  1. If you have time to kill, there are some funny bits in this reddit thread about yesterday's crazy deals for men on J. Crew

      LOL!

    2. Too funny, I don't even know what Reddit is really. But obviously they were into the sale.

    3. I didn't realize there were groups of men that are so into shopping. These are my people! The comments are so, so funny.

  2. Another large sale update early this morning! I also noticed a lot of price reductions in the sale section. Just FYI.....

  3. Posted some reviews yesterday, including my Everlane choose what you pay purchases, but really needed to come back and mention how much I actually love the Sadie boots in suede. I find it can be tricky to pair booties like this with jeans (sometimes the shaft height or width doesn't work with the length or width of the jeans) but I was able to try and like these with skinny sight leg, boyfriend cuffed/rolled and wide leg jeans. Sizing: reviews said they ran small so I went with my larger shoe size, I probably could have gone either way.

Today I found a lot to love and ordered a bunch of items that somehow aren't final sale. Velour hoodie and joggers, black polartec half zip, leopard monk strap shoes, demylee rollneck sweater in black, wide leg tux stripe pants, Stewart plaid puffer, denim fanny pack (my daughter had the same and used it on vacation, it was adorable for that purpose) and a few other random popbacks,

    1. I'm assuming I will not love the fit of the demylee rollneck but I ordered a size down from my usual and hope it might work with some higher rise pants that call for a waist length sweater.

    2. That is so true with boots. Always seems to be my problem, at least. Good to hear they are going to be versatile for you. I actually didn't look this morning but your post is sending me there now!

    3. I am definitely getting the scarf and wondering who I could possibly gift it to? (that does not live near me) lol

    4. I figured for the sale price it's a fun piece to use around the holidays to feel festive. Looks like there's a loop to slip the end through so no knot needed.
Also I decided not to get the heeled mules. Since I have the boots in the snakeskin and several black block heels pumps and now the boots...I have too much I don't use. Obviously not doing well with curbing myself either.

      Delete
    5. I only bought the mules because I couldn't get the boots. Honestly you are better off!

I swear I did not see a loop IRL , although I saw what you're talking about on the website. Maybe I tried on a defective one? I had the fannypack in my cart but bought just the scarf. Today. So far.
I love their capes and wear them to the office and also casually, and it's taking everything in me to not order the houndstooth and signature for $20 a piece...but I already have 4...

    6. Me too! I actually always bring one traveling, great for the plane and a wrap at night when a jacket is too structured.

    7. Suz, what if they close their doors and the current four in my possession have to last for life?!?

    8. Oh shoot. You have to buy more!!!

    1. Did you call, email, tweet or DM? I received a response last week when things I ordered were, then 60 off but no response since, I might have to call later on.

      Delete
    2. I called and got right through. The CS people on the phone have been super sweet and helpful! They keep adjusting and adjusting, all with a cheerful attitude.

      Delete
    3. Yes, I only had one item to call about, the leopard perfect shirt, now a sweet $16.

      Delete
    4. I called CS for PAs. Got a silly answer initially about not being able to adjust because items were sold out. Of course I pressed on the issue and “magically” he was able to find current prices to make adjustments. Still debating if I’ll order anything else. There are a few things I’m comsidering, but I just don’t need anything.

  5. Sale definitely got me this morning esp. with no final sale. I picked up the velvet jumpsuit in tall ($20), dark green velvet mockneck top ($8), burgundy leather gloves ($30), the silver bow tweed flats and the tartan bow flats (these run small, I had to go up a 1/2 size), snakeskin skinny belt and the striped racerback tank dress for less than $5 - that was the only final sale item. I had a lot more in my cart and removed - trying hard to not have crazy sale goggles and end up with all of this velvet and sequins I will barely wear.

debating the black/white sweater skirt - has anyone tried this? j7303. it's viscose and poly so I'm hesitating

    1. Jumpsuit sounds great. I never even look at them, since I am a 4/6 on top and a 2 in pants. Sigh.
I have that belt in a pink color, it is pretty nice.

      Delete
    2. Anne I tried that black/white skirt. The material was ok but man was it clingy! No amount of spanx was going to help me. I think you could pull it off though!

      Delete
    3. @p banos I have the opposite problem being an 8 on bottom and a 4/6 on top. I tried the jumpsuit when it first came out in the regular length - I am hoping the tall will work and I like the idea of layering it with a button down.
Liz, thanks for the input! I think I'm going to sit it out for now. I have enough other goodies to keep me busy :)

      Delete
    4. Anne, I ordered the velvet mockneck top for my daughter and myself too, in black. I have a knit one from Madewell she took from me so maybe now I can get it back. 😂 I also ordered the snakeskin belt...

    5. I love the sleeveless turtleneck style - I have a lightweight cashmere blend black sleeveless t-neck from Kit & Ace that has become a staple for me -I wear it constantly over the summer and when I'm stuck with what to wear under a suit - it's so easy and flattering.

  6. Sale got me too. (DAMN IT I JUST FINISHED MY FINAL RETURNS YESTERDAY!!!) The 60% and the fact that I put 13 things in my cart just to try and nothing showed up as final sale, compared to yesterday when everything came up FS. I whittled it down and a lot of stuff sold out of my size fairly quickly - a blessing in this case -- and I ended up with 3 items instead of 13. Phew! I was also contemplating the black/white sweater skirt but the reviews were not great so I passed. I picked up the gold pleated skirt though my size sold out so I went up 1 size, and a pair of slipper loafers (K3089) for plodding around my apartment and gray Marties that came up as $20! My glen plaid Camerons are now $20 too - bummed I am past the PA period to request.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I placed one more order and am stepping away from browsing...the ivory eco ponte sleeveless mockneck top, ivory everyday cashmere turtleneck and a luggage tag in bright begonia.

    ReplyDelete
  8. One more victim - the good part was I got a PA because I checked the price on my leopard perfect shirt. When I ordered it, the "true fit" size was 2, but I got my usual perfect shirt 6. I do not believe the 2 is correct, since my smallest tops are 4, and the perfect shirts run smaller, not larger.

But then I went and ordered a cashmere hoodie. The reviews are mixed, but it is not FS. I'm not really expecting to love it, but we will see. Also a pair of high waist wide leg chinos in union blue, also not FS. If they fit like the high waist wide leg wide-wale corduroys I will like them. If not, they are returnable.

I just gave 5 pair of pants to my visiting nurse, so we are both happier. Losing weight is very good, but I'm now giving away my second pants wardrobe in three years. These were from my 'curvy' size 4 stage.

  9. YAY! they're refunding me the cost of the (half) pajama set and letting me keep the top.

    1. Is it a pj top that works as a casual top too?

      Delete
    2. yeah... well... at least that's how i'll wear it. it's Item J5046. i previously bought another set where i wear the top as a regular top as well (Item J1086). i work in a casual environment and no one noticed i was wearing a pj top. it just kinda looks like a bowling shirt or something. and it's super comfy when it's really hot and humid out.

      Delete
    3. and i want to add that if i wear it as a regular top, i do NOT wear it to bed too... i keep them separate.

      Delete
    4. I thought about wearing my leopard short sleeve pj top that way, it would be nice and cool. I wouldn't wear it to bed and then again all day, at least not without ironing it first!

  10. To any fans of BR's Ryan pants, or anyone who is interested in trying them, I just ordered two pairs for $30 each. That is amazing, as they are rarely even in stock. These are the only pants I can wear year round, they work with boots underneath which is so difficult to find, and they are machine washable! Furthermore, they make different lengths.

The promo is 60% off sale, and I believe there is an addl percentage if you use your store card.

    1. ooh thanks for the heads up, Cheri. I love the Ryan pants!

  11. I bit on the olive cashmere wrap (bought it in black and LOVE it) and the silk striped midi dress. I hope the dress works, but it's not final sale, so I felt like taking the (small) risk.

  12. Does anyone feel like this is a going out of business sale? I’ve bought some crazy cheap crewcuts items (probably 30 items for less than $300) and got a couple things for me. I don’t remember prices ever being this cheap in the eight years I’ve shopped JCrew.

    3. I thought that when they did the 70% off a few years ago.

  13. Wow, missed out. I've been waiting to get more velour sweatpants until they made sale, which just happened. I'm sure some will popback eventually. I've been living in the black ones as they are warm, comfy, and a perfect fit. I understand reviews from taller ladies who felt they were a tad short, but I'm 5'3" and couldn't be happier with them.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I hadn't even seen them previously. I always glance at new arrivals but really only shop sale. I'm 5'6" so I hope they're not too short, but I don't mind ankle length.

      Delete
    2. If you're okay with a tad short, you may like them. Or worn with socks they would still feel cozy. Burgundy is usually in stock, which I tried, but felt the hue was just too Christmasy. I decided to return, and the black came back in stock. Not so sure about the grey. I hope they make these in deep forest green and other great colors.

      Delete
    3. I had ordered them earlier in the black with the sweatshirt. Reviews said they ran large so I went with my usual XS, didn't want to size down, but I have a long rise and wear elastic waist pants like this on my hips so I think the length should be fine.

  14. Hey, I got my silk Blythe blouse (in delicious Gatlin Green) and the party dot blouse and I love them both. Too bad about the wide-leg cropped corduroys though- I'm at work so I haven't tried them on but they look TEENY TINY! I even sort-of sized up. We'll have to see what can be done- maybe they'll magically fit... Shows I should just forget about trying to buy pants online!

    ReplyDelete

    1. I am a 2 and they fit just a little loose in 4, which was the 'true fit' suggestion. Sometimes it is 'true' - 2 would have been small.

      Delete
    2. yeah, I think my hips are just too voluptuous for most pants these days... :)

      Delete
    3. Sarah, I don't think I've ever "seen" you wear pants!

      Delete
    4. Ha ha! I think I posted once a couple of years ago...I have always liked cropped pants though, so I live in hope to find some wide-legs that work for me! The cut of these JC ones are promising but I need to try another size up (or two). For $22 I have some on the way...

  15. Just saw the spring preview:
February theme is “new proportion”. Lots of wide leg pants with shorter tops, tees and tanks.

    Also new:
New cloors in cashmere coming out for spring (pastels and brights).
Jackie is back in delicious new colors:)
Vintage v neck is back and will not get holes.
New mix and match suiting comes out in different fabrics depending on season.
    Lots of tweed and boucle.

    Pointy toe flats
    Cyprus sandal is back

New unlined tote will be back
    Jewelry:
    Lots of crystals and enamel

Looking forward to seeing the flats including driving mocs. Also interested in what tweeds show up and what quality they are.

    7. Thanks Ina! Looking forward to new jackies. Hoping the dress silhouettes are flattering and they have solid colors in addition to the prints. Really hope they solved the holes issue with the tees. Literally every tee and most tanks that I bought from J. Crew developed holes and I swore I'd never buy another one so I'm anxious to see how they solved this issue.

    8. February sounds atrocious but April sounds up my alley. I hope they come out with some new shapes for Liberty items. I have room for more Liberty print in my closet but not more Liberty button downs. I hope they have some more inspiring original prints coming soon too. And while we're dreaming I hope the pointy toe flats are versatile neutral colors and real leather and maybe made in Italy?

      Delete
    9. @Ina, do you know if the Jackies are the same long sleeve ones? I keep hoping they go back to the 3/4 sleeve one with the domed buttons (like the Clare from factory) but I am disappointed season after season. I've always felt that the Jackie redesign and the first time they discontinued Cece was the beginning of the end.

    10. @Anthroblogger the video showed the Jackie’s folded on a table so i am not sure about sleeve length. I agree with you, loved the old sleeve length better.

  16. Reposting from yesterday...Has anyone tried/reviewed the Oversized Patchwork Cableknit Sweater? I missed it this morning, it sold out in my size/colour before I could check out, but I’ll watch for a popback. I’m normally a large in sweaters, but when I see “oversized “ that’s usually a cue for me to size down. I’d love to hear from anyone who’s tried it!

  17. Also wondering if anyone can comment on fit of Stubbs and Wootton loafers? Even at 60% off they’d be a total splurge, but I just love the designs. I take a 9.5 in J.Crew shoes. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  18. @shopgrrrl, I have a lot of Tod’s in size 40 leather and suede colors of the rainbows all in excellent condition. If interested let me know, I’m thinking about selling them cheap. Stubbs and Wootton loafers can be tricky with the toe box. I wear size 10. I would size up. By the way, Stubbs and Wootton has a big sale going on 50% off. Sign up for emails and you will receive a discount code. If you would like expert sizing call them direct here on Palm Beach. Ask for Cynda, she happened to work at Jcrew until last January in their Palm Beach Gardens Store and at Stubbs and Wootton for years. She know her stuff. If you decide to call tell her Lynn from Monaco mentioned her name ex Jcrew store Shopper here.

    3. @Lynn Thanks so much for the rapid reply, I really appreciate it! As the flash sale ends tonight I decided to go for it and hope for the best as I don’t think I will ever see them at that price again (the FOMO was palpable). There wasn’t a size 10, so I ordered the size 9.5 (and used PayPal in case I need to return, thanks Toronto Modern!) as they aren’t final sale. I hadn’t noticed that these were included in the 60% off until tonight, otherwise I might have had time to call for sizing advice as you suggested. That’s why I love JCA, there’s always someone willing to help! Tod’s is a brand I’m familiar with in name/reputation only, but if you decide to list yours I’ll be sure to take a look.

  19. @Ina Mack, thanks for posting details. Unfortunately they can throw all the new cashmere colors at me and I refuse to buy them. It’s really sad, they had made great quality sweaters in the past but what they’re selling now doesn’t even qualify as being called cashmere. My VPS agrees and she’s a veteran employee. As for driving mocs we’ll see. Will be interesting to see the price point. Good for Jackie, bring back Cece, Kiki, even Gemma when they were if better quality.

  20. Killed the last of my gift cards during the flash sale and I just checked the estimated delivery dates after my last order (another Polartec fleece qtr zip - they are wonderful). Should I decide to sell all proceeds will go to one of my favorite dog rescue charities and a consignment shop for abused women and children here so I’m not doing this for my own personal gain. Great about the Stubbs, wishing you all the best in fit. If you’re really interested in the Stubbs give Cynda a call. She’s very nice and helpful, won’t steer you wrong.

My VPS says it's merino wool ss sweater top/skirt hookup, in a diagonal stripe inspired by menswear. Both pieces will be online only (grr).
