J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Styling the embroidered tassel top (Factory), suede pumps, and beaded raffia earrings on the blog today. Top runs TTS.

  2. I bought 2 pr of the high rise slim boy chino, LOVE them. Amazing heavier weight chino fabric, fit is so flattering. On me they fall somewhere between mid and high rise. I purchased the tall size and it says 29" inseam in description but they look longer than that (need to do an actual measurement), (I'm 5'10")they fall just to the top of my foot, so I could even wear them unrolled with socks and sneakers in the Fall (yay). Tried them on cuffed up with black mary janes the other day, so cute. Sad to say I'm shocked JC could still produce a product like this. They are great quality (on par with men's chinos, ha) I haven't washed them yet so that may totally change my opinion. They are miles ahead of the Sunday Slim chino from 2 summers ago.

    1. I'm so glad to hear this! I was actually considering trying mens/crewcuts.

  3. I really liked these as well, once I got my size right. I sized down and got a petite as well which made the overall fit slimmer. I ended up getting 3 colors. They wash well. No shrinking so far.

  4. I picked up a few pairs of sandals last week with the 40% off plus a 15% code and some rewards. I purchased the calf hair three strap block heel sandals and the rose gold flat gladiator sandals and love both pairs. I went a half size down from my usual J.Crew size in the calf hair and my usual size in the metallic sandals and both were good calls. I wore the flat sandals all weekend with no issues - fair amount of walking around. I wore the calf hair ones out on Friday night too and they were comfortable out of the box. I'm very happy with both pairs - I guess if I can't find a lot of clothes I love I can supplement my current summer wardrobe with some cute shoes :)

    2. That happened to me with those and I was able to reorder. It was like the entire order disappeared. Then two of the items miraculously showed up the same day as the reordered items.

  5. I received what I consider an odd call today from UPS. I posted a few weeks ago I placed an order that never arrived. After 10 days or so, when tracking went from delivery to no available info, I canceled the order. For some reason UPS shows that the cheapest item in the order, the tassel scarf, was delivered. It was not. The long message with lots of numbers to transcribe (thank goodness the iPhone does that now) asked me to call back. I felt kind of uncomfortable about the whole thing, there's an incident report, etc as if I did something wrong when all I did was not receive my order. Not once was I offered an apology. The woman I spoke with was perfectly pleasant but I still felt like they were questioning me as opposed to being concerned about the missing items.

    Is this a regular thing?

  6. Got the following today...
Drapey ladder trim top - size 8T (34D, 5'6", 135lb) - Love the burnt orange color and love the flow and length of the tall size. However, why is this poly?! I can see it working so much better in a silk or even a linen. Super disappointed in the fabric.

Jelly tortoise slides - Love the tortoise color. However, the bottoms on these are strange. The sole is not a "solid" sole (like my adidas slides). Rather it's got all of these joints where the jelly meets together that don't make the shoe feel secure when walking. Another disappointment. TTS.

V-neck sweatshirt - like the V-neck and the wider cut. Feels TTS but you may want to size up to get more drape. I like the heathered color too. Probably will keep this.

  7. Interesting. I mailed in a return on May 15th and received a very long tracking number from
UPS. I checked the tracking today and it just shows that it was received by Return Services on a May 16th and no other information was available. I called jcrew as I was worried that perhaps this return was lost or I had done something wrong. The JCrew service rep indicated that my return would be received tomorrow and that I need to allow 2 weeks before returns are received. Very strange how I can’t see the tracking details....

  8. I don't really get JC anymore. Not sure what they are doing. I love the swimsuits I bought this year but I had to ask what Mercantile is because they don't explain it on their website. It's cheap and crappy. I also asked about catalogs and was told they have gotten rid of them entirely.

  9. Not as though I'm Ms. originality when it comes to my dressing but one of the reasons I don't buy really trendy items is because I don't want to see myself coming and going. The cold shoulder of last year and floral print ruffle dresses of this year scream that to me. I was looking for something on TJMAXX.COM and the cover page shows a floral print dress that looks (to me) very similar to the mercantile one that's on the Jcrew page, and everywhere else for that matter.
I don't even dislike these dresses (though I avoid dresses myself) but between thecut. fabric and the non-descript floral they could be from any mass market store at any price point.

    1. I totally agree. It's not that I dislike JCrew's merchandise/merchandising now. It's just that it's not special anymore. I can get this stuff anywhere - H&M, Old Navy, Loft, wherever. I am no longer compelled to purchase from JCrew anymore. That bygone "special-ness" is what compelled a FLOTUS purchase clothes for inaugural events and other public and official events. Could you imagine ANY FLOTUS purchasing and wearing JCrew to a public or official event now?

    2. I think the assessment that the products have become generic is spot on. I also agree if they are going to offer generic products at questionable quality levels then I will go buy where the item is cheapest which will more than likely not be J crew. Also those floral dress patterns are reminiscent of those I owned in the late 90’s. No thanks.

  10. I got the the Going Out blazer with ruffles in black. It is fantastic (and now sold out on JC and Nordstrom). I got my regular blazer size and it fits perfectly, though I should have gotten one size up because I wanted to layer underneath, and I don't think the arm holes are wide enough for a button-down/sweater combo underneath. It is such a great twist on a classic, and the fabric is sturdy and thick. I can't wait to wear it in the office, and it can definitely be dressed down for casual. Already thinking how cute it will be with a brooch.

  11. I cannot wait to get mine even more now. I ordered 5/22 but USPS sent it to the wrong post office, and then back to the hub, so I will hopefully get it tomorrow.

Glad to hear you are so pleased!!

  12. Received orders today. Liberty floral magic bouquet ruffle popover. Love the colors and print, Took my normal shirt size 8; usually size up in Liberty. Island floral silk kimono blazer. Fit is tts and print is really pretty. Will wear with white denim and silk pull on crop pants for summer. Palm tree canvas tote (J3548). This bag is really cute and very functional. Great price for $8. Sold out online, but several at Northpark Mall Dallas. Liberty melody floral silk pj pant. Fit tts; I’m curvy so may be able to size down. This is a lightweight silk so works well for warmer temps. Wish there were pockets but happy there’s no drawstring. Look at flat product shot for true look.

    1. Painted regatta midi skirt. Love this print. I didn’t size down, but could’ve. Going to pair with Kirsten Sims beach scene v neck tee. Had a VPS find this skirt during 40% off promo in a store,

Winter sale finds: Bow tie sweater with matching asymmetrical sweater skirt. Color is a putty gray color not ivory as it appears in product shot. Fit is tts in sweater and I sized down in the skirt. Fabric weight will work well for fall.
