Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    1. I did in store but they wouldn't give me the sale price and additional % off. Store price was $99 plus 30 percent off.

    2. I think it's absolutely ridiculous that the online and store prices aren't the same and that they won't match the better price.

    3. Sorry to hear you did not get the matched sale price. They matched it for me... plus let me use the 15% coupon, ended up being around $29 for the silver evie heel....but I been in your situation before. I always keep trying until they do it...I think the chat is the best CS... email folks are more rigid....

    4. I had the store order them for me and I paid $48.99. Did you order yourself or did the store order for you? And f so did they give you the additional 30% off sale on top of the lower online price?

    5. I did an online chat asking them if they can help. They called the store and verified 30% off. Then I placed an online order per their instructions, after that they adjusted.
I bet you can do a chat tomorrow morning so they can call the store and adjust 30% would at least try...

    6. Yes, they priced it at $48.99 with 30% off, I applied the 15% in my order... they were like $29

    7. Man...I'm going to order them and request the 30% off. Sigh.

    8. So sorry:))) keep us posted!!!

    9. Well I had a busy day today and forgot to call yesterday but just realized I should give it a shot. Called CS and told her I was at the store which was 30% off sale but I had ordered online and she verified SH had sale on sale and credited me. I didn't use the extra 15% (didn't ask) but feel better. I mean I'd rather pay $34 for shoes I don't need than $49.

    11. Let me know how they work for you! Mine should be here Wednesday.... hope they fit... ordered the silver and now I am thinking should of gone with the nude.... lol

    12. I got the nude. I have so many sparkly shoes but only one pale pink (the cap toe lena) and when I put the deep blush or whatever they’re calling it on it looked great with my typical jeans and black top. A great neautral for me.

      Delete
    13. I may exchange for the nude/blush...will have to wait.... I may like the silver... have tons of grey... so may work well.... I do have a pair of like beige/nudes in Tory wedge... so will see...

    14. Love silver with grays. Can’t really go wrong!

      Delete
    15. Not as I don’t have enough grey shoes.... lol... old style suede Martina wedge and dulci kitten heels, and sued ankle wrap shoe from last year....
But hoping for block heel to be a work horse..... still thinking the silver may be too loud for everyday....

  2. I need to make a return. Out of curiosity, has anyone (in say.. cooler climes) seen a Parke topcoat size 4 in any stores recently?

  3. I have two items from orders last week or so that seem to have disappeared. The rest of the orders was delivered by last Friday and these were supposed to be delivered Saturday, then Weds and now they're not even showing up.
I have items to return and I might just try to exchange in store and get these missing items.

    1. I reached out to CS last night to check on the status of my 5/2 order, and learned that for whatever reason, the store that was supposed to ship it printed a shipping label but never delivered the package to UPS and now that item is sold out. Got a nice apology and offer for free expedited shipping on something else.

      Delete
    2. Suz Has - Do you mean the items have disappeared from your order on jcrew.com? Or the tracking number has disappeared from the shipping company's website? If the issue is with the shipping company, I'd call them directly and have them put a tracer on the package. I've had to do that with J.Crew UPS packages a twice in the past few months and both times they were able to locate the package and get it back on track. When I called J.Crew customer service about the package, they had no idea what to do, even though they're actually the ones who are supposed to initiate the missing package investigation.

Cobalt - I had a similar issue recently and I ended up receiving the package. Apparently the store printed out a UPS label, which showed up as the tracking number on the J.Crew website, but shipped the package USPS.

    3. Last week the items had tracking numbers and now they say "a shipping label has been created...and we will update when more info is available" or similar.

    1. Are there any summer dresses coming up? I like body skimming or waisted with A-line skirts.

    2. @Natalya. The brightly colored sarong is the Silk Maxi Sarong Dress in Paisley. It’s a 100 percent silk sarong-style dress (with a cool high-low hem). I think the jacket is a seersucker blazer, with a peak lapel. This was the VPS's description. Also in the back ground was another dress in what appears to be a a canary, pale type yellow Old Jcrew Maxi dress. First dress is priced at $228.00. She also included actual sketches of the dress in order to assist me with ordering the correct size. Grateful to her. I started working with her when I lost my other VPS, and she is excellent, has been there for many years and never steered me wrong about anything since working with her.

    3. @ Nayalya.Somehow what I posted above about a jacket, was inadvertantly listed between the description of the dresses. Sorry but I always have a problem posting here.

  6. I have several returns, but I want to wait until my last shipment arrives tomorrow, in case the items in that package need to be returned. This morning I received the tipped cotton pajama set, leopard print pajama set and the Liberty floral symphony cotton skirt. I love them all. Even more because of the super cheap prices I paid. I also ordered the ruffle top in Ratti painted pineapple, but the bag contained a ruffle top in blue and white stripe. I tried on the striped top, laughed at the ridiculous randomly placed ruffle, and stuffed it back into the bag. It would have been a return anyway since the style of the top would never work for me even in the gorgeous Ratti print.

Tomorrow I'm expecting the perfect shirt in Liberty D'Anjo floral and the sleeveless tank in Liberty symphony floral in my regular size, since the size up gapped at the armholes and waist. I'm hoping the sleeveless top works better in this size, but there's a chance it will pull at the bust, since the size up seemed to fit fine there.

And a bit off topic: I received and tried on a total of nine swimsuits from tjmaxx.com. I kept four and returned the other five last night. I'm very happy with my purchases. Prior to this purchase, I had only one swimsuit that I purchased at Lands' End in 2010! Yeah, it was time, lol. All of the suits that I kept are Miraclesuit brand and still offered for sale on miraclesuit.com for $160-$174, while I paid $39.99 each. *happy dance* I also ordered several Gottex suits that I really liked, but sadly they were not designed for larger chests and did not fit properly. But, at only $20, some shopper at my local store is going to be thrilled to buy my returns.

    1. OT, but that TJMaxx web site is so annoying. I don't want to endlessly search through every swimsuit they sell to find the brand I am looking for, but it doesn't let you search by brand. I don't understand this business model. I love a TJ Maxx store, but any time I've gone to their web site I've been annoyed and left when I can't search on what I'm looking for. And I can't get free shipping, I don't bother ordering, and I can't get up to the free shipping order amount there because it's taking too much time to scroll and look for something rather than just search for it by brand. I'm glad you found some good deals there on swimwear though, that's always a win!

      Delete
    2. Totally agree that it's annoying. I suspect that brands won't let discounters like TJ Maxx list the brand so overtly on their sites or allow them to easily show up in search engines. because it discourages buying full price elsewhere. Why would you pay full price from Gottex for this season's suit when you can get last season's for 1/4 of the price.

      Delete
    3. Boston Brit is correct about TJ Maxx not being allowed to “advertise” the brand names, but I also get frustrated with their website for this reason. Sometimes you can get around the search function limitations by using style names and key words associated with the brand. As far as the free shipping minimum, I just order more stuff to try. I am in my local store ridiculously often anyway, so returning is no big deal for me.

Even in the store, though, I get annoyed that I have to rummage through racks of cheap plastic handbags to find the gems. I tell myself that someone else would have already grabbed all the good stuff if it wasn’t hidden behind crap, lol.

      Delete
    4. Thanks for the tip about tjmaxx online. I didn't realize they have a website. I don't have any stores on my usual route and they have great prices on those cami/bralettes with padding. I like these and especially wear the racerback style. I've ordered some on Amazon etc but have had mixed reviews with a lot of them. At least I know I can return these to a store if I don't like them.
There was a fairly limited selection so the website wasn't bad.

  7. Well I went to make my returns and had serveral odd in store experiences.

I noticed the deep blush Evie ballet pumps in the sale section. These are online at 48.99. I found my size and they run quite a bit smaller than last year's comparable Sophia patent Pump, so I wanted a size up. An assoc was there and when I asked her about a size she kept searching for the size they had there...I explained I needed the next size and she found them at a NYC store but told me she couldn't order them for me but she wrote down all the info while I was just trying to get a fitting room.

I explained how they were less $$$ online and couldn't she order them from the website as Kate Tayban mentioned above? She was so confused...

Anyway, I got a dressing room and tried on two other items, one the eyelet funnelneck top that I'm missing (noted above). She and another assoc in the fitting room criticized the way I tucked it in "you need to leave it out" and she kept repeating her name to me, which I could understand but it was just weird.

Anyway, I got online but then saw a stylist I know tell another client online she could help him via email so I got off the line to talk to her personally.

I received the cotton linen blazer and the sizing ran very small or it was mismarked. As I ordered on sale I wanted to make sure they'd exchange and give me the same price, but it wasn't in store. She told me just to return in store and reorder the correct size, and if there were problems she'd come over.

I was helped and returned two items but then asked about ordering the blazer in a different size, and the assoc put in the current price with the 30 per. Off which is still a lot more than I paid last week...so I asked her to match the price I paid.

All the while mid transaction she kept leaving me to help an assoc find a style number for a mysterious necklace someone wanted to buy from the sale section.

Finally I asked her about ordered the Evie pumps and she told me it was corporate policy not to call other stores. I told her it would be easy enough to order online with my other items and she was so unhelpful. I had to show it to her online on my phone and she still put in the store price of 99.99 and not the 48.99 it is online, then I asked her if I'd get the additional store percentage off and it was as though I was insulting her. Why am I even shopping in the store when I'm treated like a bother?

The stylist who offered to help me earlier walked by and I motioned to her when the woman helping me left my transaction to help another assoc find the style number of this mysterious necklace...and she said that she was actually the manager. What the heck?!

Meanwhile by now the line was ten people deep.

I had a 15% off store purchase but didn't even want to deal with using it at this point.

Aside from the full time stylists, there's no reason to shop in store. Prices tend to be higher and service has been diminished.

It was a very frustrating experience.

I was ON line or what other people might say IN line.

    3. in NYC we stand (impatiently) on line. as in, “‘scuse me, are you online?”

gym teachers and choreographers tell people to get in line.

this is because most of them are actually not natives.

    4. This sounds so frustrating. I sometimes wonder how the stores survive when prices are better online.
On another note, I ordered a pair of shoes online during the 50% off, but they were too big. I called CS and they ordered me a new pair in a smaller size and adjusted to the original price I paid during the promo. It was super easy and the new shoes fit perfectly. I was very happy with customer service by phone.

    5. WFF...NYC born and raised. So I also say ON line.

by the lake, I would have been better off calling. Or anything! I figured since I had to return anyway what would be the big deal but next time I will know. Otherwise I'll just order myself online (meaning, on the World Wide Web, not online in the store 😂) and ask to match the previous price.

    6. so sorry. in Canada we say inline. I get it now.

      Delete
    7. Online vs inline... I had many arguments with my coworkers in my past life as a copy editor living in the Southwest! I also argue about whether I’m in or on Long Island... which seems like a rather large island to be on, rather than in its many many towns. Anyway FWIW I have stopped asking for SAs for help in stores. I know more about JC policies and offerings than they do, and they seem less concerned with helping if they feel like a commission isn’t imminent. For PAs and special orders I wait to go home and call CS. The only NYC stores with consistently exceptional customer service are Brookfield and 347 Madison.

    8. Reporting back. I called CS and received excellent service. Asked about two missing items that aren't even showing up even though they shipped last week and received credits for, those.

    9. FYI J Crew no longer offers commissions.

      Delete
    10. Wait, eeps, I really want to hear more about your experience living in the southwest and working as a copy editor. Pros and cons of southwest living? What exactly is a copy editor, and how do you become one?

IMO you are always ON an island, but IN a city/town/state/country. So annoying when people say they are IN an island. How is that even possible? Maybe if you are spelunking.

      Delete
    11. I'm sorry for the frustrating experience! I agree that rarely is in-store shopping pleasant, and I'm speaking generally, not specifically about jcrew. My store has had some (okay one) seriously marked down prices in the past and that's why I check in every now and then to look at the sale section and see new items in person. It does seem like that one item was a fluke as I haven't found any good deals since then.

      Delete
    12. @ anon: I'm from NYC so Southwest living was very slow and quiet to me. Very affordable to live (housing and food), but I didn't like the dependency on a car. I moved back to NYC about 5 years ago; I was in the Southwest for 4 years because my company relocated. I had the choice between Southwest, Midwest and South, and while it was nice for a few years, I'm not the SW type. Maybe if I were closer to retirement. The weather was lovely most of the year, until the summer when I basically was a vampire who only came out at night. A copy editor is an editor who works strictly with grammar and style, as opposed to any other editor who might be editing for overall content and substance. In my case, I studied journalism in grad school and trained specifically as a copy editor, which is a career track within journalism. Hope this helps!

      Delete
    13. thank you eeps.! That sounds like a pretty great job. I hear you about car dependency. It's all I've known but I long for being able to walk everywhere.

      Delete
    14. @ anon: it's a great job for a very particular type of personality. Someone who remembers random things, is excellent at trivia and is anal retentive about grammar and style. Copy editors (in journalism) also write headlines, subheadlines and captions, so you also have to be good with wordplay. It's a dying field though - most newspapers can't afford copy editors anymore, so they either go without or they train copy editors to be general editors but they no longer have the time to be as picky with the copy, so sloppy editing ensues.

Walking and public transportation are great! Essentially when we are all too old to drive (safely), we will want to live somewhere car-independent. Why not start when you're younger?

  8. Did anyone (I guess this applies to Crewcuts customers) get an email about j.crew asking customer’s opinion on Crewcuts graphic tees? Slated for release in the fall.
I mostly gave it one star for poor design. It’s not like the Crewcuts from before...

    2. I agree with what you're saying about the decline in graphic design for crewcuts. IMO it's been on a downhill slide for years now. No comment on this new fall release. I will say I think Gap is improving slowly. I actually think their designs are better right now, especially if you like star wars and of the moment things like that. I do like the crewcuts accessories and fun items, though.

Thank you both for the reporting on what's to come in fall! st are you talking about the easy pant or are their new pant styles coming out? thanks

  10. So...I'm not sure how to convey this without coming off judge-y and condescending, so I'm going to frontload this comment with as much prefacing as I can. I do not intend this to be a criticism of a particular person for what they choose to wear and I appreciate that we all have different style perspectives. Part of what's great about being a part of a community devoted to a brand is getting to appreciate how different people style the same pieces to fit their personal self-expression. That being said, I was very surprised by the attire of a sales associate the other day, and, being worn by an employee of the store, I think it isn't a leap to interpret the outfit as representative of the direction the brand is heading. And I think it's okay to say- "that's not the fashion for me", which is the sole intent of my comment- NOT to criticize the SA for what she was wearing. I actually think the SA looked on-trend, and that the way she styled the outfit was flattering to her, and she seemed comfortable and happy, which is the most important thing. That said, here was the outfit, and my personal reaction to it in the moment.

I'm shopping in-store less and less, but I hadn't seen this SA before. She was wearing a large-scale black-and-white plaid flannel shirt, worn off the shoulder with bright purple bra straps purposefully showing, tied in a knot just below her bust-line. There was not any cleavage nor the cups of her bra showing. I'm not familiar enough with J. Crew's recent intimates line to know if it was a J. Crew bra/bralette, but I don't recall seeing anything in that color on the website in the past. She was wearing very pale colored high-waisted jeans that came just below her navel, so her midriff was exposed. The jeans are what I think you'd call "mom jeans", tight at the waist, but not at all fitted through the hips and loose through the legs as well.

I'm in my very early 30s, and my first association was "well that would be a dress code violation at my middle school". I understand that 90's style is the new "retro is cool again" these days, but to me, this outfit was unrecognizable as J. Crew. It seemed much more in-line with what I think of as the Madewell core customer, and seemed very "young", and far more casual than anything I would wear in my day-to-day life (which is not very dressy). It was difficult to imagine that the person in front of me would like to shop at the same type of store as me, which was a bizarre experience to have in my favorite store! It made me feel sad to feel so disconnected from the brand, and to think, "whoa, I am definitely not their target customer, if this look is supposed to be aspirational for me."

Anyway, I am curious to hear what other people's reactions to the description of the outfit are, and I would fully welcome the perspective that my reaction says more about me than it does about J. Crew. Part of me just feels old and judge-y, and I can also see an argument that what I was reacting to was this person's particular styling. For instance, a neutral button-down flannel open over a bright-colored solid tank, knotted at the waist, over a pair of dark wash skinnies is something I would easily wear/identify with. Thoughts?

    1. Sounds like what my 20 year old put on yesterday when she was going into the city, (minus the flannel and regular denim not pale). I did tell her she should change.

That doesn't sound very Jcrew to me. I can't imagine having that much belly showing while working.

      Now I feel old.

      Delete
    2. @Alyssa, I think you explained it very well. I would’ve been pretty shocked seeing an SA wearing that, I don’t think she’s allowed but who knows now. I know at my closest b&m that would not have fit in. The stores also sell suiting etc so I don’t think that fits their image (at least I pray things don’t get that bad).

      Delete
    3. I'm sure I would have had the same reaction. That look would fit in perfectly at say Forever 21, but not at J.Crew, unless they really truly no longer care about their core customers.

Considering there is a photo on their main page at this moment of a woman with shorts going up her derriere, I'd say modesty, sophistication and class are no longer "on brand" for the company which is sad. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd stopped loving J.Crew, but I think it has happened. The brand just no longer represents my style. Yes I can find a few pieces here and there but that's basically how I feel about any retailer, so J.Crew is no longer anything special. It actually makes me sad, and I don't particularly want to explore what that says about me as a person - haha.

      Delete
    4. Violet, What main page? I haven't seen that.

    5. I see what Violet is talking about. It is the photo for the vacation shop on the home page. I have to say that is very un-crew like and quite honestly not in good taste imho.

    8. I could care less what anyone is wearing so long as they are kind. I will buy a J.crew product from anyone wearing anything so long as it is stylish (not trendy), flattering, and well made. I understand brands want to put forth a particular image and create a vibe, but that's their problem not mine.

      Delete
  11. Here is what I can say, exposed midriff or low neck lines and oversize clothes is a no no. Associates needs to look polish that is consistent to the J.Crew image.
She is definitely not following the dress code. Call the store and speak to the manager so they can enforce the dress code "style guide."

  12. Sale section was 1600 at 5:30 am today but lots of things were sold out and not updated. Lots of new stuff added (like all the fruits and other embroidered sweaters, gingham). Some popbacks were head scratchers in terms of price - linen palm tree skirt from 1 year ago is $50+? I picked up a pair of Sorels (already have a pair and love them); the Liberty Jackie, a sun hat and the striped T shirt dress for an upcoming shore vacay. What I actually should have done was buy some solid tees but totally flew out my head in the face of popbacks (is there a JCA term for this phenomenon?). No promo but I’m ok with these prices.

    5. Sold out items are still showing up on the website this evening. So odd. But I can personally verify that there was a big update during the night and most things were still in stock when I shopped at 4am central time. However, the sizes were very limited and most of the prices just weren't that good. I only ordered a few pairs of cheap socks.

I received the Liberty D'Anjo floral perfect shirt and the Liberty symphony floral sleeveless tank and I'm very happy with both of them The sleeveless top looks much better on me in my regular size, although I know many people had to size up for a good fit. I suspect it's because my regular size is actually slightly loose these days. I've increased my workouts over the past few months and I've lost a few pounds, so I may need to reevaluate my "regular" size soon.

  13. I stopped in last night as my Mother’s Day activity (it was raining and today will be sunny for gardening). The factory midi dresses were front and center and there were about a million of them. Plus it feels like the lingerie display grew bigger and it put me off. I was glad to see the Ratti top (which is on its way to me) and the merino sweater blazer which I’m considering - just can’t decide on color. I liked the pineapple embroidered maxi skirt but as it gets closer to summer I start to question new purchases because I have no need for them (teacher and during summer I’m in workout clothes and maxis which I have plenty of). My littles has fun picking out some jewelry for themselves but I left without buying anything.

  14. One more thing: there were some cute red/coral flat espadrille sandals on the factory website this week and now they have disappeared. Hoping they come back because they would get a lot of use. Both with the Ratti blouse and a new dress from Boden (a cute shirt dress with vespas on it) besides other things in my closet.

    2. It’s the Sophia shirt dress. It’s so cute and it has in between buttons - those are the details to love Boden for! It’s on its way to me

  16. I'm very out of the loop and I know LOTS has changed with the Crew, but where is the Mom's Day discount? I really expected a nice discount code....I just want to order a dress and will wait until it goes on discount. I have made two orders in the last week, more than I have made in 6-8 months. I'm hopeful some cute things come up soon...and with a nice sale too!

    1. Me too Stray Cat, but what a disappointment! I stopped in my B&M today to pick up some online orders. They honored the online pricing of some hair accessories that were sold out online which was great. I really appreciate the attentiveness that they gave me today.

I got an email from J Crew yesterday asking me to preview some holiday girls gear. It was all way too over the top and nothing that I’d put my 2yr old in. They need to go back to simple/classic/timeless and not try to put six trends into one garment.

    2. I was looking for a discount as well.
@Zach and Mere - I rated those Crewcuts tops 1 star. They were just ordinary tops you’d see at Old Navy. It didn’t look J.Crew like when From years ago. That distinction is gone.

  17. Forgot to mention that I've have found some super cute, wearable, age appropriate (for me...I'm not young, but still love clothes and my dressing style reflects that) and inexpensive clothes and shoes at Target. I'm more and more impressed with their things! I've picked up some long cotton dresses, cute sandals that look exactly like J. Crew sandals, a very nice A-Line denim skirt with a front slit (looks like Madewell or the Crew), nice earrings, a pair of slim cut white jeans that fit me like a glove....I'm super pleased! The customer service is always great at Target too. I really enjoy finding treasures there!

    1. I wrote a long post regarding Target, but it disappeared. :(

I assume you’re looking at the Universal Threads line. I’ve heard good things about it. I’m excited that they're using more natural fibers as I absolutely hate synthetics. I plan to stop by and take a look in the next few days.

I used to love their Nick and Nora pajama line until they went cheap with the fabric and made everything out of polyester. That brand used to be strictly a department store brand and was quite expensive. When Target first started selling the brand, the style and quality was exactly the same as department store merchandise had been, but at a much lower price point. I wore that brand exclusively for several years, adding a few new pairs every season, until they started using cheap synthetics and making weird styles. I was so disappointed.

    2. I think I know the Nick and Nora pj's you're talking about! Didn't know they used to be better quality. That's disappointing.

I hate Target's website. They lost me at banner ads and boxing each item in with a gray line. Also finding things is difficult with such a large inventory.

I like jcrew because as erratic as their sizing and quality is, they do make my size, and more stuff than not is still of decent quality. The ratios are the opposite at most other places.
