Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Thanks to all who shared their summer purchases on Fridays post. It’s fun to compare.

This weekend I wore the bead and stone earrings to a wedding and then to an event with friends the following day. Strangers stopped me to compliment them. That’s a win!

I wore the boxy white button down shirt for the first time. I bought two of these in June in XS and S. Well...I removed the tags and sitting in the car I noticed a big round yellow stain on my arm. Luckily I just rolled the sleeve. I didn’t notice it when I bought the shirt and when I tried it on at home. So...when I got home I looked. This stain is only visible in sunlight. WTF?

Oh and packing for our little overnight I wasn’t sure what to wear on Sunday because it was an outdoor event but the weather was due to be cool. I wanted to have short options but pants too. Well...why in a situation like this does it feel like one has no clothes.? My daughter hated most of what I tried on. Anyway at the last minute I threw my Everlane wide leg chinos and the boxy white button down in and accessorized with CAPTOE espadrilles, bed and stone earrings, Liberty bandana and a big black Audrey Hepburn hat. It was casual but polished and I felt good.

    1. @Suz, that outfit sounds perfect. Wide leg cropped pants are warmer than shorts and cooler than most pants.

    2. They are perfect in between pants and on these the fabric is light enough cotton to not make you feel weighted down if that makes sense. I don’t need other colors but they have a straighter leg option I’m considering.

  2. Nice to see everyone. =) For the first time in awhile, YES. Not only did I visit I bought several things!

Pointed-toe slides in glitter :: I found these so fun to wear, I love the sparkle! Found them TTS. I plan on wearing them both to work (with dark denim jeans, a cami + a blazer) and on the weekend, with...
Brooklyn pullover sweatshirt :: ...the Brooklyn sweatshirt, which I've wanted for a few seasons and finally pulled the trigger on. Runs more fitted; I bought my usual medium but it you want a looser look you may want to size up. I feel as a Brooklyn resident it's appropriate. :) I'll wear the slides, the sweater and a lighter wash of jeans to brunch. I'll probably throw on a big sparkly necklace too because why not?
The new straight-leg cargo pant :: For anyone who is curvy or hourglass, these pants are fantastic! Very flattering fit, look great from all angles. Run big, I sized down to a 29 from my usual 30. I saw this on a mannequin with a crewneck cashmere sweater, but for me I found the Long-sleeve everyday cashmere fitted V-neck sweater in ivory made a more flattering pairing. (I have a 34DD chest, so v-necks flatter me more.) I took several mannequin photos; I'll send them to Rynetta to see if she'd like to share them!!
Cluster drop stone necklace :: I do love J. Crew's costume jewelry! I bought this in the frosted citrus and will wear it with the cargo pants and a white cashmere tank for work, with heels. I may also pair it with sweatshirts for an elevated weekend look.
Women's 2011 Icon trench So nice to see this jacket back! Looks like it's been in-store for awhile but I hadn't been in the market for a trench so I hadn't noticed it. Has the same great feel of their classic trenches, fits a little large but I got my usual outerwear size 10 so I can layer stuff under it in colder weather.

It was fun shopping at J.Crew again! I also tried on a blazer I liked, but I don't see it online.

    1. I bought the 2011 icon trench in black. Agree the body runs large, but the shoulders do not, so I went with my 'usual' 6 in a coat. The belt helps with the extra volume. It is a nice sturdy coat. Did you buy camel or black?

    2. I purchased the camel -- the black is nearly sold out now! I do loooove the black too.

  3. Hello everyone! I haven't purchased from J.Crew in quite awhile, mainly due to the hassle of returning via mail since the closest J.Crew to me is in Canada. I love reading about everyone's favorite purchases though, and I appreciate all the reviews, as well. Since summers are short in Montana, I'm much more likely to buy in the fall or winter, so I'm hoping for at least one or two really fabulous items to be offered this year. I don't like their florals or spring colors for fall, so my fingers are crossed that they have something different in the next roll out.

For those interested, I've shared some of my 'go-to' items for fall, several are from J.Crew which I have had for many, many years, and continue to reach for on a regular, if not daily basis. Monday Musings...Playing Favorites.

  4. I finally got to visit a store, it’s been so long. I was like a kid in a candy store! I ended up buying the mockneck embroidered shirt in white in my usual size and it was a bit flowy on me in the body I probably should’ve tried a size down but they didn’t have it. Bought the Nantucket sweatshirt which runs bigger than my Brooklyn and NY sweatshirts. Toronto was colder than expected so the sweatshirt was a sale buy that I could throw on if cold. It was $26 Cdn so I couldn’t pass it up. Picked up a sale zip pouch and the Royal Block maxi on a great sale - I’ll have to take it to a tailor as the top doesn’t fit me right, I tried it before summer and loved it except the top. On a good sale I’m willing to go to a tailor. I also ordered the Ratti maxi in Paisley scarf print to try. I’m hoping it fits, stores in Canada don’t have it.
FYI, for Cdn Jcas the store prices are better than online prices. The mockneck top was $106 vs $116 online and it was 40% off in store. Yorkdale had 50% off sale items yesterday.

    2. Hi SuzHas, it was selling really well in store. The white is pretty airy. I didn’t find it tight in the arm cuffs at all but some reviews did so I guess it depends on the arms.

    3. Glad you found some things. I also have my eye on that top.

    4. Jan, did you get the long sleeve or short sleeve? I think I’ve read the short sleeve arms can be tight. The long sleeve is sold out online.

    5. I bought the short sleeve one. I didn’t find the arms tight at all on me. Ina reviewed the white one on IG, I’m usually the same size as her. I bought my usual xs and it’s a bit loose. I have to tuck the front or it looks to wide untucked on me.

I love the long sleeve one but it’s been sold out for a while on line so I never got to try it.

  5. Ina has some reviews up on her instgram.

  6. One of my orders arrived today - few sale items, the l/s shift dress in crepe and the easy pants as well as the new square neck tee in white. The dress and pants are both a win - I got a 10 in both the dress and the pants...I have the factory version of the pants in an 8 and they're a little snug these days so for the price picked up another pair. The dress is a great basic - the shift dress is often tricky for me since I'm a smaller size on top than bottom but the shape of this works - I don't love the tulip hem but it's not a dealbreaker. It hits about an inch above the knee and I'll wear it throughout the fall and winter.

The tee is cute too - I wish it had a smaller seam on the neck but again not a dealbreaker. I went with a medium but since it's a stretchy tee I want it to fit a little more like a bodysuit so I will probably exchange it for a small. If it were all cotton I'd be fine the a medium but with the stretch the fit is off in the medium.

I am hoping to stop in this coming weekend since my SA is working, it's been a while since I've done some try-ons.
