Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Macy's has some very good deals on cashmere. Their Charter Club line has some cute styles. I have no idea about the quality, but could it be any worse than much of what JC has these days?

  2. @MmeJacqueline, thank you. I just viewed the plaid cashmere button front cardigan. Looks quite nice with fairly nice looking buttons. I may order one, they must be selling fast. Price point is good. I have no idea about the quality and I’m thinking it may be even be better than JC’s cashmere of late. I had read on business new website that Macy’s overall has the best pricing at the moment. No shipping delays either. They’ve chartered planes and smaller ships to get their merchandise into small ports.

    1. That's pretty impressive about Macy's! Good for them. They will be ahead of the game. I'm no longer dealing with Nordstrom because I had a problem with every item I returned by mail using their label. It took forever, and I never got any updates at all. I would have to call and then wait to receive an email from someone to tell me I had received the credit due to me. That was usually about two days after I called. The closest Nordstrom is about 4 hours away, so that isn't an option.

I've had pretty good service from Bloomingdale's, and I think they are owned by Macy's.

    2. @MmeJacqueline, here’s shipping tip for shopping through these retailers. There are many others as well. I use ShopRunner free with Amex and receive 2 day shipping

  3. Apologize for the typos. @MmeJacqueline, is it you who put the review up regarding JC’s Lady Jacket? I was thinking of ordering one. In black. Do you really like it? Thank you.

    1. Lynn: Yes, I did review the Lady Jacket. I got it in both black and ivory. It's not "relaxed" and "oversized." It's the one that's lined--not boiled wool. It has buttons rather than snaps.

I think one reviewer didn't like the buttons, but I'm okay with them. The only slight negative is that I wish they were crew neck rather than scooped.

Right now that's one of the very few things I've been happy with from J.Crew since the new designer took over.

  4. Has anyone tried the high-rise '90s classic straight jeans? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

    1. Jeanne: The ones I purchased were BA665 in Resin Rinse. Are those the ones you're looking at? They are excluded from the promo and are $138.

If those are the ones, I kept them. I had ordered both a 23 and 24, and kept the size 23. I have size 24 from Madewell, but everything is so inconsistent these days. That's why I just cannot do final sale.

I was happy with the dark rinse, and these are heavier than other jeans I have so better for cooler weather. The high rise was good for me. I'm 5'3", and I got the classic rather than petite, which was the right length.

There is another version in the sale section that says "full length," which was 30" in the classic size. It's a lighter rinse. I did not try that one if that's the pair you're looking at.

    2. Jeanne, I love these jeans. My favorite ones! Right weight and stretch, comfortable. It has not lost its shape. I got my usual size 28. I got both the regular and tall version. ( inseam 29"). I prefer the tall.

    3. @ MmeJacqueline - I’m hoping they will work for me because I prefer a high waist. They seem to fit me much better than lower rise jeans. I love the dark wash that you have, but I ordered a lighter wash that was on the Cyber Monday sale. I didn’t even look at the clearance jeans because they’re all final sale.

@Black Hydrangea - That’s good to hear. I also ordered the tall version, which I hope will be normal length jeans on me.

  5. Rakuten has 15% cash back for Factory today. J. Crew is still only 1%, though. Boo.

  7. Speaking of Macys, above…
My mom has really wanted velvet blazers but wasn’t sure of her JCrew size and has no store nearby. I saw INC velvet blazers online and she ended up buying forest green and black. They are a stretchy poly velvet and less structured than a typical Jcrew blazer but she is 76, shattered her shoulder a few years ago and has mobility issues, so the softer fabric is probably better anyway.
The blazers were only about $30, fit well and she was comfortable.
