Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Those of you that purchased sale items yesterday will be happy to see that their is now an additional 50% off with ‘SALEUPGRADE’! Also, the retailmenot code (dbc256517209194) is still working.

  2. There are a few new items from the next rollout on the site now if you search by item type.

  3. CARDLOVE stacks with today’s SALEUPGRADE but apparently you can only use two transactional codes at a time. Get those price adjustment emails ready! I placed a couple of gamble orders yesterday with the hopes of a deeper discount on the horizon, so this morning is like my Olympics. Now to see if/when everything ships!

  5. Nothing in my last order worked out. I don't want to drive to a store, but I don't want to pay $7.50 to return. I guess I didn't realize they charged for returns, since so many companies don't (I think even Madewell is free returns for Insiders) and since I've always just driven to the store (closest one closed though). I think this is the end for me and J. Crew. Nothing I buy there is worth the drive or the $7.50 to return (I try to only order from companies with a free returns policy). I guess I might go to a store to do this return, ugh.

I got an email today about VIP access on new arrivals. Are there new arrivals? It seems like the new arrivals on the web site never match up with the new arrivals emails.

    1. cate - you might want to consider ordering using PayPal. PayPal refunds return shipping costs if you purchased using PayPal. This covers merchant imposed costs or if you ship back yourself and pay postage. There are limits in terms of how many times a year and how much per claim. I've claimed from them before and it's super easy.

    4. Toronto Modern, wow I had no idea about that, thank you! I don't much care about my J. Crew rewards because I don't order enough to accrue any significant amount, so I think PayPal is a great way to go. Do I have to request the reimbursement for return shipping charges or is it automatic?

shopgrrrl, sorry you got burned with the 30 day time limit. Thanks for telling me about it though.

      Delete
    5. @shopgrrrl, thank you so much for the 30 day info. I had no idea but am hoping to try PayPal if I need a return, I’ve been paying that way lately in case.

      Delete
    6. Hi, Ladies

I am not sure if there are different terms and conditions for US vs Canada from PayPal but the 30 day claim is (at least for Canada), 30 days from the date you ship it back. So I buy something from J Crew on May 1 and I have 60 days (or something like that to return it), and I ship it back June 15, then I have 30 days from June 15 as the PayPal deadline, not 30 days from May 1. At least that's been my experience.

PayPal FAQs will probably cover this if you google "PayPal shipping refund" or terms like that.

Cate - it is not automatic. You do have to ask PayPal for the refund. But I am technologically challenged - I can barely post on JCA as it is - and the process was very easy and I had no problems asking for and getting the refund

It sounds very morbid of me but I've started using PayPal for all my J Crew purchases because they have been closing so many stores. They closed the two stores I used to frequent the most, but I still have a store I can schlep to, but I'm concerned about the possibility of them closing the store suddenly. So I pay with PayPal for all my (many) J Crew orders

    7. ...runs to laptop to check dates.....

    8. Sigh….still too late. But thanks, TorontoModern, for clarifying this. I just read the FAQ and didn’t start a claim, so I misunderstood the 30-day limit. Sorry for spreading incorrect info. Had I actually started a claim, I would have seen they provide a calendar going back 30-days from the day you’re submitting the claim, not the date of purchase. Now I feel even worse about the $25 return shipping charge. I was kicking myself for procrastinating, but now I realize I should have just read more carefully!

  7. Emailed for price adjustments this morning - both of my orders from yesterday have shipped already. Purchased the eco denim jacket this morning as well. I think I'm good - traveling next week and will be in NYC so would like to put my shopping dollars towards visiting stores I don't usually get to visit in person.

On another note, my Everlane cheeky straight jeans arrived yesterday. I'm usually a 29 in J.Crew jeans / 28 in some boyfriend and a 29 or 30 in designer denim. I ordered the 29 and 30 in these in sky blue. Unfortunately the color is a little too light blue for me - not as naturally faded as the C/E ones I have from RTR - not quite sure how to describe it - the C/E ones on the whiter side vs the Everlane ones which seem more of a baby blue. The rise is high and the 30s barely zipped. They looked ok aside from the pockets pulling. They were straight but loose through the leg and hit above the ankle. I didn't feel good in them so they are unfortunately going back. They are 98% cotton 2% elastane so if you like less stretch they are a good find. I think I'm just used to stretchy jeans! I am thinking I may just keep the Current Elliott ones even though I'd like them a little higher in the rise, they are a perfect fit.

  11. There were a few things I was waiting to pull the trigger on and the 50 off sale made me do it. Denim trench and a white cotton linen popover, plus some footwear I def don’t need.
Luckily only the Nordic boots are FS but I love mine and know my Boston daughter will get use out of them too.
I stopped myself from looking at anything aside from shirts, jackets, shoes and accessories.

  12. @Suz, How is the fit on the Nordic Boots? Do they run true to size for you?

    1. I am an 8.5/9 depending on the cut and I got the 9 and they’re perfect. I typically wear them without socks. I’ve been wearing them to softball games for hours at a time and other people wearing uggs and other warm boots have complained about their feet being cold while mine are toasty warm. I also wear them to walk a few blocks to a class and find them very comfortable.

      Delete
    2. I'll chime in too - I'm usually a 9/9.5 and have the 9 in these and they were snug the first few wears but they've adjusted to my foot and I really loved them for cold days this year. I got them for a great deal last year and am happy I have them.

      Delete
    3. Lynn - I usually wear 5.5 or 6. I went with 6 because that's what was available. (Not sure whether they even made them in 5.5.) The 6 have been just fine - maybe because they lace up and also because they are winter boots and I always wear socks. I stockpiled when they were heavily discounted thinking that I'd go through a pair a year or so, but the original pair is wearing well with two years of wear so far (and more on the horizon) so I have not even had to dip into my "inventory".

  13. I placed 4, yes 4 (sigh), orders yesterday, using only the retailmenot code for 15% off. Snagged a few good popbacks. What are my chances of getting the adjustment today for the sale promo? I did email customer service this morning.

    1. @jbird - I emailed customer service with my order numbers from yesterday and requested a price adjustment using the SALEUPGRADE code. Like you, I used the retailmenot code yesterday as the prices were pretty good on the popbacks I ordered. However, an extra 50 off will make them practically free!

      Delete
    2. @shopalot- I agree, the prices were not bad overall, but not as good as the prices around Christmas. Hopefully, CS will take pity on me! I like when things are close to free :-D

  15. I was up at 3 am and when my partner saw my phone light, told him that it was ON. He knows about JCA and our crew insanity, and in return for his unquestioning love, I picked up a pair of Timberlands from $175 for $40.79 for him.
For myself I am thrilled to have gotten the leopard studded flats that disappeared during The Great Liquidation Hoax. With the extra 15%, they were less than I'd ever seen previously.
Also purchased the Harlow ankle strap pumps in plaid with glitter heel, the Stewart plaid block heel pumps, the camel Sadie boots (PLEASE let these ship for $15.29), and the new vintage straight white jean with button fly as I don't think they'll go cheaper anytime before July.
    Very happy berry this morning!

    1. @Cheritheberry, I ordered the Ryan penny loafers in silver metallic as I'm a sucker for metallic shoes. I ordered two sizes; I needed the 8 in the gold Academy loafers but never tried the Ryans so I got 8 and 8.5. Those leopard studded flats are so cool. I hope all of our bargains ship. One of the orders I placed yesterday has already shipped, which is like a J Crew miracle to me.

    2. @Shopalot ooooh I was looking at those but didn't know what to do with sizing and abandoned them for the next shiny thing hahaha! Maybe I will revisit them.
I just said to Suz that all I want is shipping notifications!
Sure is a J. Crew miracle. I'm hoping since we all ordered so early we are all left pleased!

    3. Still debating those shoes...wonder if there are any left...there are 5 in my size, I'd have to decide soon.

I did order three shoes (shame!) But the light tan Nordic boots for $15 that match my faux-shearling coat? Had to. Eagerly waiting on a shipping notice .And the d'Orsay pumps with berries printed on for $30? Too cute not to try. Plus burgundy/dark pink suede pumps up a 1/2 size at $25, another cross my fingers. My husband said I should take the empty closet and make it a shoe closet!

  18. I ordered a popback of my favorite jeans yesterday (two sizes smaller-only size they had), and the Sperry Shearwater boots in dark gray last night after the extra 50% showed up. I have these boots in cream, purchased around this time last year, and have loved them. I didn't 'need' them, but reasoned the extra 50% off I'll get on the jeans almost covered them (ha!). They are perfect for popping on on cold, rainy days, and are comfortable to walk in. They net $50 if you are a cardholder.

  19. Reporting back on one item I ordered last week. The SLEEVELESS OPEN V-NECK TOP X-SMALL / BLACK
it is slightly sheer but with a black bralette it will be fine. I like the cut of the arms and don’t find the armholes big at all. The v is somewhat low but even with a higher sports bra I’m wearing now, it isn’t too noticeable, so a lower cut one will work well.
It’s easy on and go and hopefully it will stay cool over the summer since the material is lightweight. I have a similar (but blousier) silk one from Madewell that I actually find very hot in the summer.

    4. It's a cute top! I'm just too old for it!

      Delete
    5. The top will be a disaster on me. I do not need to try it on - short torso and substantial boobs do not combine well with a ruffle on the top and a ruffle on the bottom. Smocking adds some volume too.

      Delete
    6. Anyone with any volume up top needs to stay far, far away from this top.

      Delete
    7. Wow. That’s definitely not going to sell.

    8. I may be in the minority, but I'm pretty busty and I'm actually excited. I worry that it will be way too short, but other than that it could be great. Things tend to either fit me in the chest and then just hang like a sack, or fit me in the waist and then I'm busting out of the top. I feel like the stretchy smocking will be fitted through my midsection but allow for my larger chest in a flattering best-of-both-worlds. And the straps seem wide enough to wear a real bra. I guess I'll have to order and see if it's as disastrous as everyone else predicts!

      Delete
    9. Yes I think as long as it's not cropped and as long as worn with the right pants or skirt I might like it. If they had it in solid colors that might make it more appealing to some too but the liberty prints are nice.

      Delete
    10. That was exactly a style I had in the late 1970's when I was a skinny high schooler. I had a tiny print dress and a tiny print top with the elastic smocking. I think the dress is still at my parent house, it would be 40 years old now. Anyway, I was able to wear them without a bra when I was a kid.

      Delete
    11. I had a few of dresses in this style as a kid in the 70s, they were pretty standard stuff. Easy to fit, comfy to wear, and infinitely entertaining to pull the smocking up, down, back and forth!

    1. Some of my Thursday am orders shipped: The Ruffle-sleeve crewneck in striped everyday cashmere along with two tank tops (gym) , polka dot tights (next winter) and a navy skinny Italian leather belt. These were all over 70% off before the retailmenot code and the 50% adjustment.
Also a suede belt for the Mr. shipped and the striped bead drop earrings. I have those same earrings in gold, red, white and now blue/white. These were the lowest price at $1.49 after adjustments. I may have paid triple that for the white ones and at least double for the gold! They are fun costume earrings that don't weigh too much.

I already received a sweater and pants I ordered for the Mr. on the 9th, plus the peony gingham sheath dress. My husband saw it in the store and wanted me to try it. I ordered a 4 and 6 and didn't even try the 6 as the 4 fit. I also ordered the sleeveless pleated A-line dress in peony. I'll decide which one I'm keeping when it arrives.

I'm happy with the less than $30 Ruffle-sleeve crewneck in striped everyday cashmere H3788. I already had the grey and cream version, now I've added the navy and camel. I've been down on J Crew cashmere, but now have had to revise my opinion as I've added 4 very nice pieces ranging from $28 to $40. The ruffle sleeve, the Mockneck Fair Isle cashmere sweater K3161, and Lace-up sweater in everyday cashmere J0964 in navy and natural. I'll have many years of cashmere luxury.

The only dud was Tie-neck short-sleeve sweater in everyday cashmere J1319 which was thin and crazy undersized. I ordered up a size to M but even that was tight and short.

    1. Hi, shopgrrrl

I wear P0 maddies (in both the wool and cotton versions) and P2 in the camerons when I can find a cameron that fits. (P2 maddies are always too big and P0 camerons are always too smal on me.) I'm pretty straight through the middle and I find that some of the camerons in P2 did not work for me at all in terms of looking good/fitting properly. Maybe it's my imagination, but the fit seemed to vary a lot across the various cameron iterations so while I would buy maddies on final sale, I can't take the chance on camerons.

Sorry but no personal experience on the Edies. But now you have me intrigued :-)

    2. Thanks! I was planning to buy today but then realized the Camerons and Edies are the daily deal and don’t qualify for the extra 50% off. I’ll wait on these for now. Looking forward to bringing out my cropped Maddies in another week or so when things warm up enough for bare ankles.

    4. Thanks, Kate! I agree the price is reasonable, but I’m not desperate for pants so can probably wait. Which style do you have and do you find them TTS?

    5. This is the best price I’ve ever seen on Camerons. I bought a gray pair this morning. I wear a 0 in wool (black, gray, winter white) Maddies but have found some that were too big on me (camel). Even the gray ran larger but they do fit. I wear a 0 in the four season Camerons also. HTH!

  37. Everlane has a special on the wide leg crops today for $50. Usually they are $68.
I followed the size chart and taking into consideration they do stretch a little took my smaller size 00. I find them very flattering.

If you buy through my invitation I get a discount on my next order. I’ve posted pics of some of my faves on IG @wearthislikethis

    1. The Everlane linen picnic tank looks to be well made tailored simple classic pieces. Reminds me when J crew used to make nice quality pieces like that in basic colors and a unique print that would be their signature print for the seasonal collection.
