J.Crew: 30% Off "Present Perfect" Styles

"Thanks!" to many of you, including YoungJJ (in this post), who shared the following news/ email from J.Crew with us.

J.Crew is offering customers a special treat: 30% off select "present perfect" favorites. To take advantage of this offer online, use promo code PRESENTS. This offer expires December 8, 2013. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of Unwrap More Event styles at jcrew.com from December 6, 2013, 12:01am through December 8, 2013, 11:59pm ET. Discount valid on styles found on the Unwrap More Event page only. Offer not valid in J.Crew stores, J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. To redeem, enter code PRESENTS in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change. .
This is an okay promotion. Not as good as the universal 25-30% off offers we have seen in the past week or two. On a bright note, it is only running for two days. Enough time for JCAs who are interested in certain items on sale to buy -and- for JCas who are not interested to wait it out.

The fine print states that this offer is not available in stores. Although, I am almost certain store associates would honor the online prices. Never hurts to ask!

Also, I am thinking that B&M stores will continue to run an additional 30-40 percent off their sale. (I recently stopped by one of my local J.Crew stores and it was overflowing with sale merchandise. I am sure they want to move out that merchandise as quickly as possible.)

Will you be taking advantage of this offer? Is your local B&M store running any promotions? If so, please share! :)

  1. I think I'll pick up some non-flannel pajama pants with this one. I'm interested in the wool-cashmere turtleneck too, has anyone tried this and what's it like?

    1. Cate- I don't want to over-sell the wool-cashmere sweater but I bought it in every color. It is my favorite sweater from j crew in a long time! It's soft, beautiful, thick and has a chic large oversized turtleneck. I'm not sure your body type or style you prefer, but it's a relaxed fit. I bought my true size- it's slightly oversized and kind of a swing body. It's not a fitted sweater! It fits me exactly like the model. I think it's a winter staple.

    2. That sounds like the fit I like. Thanks so much for chiming in about it! It's always good to have a review before buying.

  2. More of these kinds of promos....ugh ! I don't care for them at all....as all of these items are over priced to begin with. I have again had to "beg" for price adj. as of late. The pricing games are wearing me out...so yes I will sit this one out and wait for what is next. Anyone have any idea what Sunday will bring. Black Friday was poor and was cyber Monday. I bet J Crew is down from last year at this time. The inventory is not exciting at all....

    1. The pricing games are annoying, I agree. No one wants to feel ripped off if the item goes on sale the next day or before shipped items are delivered. CS has been good about honoring the adjustments, though.

I noticed with this current "PRESENTS" promotion, the items in my wish list are not denoted as "on sale" or "promo." So, in order to see which items are on promo, I have to look through the entire inventory to determine is something I wanted is eligible for promo. I initially loved the wish list because it saved time trying to find which items were on sale, but not so much anymore.

  4. So, I've been thinking about buying the Silk Cami 21421, and it went on promo today. I noticed that it always says "final sale." I emailed J.Crew asking why the item is always final sale because I wanted to try it on for fit, comfort, quality, feel, etc. and have the option to return if it didn't meet my standards, especially since many items have bizarre fit/fabric lately and need to be returned, lately. (They don't sell these in my local store.) This was their response:

"Thanks for your interest in our Silk Cami. Due to the intimate nature of the item, it is final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

If you're concerned about sizing, we would be happy to help. Just let us know what size you're thinking of ordering and we'll be glad to provide the exact measurements for you."

I'm really confused. I emailed back asking if they were serious and how exactly is a silk cami more intimate than any other cami, silk blouse, bikini top (or bottom!), all of which are returnable? Am I missing something?

    1. That is nutty! Call and talk to a person. I've seen this in the store, it isn't even lingerie.

    2. Aileen - I've tried the silk cami and it runs tts, to the larger side. M was big on me. I was surprised. I much prefer the cate cami which has a thin lining and the wider straps. There are bra keeps in the straps, too.

      * Cate cami review
      * gilded Cate & iced lilac Cate paisley cami reviews

As far as cs, that was a silly response. They should've stuck w/the usual party line of...our prices are so low on sale blah blah, final sale.

    3. That's crazy. It's not on real markdown so that's not an excuse. Swimsuits are returnable, but a silk cami is not?

    4. I went down to a Small in the Silk Cami, I do think it runs a bit big.

    5. Thanks everyone! This is CS most recent response (it still makes no sense in light of other returnable items worn next to the skin):

"Although this item can be worn on its own (as similarly modeled on our website), it is traditionally meant to be worn as an undergarment, under another top. For this reason, we consider as an "intimate" item, and ineligible for return or exchange.

With that said, I can understand your desire to ensure the fit and sizing. If you'd like to place your order for this item and reply to this email with the order number, we'll be glad to leave a note to allow for its return. Please be aware that we may not be able to honor this for you in the future. This item is also available in our retail stores, so you can try one on before purchasing."

    6. Good grief, it's not an undergarment! It is not modeled as one because it is NOT one. Plus, they'll take back swimwear when it does not happen to be final sale! They are being totally ridiculous.

    7. It's like CS is given a special Crew magic eight ball which they shake before giving out whatever canned response appears... The last response I got, when inquiring about an online only item that had quickly gone to final sale, was that 'there was such low inventory left that exchanges wouldn't be possible.' Mind you, the item was showing full stock in all sizes at the time... Sometimes JC makes you work harder than necessary to give them your money...

    8. I size down one in the silk camis to xxs because the size is generous.

    9. I noticed this morning that the silk cami is no longer listed as final sale. I guess CS passed along the feedback and changed it. Way to go!

  5. Totally OT, but I have been noticing that my packages that are supposedly being sent via UPS / USPS are being delivered by UPS in the usual time. The tracking information states: "UPS will attempt delivery; package will not be transferred to local post office for delivery."

This has happened with a few packages since J. Crew started using the UPS / USPS option.

    1. I've had this happen quite a bit, too! I like UPS delivery versus USPS. That being said, I just saw my latest order was turned over to USPS by UPS. Con-Could've been out for delivery today ! Pro-Post office still delivering on Saturdays!
I don't understand how this system operates!

  6. It's interesting to me what this promo does not include.

Many of JC's LBD's (Collection lace dress, floral jacquard glitter dress, gold stripe dress, scalloped lace shirred dress) are not selling, even though most are marked down and have been eligible for the % off sales in the last couple of weeks.

To my eyes there's nothing wrong with any of these dresses, but nothing exciting or special about them either.

It seems to me that JC would be smart to keep the spotlight on these dresses because the interest in them will plummet after New Year's.

  7. Just got my jeweled clusters sweaters in navy and lavender and there's lots to love! They are fitted and short and slim...very flattering for a petite. The jewels are elegant and subtle ...not garish or blingy. They are almost everything I wanted last season's jeweled sweatshirts to be.
Cons are that the sleeves are short on me....and I am a shrimp...so if you are normal sized I would size up. Regular sizes are normally too long on me...and this could gave been petite sizing...it's that short. Also, if you are sensitive to wool, it's itchy...but all wool is itchy on me. I am leaning towards keeping these...but I am definitely hanging onto the receipts as if one jewel falls off, the sweater can't be worn.

Also got the merino tippi in heather mint..lovely pistachio color...and the matchstick jean....which I love! Contemplating another....should I save some coin and go factory?

  8. Visited my B&M today. Saw some new markdowns, ratti geo popover, plaid shirt in garnet flame, moroccan necklace $99.99, boy shirt in tropical cove plaid. Stores were running 30% off sale items.

  9. I did a quick visit to the vancouver Robson street store. The sale section is pretty big. Garnet flame plaid shirt, merino scarf sweater, camel sweater all in a range of sizes. They also had a ton of the leather front cardigan marked down to $227 cdn with an additional 40% off. That is they are offering 40 % off all sale items.

  10. Although I had economy shipping, the order I placed on Monday was delivered to day by UPS. Woohoo!

The opaque tights are great, but they have a chemical smell. Is this normal?

Unfortunately, the shirttail mini in wool runs quite large. I ordered the 00 and it sat way down on the middle of my hipbones--like super low-rise jeans. It was not a good look. I really hate being sized out of clothes. :(

  13. The downtown Seattle store had a great sale section, with 30% off, and 40% for card holders. There were lots of ballet flats on deep discount, in lots of sizes. Also, promos on outerwear, sleepwear, accessories. . . best selection I've seen there in ages.

  15. met a tough SA today - would not honor the 30% off pointing out the fine print on the bottom that it doesn't apply to store purchases. have to say i was a bit shocked and ended up just walking away.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It seems so random… Yesterday a SA got me a tippi via the (red) phone and asked for the online 30% discount and free shipping, which they applied to my order. I'm sure Suilove and I will remember our respective experiences next time we need to make a purchase. It would be in the company's interest if JCrew instructed their SAs to be on the costumer's side in these cases, imho.

    1. me too ! I really hope its not a 25% off all outerwear or just sweater promo like they ran for a whole week a while back. I would like to see a % across the board.

  18. My favorite SA tells me that tomorrow is percent off sale.
