Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I went today to make a return (received a popback of a drapey long-sleeved tee that was really stretched out, the SA thought it might have been mis-sized). The yellow background of the Liberty popover in magical bouquet is ever so slightly green-toned and not a good match for my skin tone, which I guess will save me some money! I didn't try it on, but holding it up, it looked like it ran slightly big, definitely go with your smaller of 2 sizes, if not sizing slightly down.

In other news, the website doesn't seem to be working for me, but the new promo is 40% off select styles- prepare to contact customer service for popbacks if you happened to order something that wasn't excluded from the 30% off promo.

    1. I must have gotten in just in time. I ordered another pair of super cheap jeans.

    2. I was unable to check out around 12:30 EST and then my cart grayed out. Good for you on the jeans Jeanne!

  3. Had a cart full of items this morning and then realized the 30% off sale is gone. Does anyone know if it is still going on in store? I may still order and ask for a PA...

    1. @Anne- I had three items in my cart as well which will now just sit there. Yes, I know if a store is having an additional % off I could contact CS to try to get a price adjustment but it is nothing I have to have and I don’t feel like jumping through hoops to get the best price. So frustrating. I was not even aware the current promo was supposed to end last night. Oh well.

    2. JessF, I definitely get it. I took a few things out of my cart but still did pick up a few things. I tried the tie-waist cotton dress in navy and the short sleeve keyhole dress and picked up a bathing suit top - trying to find a lavender top that fits right and it's proving to be a challenge!

    3. Anne- I was looking at some new sneakers and the lace top in copper which I realized will match a Boden pencil skirt that I am having a hard time finding a match for. Matching and finding things that fit right has become more difficult! Good luck with the hunt for a lavender top. I also now have rewards burning a hole in my pocket but will wait for % off sale to return.

  4. JC is back to their old pricing games this morning. Items that were marked down a few days ago, in the sale section (plus % off too) are now back to full price with the 40% "summer" promotion. Nothing I actually want is on promotion or sale. I'm done for now.

    1. Yup have a bunch of stuff in my cart and none of it qualifies for the promo. What actually IS on sale right now? Probably just anything white and tank tops.

  5. Agreed with above. Items that were on sale last week became full price with 30% off and now they're not even eligible for promo.

    1. This! There are things in my cart that were marked down by $30 or more. One was marked half off plus 30% off of that. Now they are all full price and all but that one are not eligible at all for the current promo. Obviously I am not going to pay full retail when others are getting $30 or more off, I don't care how much I love the magical bouquet print (argh but don't really need a popover). Folks getting great discounts on jeans, this is great. All options of my size are $125. How can I justify paying that for jeans when others are paying $32.99 for something verrrrrrry similar but last season or whatever. Now I am also having website issues. Will have to wait for another decent sale. It has become way too time consuming to hit "purchase." Will just go without.

    2. I agree that it can be annoying, but I feel fortunate that I’ve been able to take advantage of some of the odd pricing. I bought 5 pairs of jeans recently for $18-22 a pair. I was lucky that they happened to popback in my size.

I also bought the linen perfect shirt in white and black for $19.99 each when they were new arrivals. Someone here mentioned that new items sometimes go to the sale section first, then are removed and priced back to full price after a few days. I assume that’s because the same item was offered last year, ended up in the sale section at the end of the season, and no one bothered to update the price when they added new stock to the website.

    3. I was trying to get the linen perfect shirt in black for that price! I kept missing it last year. Sigh.

It's become bothersome for sure. I'm cost conscious so I'm not going to spend more one week when I know I could have gotten for a lot less previously.

    4. It is great to hear that there is a silver lining somewhere. Would love to see a denim popback in my size!

  6. I placed a large order when the extra percentage off applied to temporary sale items, plus I added a 15% off code. Now I have a pile of returns, but I think they can wait until the jeans I ordered this morning arrive at the store.

    I'm returning:

*the selvedge chambray shirt in medium chambray. I have the older version in a darker wash that I love, but this one is a hot mess. It's "aged" with what looks like bleach spots down the front plus a hole in the pocket. If that happened to a shirt I already own, I'd put it in the trash, so no.

*utility pocket shirt in chambray stripe. The stripes + dropped shoulders + loose fit = me looking like a whale. I ordered the same shirt in denim, so that one will likely be added to the return pile when it arrives tomorrow.

*striped perfect fit tee in bright lemon. I really wanted to like this, but I don't. I'm also returning the one in jasmine.

*zip front one piece swimsuit. This is a very flattering style, but it's too big for me and the zipper is messed up. I'm definitely going to look for another high neck swimsuit for summer though.

    I'm keeping:

*everyday chambray shirt. This shirt is much nicer than I expected, especially for only $26.

*several neutral colored perfect fit tees. I only paid $11 for them and the neutral colors rarely make it to the sale section, so I thought it was a good time to stock up.

*classic popover in Ratti® floral. I went back and forth on this one for quite a while. I like the print a lot, but I don't care for the popover fit. I wouldn't pay full price, but I think I like it enough for $44.

Unsure: slim perfect shirt in leopard print. I know some here don't like this shirt, but I love leopard print and I thought the shirt was quite flattering. However, I'm not sure if I should keep it or return and wait for a better price, since it doesn't seem to be a popular item. I paid $35. What do you think?

    1. I was looking at that denim utility shirt when it was on sale. Thanks for the review of the striped one. I'm guessing it probably wouldn't be so flattering on me either.

Re the leopard shirt, I'm tempted as well. I just know from experience I like a small dose of leopard as opposed to such a statement. It looks nice though.

    2. Yep, the denim shirt is going back, too. I have broad shoulders and the dropped shoulder + loose fit make me look positively enormous. I’ve never been able to pull off the half-tuck, but that might improve the look somewhat. Also, the shirt has an odd odor that’s very off-putting...moth balls?

Two more returns I made this week: the seaside pants in chambray and in white linen. I purchased both of these at a much lower price than they’re currently offered and I really hoped they’d work for me. The fabric was nice, too. Maybe it’s just my body shape, but the pants seemed oddly proportioned: too much fabric in the belly and crotch, yet not enough in the butt. They were somehow simultaneously too large and too small.

  7. I received 2 coupons in one of my jcrew packages. A 15% off and a 20% off. I went from not getting coupons to this. Pretty cool.

    1. Yes! I applied the 20% to the yellow liberty shirt and with the 20% for cardmembers and boom 66 or something dollars! I strutted out of the store with my deal!

  8. The smocked one-piece swimsuit is so cute. It's TTS. Has detachable straps. I'd take them off for getting some sun, but I'd need the straps to swim etc. I've only seen the dark colors, not the green or red. It has a shelf bra and a bit of side boning, but not underwire. It's not that supportive, but it's probably no worse than bandeau suits they've offered in the past. I really love the smocking. The girl's smocked one-piece looks cute too. I wish they'd made the women's one in that colorway.

  9. Nice! I received several extra 15% coupons, but no 20%.

  10. Strange sale discount in Cdn store today (Park Royal). Signs for additional 50% off sale on the men's side but only additional 30% off sale on the women's side. Sale section mostly same items which have been lingering for months, with a few new additions (eg tie back merino sweater, pink and grey version). I searched in hope of the odd online return "unicorn" surprise in my size. Nothing today. Very few shoes but did see one pair of the low grey Dulcie heels size 8 $100. So if store is offering 30% of womens sale can I ask for a PA for an online order in my correct size? JC why do you have to make it so complicated? Also what is with the online pricing games, please stop toying with me. For example - Merino wrap sweater (plain wool, 4 or 5 colours, not lurex) was $32.99 online (plus additional promo eligible) and in store a couple of weeks ago. Now price is back up to $50 + online but leftovers in store at $32.99 Cdn.

Perhaps there is just an algorithm and AI automatically generating these online sale price increases in the background. I'd like to believe it is not a cunning retail strategy with the humans at JC playing these pricing games with their customers!

  11. I wish the powers that be would realize how annoying it is to have the categories on the side. The way the website works at least on my iPad you can't just hold the window open and scroll down as you can for Madewell, you have to scroll the page down to click on some of the categories and it's so much more labor intensive to search. I'm probably not describing the issue properly but it's annoying.

    1. Not sure if my issue is the same but mine webpage jumps when you click on more than one category, as if it is must refresh before I can click on another category. Very irritating!

  12. Received both a retail order and factory order. I like my factory items better than the retail ones. I received the factory Eyelet dress in Green. Sized down per reviews. This one fits me better than the retail version in the length. Also received the Seersucker Dress. Fits me like a glove and nice material and quality. Gingham ruffle mini skirt goes to right above my knees at 5’4. I love the colors and fit. Considering getting the navy version of this as well. Last was the Gingham Boardwalk Slides. I am an 8.5 and went up to the 9 as they are whole sized only. Cute and comfortable enough for the price I paid. As far as retail, I received the silk polka dot ruffle blouse. The quality is great but the shape is terrible. So boxy if left out and too short to be tucked in. It is going back. Striped perfect tee I will probably keep. On the fence about the Toothpick jeans in Neil. The raw hems are done a bit sloppy compared to other retailers and I am just not sure I need these. My other toothpicks will be here this week and I will make I final decision when they arrive.
