Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Talbots and Anthro have had very good dresses at decent prices. The talbots polka dot dress has a jcrew feel imo and anthro always offers very well made cotton an silk dresses. I went with my regular size for each dress http://ebelandi.com/category/sissifashion/

  2. Banana Republic - BRCARD gets 40% off for cardholders Wed, 8/28 only. Also good in-store. Email implies that sale will open up for non-carholders on Thursday.

  3. BR drives me crazy with their pricing games. Their orders also take forever. I ordered two things--the Camden pants and the animal print coat--over a week ago.

First there was a 30% off sale, and I asked for a price adjustment. They granted me an adjustment for the coat, but not the pants which they said were a "BR pick."

Now I can get 40% off everything. So I have indeed reordered, and will send the first package back when it arrives. Shopping shouldn't be like this.

I initially ordered right away because I didn't want my size to run out . . . but I really should know better than to order anything at full price ever (including the Issa stuff, which I returned because of poor quality. And we complain about poor quality! THAT was poor quality).

  4. Not exactly JCrew like retail (though some polyester pieces may indeed match up some recent Crew items) but the H&M stores now allow for online shopping, just as Zara does.

  5. This is a good time to check out the off-price cousins of the larger department stores (Last Call, Rack...). Yesterday I found Barbour Field Jackets at Last Call. Per the tag original retail was $298 - Last Call price $149. They applied a 40% discount at the register so final price was $90. J Crew's Downtown Field Jacket is still FP at $148. So you may find the real thing for less money. BTW my store also had several Belstaff jackets if you prefer that brand.

  6. Ann Taylor has a Kissing Foxes sweater if that's more your thing than horses.

AT's Colorblocked Silk Blouse reminds me of JCrew's Silk Boy Shirt in Contrast Trim, but in a different color scheme.

  7. Chiming in regarding Last Call--I found AG jeans there as well. I really love the way that AG jeans fit, and stretch, but don't stretch out. I find that the AG Stilt also last longer than the AG Stevie, sold by Anthropologie.

    1. I actually just got an email from Nordstrom Rack advertising AG Denim starting at $90.

  8. I actually think that Loft has had some really nice roll outs recently, a lot of J Crewesque items- jewel collar tops, leather panelling, zipper front pocket pencil skirts, rich patterns and deep fall colors. Their Marisa straight stretchy pants are a much more flattering alternative for me than the Minnie.

  9. Everything Coach (sale and full price items) is 20% off at Macy's for Labor Day weekend. If you have a Macy's card you get 20% off on top of that. They do not carry every single model/color, but I was able to get the Mini Tanner I wanted 40% off and with free shipping. So happy!

(I think the SA mentioned that even if you do not have the Macy's card you can get a day pass online for the extra 20%.)

I hear Coach is going to send 25% off coupons for Labor Day too, but I do not know for sure; I never got one...
