This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!

I recently received the no.2 pencil skirt in vibrant floral (G8458) and like it (runs big though imo), but hesitating on keeping it as I'm not sure what to pair it with. So far all I can think of is my gray perfect fit tee. I seriously can not think of a single other top to pair with this skirt. ideas??
ReplyDeleteHi, Julie. I agree with you. I found it runs about half a size too big, but I tried the next size down and it was half a size too small so I went with the bigger size. I think the J Crew "fresh parsley" works well with the green in the skirt and certain shades of pink and red would work well. It's not very original, but I wore my skirt recently with the drapey tank in fresh parsley and Jackie in neon geranium and navy pumps. I also have the Tippi in a similar shade of green that I am going to wear with it. Birdie0819 on her instagram looked great in her skirt which she paired with a black Tippi (at least I think it was black) but I think a navy Tippi would work as well. Looking forward to other JCA's ideas.
DeleteI ordered this as well and agree with Toronto Modern about pairing with a navy Tippi. That was my thought when I ordered it. I was thinking a chambray shirt would also work, as well as the short sleeve popover in Irish linen in the French blue color.
Deletegreat ideas, thanks! I didn't think of black (don't own anything black, but now have a reason to buy something) - but it would tone down the bright floral of the skirt. Pale pink is a good idea too. Skirt didn't look right with my chambray shirt but mine is a darker chambray, I bet lighter would be a good pairing.
DeleteI saw the ruffle sleeve sweater a few places and with the price cut decided to order it in gray and olive, in two sizes. I know it's a blend but, what isn't.
ReplyDeleteAlso decided to try the Embroidered boyfriend chino pant with patches after seeing them worn really slouchy on IG, the way I think they look best. I love the color. The details may be too much for me but we shall see.
Not sure I love the new sale format, with no % off, especially when I know some items were less $ recently.
If you are not opposed to mixing prints, I think a black stripe perfect shirt and black pumps might be fun!
