Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Sorry, I know this doesn’t exactly fit the post but I’m hoping someone can help me anyway. I placed a Factory order last week trying to use the stupid birthday coupon that you can’t combine with any promos and a minute after I clicked order I saw that it said I had 45 minutes or something to edit my order so I canceled the whole thing. It shows as canceled and the total shows as zero. The amount billed to my card isn’t showing up, just the $25 promo. I also used $10 in rewards that is back in my account. So it looks canceled but the items showed up at my house yesterday. And I tried them all on and don’t like them, so I want to return them. But what will happen if I bring them into the store, since it seems I got them for free? Will they credit my account money anyway? This is kind of a scummy question I guess. What should I do here? Sell them on poshmark and make a couple bucks? (Kidding...sort of).

    1. I would take them to the store and explain what happened or contact customer service. I am sure they would tell you to mail them back free of charge. I have been shipped the wrong item several times and received something that was more expensive than what I ordered and considered keeping it for a brief second but I believe in karma so I just returned the incorrect item in store. Just my two cents.

  2. Check your cart and lists, items that have been exempt from recent promos are eligible for the current promo this morning.

    1. ahh!! I called two stores this morning and both told me no addtional % off sale...

    2. That's so weird. And yet typical of JC inconsistency lately... if anyone is in the Toronto area, Sherway is definitely doing the extra % off sale

    3. Any stores in NYC? Doing 30% off sale ? Thanks

    4. No extra %off at my store in the US

    5. Thanks! In NJ the 30% off was in-force. I stopped by my local store today and found the white/blue stripe cotton cropped cardigan (H9342) for $15. It will immediately go with my elephant marties. I'm a small or medium, and the medium was the better fit in this sweater.

  9. Went to the store today. They had a healthy sale section, but nothing of interest even if they had extra % off. No full price clothing of interest either. I don't think I'll visit again any time soon unless there is something really different in the new roll out.

  10. I stopped by Nordstrom Rack after work as I was near there for an appointment. I bought a pair of cap toe Gemma flats - the peachy beige color with black toes and saw some other Crew shoes and a few pieces of clothing amongst the racks. Didn't have a ton of time to browse. Gemma flats were $59.99.

  11. Popped in to Factory in my travels today. The whole store was 60% off, sale was extra 50%, and a bunch of new arrivals were out. A couple cute things - I liked the navy linen blazer w the ruffle trim - but everything looked very wrinkly and hung poorly on the hanger. Left w a couple pairs of slim chinos for my son, nothing for me.

  12. I stopped by to make a bunch of returns. Sale was 30% off and additional 20% for cardholders. I actually bought the going out blazer with ruffles after one of the stylists suggested I wear it open and sized up (I usually size up in blazers anyway). It's a great price and cute but I'm not sure it works well for me. I'm going to try it with a few different pairs of pants/higher rise jeans and see.
The only thing I saw that I was interested in is the newish funnelneck shirt in eyelet. It's really pretty, but I have so many tops and don't need it even with whatever percentage off it would work out to be.

    1. I didn't realize the 20% off for cardholders was in addition to other promotions.

  13. Somehow I was up after midnight and checked the site. Sale is now 30% off. Happy shopping!

  14. Hi JCAs - there are some new items online if you search generic terms. I saw the mixed gingham Jackie, a gingham ruffle mini, and a couple of short-sleeved Tippis (are they really Tippis if they have short sleeves?). There's probably more out there, or they'll trickle in over the course of a week or two. ; )

  15. Extra 30% off sale! High fives everyone!
I just placed an order rebuying everything I ordered two days ago, but now they have my actual size. Plus the everyday striped cashmere and the cherry Tippi. Been finding the light sweaters are really getting me through this weird late winter weather we’re having in NYC. When I bought my first everyday cashmere sweater I cursed JC for the thinness but now I appreciate it: it’s for these chilly but not that cold days. Been getting a lot more use out of mine in the past two weeks than the entire time I’ve had it.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I also ordered the striped cashmere, but in both small and medium. Hate to do that, but sizing is unpredictable. How do you find that sweater runs?
At $27 I couldn't resist trying. The price adjustment on my Parke topcoat more than covered the sweater.

      Delete
    2. I found it TTS. I can wear a cami underneath, which I have to do because I feel the white part is a little sheer for my modesty. Kind of like a Tippi except a little boxier.

      Delete
    3. Thanks, guess I'll find out soon enough. I usually wear a very thin cotton tee under sweaters, so sheer should be ok. As a 6 with (very) muscular shoulders, I'm often between small and medium.

  16. I placed an order early this morning for several popbacks (3 skirt and another pair of pajamas) using the 30% off promotion plus an extra 20% off card I received. The website was acting crazy so I wasn't able to buy everything I wanted to try, but I successfully checked out with the main items I wanted and I'm happy about that.

  17. I ordered a few things, the black going out blazer, drapey crepe ruffle sleeve top in ivory and the ivory hammered silk blouse. I'm still on the fence on the blazer as I have the khaki one but we'll see how I feel when I get it.

  18. Ok, that gingham ruffle mini is adorable. I love the longer version but don't wear long skirts and feel it has a bit of a table cloth vibe, but the mini is cuuuuttte. Might be more gingham than I really need after just getting those adorable gingham and eyelet shorts, plus I have the same skirt in white linen from last summer, but I really like it.

    1. Also I ordered a few things, including a second pair of wide leg camo pants and a larger size. My daughter liked them so I figured for the price it couldn't hurt. I also asked for PAs for several orders placed over the last few days, but my previous email for a PA went unanswered so I'm not too hopeful.

    2. I noticed that gingham mini today too. Love it!

    3. I ordered too, but had Nordstrom to price match since I had rewards and wanted to earn triple points.

  19. Finally a % off sale. Only ordered the tie neck halter top and a scarf, but did get a PA on a previous order. There are certainly some good deals, but trying hard not to order more than I need.

  20. Well after no shop February and March I finally caved and place an order. I ordered the gingham pull on shorts, the featherweight striped cashmere sweater, the elephant Marties, the long open stripe cardigan and the two tone pored toe loafers in iced peach. All for $137. Hoping the sizes will work. It looks like the extra percent off will last until 4/16 so I’ll be watching those pop backs.

  23. OT, but I was helping my husband host a fundraiser for our daughters team and it was a poker night. I wanted to dress a little flashy but not over the top...I wore some old faves, the black silk ruffle top (from last fall I think, it popped back today) and my goldsign jeans, with the colorblock satin Mary Janes from holiday 2016. Topped with the red tartan parke tuxedo blazer and a sequin scarf. Of course I didn't get a pic but I didn't feel like I was wearing holiday clothes, and coincidentally it was the tartan parade in NYC (and tartan week).

  24. Funny story. I went to return yet another item (I don't know why I keep ordering if all I'm doing is returning everything)... Anyway I figured I would try a couple of things on... So I'm in the dressing room and I overhear a sales person telling a customer about the 20/30 deal. Her response was: that's lame. The last one was 40% off.

I think JCrew got themselves into a sticky situation with these weird % off things.

  26. This morning at 6 am there was a sale update of 1200+ with some head scratching pop backs. I had the bow shoulder sheath dress from 2015 in my cart but sold out while I was browsing. Drake silk pants in bengal tiger popped back in size 10... faux leopard coat in xxs, and liberty edenham popover in a few sizes but none mine. I ended up not buying anything but got a PA for my Sadies that arrived Friday.

    1. I admit that I seriously considered the bengal tiger pants, but then I came to my senses and remembered that I have absolutely no use for silk pants. But they're so pretty.

    2. I have the same argument for the Easy Pants but the silk changes it for me - it’s so luxurious. I have the JCxPiamata monkey pj pants from years ago and have been wearing them a ton. Actually why I’m stalking the bengal tiger pants - the Piamatas are starting to pull (didn’t know silk could pill).

  27. I just opened up my box with the pop back of the cap-toe Elsie pumps and I was surprised to find a Factory coupon in the box. And then I noticed that my packing slip was from J.Crew Factory and not retail. I am wondering if they are shipping the older items from Factory stores now that the clearance store is closed? Recalling that someone had an issue returning those old Academy pants, I'm wondering if this is going to prove problematic as people are returning older items. Has anyone else noticed this?

    1. Anne, I just received an older pop back with a factory coupon as well. I didn’t understand it either.

      Delete
    2. Do the items have the line through the label or the inside of the shoe? If so that is not cool. My factory store carries retail items now but often they are flawed, stained etc. Last time I was in I tried on a few pairs of Madewell jeans and most had giant holes in the seams or seemed to be sized incorrectly. I would inspect your items very carefully. Also you are paying the retail price for these items and if purchased in the factory store the price probably would have been less. My factory store is normally 50% off sale and sometimes even 60% off. Hopefully this isn’t the new norm. Makes me very leery to buy a pop back.

      Delete
    3. The shoes are in perfect condition, no black lines through the soles, thank goodness.

      Delete
    4. @Anne that is good to hear.

    5. @Anne, that's disturbing. It hasn't happened to me so far and I'll be upset if it does since I always return to my local store.

      Delete
    6. Today I saw some crewcuts items online that I feel certain are factory items but there was no mention of that. A couple of tees were available that I bought my son from factory recently. If they were from factory but I purchased them online from the retail site I’d be mad when they arrived.

      Delete
    7. I was the one who had problems returning the very old pants! I returned them to a retail store where I was mistakenly told it was factory. The manager said they would be sending it to a factory warehouse (“because a retail store can’t sell that.”)

  28. Weird popbacks are in-store as well - the Blurred Ikat silk skirt from 2015 was sitting on the sale rack at the Eaton Centre yesterday. I almost bought it, but realized it would cost less to have mine altered to fit - it was not a great bargain ($63) considering it’s a three-year-old piece. Size 6 if anybody’s looking.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I think stores sometimes keep online purchases that are returned to their store, so that's probably where they get the odd popback items.

      Delete
  29. Some crazy popbacks this morning, definitely! I took a chance on a few items I know will fit. Happy for the extra % but I’m always a bit skeptical til they arrive.

I’m a bit under the weather this weekend and spent last night on the couch. I came upon the treasure trove of J Crew catalog images on Tumblr and proceeded to work my way through all of 2006-2008. The JCAs who were around for those days know the joy of wanting everything!

It was interesting to view it all at once, as a whole. Athleisure and other trends have really changed one’s fashion “eye” but very little of it looks dated to me. A little, not much, though some may disagree. Mostly I think the clothes and the styling look bright, joyful, feminine and polished. I have a harder time finding that at J Crew today - a piece here and there. And I’m not even talking about quality fabric and construction, because I think that has generally tanked everywhere.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @ruffles - I have been doing something similar but with images on Pinterest. I agree - the 2006-08 styling still looks very fresh and polished. I love all the use of color. I wish I'd gotten a yellow wool pencil skirt and more of the long cardigans! The dresses are all so lovely! The catalog images are giving me some good inspiration at least to work with what I have.

      Delete
    2. I still own quite a few J.Crew items from a decade ago, so I obviously think they still look good. Just a few of the items that I own and still love: liberty blue wool oxford jacket, 3 lexington jackets (black, gray, pink azalea), gray wool herringbone bella jacket and 2 sherpa lined vintage fleece hoodies that I've worn a ton (one zip and one pullover). I donated my 2 velvet bellas when I moved a couple years ago and I still regret it, so I'll be holding on to most of my J.Crew oldies for the forseeable future.

      Delete
    3. The good old days, browsing the catalogue was exciting and something I really looked forward to. I still have a number of older items too and long for the quality that we used to find. I don’t understand why Jcrew isn’t trying to recapture some of the magic at least through prints. I’d think they could create some new beautiful ones or even reissue some of the older ones in tasteful pieces. They have an amazing colour library but they don’t seem to be using it to their advantage in what they’re offering.

      Delete
    4. I’d love some argyle cardigans or sweaters. I have an old JC one and it’s getting very threadbare but I just can’t toss without a replacement.

      Delete
    5. Inspect your popbacks carefully! I just received a dirty Jackie. It's faded, shopworn and has a pen mark on the sleeve and no price tag was attached. Really disappointed as this was a color I was stalking for a while.

  30. I placed another order this morning (2 days in a row) as a Liberty of London shirt I've wanted for ages popped back in my size. There goes #NSA, lol.

  31. I had several orders that I had placed before the additional 30% started so I emailed for price adjustments. I got a response that only one of my items was eligible, and only for 20% off since I only had one order with 2 items (most orders were for just one item). So, I guess they can’t even keep up with all these stupid promos?
All of my orders were for sale items so they should have all been eligible. Also, if they were going by the original wording of the promo none of my orders would have eligible since they were sale items. Argh!!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I called to get a PA for a few orders placed last week. The order I placed on the day before the promo began had more than 3 items, so it was allowed. However, it was not allowed on the order with just one item. So before I got my ducks in a row, I read JCrew PA policy on their website. It turns out PAs are only suppose to happen on Full Price merchandise for adjustments made within 7 days. After seeing that, I decided to leave well enough alone and start preparing for the day when they start enforcing their policy.

      Delete
    2. Huh, I had a lot of orders from the sale section that were adjusted no questions asked. They've never enforced the "full price" policy as far as I know. In fact, when I purchase items from sale I keep checking daily for an additional markdown...and some of those have been substantial. I always call, though, I think a personal conversation is more productive.

      Delete
    3. I always call, and I have kept a list of names, extensions and work hours so I can try to reach someone who was really helpful. Sometimes the CS will offer to email the contact info, sometimes I ask.

      Delete
    4. call...it can take over 24hrs to hear back from emails.
better to call and get the paper work (pa) done.
be sure to do the math yourself ahead of call.
I have had to correct CS a few times...

      Delete
    5. PA's on sale items. CS ...should know if they do not allow it you can return items and order again. makes no sense...so I have been give pa's about 90% of the time I have asked.

      Delete
    6. I rarely have an issue getting PAs. I emailed Saturday on two items and got responses yesterday. They usually reiterate the "7 days from shipment date" rule and it's one PA per item - so if it was regular price or sale and hits sale or further sale or an extra % off it's usually fine. I have never been told it's only on FP items. I have been told that you can't get more than one adjustment though which makes sense. They definitely did some funky math on one item - I asked for an adjustment on the New Balance 791 pink sneakers which were $56.99 before the 30% off. The email I received said I'd get just shy of $30 back on my card...um..ok, if you say so. We'll see what my statement says.

  32. @Anne - Wow. Think I can price match your sneakers? :P
