if cords ($15) a cashmere scarf and a trapper hat because it's freezing here. I can't even imagine spring with all this snow!
ReplyDeleteI think that camera is super cute! I actually bought three Fujifilm cameras like that (but not in pink) for my rehearsal dinner three years ago when I got married. I handed the cameras over to three younger guests and let them run around taking pictures of everyone. They had a great time, and everyone had great souvenirs to take home.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking at the boyfriend fatigue jacket, I reviewed it here. Nets $95 w/HAPPYSALE. Remember free ship no min today only. The jacket is on promo, so not final sale at the moment.
ReplyDeletehmm, anyone else have problem with the code not working? mine does not apply the discount.
ReplyDeleteGiant update to FS this morning, over 1500 in the women's section
ReplyDeleteThings that piqued my interest:
ReplyDelete*Hooded basket-weave jacket (not much need for this, sadly)
*Downing tote (curious of the quality…make like for traveling)
*Bristol trouser in stretch cotton (finally a long pant!)
*Skinny weekend sweatpant and Side-stripe skinny sweatpant (I love a cute sweatpant…need a good sale on these)
Also like a few of the popovers; however, I can rarely do a popover.
I do like the floral sweatshirt too. It reminds me of the Madewell cutout sweatshirt, which I just tried on a couple weeks ago. My only issue with Madewell’s version is the cutouts were too low and a cami was needed underneath.
Overall, nothing too excited, but I can hope for next go around. I really would like to see some nice skirts and dresses....my closet is lacking now in this department.
