This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Checked the 50 off “SELECT” sale items and the Chambray wide leg crops have a full size run at 14.99. I was tempted until I admitted I didn’t like the fit when I tried them at full price, so why would I like them at 15?
ReplyDeleteThey’re a great price on a comfy pant, I’m sure many ppl will like them.
Good for you @SuzHas! I’ve fallen victim to sales goggles many times and those small amounts add up.
DeleteIt's a "fact" that things get cuter the cheaper they are!
DeleteHave been there many times. Think about your favorite item in your closet, if a new item doesn't feel like that (no matter the price) it's not worth it
Hello JCAs! Since school is back in session in many places across the country, I am ringing in the new school year with some beautiful images from the J.Crew August 2007 catalog on my blog today. CLICK HERE.
ReplyDeleteI love that catalog! We didn’t know how good we had it back then. I regret selling some of my older items.
DeleteThanks so much for posting! I was just looking at a pair of the patterned ballet flats on Poshmark a few days ago, and I’d buy the York driving mocs in a heartbeat today!
DeleteI still have my York driving Mocs even though they don’t fit me well I can’t bare to give them up. They’re just a touch tight but they still look great
DeleteI had a pair of Positano mocs in silver and another pair in a gorgeous patent caramel colour that I’ve never seen again, and like yours, both a bit too small. I thought they’d stretch out, but finally accepted that they wouldn’t. After holding onto them for years I finally listed them when Poshmark came to Canada earlier this year. One pair sold, the other is still there.
DeleteHi Melissa! Thanks for posting. For eleven years, J.Crew has had access to this free focus group, and yet they never seem to understand why so many of us lovingly reminisce about Paris 2007 and Prague 2008. The Bellas, the Lexingtons, the silk peacock prints! Maybe I am just getting old, but to me it manages to look fresh and classic and the same time. And it is not polyester.
DeleteI looked at the dutch floral top this morning and thought the print was so pretty. Saw the word poly and the price and said no thank you. Not paying $90 for a polyester top. If this was silk, I would definitely purchase.
Delete@shopalot I was interested until I saw poly too. Plus it’s $130 Cdn which is ridiculous for poly.
Deleteshopgrrrl - You're welcome! I would buy a pair of the York driving mocs in a heartbeat, too, and I'd be happy with any of those gorgeous colors they came in. Not sure what size shoe you wear, but there are a pair of the calf hair yorks on Poshmark for $35.
DeleteHi Hexicon! I completely agree with you! The styles, fabrics, colors from J.Crew of yesteryear were classic and timeless. Plus the quality was there, and the prices were very reasonable, too! It's so sad that J.Crew had to chase fast-fashion and try to be like so many other retailers with their designs, and icky fabrics. There aren't many designers/retailers left that seem to want to make classic, quality pieces that will last for years to come (at least not in my budget-range). They just want to make all throw-away goods, so that their customers have to buy again sooner rather than later. Not that I haven't done more than my fair share of buying over the years, but it can become more of a vicious cycle when the goal of retailers is to have you constantly looking for or needing the next best thing, instead of cherishing the much beloved, high-quality piece that you reach for time and again. As the saying goes, hindsight is 20/20, and I for sure would have held on to many more of my J.Crew Archive items if I had known the way things were going to turn out.
DeleteAwe. Good stuff. I love that stripe boatneck sweater. I invested in many double cloth lady day coats from that era and still love them!
DeleteHappy Sunday everyone! With all the talk of J.Crew of yesteryear, quality, and much loved items, I thought I would mention that I've shared a post on Planning Your Fall Purchases on my blog today. Many of you may remember the first time I shared it back in 2012...this one is updated with a few IRL photos of previous fall looks, and fave purchases. CLICK HERE for the post. :)
DeleteI see the point sur cropped wide leg white denim is now $30 on sale. These fit a bit larger than the same size in the blue denim, but not enough to size down. I took my 'larger' size 4 Tall. They are not see through.
ReplyDeleteI’m finally going to get to go to a store as we’ll be in Toronto this weekend. I haven’t placed an order for a month or so which is long for me so I’m hoping to try some items and hoping for an in store promo this weekend!
ReplyDeleteI heard that Yorkdale now carries men’s so I’m wondering if women’s lost floor space or if they somehow expanded.
Looks like the 40% in-store only sale will be in effect including Canada:

@pbanos thank you so much for posting this! Yay, I hope so.
DeleteI'll be heading in for returns today after work, to return the items I had to rebuy due to the new promo, and also I have finally talked myself into returning my unicorn lady jacket, the lady jacket with ties that I snapped as a popback. I had gotten it in my size but I now have to admit that I need one size up, because it just fits if I wear sleeveless under and still restricts arm movement somewhat. If I want to use my arms fully I need to go up a size. So back it goes before the return window flies away.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is the things I want will not be included in the 40% but I might give it a whirl. Need to go to the Apple store anyway.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend everyone!
I said I wasn't going to buy anything, but I made a rare trip to the mall uptown, and as I was walking past (past, mind you!) the store, the pants in the botanical cheetah print caught my eye. They look better in person. I sized up to the larger of my JC sizes because they silk is thin and won't take any tugging, but the fit is generous without being baggy. Unlike some of the other recent "full-length" offerings these are indeed full-length, and I will need to get them hemmed. It's a cliche to say this in a review, but you can dress them up or down: sandals and a tee, or heels and a jacket. Print is gorgeous: leopard print is so ubiquitous now that I'm glad to move on to actual leopards. And note to Copywriter from Space: the feline depicted is a leopard, not a cheetah.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited now! I have these coming in the mail next week but if I see instore, I might buy with the better in-store promo and return the ordered one. I was concerned about the full-length description - I'm 5'1 and I debated over whether I should have ordered the petite. I'm afraid full length will be long on me.
DeleteThe pants came today. I was correct; the full length is too long on me. I definitely need petite length and probably go up a size - the waist is a little high (high rise) and I want it to be more loose fitting especially with the silk being thin and clingy. The colors and print are beautiful.
DeleteJust got an email re: 50% off flash sale on select full price items until 5pm EST. Haven't looked to see what's included yet...
ReplyDeletehow about including ALL of the summer sale in the 50?!
Well I missed the flash sale by 30 seconds. I wanted to get the Ella duster sweater blazer for fall. Oh well, hopefully I’ll catch a good price sooner or later.
ReplyDeleteI also received the newest iteration of the pleated skirt and I could not get it fast enough off my body. It’s awful!! The shine draws attention to every lump and bump, the fabric shows every wrinkle, and its staticky in the middle of summer. Doesn’t bode well for winter wear. Yuck! Wellfedfred posted a photo of a wool pleated skirt of yesteryear that is stunning. I’d buy in 20 colors. Come on crew - you can do it! Go back to the archives and bring stuff back and watch your sales skyrocket!
Oh no, my skirt is out for delivery. Sorry to hear the bad report. I, too, keep saying I’d love a wool one! I’m very hesitant to order an old one on eBay/Poshmark due to sizing...
DeleteLiz, I agree!! I know innovation is important but at the same time J. Crew is a classic brand, and they could increase sales a lot just by essentially bringing back old stuff. This week's rollout is decent, but still not like it was 5 years ago.
ReplyDeleteJust in case anyone missed it, the 50% off flash sale is now through midnight. It took me 3 minutes to scroll through and find absolutely nothing that I had to have. Good luck to anyone on the hunt. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I haven’t bought anything in over a month and returned most of what I bought for months before that.
DeleteSummer has flown by and unfortunately I went from travel softball season to dealing with parents in the hospital...and we haven’t had as carefree an August (yet again) that we would have liked. (Thank goodness things are getting back to “normal.”)
ReplyDeleteThis is all I’ve bought for the past two months, and I’ve gotten rid of a lot. I’ve been pretty vocal about not needing much these days. I can’t even compare the last two summers because I had stuff going on both of those years that made me shop less. No matter what I’m pretty pleased with all the pieces below and what hasn’t gotten worn yet is not due to anything other than what’s been going on...most of it’s been worn. Also I did buy a few pieces off season that I’ve worn,
How does your summer haul compare.
Espadrille shoes in canvas with toe cap
Point Sur scalloped-trim top
Bead-and-stone earrings
Bristol convertible fanny pack in pebbled leather
Cross-strap flat sandals in leather
Paper bag short
Sleeveless mockneck smocked top in crinkle chiffon
Pull-on easy pant in matte crepe
I just placed my first order since April! Not that I haven’t spent a lot of time looking since then, but my local store closed at Christmas, and the higher shipping costs and exorbitant return costs for Canada have been a real deterrent for me. I few items I considered in May/June underwent significant price hikes so that took away any interest in buying. I only ordered this week as I’ll be in the US. I’m looking forward to receiving:
DeleteDenim Pencil Skirt
Scribble bikini high waisted bottom and Ring top
I def see those things as deterrents. You have a lot of patience to stick with the brand! I’m fortunate that I have a store fifteen minutes away and sometimes it’s still difficult to get there.
DeleteMy summer purchases:
Deletedrapey tie-neck sleeveless top in leopard print
Pull-on easy pant in matte crepe
Sleeveless embroidered shirtdress in cotton poplin
Ruffle hi-low silk dress in tropical floral
New York sweatshirt
Pointed-toe woven flats with ankle strap
tiered maxi dress in shirting stripes
Long-sleeve rash guard in SZ
Block prints
Plunge V-neck one-piece swimsuit
Extra-wide brim packable hat
I planned to shop only for my husband, and I did upgrade his wardrobe with:
DeleteLinen/wool ludlow suit and a Wool ludlow suit plus at least eight pants and as many shirts, and a bunch of silk/pima sweaters and just last week the smart looking pima short sleeve polo cardigan. He looks great!
I was doing good for a while, but the $24.50 + 50% + 10% off prime day items got me:
Liberty trumpet skirt
Olive cotton poplin romper
Denim pencil skirt
Polka dot cropped roll neck sweater
Tie waist button up tank sweater
Shorts pajamas (as a gift)
I also purchased the collection hand beaded skirt, which was a big indulgence.
Then the 60% + 15% off sale got me again:
Crystal floral stud earrings
Wrap dress striped poplin
Bright canary denim jacket
Gola liberty high tops
Point sur wide leg white crop jeans
And finally, the magic hour struck with 30% when some things were on 50% sale:
Cap toe red patent boots
Black icon trench
Point sur wide leg tailored indigo jumpsuit
Then I received a $50 gift card and the new item preview sale:
Long Sleeve knit midi dress
Frankie pants in black
Bad girl!
I wore the yellow denim jacket yesterday with the sapphire blue driving mocs and a sapphire blue tshirt and white denim skirt for casual Friday. So many women were enthusiastic about that outfit - thanks J Crew.
Most everything worked out, my only returns were the denim tie neck shell, and some things for my husband.
P, I was waiting to see your list!! You got a lot of amazing deals!
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI went and added it up, so all those items worked out to about $415 after the gift card and some rewards dollars. But then I did go and get the collection beaded skirt that cost over $250...still everything was about the price of a pair of Louboutin heels. Since we didn't get a summer trip this year, I'm still not over-budget!
DeleteI've worn most everything that I've received, except the sweater as it's been to warm, and the denim jumpsuit as it just arrived.
I wasn't sure about the jumpsuit, but my husband likes it, so I guess that makes it a keeper. I tried it on with a tissue turtleneck underneath and that worked. So layering will take it right through the Fall.
@SuzHas, I’m sorry to hear about your parents, I know from experience that’s hard. I hope you’re doing ok.
DeleteMy summer purchases that were kept:
Eyelet mockneck peplum top (with navy collar)
Ratti aviary dress
Pleated midi skirt in warm sun (even though it’s poly I loved it and made an exception)
Eyelet wrap midi dress in white
Montauk tee
Runaway mermaid tee
Embroidered shirt dress
Apparently I bought a lot of white probably wasn’t the best idea with young kids lol
I've been working to organize/purge and definitely gotten rid of more than I've purchased this summer but I've still got a ways to go to get my closet under control.
DeleteAll I've bought this summer is 5 perfect fit t-shirts, which I obviously find pretty perfect. Black and navy were replacements and I also got pink, red, and a cerise stripe. I also got the Field Jacket in Ecru for $35 on poshmark.
Here's what I purchased (not including returns, of which there were many!)
ReplyDeletePolka dot tie neck blouse (ivory/black)
4 season stretch pencil skirt
10" high rise white jeans with frayed hem
Navy paperbag shorts
Bright cerise leather ankle strap sandals
Point sur pant in seaside twill (army green color)
black/white polka dot jumpsuit
Liberty tana lawn shorts
365 stretch tank top body suit (black)
Tanti Baci tee (tags still on)
With the exception of the items with the tags on...I think I did pretty well. Everything listed I wore pretty regularly. I tried to be more diligent this summer about returning items that I didn't love or weren't perfect.
No flash sale purchases yesterday - if the black/white sling back loafers had been included I may have caved but nothing for now.
chambray tie front sleeveless top (tags are still on)
haha formatting got messed up...chambray top should be up with the list of items!
DeleteI tried to return anything questionable too. The crepe easy pants were going to be worn to a wedding but it just looked so plain and dark for summer so I found an old, old dress my husband loves. Were it less than 30 days i would return but for just about $20 they’re a versatile pant to keep on hand.
Deletemine were only the purchases i kept. returns would have been a huge list. i’m not complaining though - i’ve worn everything except the swim which will be going with me on vacation in two weeks. and all for prices that i thought fair. i didn’t buy from any non JC retailers the whole summer.
Delete@eeps, I've been J Crew only as well. And for my husband too, except for two pair of shoes (he takes a wide width, and J Crew doesn't do wide shoes)
DeleteJust left my store (returned the pleated skirt). Whole store is 40% off. Picked up the rollneck sweater and Ella blazer.
ReplyDeleteI was tempted by the pleated skirts, but I was afraid it would be an awkward fit with the pleats and clingy fabric. The rollneck sweaters are nice.
DeleteI liked the pleated skirt a lot! I didn’t find it clingy at all? Just not sure if I need navy. What I NEED is black. Skirt fits perfectly and I really like how the pleats were done.
DeleteI received two new release items, and both are going back. The long sleeve knit midi dress is way too clingy. It hugs my large rear in a very bad way. The color is nice.
ReplyDeleteThe Frankie pants are also a fail on me. I ordered the same size as in the Officer pants, 2T. They run a full size smaller, though the shape is the same. Plus the fabric is much thinner than the Officer pants, and seems cheaper. I'm not going to try the 4T, though that would probably fit.
Sorry neither one worked for you. Great prices to try them though! I’m also returning the sweater dresses. The length doesn’t work on me with tall boots, and that’s really all I’d wear them with. Too tight at the mid calf hem. Oh well, money saved!
DeleteToo bad about the Frankie pants! Thanks for the report.
DeleteReceived regent blazer in 4 season stretch from the witching hour sale..($70)...Like the fabric, I think I may try petite, I find it long on me... not sure I will keep either... with all the talk about the Bella jacket from 2007...I am ripped. What you guys think?
ReplyDeleteHello friends. I finally figured out a way to get back on here via the google app! My keepers from Summer 2019. Several Liberty pieces: Kayoko print floral bow tie shorts and button up shirt, sleeveless Pavilion black top & skirt, Paloma sleeveless top and matching beach pant. Josephine popover. Indigo floral wide leg crops, Jackie cardigan in flame. (Still stalking the matching shell!) I also love the Point Sur indigo stripe pant & top. Universal Standard gingham top with bow sleeves was a surprise love. Ratti aviary pant and matching top. A black linen side button sweater & Ratti bow tie kaleidoscope shorts. Jcrew jewelry: enamel bracelets and matching hoop earrings, Crystal & blossom stone drop earrings, pearl & crystal floral chandelier earrings & the white tassel fan earrings. No shoes except a popback of the Navy gingham lace up sandals.
ReplyDeleteOh and I left out my favorite purchase: the silk jungle print shirt and pant.
