Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Outerwear priced at 50% off is included in extra 50% off sale. My son needs a coat, so ordered Ludlow wool/cashmere topcoat in navy for $100. If you need a coat or other outerwear, this is a good time to buy if your size is available.

    1. At first the only thing in my size was a grey cocoon coat and I had to resist really hard buying another grey coat since I already own 2, no matter how awesome the price it just wasn't justifiable. BUT...then the pink lodge coat popped back. That gorgeous coat is now mine for under $50! (That's using an extra 15% off coupon and the $25 gift certificate J. Crew sent in the mail- I resisted using rewards points in case those are non-refundable since people have reported trouble with those being credited back in case of returns). SO PLEASED. I think it might be big in the size that popped back but I can always exchange it later if so. YAAAAAYYYYY!!!! I think this might be one of the best steals I've ever gotten. (I regret not taking advantage of the polka dot Blythe pricing error back in the day- who remembers that?)

    2. Ha, yes I just posted about this in the previous thread. It also appears to be working on other marked down items (like the Nordic boots for example). Glad you got such good steals Alyssa and mygoddy!

    3. Looks like that was a midnight changeover quirk. That said I did get my mom the Mercantile puffer K4208 for $31.45 and I am sure she will love it.

    4. I don't need another coat (except for a rain coat!) but grabbed the double leopard in a size 4. Reviews say it runs small so I hope it works on my shoulders. I've been getting 4 or 4 tall in most coats and fit is usually comfortable. I won't layer much under this one, since it's a lighter weight I'm thinking it will be perfect over a thin sweater or blouse. I could almost see wearing it more like a blazer. Fingers crossed.

    5. yup. a glitch in the system. prices now increased for the coats.
I almost ordered. now ...this morning for sure I will not. I decided to sleep on it...should have ordered (the puffer and the polar -tec fleece zip up) on the other hand I have five orders arriving this week.
my ordering is out of control. orders are still from black friday and cyber monday .not here yet . so I have banned myself from ordering until after xmas sale.

    6. I have like seven outstanding orders! I can't even remember anymore. Luckily not much was final sale

    7. I missed this one, but I'm not in the market for any more coats so that's probably a good thing! Happy for those JCAs that scored! Suz, I purchased a 4 in the double leopard last year and it's perfect. I had never taken a 4 in a coat. It's surprisingly very warm, I wear mine nearly every day (today included) and my son goes to a park and walk school so I'm walking a block every morning and waiting for the doors of the school to open and it's been great!

    8. Glad others were able to get deals too! I also ordered winter parka in guava berry (love this pink color & temps have been ridiculously cold) and Liberty reversible puffer floral jacket (have gotten a lot of wear out of last year’s version & like the darker pattern) to try since both were almost 80% off. Have several orders pending too...in part because of partial shipments.

    9. If I feel I need to have a shop fix...I look at mu order history to remind myself of whats coming. I have ordered twice a few items because I forgot I already ordered it! def a sign I need to stop until all previous orders received/multiples returned/ wrong sizes/correct sizes sorted out/.

    10. @cheritheberry, then I hope mine fits! What size blazer do you usually wear? Mine range from 0-4 depending. Now I'm nervous. Not that a 4 has ever been really tight in the shoulders, it's just that I don't like to feel really constricted. Fingers crossed.

    11. I am always a 2 in a blazer. I'm sorry to have made you nervous, I wouldn't be nervous :) It is slightly oversized on me and I wear it with thick stuff - today I have on the ruffle sleeve sweater (fitting oversized) and the coat is still comfy. My shoulders are the larger part of my torso. I wanted a swing coat style. Does this help?

    12. Thanks, Mygoddy. You’re so sweet to share those awesome deals you find. I didn’t order, but I did check out the unbelievable coat prices last night. If I didn’t live on the Gulf Coast and I didn’t already have a plastic bin full of winter coats I never wear, I would have picked up a couple.

  3. Five day promo, with five different one day promo codes. Ugh. I dislike this type of promotion. Today's promo code MONDAY gives 50% on sale items and 50% on select full price. Do JCAs think this is as good as it's going to get over the 5 days? I'm eyeing the full-price Ryan loafers in black and vibrant flame. and can't decide whether to go for it or to wait. I bought a pair of the "rust" ones during the cybersale and loved how they fit. (By the way, it's like no rust color I'e ever seen. Color on screen didn't look rust like at all, but is actually true to life)

Are you going to go for it today or will you wait and see?

    1. to clarify - the Ryan's are full price but eligible for the MONDAY promo code

    2. You can order and get a PA if deals get better. After ordering coats, I’m cooling it for today.

  4. Are the items under “Brands we love” always excluded from promo? I’ve been eyeing something for a while but it’s never included. I really want it but can’t justify paying full price.

    1. It depends. Several brands have been included (Gola, Kreafunk, Demylee and others), but it’s really random.

      Delete
    2. If it says it’s shipped directly from the brand (a note on the product page), I haven’t seen any of those included. Otherwise, it does seem random. Beauty products, other than lip scrub by Sara happ, are usually included. Gola only seems to be included on promotion or sale priced items.

  6. I've been on hold for 30 minutes (and counting) waiting to ask why my Dec 1st Factory order hasn't shipped (and while they're at it, why haven't any of my other orders shipped). This is ridiculous.

    1. I am waiting on order placed Nov 21.

    2. Nov 21! That's totally ridiculous.

I had to hang up at 45 minutes on hold because I had to leave. I'm calling again...

    4. Wow. I thought mine were slow to arrive, But Nov 21 is ridiculous. I’m waiting for my Seavees wool sneakers (Dec 6) and several items from the 60% off sale items + 15% extra (Dec 7).

It looks like my $25 card is finally arriving today per my USPS Informed Delivery e-mail. I seem to receive most J.Crew mailing several days after everyone else.

    5. @Jeanne, I have the flannel seavees. Bought them a while ago with some magic combination of discounts. I took 1/2 size down from my regular street shoe size. These are so cute, sure you will love them. I am wearing them right now.

    6. After another 50 minute wait on hold, I learned that my packages would all be arriving this Wednesday and Thursday (except for the one I placed on 12/7). Something about UPS delays because of weather and the postal holiday for President Bush's funeral observation. CS told me that J. Crew expedited two of my shipments so it would get here by Thursday and they overnighted another. I thought that was nice. So, they're trying, but they're clearly very backed up.

    7. Also, there is no indication of any of this when I check order status online.

    8. I’ve had two 30-minute stints on hold for CS as well in the past week and I would’ve hung up after 5 min if it hadn’t been to follow up on gifts I really wanted. It’s really really unacceptable in 2018 to make a customer wait that long on the phone.

Wonderful CS has always been a big reason that loyal customers “forgive” J Crew for plummeting quality and mediocre design. They can’t afford to lose that ... or they are done.

      Delete
    9. ruffles, CS was great once I reached them, but I agree the wait is pretty long.
I placed an order yesterday with Dillards and got a shipping notice same day and package will arrive 2 days later. That's free shipping that I didn't pay extra for. I don't know how J. Crew competes with that. Well actually I do know... I bought mens' pants from Factory and the price was amazing. That's the package I am tracking. I wouldn't have bought them from Dillards.

I've purchased from Lands End, LL Bean, and Target this past month and haven't had any noticeable shipping issues. Then again, those purchases were made after Black Friday/Thanksgiving week. Then again, I've ordered AND received these things in the time that I still haven't gotten my J. Crew orders. I'll give a big shout out to Madewell though. Their Insider shipping is super quick and reliable. Not always overnight as advertised, but that probably has to do with the day and/or time of day I placed the orders.

It just seems like J. Crew has this problem or something like it every year. They must still have something that keeps customers coming back, but it isn't their reliable shipping.

      Delete
  7. Another whine about shipping issues! An order I placed 2 days ago has already shipped. Meanwhile, my order from Nov. 30 has just been sitting in "in progress" status while items in that order slowly completely sold out, so who knows if they'll even be able to fulfill it at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I can't believe that they're continuing to offer sales that will just fill them up with more orders when they're so backlogged. This morning, they had the red countdown clock at the top of the site counting down to the "standard delivery by Christmas" deadline (was like, 9 hours at 6 am EST, WTH!) but that has since disappeared. Angry customers are slamming their social media channels. Are they going to be able to recover from this holiday?

    1. Well I will not be receiving any of my five pkgs for another few days. UPS Canada online site said there was an address change. J Crew had misspelled 'Parker St " . looks like delivery will be Wed. I pretty much had it. They have messed up too many time with me lately, It is a good idea for me to take a break from J Crew. no orders for me.....I already have a full time job.

      Delete
    2. so...the pkg arrived today. what the heck. UPS Canada said address was wrong/needed to be changed and it would be two more days. showed up an hour a go. looked like original paper work and address was correct as per when shipped. I am just throwing my hands up in the air. was UPS incorrect when they contacted me?? was J Crew ? who knows . but this is bizarre.

  9. I have five packages arriving today from the BF/CM orders. I was only emailed with an update on one. If I hadn't been obsessively checking on order status on the website, I wouldn't have known. The five packages are from seven orders... with items still missing from two of those orders and one 11/26 order in "placed" limbo. Even just writing this all down looks like a lot of chaos. I'm staying away from buying any more JC until 1. all of my items have arrived and 2. final sale goes away. I don't care how good the deals are - nothing is worth this frustration.

    1. agree. I'm tired of all of this. I even could have ordered last night (before price increase) and got some amazing deals. But I do not want to spend the holidays waiting at home for deliveries /checking for credits pa's etc. Because I have not received any of my order from Nov 21 and on...I know I really didn't have to have or need any of it.it was the 60% off that got me.

  10. My orders have actually shipped on time, but because UPS transfers them to USPS it is really up in the air as to when they arrive. One order has been lost in NJ since 11/30 lol. I'm not too worried. I will either receive the package or get a refund.

  11. Does anyone know how to actually get in touch with customer service? I received a sweater with a hole in it and when I tried to start a return, it was going to charge me $7.50 to mail them back even though I clicked that they were defective. I've sent 2 emails (first one was last Thursday) plus spent a whole hour on the phone on hold. Live chat seems to be disabled? Unfortunately it's not super convenient for me to visit a J.Crew store, although I think I may need to do that at this point. It's too bad, I used to love J.Crew, lost track after several years, but have recently bought a bunch of stuff that I've been happy with. But I will probably steer clear again now.

    1. I always use their online chat service, and although I have to refresh the page until the little button lights up to initiate chat, I consistently get a solution to whatever my issue is. It's my preferred route for PAs.

    2. (Yes, it's weird, but after periodically refreshing, the little chat button DOES light up for me to click.)
