    1. Yup. Can't add anything to my cart from either quick shop or the item page, can't log in to try to add it from my wishlist.

    2. Wish I still didn't have random people's items in my cart always....makes me not want to order from J Crew because of what seems to be potential security issues...

    3. Last time I went in to return something a total stranger's name and email came up at the top of my receipt...but my cc info was at the bottom for refund purposes. This has to be a privacy law violation of some sort. I did get the refund on my card but it makes me uneasy about their security.

  2. Madewell has extra 30% off sale items, through the 23rd.

  3. I feel if something's in the clearance/sale section, it should be like 50% off or more. I saw a blazer for 5% off. That's really not much of a sale.

    1. Yeah, it used to be nice when something would go on a $5 promo and you could use the additional % off sale on it, but if they're not going to do that anymore (what's the over/under on how long that's going to last?) then they should just keep that stuff out of the sale section. Or remove the red "x% off" text - nobody's going, "5% off? What a deal!"

    2. I feel exactly the same way. I'm still kind of hoping day 3 or day 4 of the surprise sales this week has some type of 30-40% off the sale/clearance section this week.

  4. The red %off tag is so tacky. Aspirational brands do not have that. I wonder how long until a JCA finds the sale item tagged 1% off.

    1. "aspirational brands don't do that."

Eeps, this is such an important insight. J Crew has forfeited their aspirational status w nearly every decision they have made in the past few years.

    2. Yes, it really is, eeps. Price conscious consumerism need not translate to tacky marketing, but here, it does.

  5. today's extra note on the sale items - "savings applied - no extra code needed" Yes, we know. No need to rub it in our face. If you're going to do that, don't advertise on the product page that the item is indeed 20% off. Again - the main product pages show sale items and the 20% advertised discount but when you go to the sale page...nothing.

  6. horrible new releases, insignificant promos, tacky advertising, I'm really disappointed lately, as J crew has always been a favorite store. I did like and purchase some items from late summer/early fall when they hit sale, but now there isn't anything at all. Where are all the great colors J crew used to offer? Was Jenna the reason for all the beautiful and bold colors? Now everything is grey, navy, black, tan, and pink. :(

    1. Old J.Crew video - Color Crazy

    2. I miss the colors, too. The jewel tones in the fall season. The way they match the colors of the outfits, and how they paired it; so beautiful.

    3. That video was nice, thanks for sharing JSR ...it's a shame we don't get that kind of color and look any longer

    4. There is currently an ad up on their FB page about having 40 custom-created colors--and a pic of models in primary yellow, royal blue, and primary orange coats. Didn't seem so innovative to me.

    5. Nice video - thanks for sharing

    6. Wow, amazing video, the kind that makes you believe in a brand! Now compare that to the "hack" video where they wrapped a scarf around their neck and then bit a croissant.

    7. Thank you JSR. That video had heart. While I still find a few things to like here and there, I am already missing J Crew.

  7. There are a few highlights in the recent roll outs but if I see one more ruffle on anything I am going to hurl. Really hoping for some magic with holiday clothes - like the old J Crew - WOOL tartans, velvet, tweed with a twist. But not holding my breath. I am saving a lot of money this season.

    1. Agree! STOP RUFFLES NOW!

    2. Please also stop ots and cold shoulder. Especially for the fall/winter. It makes zero sense.

      Delete
    3. Still haven't bought a cold-shoulder top. Now that it's October, I'm not about to start, especially one crafted from cotton poplin. Truly, what sort of release schedule is that?

  8. Yesterday I received the blue gingham coat- Really darling! However, I am 5'2" and it isn't cut for a short person. Altering it to make it work would be costly so it is going back. Too bad, it is a cute coat! Would recommend for a taller person.

  9. OT: New arrivals at Factory, including the pink faux fur coat (in womens and girls) that was at retail last year.

    ReplyDelete
  10. OT but there are Factory new arrivals today. I dare say they have a better selection of fall items. They redid one of the floral collection prints from a few years ago that I'm blanking on the name (black with a lighter pink floral) and there's a navy bow front coat that's a reprise of the maroon/pink one from a few years ago.

And of course there are OTS/cold shoulder/bell sleeve items there too. They seem hard to escape at many retailers right now.

  12. The silk tie-shoulder peplum top popped back and was on clearance/final sale for $1 or 98% off earlier this morning. What's with all the crazy pricing and website glitches!

  14. FYI, you can only bundle up the 15% off coupon (sent via email if you completed the online survey) or 20% (occasionally sent with your online purchase package) with the 30% discount in store for full price items only. The SA did not allow me to use for sale price items. This new policy is quite frustrating.

  15. I am disappointed in the changes made to sale....

  16. Sad that the velvet Averys are not made in Italy.

On the hopeful side of things, I grabbed the gold velvet skirt on a very random popback check, and am thinking it will get a lot of wear. It was more expensive than previously, but if it works out it'll still be worth it.

  17. Day 3- Sweaters at 30%, the regular Harlow and the velvet trim ones are on the sale page but the star one is excluded. Grr.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I know, right? Why did they even bother? Not many sweaters are actually included in the 30% off. :(

    2. This has been one of the strangest multi-day "sales" I've seen at JC. Why offer 20% on the first day and then 30% on subsequent days? What if you bought a sweater at 20% off on Monday that's now 30% off? Are people calling for price adjustments? Why do so many item pages show 20% that then doesn't apply in the cart? Why have free shipping for cardmembers be a code (CARDPERK) so then you can't also use a % off? Is anybody even shopping this "sale"?

      *crickets*

      Delete
    3. The free shipping for cardmembers cannot be combined with a standard price promo? Not a cardholder, but that is absurd indeed.

    4. I’ve only been shopping at j crew the last 4 years. My biggest gripe has been the lack of evolution of their offerings in this time frame. They tend to re-release the same things over and over again and it’s been a turn off. Although it’s a decent sweater, I don’t need 30 Tippis. I’ve also made quite a few mistakes in keeping items that simply weren’t worth what I paid because of quality. But depending on what happens this holiday season, I may have to call it quits. I rather source great pieces from all over if J crew is becoming abysmal like the Gap. But I am really hoping for a couple of cute dresses with sleeves, and some nice blouses with sleeves. And of course a nice pajama.

    5. I have removed JCrew from my bookmarks for now. This whole day01, Day02, day03 sale is just absurd and makes me feel dumb.
