Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    2. They brought back the ribbon button down! One of my favorite buys last year. It goes with so much!

    4. A treat to flip thru this morning, thank you my goddy! Just love J Crew tartans but I feel like I already own and/or have gifted just about everything in this guide. Lots of repeats - but maybe sticking closer to their classics is a good strategy vs. the past few seasons!

    5. if I remember correctly the ribbon button down last year was 'thomas Mason' This time it is the 'Perfect shirt:' please correct me if I am wrong..

    7. Thanks, mygoddy!!! I spy several items I like. The shoes and boots are especially cute. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the roll-out.

    8. Thank you for the pictures! Do you pre-order by calling customer service? I couldn't find a single item I was interested in by the product code search.

    9. Yes, the ribbon shirt last year was Thomas Mason.

  2. Visited yesterday to make a return. Sale section was packed with summer items with no additional % off. If anyone’s looking for the pink houndstooth mini from Fall 2016, it’s still here for $89.99! So much for marking items down appropriately. Anthro looked like they hadn’t received new stock in weeks or even months, it was so empty in there. The sale section was very, very low. Nothing of interest at either full price or sale, so no try-ons for me at either store.
I had better luck in the huge 50% off sale section at Banana Republic. I got a gorgeous pair of block heel sandals in taupe suede that feel like butter. I rushed home to check the website for sizes in the lower style as well (they have 2” and 3” styles) but no luck. I highly recommend these if you find them in your local store. I could have bought a few pairs of pants at a great price but I really don’t need any more pants right now.

    1. thank you for this informative post! I will be going to the mall after to work to do an order pickup for my son and was curious if banana was mostly online. Now I Anthro hasn't changed in the past week, and go in BR :)

  3. Happy to see the two earrings I bought this week reduced in price a bit. One pair was kinda expensive (the mixed material cluster earrings) so it's nice to have a bit of a price reduction.

  4. Some new markdowns online, including the tiered skirt in polka dot tulle (HO577). Now if they had an extra % off sale, I might have bit. It's just the kind of thing I might only wear once or twice (if that!) so really can't justify spending much on it. I bought the gingham ball skirt (and spent major $ to have it hemmed to the right length) and haven't worn it anywhere yet. Had some fun times trying it on in my closet :) Maybe this holiday season.

    1. I saw that skirt too and was contemplating trying it for an event this winter, but I know it would not get worn much. Same with the tie waist skirt in faille. I've been waiting for a better price on the black to try it and now they made it final sale. So, forget that.

    2. I did the same thing with my gingham ball skirt. Hoping I wear next summer.

  5. someone mentioned new balance stuff showing up on the factory site... well, i just saw mercantile stuff on the regular jcrew site... along with madewell making appearances, does this mean they're going to combine everything into one site eventually?

    ReplyDelete

    1. and i just want to add that i don't like that at all... very confusing... it's one thing if they're separate sites but share a cart, but i don't want all of them on each other's sites and i have to be super careful what i'm actually looking at

      Delete
    2. If they were set up like the Gap/ON/BR site (and use your JC card across all of them), I wouldn't mind it, but let's be real...we've seen their handiwork!

Anybody remember when you used to be able to use whatever the retail promo was on the Factory site?

      Delete
    3. That is confusing, I noticed it too!

      Delete
    4. I liked when Factory was on the J. Crew retail site. Once they moved it to its own site, I forgot to check it and I stopped shopping at Factory. That said, I think it's very confusing to mix in Madewell merchandise amongst J. Crew merchandise on the J. Crew retail web site. And regarding the Gap/ON/BR(/Athleta) web site, it's a nice concept and I think it could work for J. Crew/Factory/Madewell, but I have never had a good experience ordering from Gap/ON/BR/Athleta (some of that has to do with using my BR Luxe rewards, but I still have tons of trouble checking out whether I use rewards or not). Their web site never works right for me. Madewell's site works great for me and I love their Insider expedited free shipping. If they merged with J. Crew, I'm sure they'd take that away.

    5. I really like the Gap/ON/BR/Athleta website. I often use rewards and haven't ever had any issues.

  6. I got an email with a picture of 2 puppies as a thank you for placing an order and being a JCrew customer. I honestly believe JCrew has finally completely lost the plot.

  8. This should go under reviews, but it's scrolled down so I hope it's okay I'm putting it here.

I'm trying to make Madewell's Tiered Button Back Top work. It seemed too short (in sleeves too) in my regular size so I'm trying up a size. I think it still needs a cami underneath, but I like it. By the way it looks red on the web site but it's really more of a pretty rust like the name implies. I bought it in the burnished rust color and I'm going to try it in the red plaid too. It's a weird fit, very swingy and roomy, so going up a size is making it more so, but the length is a bit better in the bigger size. I thought the rust color would be great for Thanksgiving, but if I end up liking the plaid too, then I'm not sure which to keep because I definitely don't need two tops in the same distinctive style. Has anyone else tried these, and what did you think?

I bought a pair of the Slim Straight jeans. I'm not sure what wash it is, but by process of elimination I think it must be the Williams Wash. These are great, if you're tired of skinny jeans. They have the new stitched "magic" front pockets that they've done on some of their recent jeans. The rise is perfect at 9 1/2". They remind me a bit of the old Rail Straight jeans, but the rise on these is a bit higher/more modern. They also sell them (online) in a ripped knee version and a dropped hem version (I may try these too).

I tried the Velvet Tulip Hem top. It was not quite right on me. The side vents were kind of awkward and it didn't hang right on me. I almost liked it but something was off.

    1. Thanks, cate. I've had the Slim Straight sitting in my bag for a while. All the reviews I've read have been good. Ema just posted a pic and reviewed them on her IG and they look great on her!

I have not tried the Tiered Button Back. It is a cute top. I especially like the prints, plaid and heart flip.

      Delete
    2. They're pretty stretchy, I forgot to mention. I could possibly have gone down a size but I didn't try them on because I liked the fit on my regular size well enough. I"ll take a look at Ema's review, thanks for mentioning it!

I haven't seen the plaid Tiered Button Back top in person yet but I agree the prints look cute.

      Delete
    3. Cate, I hadn't noticed that top before but many of madewells tops fit me too short as you describe. I think it's cute. Can you wear a button down under it? Sleeve cuffs coming out would look really cute. Depends on your style. I think the rust color looks really versatile. The plaid...depends on the fabric. Of course Madewells online pics are Terrible and it's difficult to see little details.
I'm going to have to try out those jeans too!

      Delete
    4. Suz Has, that is a really good idea, thanks! I will try it. I am a bit frustrated with the length of tops at Madewell lately. I'm not a tall person and shouldn't be having this problem. I get crop tops, but not in colder weather styles, not unless they're meant to be layered, and I think this top is not meant to be layered. If they're this cropped on me, they must be very cropped on taller women.

      Delete
    5. I'm 5'6 but with a long narrow torso and many of Madewell tops are very boxy on me.

  9. Apologize this is OT, but if your shopping adventures include a trip to TJ Maxx this weekend, do check the shoe dept for a big assortment of Frye boots, short and tall styles. I got a pair of $328 cognac low boots for $129.99 and the leather is luscious!

  10. Went to Madewell to return a Sezane jumpsuit and went home with the Eyelet Mockneck Ruffle Top (H2365). Such a pretty top. Tried both XSPP and S.. Fits TTS. But now I’m thinking I should’ve bought the S.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Typo. It’s XS, not XSPP.

    2. Yes, that top is very pretty. Tried it yesterday, but was a bit short on my torso. I could layer with a tank. Will have to sale stalk.

      Delete
    3. I don’t know if it’s a trend or if they (JCrew and Madewell) purposely design their tops short, so you can pair it with their 9’, 10’, 11’ rise jeans, SMH. (Good marketing strategy). I’m short waisted and I find it short on me!

  11. Saturday morning coffee and some steals on Ludlow items on the men's side. Great color blue pant (Martin Greenfield™ for J.Crew Ludlow suit pant in American wool item F9543). Was $459 CDN but today it's $137 CDN. And a dark navy pindot shirt (Ludlow Slim-fit shirt in deep navy microdot item H2964) that was $128 CDN but is now $75 CDN.

Really happy to have got my J.Crew fix in before even showering and leaving the house. The interesting bit is the shirt is back ordered and not shipping till November 13; why discount it if you cannot even get it yet?

  12. Finally decided to browse the sale section this morning since there are some recent markdowns. It is a complete mess. Tons of Factory/Mercantile items showing up in the retail sale section at regular factory prices for me. Items showing as a lower price on the main sale page and then when you click on it the price is higher. I am not sure what they are trying to do but they need to improve the website asap. What is happening is unacceptable for a retailer of this size! Perhaps they are trying to merge Retail, factory and Madewell under one site. Anyway I would like to try the striped Avery heels which were marked down again from $145 to $95 but they are of course final sale and that is too much money for a final sale gamble. So sad that my favorite retailer just continues to disappoint.

    1. Came here to post this as well - why is Mercantile clogging up the sale section?!?

    2. I agree...get the factory items (Reg priced anyway) out of the sale section. who ever is running the show...your running it in to the ground pretty quickly!!!!!

    3. Get both factory and madewell off the retail site. It's too confusing and just plain annoying. I'll shop elsewhere if this keeps up.

  13. Stopped in yesterday and saw a new coat, Daphne in Italian Tweed. Gorgeous, beautiful color. Selling well. 2 ladies at register buying and only 2 left on rack. Came home to see that it comes in petite sizes. Love but too much $$ and not sure if it will be cold enough in Northern California.

  14. I went to the JCrew retail store last night. Some of the sale items are marked higher than they were 6 weeks ago. Also, prices are lower in-store than online (lower if can use your 15% educator discount, I think). The whole sale section is a mess. It is now better to buy stuff at full price with double discounts, rather than wait for sale. Also, by not offering lower prices online one cannot ask for price adjustments with other retailers that might offer the size you are looking for i.e. Nordstrom.

  15. Went in my store today to return some items. Sale section was barely updated. Still mostly sleeveless summer items with some body suits and crop shirts sprinkled in. There were some straggling leopard fur vests in small and medium for $84. No new catalogs on the counter but they did give me one when asked. Next to the counter they had a standing rack with about 8 "new" pieces for women. I was the only one in the store and all of the reps agreed with my expressed disappointment in the brand.

  16. I stopped in to Factory the other day and got to talking to one of the SA's as we were both lamenting the loss of the local retail B&M earlier this year. She said that they (Factory) are supposed to be getting "retail basics" in the store next year, but didn't have many more details. If that's true, WTH? Why are they blurring the line between retail and Factory? Are they going to try to just roll them into one store? I'll let you all know if I hear anything else.

    1. That’s bizarre. It reminds me of a conversation I had with a local SA about one of our stores closing recently. He pointed out our area had had “four stores.” When I raised an eyebrow, he listed our two retail stores, the men’s store and factory. I’ve never really lumped factory in with retail-esp with their quality decline over the last few years... It feels like most of the changes we’re seeing are troubling...I’m still rooting for JC to make it.

  17. Has anyone noticed when searching sale by size on the retail site that factory items show up? Might go along with the idea that things are getting blurred between retail and factory.

  18. I stopped into my store for a return. I ordered the subtle boatneck sweater in both colors and while I love the fabric it is so short that as soon as I lifted my arms, you could see my bra. I was interested in the embellished cable sweater as well but it looks just as short. The store wasn’t very busy but it was close to closing time. Sale wasn’t even worth looking over (though I looked for the heart print lace up flats). I forgot to ask for a new catalog but I’m excited to pick up a few tartan pieces as I donated all mine last year after losing weight.

  19. Please indulge me in this little rant.....it's not just aimed at Loft because J. Crew does it too. So I buy a couple things at Loft. The VERY next morning I get an email for 50% off the things I purchased. The offer is for Online. This makes me very cranky. With all the lamenting over the loss of brick and mortar stores why do they continue to undermine themselves with these types of tactics? I realize they want me to buy more things...but it still just irritates me. Honestly I feel like returning the couple of things I bought and being done with it. The games just make me tired. Ok...I feel better now...hee!

    1. That is happened to me too. Surprisingly, I find that the store is quite helpful and will give me a refund for a discount if one pops up shortly after a purchase. And most of their online promotions end up happening in the store a day or two later.

  20. made my first Everlane purchase, all items price reduced but still more expensive than I normally would buy, but they look like nice pieces. The sneaker boot which seems like a good price and ideal for an upcoming trip, two pairs of black pants, the Japanese tri acetate and Italian wool track pant, and a black wool tunic that looks beautiful but is a medium and might be too big. These pieces would all work well for a long weekend in a European city in late November. I'd pack minimally.

    1. Hi through-these-eyes! We've been discussing for a while as some JCA's are interested in it but haven't really been able to get a straight answer. There is a leopard clutch in one of the new Holiday catalog images, but it is already on the site (item G7996) - and doesn't appear to be the one that was in the NYFW pictures (this one is leopard on one side, leather on the other while the NYFW was leopard on both sides). I'm wondering if they decided not to release it and we're just getting the one that's already on the site. Anybody heard anything differently?

      Delete
    2. Silver_lining That is the one! The leopard on both sides. I snagged the one that is currently on the site, but really want the one that was at fashion week. Hoping it will still be released. I feel that some of the items that were at fashion week, were done just for fashion week (white ruffle shirt for example had exaggerated ruffles in the pictures, but the ruffles on the released version were much smaller) so I am hoping that is not the case and that they do release it.
