Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

    1. Merry Christmas!

I'm going to wear my green/gold Collection velvet blazer with the blue/white stripe embellished Perfect Shirt, (old) Factory matchsticks in cobalt corduroy and gold loafers. Plan to be as sparkly as the tree! Since I've been ill, I don't get too many chances to dress up, but I will go for it for Christmas.

      Love and peace to all.

    2. Silver_lining, hard to believe it’s been 10 years! Thank you, Alexis, for starting and maintaining this community. Role call ... who else remembers the beginnings of JCA?

    3. It's only been 10 years?! Feels like an ancient hallowed establishment.

    4. For dinner tonight, last year's Royal Stewart tartan tuxedo blazer with this year's trousers (they matched! It's a Christmas miracle!), last year's dark green velvet pumps, and a green sequinned tee of unknown provenance.

For tomorrow, this year's black velvet easy pants and an ancient red cashmere sweater. The sweater is from when the cashmere was good. My JC cashmere from the late 90s looks better than the recent purchases.

      Happy holidays, everyone.

    5. P.S. Ruffles, I have been around since the late spring of 2008. Nice to see some of the old-timers pop in.

    6. @Hexicon, a Royal Stewart tux suit sounds spectacular! You can not go over the top for the holidays.

    7. I think I’ve been in the mix since 2009 or so? In any event, I’m going with black denim and burgundy cashmere tomorrow. Nothing super fun for my outfit, since I had to pack for a 7 day trip, and one of my luggage pieces is my dog...

    8. Merry Christmas to all! Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday and New Year! I’ve been reading this blog since 2008, can’t believe how time has flown. Thank you to Alexis and all jcas for this lovely community!
I should wear my tartan maxi which I did wear last year but part of me feels like being more casual. I’ve worn my Stewart plaid perfect shirt once a week for December so I’m retiring it for now. I will be wearing my tartan plaid (red/white) pjs tonight and possibly this afternoon while I lounge with my little ones. I bought a back up pair this year since I love them so much.

    10. Happy holidays JCAs! The only J. Crew item I’m wearing in the next couple of days is
my new pair of Madewell Etta pumps- the rest is Loft or Boden. But I love this community and know I’ve been around since at least summer 2011, since my e-mail tells me that’s when I bought a schoolboy blazer from silver lining that’s still a much-loved item in my closet today!

    11. Thank you @ruffles, Happy Holidays to you as well! Let’s hope that 2019 turns around for Jcrew and we all have lots to talk about!

    12. Merry Christmas to all JCAs, old and new! I’ll probably wear my ski print cardigan tomorrow, sorry that i can’t remember the proper name. It’s a Christmas favorite of mine.

    13. Merry Christmas to all the JCAs! Going to wear new Stewart black plaid velvet easy pants (Nordstrom price matched @ $60) with a bunch of oldies (tartan ruffle sweatshirt layered with Stewart plaid perfect shirt and tartan D’orsay ankle strap pointed toe flats with velvet tie). Exchanging gifts at my grandmother”s home & then off to our family home for more gift exchanging and Christmas dinner. Looking forward to the day & time with family!

    14. Happy Holidays, Alexa and JCA's! I'll be wearing all J.Crew-my ivory popcorn sweater with (forgetting the name) wide navy wool pants, the embellished tartan loafers, and Sabrina coat.

I think I found out about this blog around 2009-2010? My favorite community! Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas eve and day!

    15. Wow! How time flies for sure. Maybe we should do a top 10 favorite J Crew pieces over the last 10 years...I wore an old Pencil Skirt in Matelasse Silk from 2009 and a Factory Teddie sweater on Christmas Eve, still deciding for today. Happy holidays everyone!

    16. Love that, Alyssa! <3

I dug way into the vault this holiday season. Last night wore a navy blouson-sleeve sweater with navy beaded bow at the collar ('07), tartan knee-length skirt (navy/forest green/ivory/red) from '05, and pointy camel knee-high boots back from when they were "Vero Cuoio". Topped it off with a red (not orange-red) Madeline double-cloth coat ('08).

Today I'm wearing a red pintuck tee with 3/4 elastic-cuff sleeves ('07), midrise toothpick jeans in carbon (my HG - bought several pairs on eBay), a calf-hair belt and Madewell calf-hair sidewalk skimmers. Wow, remember when they made 100% cotton tees that were different/dressy enough to wear that didn't have words on them? It's fun to throw it back, but kind of sad at the same time.

Merry Christmas, JCA's! Love hearing about everyone's outfits.

  2. Much love to this community! Love, peace and I'll add best wishes for good health to all!

Older items have been worn for most of our events this season.
Madewell Langford wide leg crops in metallic (currently called Emmett) made two appearances with the embellished maryjane pumps from last winter. Once with a shrunken merino turtleneck and once with the sleeveless tie neck top in crepe.
Balloon sleeve turtleneck with leather Ryder pants and glittery low heels was another look. Lady coat with braided trim and another black coat were toppers, and I accessorized with different earrings and bracelets by j.crew.
Yesterday for hosting family (and attending a funeral) I wore Madewell black coated denim, charcoal and white buffalo check shirt under the embellished shoulder wool sweater (it zips up the back) and the current faux snakeskin boots. Topped off with the black, olive and ivory double breasted check coat from two winters ago which I've only grown to love more.
Tomorrow for hosting family again I intend to wear the red wide leg crops in 365 crepe with a red mockneck shaker sweater from the gap and red Sophia patent pumps. For my extended family Christmas Eve dinner. I usually dress up...perfect thought. Parke blazer in tartan from last winter and current distressed boyfriend jeans with patch or my other favorite boyfriend jeans and heels (which may come off at some point).

    1. I recall you picking up those Mary Janes last season, Suz. Happy they are still serving you well!

    2. @ Suz Has, you do mean JUST the heels are coming off?

      Happy Happy!

    3. With my tartan blazer I’m wear the regular length distressed patch jeans, black silk ruffle neck top (wore last Xmas eve too!) and the color block Mary Jane pumps. Was going to add the faux fur stole but was told it was too much. Added a black silk skinny fringe scarf from madewell instead. My spin on a tuxedo look.
A family was walking by as we were getting into the car and the mom stopped to tell me how much she loved my outfit too to bottom.
Oh threw on my black with red stripe custom longchamp with the red black (or dark navy) and blue oversized zebra scarf.

  3. Also wishing peace, love and good health to all JCAs, and I will add that I wish good things and prosperity for J Crew in 2019 as well!

Hosting tonight and wearing the Tartan Maxi with a black Collection Cashmere Turtleneck. Tomorrow, we are usually a little more casual and I will wear a black gingham Perfect Shirt under the Chamonix Tippi with black velvet Matchsticks. Not sure on footwear yet - comfy heels for sure.

    Love hearing about everyone’s outfits!

  4. My family is having a PJ/onesie theme this year, so I'll be wearing some ridiculous bunny onesies from Primark. Have no idea what shoes to wear since I cant squeeze my onesie-feet into proper shoes.

    1. A Happy Christmas to all JCAs! Wishing you peace, cheer and good health.

Thanks to silver_lining for the fun styling Q.

Breakfast with 🎅 I wore the old tinsel lace sparkler skirt with a navy button-back Merino cardigan and the burgundy criss cross velvet flats.

Christmas day will be J.Crew striped jammies for opening gifts with my little one, and for Christmas dinner, he will wear a striped rollneck sweater and green skinny cords, while I still need to decide! In general I've been wearing three items heavily: embellished plaid Averys (so many compliments on those every year), Stewart plaid perfect shirt (looks amazing with the warm canary pencil skirt *which I shrunk* :O, and an older wool plaid mini skirt.

Enjoyed a Google image search for J.Crew holiday this morn :)

  5. I think someone asked in a previous thread when the current promo is ending. Here are the details:

*40% discount valid on the purchase of sale items marked "Extra 40% off with code BIGSALE" at jcrew.com from December 22, 2018, 12:01am ET through December 25, 2018, 11:59pm ET.

    3. I am assuming from the timing of the promo that JC will have a Boxing Day promo. I also bet that it will be final sale given the surprising amount of stuff still left in the sale section!

    4. I was in store today and was told promo would be 50% off sale. No mention of promo on FP.

    5. hmm....everyone who ordered now has to make the PA call. I am happy I have no pending orders to be waiting for to arrive.
if final sale is still on...I will continue wait. I am happy to not have this extra work to do...just for clothing.

  7. I know JCAs will appreciate this. My youngest daughter is usually super casual but was feeling disappointed with her wardrobe and wants to dress up for my parents house tonight (Christmas Eve). She put on my favorite leather Ryder's and the black ladder trim tank from the summer. Initially she put on my lucite heel pumps but they're too big so she's wearing her own taupe wedges and a drapey cardigan. She asked if I could buy her a pair of leather pants like mine. I mentioned faux leather but she wants nothing of the kind.

I also got my two pairs of super sale jeans. The crop flares with raw hem which are a little weird for me although my middle said they look good but weird, and thenwide leg Point Sur with patch pockets. I think these need to be broken in a little and might be ok, although admittedly I don't love any of them.

    Replies
    1. That's adorable. I imagine 3 daughters gets pricey!
I don't love my crop flairs either. They're tight around my middle, and don't look nearly as good as my gray pair from the crew.

      Delete
    2. My middle daughter actually likes them enough to keep the crop flares! She is usually a 27 but has a tiny waist and the 25 tall fits. Ahh youth.

      Delete
    3. Well, glad I passed on the crop flares. I did order the Point Sur wide leg crop jeans in tall. Hoping I like those.

      Delete
    4. Hope so, P. The price was good enough that it was worth the shot, even with the risk. If my daughter decides she hates them I may either try to return or sell them. ,

  8. I found this blog by accident looking up something about J Crew, while I was recovering from knee replacement surgery - and that was 10 years ago! Many of the commenters from then seem to be gone, I still read, but since my collection of J Crew is called "hoarding" in my house, lol, I don't buy much any longer. I also worked there for 2 years recently, and picked up enough with my discount to last me a lifetime, lol. But I still like reading the reviews, the pics on instagram, etc. (I am bichonluvr on IG if you've seen my "likes") Thank you Alexis...love this community. Merry Christmas everyone!

    1. I often think about getting a second job at JC just for the discount, but my day job is stressful enough as it is and I can't imagine the life of a sales associate being any better for stress. Also, I worry that if I'll end up buying a TON with the discount - NYC apartments = not enough storage as it is and I'm having to donate/sell quite a lot throughout the year just to fit the JC purchases I make with regular non-SA discounts! But I do love the feeling of being around clothes. I find it soothing to fold clothes and arrange stuff neatly, which I think makes me OCD and probably a better fit for someone who works with inventory!

      Delete
    2. @eeps, just today I sorted and folded all my lingerie , socks and tshirts. I find order to be very relaxing, you are not alone.

Ask @Cheritheberry if working at JC generated more income than expense...

When I was a student I worked in a nice boutique. The owner let me add to his orders at cost, so I got to wear some lovely clothing and it helped sell items. I wore some of those clothes for years until they started to fall apart!

  9. Well I had planned to wear jcrew black 9" toothpick jeans, a jcrew long sleeve cashmere t-shirt (from 2012) and a jcrew plaid flannel button down from about 2012 and a jcrew necklace but.....somehow in the packing and travelling frenzy we managed to forget to pack our car with our luggage!! We had the car packed with all the gifts and were even bringing a turkey for our 5 day holiday visit with my parents which is about a 5 hour trip from home (including a ferry). When we arrived at my parents and were unpacking the car we realized we had forgotten to bring our suitcase! We are in a small town on VanCouvreur Island and there are not a lot of shopping choices. So we ended up buying some basic t-shirts, socks etc from the Joe Fresh department in the Superstore. I bought a grey merino wool turtleneck for $39 cdn and will wear that for Christmas dinner with the jcrew tartan pompom scarf from a couple of years ago and the Gap dark blue skinny jeans I was wearing on our travel day. What can you do but laugh!

  11. Merry cbristmas JCAs! This little community is my absolute fav and got me through many a sleepless night with 3 little ladies. My oldest is 7 so I’ve been around since she was a baby! I just adore reading here each day. My outfit tomorrow will be my new red sweater blazer, an embellished oxford, dark skinny’s, and maybe leopard flats. We are hosting about 20 people so I need to be comfortable but stylish. I wish nothing but the best to everyone in this community!

  12. Merry Christmas JCAs, and best wishes for 2019! I love the community here, everyone is so friendly and helpful, truly appreciate you all!!

Went to Xmas eve mass with my family tonight, wore a lot of my old school JC for some reason (prob because it was so cold out and I didn't want to wear a skirt). Ivory color matchstick cords, stewart plaid button down, and red Robert Noble wool herringbone blazer. Comfy and Christmas-y.

Love reading everyone's outfits on these holiday posts! :)

  13. Merry Christmas everyone from 28,000 ft. and climbing...no didn’t hitch a ride with Santa but the atmosphere is beautiful up here as we begin our crossing over the Atlantic. Wearing Jcrew bulldog slippers, a 2008 Collection cashmere v neck, yes and no pilling after all these years and navy draw string comfy pants. Have 6 hours to decide what to put on before arrival so not concerned:)Hope you all have a wonderful day with family, friends or whomever you are spending the day with.
