Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Oooohhhh... I got a "VIP" email this morning for 30% off plus expedited shipping... And I also still had a 20% off code that came with an order a while back. So of course I bit but it was just jeans and the wrap top so nothing overly exciting. Good deal tho.

    1. Just received the email. Sadly there’s nothing I immediately need. Kind of like the lodge coat in red but do I need another coat. It doesn’t get that cold in SF...not even sure if the lodge coat is included in that ‘select items’. Wonder if those select items are the ones marked 20%??

    2. Oh the lodge coat is included.

  2. Anyone own the Daphne coat and can comment on how it’s holding up? How did it hold up after a few wears?

    1. I wore mine to a wedding this weekend and it was great. Polished enough to work with a nice dress, packs well, and very comfortable.

  3. Okay they’ve rolled out their shoes. Not impressed.
Glitter Mary Janes (why add the stones??), Embroidered MJ’s, Velvet Slip-On, some booties....

    3. Wow, those shoes are really sad. Seem really low end. Zara's sister company Bershka has opened their website to the US. I expect it there but not JC.

    4. Nothing lust-worthy at all! Okay, the yellow embroidered flats are pretty cute. But nothing that tempts me, which is a first. I’ll save lots of time *not* stalking shoes this season.

    5. All new arrival shoes are Made in China, not Italy. Lots of cheap fabric and suede styles, less real leather. The downward race to become Gap continues.

    6. But the prices remain high for the "imported shoes". So sad that they can't see to get it right.

  5. I was just on the website... and for the life of me, cannot get past the unkempt, unhappy, models that look like 5 year olds dressed them. I guess I'm just a very visually oriented person. The type who had tabs on almost every page of the
    J. Crew catalogs in high school. And stared for hours at the outfits in the 2007 year catalogs.

Sorry J.Crew,This is not what I aspire to look like in the fall... https://www.jcrew.com/p/womens_category/shirtsandtops/casualshirts/striped-shortsleeve-buttonup-shirt/G7496?color_name=chambray-stripe

And this is a joke right? https://www.jcrew.com/p/G5178

And this is a ... A shirt with a broken arm sling built in?https://www.jcrew.com/p/G8417

I heard the Shop Rite "can can" song in my mind... https://www.jcrew.com/p/G5625

I guess I should have another cup of coffee. Maybe I could make some more sense of this.

    1. My mom would say things like "Those women look like they are about to clean their garage, not like fashion models"
It truly applies. Even when Jenna was there a lot of the models stood pigeon toed and I wasn't sure what that was about.

  6. OT: Anthro has 25% off today to celebrate their 25th BD. I love their shoes, accessories and home items. Clothes not so much, at least not those pieces that I can afford.

  7. Pricing games at Factory making me not want to pull the trigger. Extra 25% off if you spend $125 (usually off $100) but of course prices higher than they were yesterday. I need a pair of Cabernet pants and they have two styles I want to try along with the new floral print pants that were released with the rollout. Guess I will order and then wait for the inevitable price drop and reorder and return.

    1. It makes me crazy. I also had a "fight" with CS over an item in the new rollout (printed Winnie pants that I think were actually a leftover from a few years ago) that was not 40% and had no "Your Price," and they would not adjust the price. A few hours later I got an email from a manager that I was indeed correct. Too bad they were already sold out...

    1. I am a cardholder and did not receive this offer.

      Delete
    2. Not sure how they determine who gets it. I don't shop much there, perhaps they are trying to lure me back. Now only if it worked. I dislike calling CS to do this. Such a time sink.

    3. Hi CR DSa - there are a lot of exclusions on this offer.

*.Not valid on all sale, clearance, Garments for Good, Madewell styles and everyday cashmere; all women's boots, leopard calf hair footwear, capes, sweater-blazers and demi-fine jewelry; all men's blazers and suits; select women's Collection, outerwear, pants and shoes; select men's coats, knits and Wallace & Barnes items; select crewcuts and third-party branded items.

Also, sometimes if you're copying and pasting a code directly from an e-mail, there's a space added when you paste it in. Try making sure there are no spaces before or after the promo code.

    4. Hi silver lining, yeah it worked. It was the calf hair shoes. I removed them and got the tuxedo pants and black wool skirt. I bundled the 15% coupon with it and got a good deal. Wanted the black ruffle shirt but in store the tag said 100% poly.

  9. I have some returns but don't think I will get there, however I'm so tempted to get the long faiille skirt after seeing it on IG on Jcrewmyjcrew. She is wearing the guava which is on sale for a great price. I would want the black which is a little pricey for my needs but it is a nice material.

  10. I got the code for 30% off but won't be using it. Let me know if you didn't get it and want one, or if you want to buy more :)

I was feeling nostalgic and tried to thing when the last time I really loved JC. Found this online- now I realize that not many people like this look and in the article Jenna mentions just that. I happen to like this type of styling - a bit of wacky or unexpected. It was JC that taught us that sweatshirts with a sequin skirt was cool! Again, not everyone's style but I miss this. These models are really styled and look fashionable. Sigh

    1. Yup that’s with Marissa Webb as head designer. Good quality, all shoes made in Italy....prints are gorgeous, the little special details. *sigh*

    2. Incredible! Inspiring! Yeah so a lot of it is a bit over the top but many of the base pieces are staples, and then more funky pieces are layered in, lovely. I sent that to my daughter in art school. This is the type of style I'd see around NYC when I was in school (likely the same time as Jenna) and although it is a bit over the top for me, I'd take a few elements from that to make it suit my slightly more minimalistic style.

    7. That pink print is gorgeous! It's over scale for a little girls dress in my opinion and should have been used on a women's garment. I'd even consider something made in that print and I usually don't go for pink, but I really miss the Crews gorgeous prints of the past.

    8. You'd think that despite the fact that they can't design their way out of a paper bag right now, someone at J Crew might recognize that bringing back some of the glorious old prints might be at least as good an idea as the rollneck sweater ...

      Delete
    9. But they bring back the San Remo print from '08 and then add a ruffled bib to an already busy print (G8266)...they just can't help themselves!

      Delete
    10. JSR, agree that's a pretty print. Would make a lovely top (sans ruffles) for women. I'm sad with the direction that JCrew is taking. This reminds me of the downfall of BR.

      Delete
    11. They really should do a small special collection of some of the best classics... No weird changes like adding ruffles but literally remake some of those really great pieces in beautiful colors and patterns. label it "a celebration of JCrew" or something... I bet it'll sell like hotcakes

    12. Like Anthro did an Archival collection a couple years ago. That stuff was sold out in hours.

  12. Nothing for me this rollout. I managed to snag the Mens-y cardigan on popback and it arrived, I love it! That is my only J Crew purchase for myself in the last 4 months! I am eyeing a couple of the button downs from the last rollout, but of course the Day02 code didn't work on them. I feel sad overall, I feel J Crew has lost its preppy. I miss the color, the Italian shoes, the nipped in waists and the lovely printed silks. I hope we see them again sometime soon. I am honestly appalled that the company has such a wealth of (free) information in this blog and chooses to not use it. All the while, the men's stuff continues to be good quality and has interesting, on-brand designs. I'm at a loss here.

  15. Went to the mall yesterday to buy some skincare and stopped in the Crew. Why is it my eyes just glaze over now when I'm in the store? Anyway, what's with cotton tops with rick rack on them....in October? My store had a lot of things that didn't seem like anything I'd wear in the fall. One thing I did notice....the entire front display area was done in menswear. I think that is the first time I've seen it strictly menswear. Maybe men are still buying...I know I'm not seeing one thing I want. And that bugs me! But I also stopped in Ann Taylor because the entire store was 50% off...yah, now that's a sale....and I tried a few things, but they were still not clothing I would consider classic lasting styles. I left empty handed. I'd want something new!!!!

    1. Stray Cat Really don't know why, but it would appear that the men's side remains stronger. It is due to men still buying or that the men's offerings are just better or better perceived? It would be good to see the sales numbers for each side and how they are performing.

I still find things I like and want and find value in. For the most part it's still the 'crew I love.

    2. I think it’s that for menswear there are fewer trends to chase, so they can just focus on quality classics, while keeping up with subtle trends like pant leg width, length, etc., and seasonal colors. So if you bought last year’s “must have” colour in cashmere, this year you can still buy this year’s colour. Meanwhile, the women’s side chases every trend and winds up cutting quality and choice on the classics to make up for what must be marginal profits on the trendy stuff. Looking at my purchases in the last year, it was updated classics: Sammies, Teddies, Billies, Maddies, pencil skirts, blazers, a few scarves and necklaces, and a pair of to-die-for Drake shoes (a huge splurge but worth it). No ruffles, no OTS, no cold shoulder, no bell sleeves. It’s not that I never buy or at least admire some trends, but I buy classics in far more volume.

    1. Ridiculous!! I’ve had my eye on it and it went on sale and sold out so I thought I missed the boat. Now there’s a full size run but backordered until February... even though this was an early fall rollout item. Seems to me they underestimated demand and their vendor turnaround time is very long.

  17. lacking the right word...I would just says J Crews four days of sale was "dumb" I didn't order anything. If this is the new strategy ...I will just make do with what I have from last year. this is not such a bad thing...really. I am just saving alot of $$.

  19. I'm not so sure that this new sales strategy is working. There are over 1400 items in the women's sale section at 1 PM Eastern on a Sunday which is typically a time that has very low numbers. The only things I've purchased recently have been new items for fall with discount coupons and rewards.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yep, same for me on fall and I've only purchased sale items where I had a stackable coupon I could use with another promo/discount. Online has languishing sale & it's an eyesore in the stores.

  20. Hi has anyone bought the collection motorcycle jacket - the Copley Boston store has them and they are not cheap - but the wild weed is outstanding and wondering if any JCA's have bought one? Wear and tear - worth an investment piece or not.....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have the ash and cassis colors. I think the jacket is worth the investment. Leather and details are well done. I took the ash jacket on my trip to Paris and it's a great neutral. I think the wild weed would be a lovely color and lots of pairing options. The ash has worn really well. I've worn the jacket at least 6 or 7 times for extended periods. I bought cassis color this summer, so haven't had a chance to wear; quality and details are same as ash. So, don't have any concerns. Good luck with whatever you decide.
