Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No visit. Although I do still have returns to do. Waiting for the last things to be delivered so I can return all in one shot.

    1. me too :) My last two orders have been shipped. This month has been 'crew crazy. I'm going to do a tally of my items ordered/returned. Just curious.

    2. I went to take my returns back and low and behold when I got home there was another box that I thought had been canceled. I was just at the women's store! So I took it back to the men's only store. They were very nice about taking back something they don't sell. It gets a bit exhausting ordering and returning.

  2. The Collection jungle cat silk shirt is FINALLY on sale. $40 after 60% discount. NOT final sale. GO!!

    1. Glad I wasn’t the only person stalking that!

    2. I was so tempted by that beautiful shirt, but alas I can’t wear silk. With my heavy perspiration, it has to be washed after every wear. That’s way too much dry cleaning or hand washing & ironing for me to seriously consider it.

    3. Now THAT is an item that sparks joy for me! I took my regular size (2) which is the smaller of my J Crew button down/blouse size (2/4). Bought it the day it came out.

    4. Oh dear. I guessed and got the larger of my JC blouse size. I always have a problem with JC’s shoulder measurements though. How was it in the shoulders?

      Delete
    5. Better to be a little too big (maybe) than too small! I sometimes need the 4 for shoulders but did not in this case. Please do let us know how you make out when it arrives. Or if it is not final sale, perhaps you can order another size?

    6. So much for my sensible decision to pass on the lovely silk blouse. I went back and ordered both the blouse and pants, lol. I guess I’ll wear it over a long sleeve tee. Under $60 for both pieces and not fs, so I want to give them a try.

    7. @jeanne Numi under tops are a lifesaver for wearing silk shirts. I wear the crop top version. They are frequently sold out so it might take some patient stalking to get one, but you should be used to it through J Crew!

    8. Will have to check out Numi

    9. Thanks for the pro tip, Bobster! I struggle with the same dilemma re: silk shirts as Jeanne. When I'm just in my office it's not an issue, but when I'm teaching... yikes :-)

    10. How are you planning to style your jungle cat shirt? I don't usually wear those colors, so I don't have much to complement the shirt, but I love the print and I have a expiring coupon I need to use, so I think I'm going to order it. My work style is fairly conservative but I need some ideas beyond a black pencil skirt.

    11. I’ve only worn it twice. Once with black skinny jeans and stiletto booties and once to work, with winter white pants and the rose velvet parks blazer. I also plan to wear it with charcoal and lighter gray.

    12. @Bobster - Thanks. I’ll look into them.

  3. I have a last return to my local Chester NJ store as they are closing this weekend. There may be additional returns, but the Mr. will have to drop those off at one of the malls.

I ordered a pair of the tall high heel black boots, hoping they fit my muscular calves...they were not FS. The price actually dropped today to $40. I also have an ivory princess mini in Tall2 on the way. But I see the reviews say it runs small, so we shall see. I would have ordered both sizes, but the Tall4 was FS, though the Tall2 was not. I was hoping the skirt would work with my bright blue Collection Lady Jacket in English Tweed. The jacket looks best with white/off white. I've white pants but no skirt.

    1. I saw the tall boots got reduced. I must have had an extra coupon so I paid just a little more, not sure how a price adjustment would work if I used an extra 25% off code. Still it's an extra $10 so it doesn't hurt to ask. I think mine should be here today.

    2. Depends on the associate. I got a PA done where they re-calculated with 70% off (instead of $50) then applied the extra 25% after. It took some explaining, but I got it done cheerfully. My husband says I work customer service over with friendliness, but really it is not calculated. If you could get that done at todays price you would be at $99*.4*.75 = $29.70.

      Delete
    3. Yes, exactly. Can't hurt to try, I'll wait until I get them to make sure I'm keeping them though. That seems to be the only price reduction.

    4. P Banos, they credited me the price diff for the boots, but they still haven't shipped.

  4. I got the"last" item I was interested in, the drop sleeve crepe turtleneck. Not final sale. Today I get a big delivery. I've returned most of the items due to fit issues* so we shall see. *except for shoes/boots.

  5. I have all my returns in the car ready to go to the mall tonight or tomorrow. Tried on the snake boots today again with skinny jeans cuffed a la Suz, and they really only look "right" underneath pants so I have decided they're extraneous. I can wear instead the black cap toes or the snake mules. Thank you to all who put up with my hemming and hawing.
Also returning the plaid jeweled funnelneck. Just can't love it, even for $14 or whatever it cost.
Now I am debating - do I want flannel pajamas? Final sale makes me nervous but how bad can they be for $18? Loaded question...

    1. It's always good to look at purchases several times. Now I'll have to try my funnelneck again! 😂 You're right though, because even if it's only $14 if it sits unworn, what's the point.

      Delete
    2. You were extremely helpful! I was cuffing my gray skinnies today and my boyfriend asked "Who is Suz?" ;)
I want the buttons and plaid of the shirt, on a different shirt.

      Delete
    3. Lol! I know exactly what you mean. I just tried it again with jeans and with my leather pants. With the leather pants and my new Stewart plaid bow flats it's a cute easy festive look. I did a partial tuck in the front. It also works under my slouchy red, black or ivory sweaters. The closure is a little weird. If I was a non Tucker it would totally be a no brainer, but I tend to tuck...even still I like the plaid enough to make it work. I don't have any other plaid shirts that would work like this so I'll keep it. ,

    4. Those shoes are so cute! Picked up a pair today in store. J Crew is giving away shoes with the prices.

      Delete
    5. I saw that! I paid more than double but I still think it's an ok price. I like the pointy toe with the little heel over the flat flat like the Gemma. Just that half inch or whatever makes the shoe much more flattering to the leg line.

    2. I had that happen TWICE last year! I do suspect people steal the buttoms and return the tops for a refund.

    3. That's terrible! I just ordered the dot flannel pj set and sincerely hope I get both pieces. Just the top is absolutely useless to me (unless it is Liberty, of course)!!

    4. This happened to me this week as well! The pajamas were for my daughter. Just received the top. So annoying because I ordered them two weeks ago and they were for her birthday which was Wednesday. They showed up online this morning so I ordered them again. Maybe this time I’ll receive the bottoms.

  7. @shopalot, Hope you sized down they run a little in the larger side.I am a 34 DD but thin thin everywhere else and went down a size. Probably could have gone down even a size smaller than what I ordered. If it’s a little large I will wear a cami or a tee under it and leave it open.

  8. Sundance catalog is running 15% off promo this weekend. It sounds like a joke in comparison with JCrew's non-stop sell off. I made a purchase since it seldom gets better then that.

  9. @shopalot, I found it ran larger in the shoulders too which suprised me (I rowed crew while at university) although I’m not wide shouldered, a rather odd fit. I hope it works for you, and everyone else that got a good deal; such a pretty blouse.

  10. Just made a huge pile of returns to Brookfield and saw some of the new arrivals. I really like the thick cotton twill of the officer pants but man they felt stiff. I didn’t try on since I was a rush. The striped lady cardigan with tie also comes in pink, which I actually prefer (I’m usually a green girl). The new Liberty print is nice - a larger print in navy, but I didn’t see the shirt dress which I definitely am interested in. The Liberty print quilted field jacket is very cute but looks short. It wouldn’t cover my butt and I’m petite sized. Still going on my wishlist though, it’s well made.

I made my returns and was astonished at some of the prices things rang up as. I always lose track of price adjustments and I’m pretty sure some PAs haven’t been processed by my credit card but they’re reflected at the register. I returned the lemon trumpet skirt and it came up as $13.xx?!? I don’t even know how that happened. I wouldn’t keep it for the price anyway but wow. My AB shirtdress (finally shipped but did not love the slippy poly feel or disproportionate chest/waist measurements) ran up as $27.xx. Honestly I have no idea how much I’m spending at JC anymore. I wish the prices in the order history was updated in real time.

    4. I saw the perfect shirt in the navy garden print, and the quilted field jacket in the white garden. I thought the white garden looked blue to me. It's such a pretty print, looks much better in person than in model/product photos. I saw the bandanna in the pavilion black print - it looked very 60s to me.

    5. Can't wait to see all of this in person. Unfortunately it is polar vortex time here in the Chicago area. It will be a while before I can make the long trek to my "work" store. Local store closed a few years ago and I still miss it. Sad trombone!

  12. So much for my January low buy plan. I need to stop browsing the website so I’m not tempted by popbacks. I’ve placed several orders “just to try” items, but I know I’ll probably end up keeping most of it. RIP lower credit card bills. 😩

On a positive note, I received the Parke blazer in lavender herringbone this morning and it’s so pretty! The little flecks of color really make the fabric really special and perfect for spring. I’m also very happy with the Dover blazer in houndstooth wool popback that I bought for a song. The velvet collar is a nice touch.

    1. I’m also really liking the vintage straight jeans in worn in black wash and in faded midnight wash with raw hems. They’re flatteringly slim but loose and stretchy enough to be as comfy as pjs. Definitely worth the super low price I paid.

    2. Has anyone seen the Collection Blythe silk shirt in flora multi? It looks so pretty but it is still pretty expensive.

    3. Oh I was *so* close to trying the lavender wool blazer, esp as they had it in tall sizes. What a pretty color, I'm glad you liked it.
Yes, my January low-buy plan was a flop, too many good deals. I think it will be much easier in Feb/March.

  13. @shopalot, no I haven’t been able to see the blouse, I’m in Europe right now and I too was wondering why it was so pricey. If anyone has seen or purchased would appreciate if you would post. I was almost wondering if it might a spin off Ratti?

    1. I noticed the very, very expensive Ratti dresses are now in the sale section. They look gorgeous but I have no place to wear. I miss the catalogs so much; before today, I don't think I ever even saw the dresses.

      Delete
    2. @shopalot, they are gorgeous. Sigh, dream of a life where dresses like that, and sequin skirts, had a meaningful place. Now wake up and pull on your boyfriend jeans.

    3. When I was a sample size, I used to buy dresses similar to those at Tracey Reese sample sales for something like 90% off retail. I wore them to work at a new job. Didn’t care I looked like I was going to cocktail parties all the time. Colleagues would come around to my office to check out my dress of the day. A guy in the art department (who appreciates the finer things in life) said he noticed that for my first 60 days on the job, I never repeated an outfit. I had members of the executive team approach me before board meetings to tell me how nice I always looked.

The point is... life is short. If you want to wear a gorgeous dress, wear it anywhere. Someone somewhere will appreciate it.

  14. Well I got most of my stuff, not the tall boots as they haven't shipped yet, neither have the red boots. Nordic boots arrive tomorrow.

On a positive note, the single breasted plaid coat in Cabernet is perfect. The colors are a little unusual for me but the overall look is so sharp. Size 4 is comfortable over a thick sweater. I wonder why they chose a navy and red trimmed lining when the coat is cabernet, black, mauve and a reddish orange but whatever...

Also positive, the red plaid wide leg pants in a 0 fit PERFECTLY. The length is ideal for low heels. The fabric is thin but the fit and drape more than makes up for it.

Jeans: Billie in mountain lake wash, loved them in store, not crazy about them at home. Same with the step hem slim boyfriend Jean in deep lake. Love the wash but wish I sized up for more of a boyfriend look. Also got the demo boot crop with shadow star patches on the knees. Super cute but I don't know, I feel Ike I'm trying too hard or something. I tried them on with a black sweater and tweed heels and they're cute. Need to sleep on those.

Relaxed chambray boy shirt, came with security tag. It's ok for layering.

Collared popover in indigo gauze, this reminds me of Madewell courier shirts. It's like a denim blue but super light so a keeper for summer.

Sadie ankle boots in pale gold. I love the redwood but not sure about these. After extra coupon they were THIRTY dollars. They look great with the coat above and my leather pants and black sweater but I have to try with a few other things.

Hoping they take the jeans back. They varied between final sale and not final sale...(not the star ones, the others.)

Also, got the glen plaid cape scarf. Pattern is same scale as the coat which is fun. Def a winter scarf but I like it and def think it will see lots of use.

    2. Thank you for the reviews, as always. Happy you are happy with the pants.

As for the jeans, just put them all together when you do the return and do not even say anything about them being final sale. Chances are extremely large that the cashier will not even mention they were final sale, especially if there is a line.

      Delete
    3. I need opinions on the. Gold boots!!! Not sure. Gonna post a pic.

      Delete
    4. The boots are good, but the redwood are so much...richer. How much will you really wear the gold? Crap, now I'm thinking about the snakeskin again.

      Delete
    5. The jeans are not silly, but they would look better 2" longer. Or even better full length. The stars are a good idea for a diy!

And gold boots? Who wouldn't love gold boots? The style is simple, so no fear about getting tired of that. Try to forget the price and concentrate on the boots. When would you wear them that you don't have a better option to reach for? Do you want to watch your own feet when they are on? Are they super-comfortable to walk all day, or just tolerable to look good?

      Delete
    6. @Cheritheberry, how did the snake mules fit compared to your 'usual' shoe? I got my usual 10 (sometimes I am 9 1/2 ) but I know that open back shoes can run distressingly small.
I think the mules offer some of the same look as boots because of the high vamp. Not a winter shoe, but good spring to fall.

      Delete
    7. @p, ha! I told her the same thing about the jeans! And I 100% agree with your boot assessment, smart points.
I am always always always a 7. I have a narrow foot and these are great. I would not say they ran short. Although when I was working at J Crew this fall, a majority of customers DID size down on the many flat mules they were offering. The height is so manageable and comfortable for me.
I didn't consider the vamp of the mule until you mentioned it but WOW! Okay glad they're already in the car to go tomorrow.

You think it's worth stopping into Chester tomorrow? My son has an appointment in Chatham so I'll be over(ish) that way.

    8. So funny...I just tried on my Charles wash jeans in 24 that I've never worn. I usually reach for the looser ones but they seemed too sloppy. Then I decided to try on the jeans I got today, the slim boyfriend, cuffed them to try them with the boots and they happen to look good. I think I just think things need to be looser. So for $15 I think I'll keep these.

Re the gold boots, I have another pair from Madewell from last year but they are a low Chelsea style boot, much more masculine. Agree with Cher that the redwood are much richer, that's the exact thing I thought when I compared the two, but the gold is very comfortable and fun...they might also work under longer pants too and even with skirts. I'll def try a few more bottoms with them,

    9. @Cheritheberry, call Chester and ask about anything you have in mind. Probably not much left, but I think they said they were holding returns until the end. And you are a small size, so might be luckier: 908 879 0393

@Suz Has: Very common to pick clothing that is too big, maybe because we know how bad too small looks on other people.

      Delete
    10. @p banos @Suz Has - I also tend to buy clothing that's a bit oversized. I'm not as young, thin and firm as I once was, sadly, so the bodycon ship has sailed. I also have very wide shoulders and back and I like to have plenty of room to layer. Sometimes I think I overdo it, though. Last night I nearly lost my loose fitting boyfriend jeans in Target. They kept sliding down, down, down.

    11. I really love crop flares (I have one pair of Billies and two from Gap) and star prints but I don’t love the knee placement of these stars. The jeans themselves look great.

    13. Thanks everyone. I returned the mountain wash Billie's, as I was folding them up I realized they had no tags so I wanted to make sure I brought them back right away. Returned the tuxedo stripe (I ordered a second pair when price was reduced since I was placing an order anyway). I'm going to decide on the star knee jeans once I get the bigger size. I think they're really cool and I feel I paid a fair price but I'm not sure.
I decided to keep the step hem boyfriends and the gold boots. I actually wore my smaller Charles wash, my new plaid coat with the gold boots tonight (just running errands nothing crazy) and I think the boots are just a matter of getting used to the color. I like loud shoes so it should be fine.
Thanks everyone for all the help!!!

    14. I’m glad you kept the boots! While not exactly a wardrobe staple, for $30 they’re going to be fun to wear and I’m sure you’ll get your money’s worth. Special pieces at the right price are always a good purchase for me.

  20. Ordered two popbacks this morning because I woke up way too early. Two are back up items I'll use. Also bought the guipure lace dress in green after noticing the unusual blue under it. I don't think I was at all awake because I wouldn't have bought that normally. Yikes. I may love it, but still.

Received thenavy corduroy blazer and petite easy pant in lace. Wish I had reversed that and got the petite blazer, regular pant. Easy Pant was loose around the belly and tighter on the leg. Just a bit too skimpy in length. The petite jungle cat easy pant worked for me, though. Blazer has a vintage look and handfeel. Not very smooth or soft corduroy, but it's okay. Crewcuts corduroy pants feel amazing, so I'm comparing to that. Overall, really love the look, but want to try on at least a few sizes. So impossible. I know it's an oversized fit, but it's a little off. Worth trying petite, probably. It's not so fancy I would be afraid to wear it all the time.

  21. This is OT but I know there are some popback shoppers here, so wanted to share my find last night. I like to play a game when I'm surfing popbacks called "What's the oldest popback here." It helps me fall asleep when I have insomnia. The oldest I've unearthed was maybe a 2015 popback last year, so 3 years. Last night I think I hit the jackpot. I found a popback of the Effie scarf dress in wild mushroom item #26664. I think it's from 2010. I really have no interest other than it looks very similar to a very old Imitation of Christ silk dress I got at a sample sale in 2007, which I can't fit anymore, so I thought what the hey, let's get this Effie. I have no idea what the sizing will be, and I'll be tickled if it actually ships. (my popback find two weeks ago of the embellished Collection tiered silk dress - in my size!- was cancelled this week)
Does anyone remember the Effie or what catalog it might have been in? I'm assuming it looks fall-ish to maybe September 2010? Or late 2009?

    1. I saw that too! I have no use for the sillhouette and it wasn't my size either but it is always fun to see olllld items. "Gigi" has a review of the dress on her blog from July 2010 so good spot on the timing! That was my guess too but I based it on the flat oxford shoes I remember being the big new trend back then. The oldest popback I've seen recently (ordered about a month ago) was the Jaspe popover from 2012, but it arrived clearly used and all stretched out. =( Hope you have better luck with this "vintage" dress!

    2. I love seeing old popbacks, but seems like I hardly ever see them. I ordered a 3 year old wool trench once that way...amazing price but it was a bit too small. How do you find the old popbacks eeps? Do you just look under "new sale items" at certain times? Is it just random luck?

    3. I was into that flapper silhouette many years ago (along with the silk dress/bias cut thing) but have given away most of those dresses when I gained weight. I do love the look and feel of a simple silk dress, especially during humid summers when I just cannot wear anything with a defined waist. I really can’t even guess what the right size would be in this dress so I assumed it would be a little big which shouldn’t be a problem considering the silhouette. It’ll just be a surprise all around if/when it arrives!

@Julie - really just dumb luck. I used to think right when the site refreshes inventory at midnight Eastern was the magic popback time but I’ve only seen things pop back in the middle of the day or evening. It’s horribly time consuming to go through the entire sale section though - but once you do it enough everything looks familiar and the stuff that doesn’t really pops out (pun intended). I look at everything I have not seen before in the sale section. It can be terribly addictive, especially if you’re the kind that enjoys going through piles of junk at flea markets and estate sales like I do.

  22. @eeps I only remember seeing it secondhand. Found it oddly fascinating. ...I'm so sorry the tiered silk dress was cancelled on you!!! I have it in like 8 sizes too large (to be fair, it's the only item I have so ludicrously unwearable) and one day *I will* have it remade to fit. Every once in a while I put it on, gather it all in the back, and think, I'm in love with this dress... I enjoy owning it even as it is. And one day, I will get the Ratti panel skirt...

    1. I’m not going to judge. Last night I picked up a popback of the bow Camerons. They’re a size 12; I fit a 4. But I really really wanted them. Now have to figure out whether they can be altered to fit....

  23. Stopped into one of our two remaining JCrew locations, hoping to will spring into early arrival just by looking at new things. Not much of the latest rollout instore yet though, and realistically I’ve got at least two months of sweater weather yet. Liked the new white garden Liberty print, really hard to tell if the ground colour is black or navy so I guess it will work with either. The heart-print dress is in a ‘nice’ poly, the kind you have to check the label to see if it might be silk (haha). Bits and pieces otherwise. All the new tees appeared to be Mercantile.
Sale section was still additional 60% off and it was absolutely stuffed - I wonder if all the sale stock from the store that closed at the beginning of the month was sent there. Lots of buttondowns in various stripes and plaids, miscellaneous velvet things, a few parkas, jeans, sweatshirts... too much to list, but definitely a ‘leftovers’ feel. Lucky enough to snag a Harper mini satchel in the leopard calf-hair, I do love small bags and at $60 CAD it was reasonable and very cute. JCrew itch now scratched for the week ;)

    1. Thanks for reporting on the white Liberty print. I would love a tulip skirt and would like to pair it with the button down, too. Right now the cost isn't justifiable for me, but I'm happy to hear it looks good IRL.

  25. The ivory princess mini in 2T arrived. Based on comments, I was afraid I should have ordered a 4, but it is more than roomy enough even with my swollen post-surgery tummy. So not small on my shape. Now I need to decide if it works with the bright blue Lady Jacket in English Tweed. I wish it were a bit less yellow, but I will give a chance in daylight. Plus it would probably be good with the Collection silk twill button-up in jungle cat print that has been on my wish list for months and months. Rats, they should probably both go back, but I will ask the Mr. and my Mom for their opinions.

Also go the liberty shirt in navy flower print, very pretty.... to tired to try....lol
Stripe pajamas pants.... those were like $9 each.... they awesome.... I have 2 more pairs coming Monday.
Also, yesterday got the wireless earbuds by Keafrunk in pink, they were $28..,, they are fantastic and beat the apple price of $173 with tax.... my 2 teens approved... sound is awesome...

  26. I received my last Flash Sale package today:

K1090 Glass bead bracelet: although I think i was sent the wrong colour, I’m still pleased overall with this purchase. The Frosted Citrus was at an unbeatable price at 70% off, but I think the one I received is Smoky Haze as it has subtle blue/grey tones as opposed to green/yellow. I will double-check the item number on the packaging to see if I received the wrong one in the right package, or the wrong one altogether.

K2428 Oversized Patchwork Cable-knit Tunic sweater in Heather Teak. This is one of the very few sweater purchases I allowed myself this season. I needed another tunic length sweater and this kind of earthy colour is right up my alley. I’m glad I sized down to size M as the sleeve and body length is perfect, but the fit isn’t too sloppy (I’m 5’9”). I’m generally size L at J.Crew, but for anything marked oversized I go down to an M. I was shocked that the blend is only 60% Wool (40% Nylon), I assumed the wool content would be much higher. For the 70% off price I’m willing to give it a try and hope it wears well, but I’ll be sure to check on the blend ratios in the future.

  27. French Tweed jacket popped up size 4, looks very pretty not buttons, but too small for me unfortunately. F1590 60% off still a lot higher than what p banos and I purchased the English Lady Tweed for @ 67.00 mine was on eBay however.NWT.

  28. Navy Tipped Wrap coat $85.20 K0708, too bad I used the 25% off code yesterday. Would have been 63.20. Still a good price, but never would have paid full price for this coat though. Wool is so-so, ( I’m more of a cashmere person) not the greatest quality but I really like the navy/white combo which is very classic. I found that I had to size down in this to obtain a better fit and look. Now if Jcrew could only do some decent cashmere again. Sigh

  29. Forgot to mention I tried on the Nordic boots in store. Loved them. They're arriving today from online order. Also tried the evie ballet flats in iced peach. They look and almost feel like ballet shoes. They're supposed to mold to your feet. Store price for both was higher than online. I previously ordered the gold flats so at least I know they fit but the iced peach with black is a nice neutral. They won't be the most durable but cute to slip on and go.

    2. I had ordered the peach ones but returned them (mostly because of the condition they came in... Crushed box, the wrong item box, damaged toe on the shoe) but the color was just a little off for me. I think I would have preferred them more pink. But now I have the gold ones and they're way more gold than I was thinking they'd be. Final sale sooooo.... If you've got suggestions on how to wear them and not make them scream GOLD, I'm game.

      Delete
    3. Do you. Mean the darker tan/caramel Nordic boots? I opted to get the black although I like the tan because of the contrasting fleece or whatever the lining is. I do like the gold/tan with denim. I've seen them a lot on IG.

  31. There's one pair of size 2 Cafe Capris in wool out there this morning, where did those come from?! (not my size, maybe they're still there). These are my absolute favorite J. Crew pants (not in wool, but in the cotton blend).

  32. Ah, there was a size 4 in gray wool Maddies my unicorn that Poshmark failed to deliver!
Picked up the boyfriend chambray in an xs for $16.80.
Took two pairs of jeans out of my drawer to donate, and three tee shirts.

    1. I think I got the boyfriend chambray too I wasn't sure but I think there's a little linen in it and it works now for layering but in warmer weather I think it will look nice with white pants. I tried it with the white jeans and I also have white linen sailor pants that I'm going to force myself to try and wear more this summer.
I tend to spend my weekends at softball tournaments so it's hard to dress. I literally keep a suitcase packed with comfortable black pants and tops so if we are staying over I don't have to think, I just shower and get dressed for dinner.

      Delete
    2. Yep, that’s the one. Since it was boyfriend style I went with XS. I would wear my other chambray one nearly every weekend if I allowed myself so I’m looking forward to something slightly different.
That’s smart! Summer is so short. Most years so don’t get chances to wear everything I want.

      Delete
    3. Absolutely agree. We had one social event this summer that I chose to dress up for, it was just a birthday dinner at a restaurant but I wore the white pants and white linen Rhodes blazer. I forced myself because my usual black pants and top would have been perfect too.

    1. I agree, I get away with dragging my family there because there’s restaurants and it’s a good location. Coconut point Jcrew (assuming it’s not closing) is 20 min or so from waterside shops so hopefully you can at least get to that one.

  35. That’s too bad about the Naples store. Probably lease renewal and not generating enough business. I never cared for the employees in that particular store the few times I was over on that coast. Pretty obnoxious bunch of spoiled brat young women. Wonder if there are any other stores here in S Fl. closing. The one nearest me in Palm Beach Gardens closed a year ago. I miss it terribly. I love the Coral Gables store at Merrick Park and the gorgeous shopping complex it’s in. Everyone is so pleasant there and their inventory is fabulous. Interesting to view customers from abroad snatching up items by the suitcase full! They used to have a purchase limit there when there was the Good Old Cashmere. I wonder now if anyone buys it:)

  38. OMG got mY Nordic boots in black. With workout socks they're a perfectly comfortable fit in the 9 (and I could even go sockless) so I'd say they run TTS to slightly small. As Anne @fablifeforever mentioned, the sides can be unfolded so they hit higher up. They're certainly not the most feminine shoes but so warm I want to go for a walk in the reservation to test them out. Even with a size 9 my feet don't look huge. I see they are currently sold out but if cold tootsies are an issue for you I recommend.
Previously someone suggested buying LLBean instead. I have a pair of bean boots and they're great but have limitations as well. You can buy a lining separately and within the first few wears the pull tab ripped on mine. I could pay to ship them back and have them send me a new pair but it would probably cost less to just have a shoemaker fix it. Also LLbean only guarantees items for a year now. (I reached out to find out about repair and it still would have cost me.) anyway, I think these seem like a nice quality rugged, cold weather boot.

    1. Glad you like them! I bet the linings will compress a bit as you wear them.

  39. My snakeskin mules arrived today. I ordered my 'usual' 10, and then was afraid they would be too small, since it seems like backless shoes often run a full size small. And they are final sale...good news is they fit. Not generous, but fine. Keepers (not that I had a choice). There is a small amount of 'try on' wear on the soles, but for $26 I can overlook.

They should get lots of wear with my wardrobe that includes a lot of black and white. I have dresses, pants, skirts, jeans and even a pair of 'dressy' black bermuda shorts that will all work with these mules.

Of course they go well with the ivory princess mini that I've been trying to convince myself to return. So one more reason to keep the skirt. I think the mules/ivory skirt/black blythe would make a nice outfit. I put half a dozen tops/shoes with that skirt in a few minutes, and they all work. If only it was whiter! But still a nice skirt, similar in quality to the double serge pencil skirt, which I have in the same size 2T.

    1. Oh good to hear. I love an ivory skirt with black sweater and tall boots too...maybe the heeled boots would work.

    3. The black/ivory/red Reeds mockneck sweater looks perfect with the ivory princess mini skirt. I can see that being my outfit for Valentines coming up, if my tummy swelling is under control by then. Crossing fingers for the boots!

    4. Oh! If the mockneck works that would look great! It's ok to mix whites/off whites. I even tried that mockneck with my white jeans and although the whites are different it worked. Fingers crossed! And hope you're feeling well.

  43. Randomly stopped at Goodwill today after a long hiatus. So many old J.Crew items. I was so tempted, but none were perfect. I'm a size larger than I have been, but didn't want to buy for the future. A 2004 pink cotton-silk Jacquard box-pleat skirt. Sooooo pretty! Wow. Couldn't find this item online. A navy cotton stretch skirt from the same era- the perfect skirt, with cute false button pockets in front, alas too small. Wah. A gorgeous green/purple Tweed from 2010 (yeah, I checked all the labels) with gdeep green panel piping all around. It fit but was shorter than I'm comfortable with. I resisted. It did look nice with the chunky green wool turtleneck I had on. Factory Liberty style blazer. Decent fit. Nearly bought, but what I really want is the Liberty Daisy and poppy blazer, so I saved $10. In the past I might have bought them all anyway, so I'm growing :) Def want to find that pink one in my size now, though. And why can't all the tweeds be so yummy?!

Anyway, her second most recent post features several Jcrew items, striped tees, of course, camo pants, etc. She shoes chewed up wide leg jeans with a red and white striped tee and red glitter heels. (With a pale mint coat from her collection). I'm going to recreate this with my red Sophia patent pumps, the point Sur wide leg jeans I Let out the hem on (they're so much better like this) and one of my coats (not mint green and not as long but so what).

    1. IF These jeans are still available I highly recommend if you want to try the wide leg jean style at a low price. I got the tall in my usual size and like the extra length since they now graze the ankle. I tried the Rayner jeans a few years ago but ended up selling both pairs (I've tried and sold many jeans!). Somehow the fit on these is better, the rise isn't quite as high and the rear pockets are more flattering.
