  1. Received the Going Places Dress in Dalmatian Tweed (G9442) - love the dress! Color is a soft white with black specks. The style is classic-think female lead in a 50’s Hitchcock movie. Edith Head would be proud.
Ordered a 4, Fit and length is fine, except a tad roomy around my hips, which is always a problem with regular size bottoms and dresses-that’s why I always go petite, which jcrew didn’t make. Going down to a size 2 would be a little snug around my mid-section.
Now the bad part — it’s made of acrylic/nylon w/ polyester lining. Ugh. What a shame. Triple fail. Hehe

Sad that this dress is not made of wool. Thinking of keeping it but for $100+, and dry clean only..not worth it.
Anyone own an acrylic top or bottom, and would like to comment on its quality, durability?

    1. That makes me sad. It's a beautiful dress, one of the few things JC is doing these days that caught my eye. It's def. going to need dry cleaning after each wear....I have a similar dress and the armpits always smell after one wear (sorry to be blunt, I'm not even much of a sweater).

    2. Thanks Lori. I can’t justify paying for the price, even if it’s down to $50 bucks, I still have to spend money to dry clean cheap fabric. No thanks. I hope in the near future they’ll consider making it in wool.

    3. I'm going to admit something - for non-wool dresses, even those that are lines, I sometimes machine wash them on the hand-wash cycle in my front-loading washer.

I would say about 95% of the time, all is well, and every once in a while, I completely destroy the item.

Look at the tag carefully - does it say "dry clean only" or "dry clean"?

My experience says that "dry clean only" really are exactly that, but items marked "dry clean" can often do fine being very gently washed (and hung to dry - no dryer!).

    4. Sorry, that should have said "even those that are LINED".

    5. I always dryell any poly-blend clothes in between wears and have to dry-clean after 2-wears. Agree with above (re:smell).

    6. Thanks ladies for the care tips! I had to check for myself just how common unnatural fibers are used in the fashion industry. Similar price points from: Philip Lim, Sandro, Maje, even high end Stella McCartney.

    7. That’s the truth now! All retailers have blends and it won’t say in the description online. You have to buy the clothes and see for yourself. That’s what drives me crazy.

  2. My gingham car coat arrived and I was worried based on some other recent reviews that it would not work for me. But I love it. I am 5'3 and I don't like the way petite coats fit me. I ordered a 000 and it fits well. I would love it an inch shorter but I will probably live with it. It is fully lined. The color is more vibrant and deep than in the photos. The coat is also a little thicker than I thought too. It will be a good coat to wear now. I won't wear it Jan/Feb but I can wear it until then and then in spring. I bought this with a few discounts so it was a very good deal. I am pleasantly surprised.

  3. Madewell sale alert: the beloved time off tank is available in ivory and black in many sizes. I bought it over the summer in black and ivory/red stripe and probably wore it a dozen times. I love the higher neckline. For $10 and change it's a great piece for those who wear sleeveless. (Hard to tell from the crappy online pics but the knit is a nice weight, not a fine rib or too thin.) I hand wash and air dry,

  4. I miss J.Crew’s wool pants, like the wide leg patio, or their slim cut version. Would love it in a deep royal blue color, with a crisp white shirt, and camel leather loafersđź’™.
The four season pants is made of poly, ugh. No thanks.

Every pants this season is chino?? They didn’t make a lot of wool pants like they used to.

    1. I'm curious how many offices allow chinos. Mine does not. Their selection is very frustrating.

    2. Agree! Sad no 100% wool pants this year.

    3. Oh no, JSR you just convinced me I need some camel leather loafers. :D

    4. Julie-Everlane makes it in their Modern Loafer.

    5. Agree with JSR about the Everlane Loafers. I have the burgundy color and they are fabulous! Definitely order up 1/2 size. The Madewell Elinor loafers are great too but prob not dressy enough for wool pants. Cole Haan also makes some great, comfortable Loafers. I have a pair of black penny loafers from them from several years ago and they are prob the most comfortable shoes I own (besides sneakers).

    6. I love my Everlane modern loafers. Very comfortable. Considering more Everlane shoes. Especially if the Crew does not step up the shoe game.

  5. Does any of the ladies have a problem with Everlane CS? I wanted to return a pair of pants a few months ago but it wasn’t as easy as other retailers. I am happy they are partnering with Nordstrom.

    1. No problem with my return. Had a pair of Chelsea that I haven’t worn, this type didn’t work out for me so I returned it (shipped back to warehouse) 4 or more months from when I purchased it. Haha! And they accepted it. I was fine w a store credit.

    2. Oh that good to know. Probably it was just a one time thing. I was looking at their wool pants...might give them a try. Thanks for replying.

    3. I just returned two things. No issue at all. But I always keep an eye out on the tracking of the return package and give them a few days to process it. If it's about a week and I still haven't heard from them, I contact them. I did this this time and they apologized for the delay and immediately proceeded the return.

    4. Only things I've ever ordered were their wool pants. I liked the fit (slightly cropped, so they're regular length on a petite person like me) but I found the wool incredibly itchy on my legs. So itchy that I had to return both.

    5. Good to know about the itchiness, eeps. I too have a similar problem at time with wool. I ordered the wool pants through Nordis. Fingers crossed.

  6. I’ve been new to Everlane recently and purchased several pairs of their shoes. Excellent quality and comfortable. I have a narrow heel but had to size up a half size. Also purchased a couple of their shirts Oxford cloth beautiful quality as well. Tried one of their leather totes because of a foul smell, don’t know whether it was they way they treated the leather however I returned this item. One more item they recently released is their Go Weave blazer. Fabulous!! Wrinkle-free to boot and it’s a very light weight wool. Fabric feels very expensive. I purchased everything through Nordstrom. Delivery was very swift within 3 days. Lastly, Everlane’s own website offers a 10% discount for signing up for emails.

    1. I've purchased several Everlane tops and was very impressed. Beautiful natural fabrics and a business model I can get behind. I've found the quality holds up after wear and laundering. I wish they had more colors and prints, but even J Crew isn't doing those like they used to.
