Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew thisa {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I did all of my returns and bought one thing... Which was supposed to be an in store pick up from January that never moved from "placed" and they had the item in the store so I just bought it (and got a better price for it)... So I guess I technically already failed no shop February because my last January purchase didn't go through? It still says "placed" in my order history so I'm not sure what's going to happen with it.

      And I'm sticking with #frugalfebruary because #realistic.

    2. I don’t think it counts! I’m planning to exchange the S&W loafers I bought in Jan if they ever come back.

  2. Good morning, JCAs! So far NSF has been a success. While 3 days isn’t exactly an accomplishment or anywhere approaching my personal record, I will still celebrate and share the small victories! I also thought I’d share how I shopped my closet for the weekend. I had an impromptu road trip to attend a funeral in my hometown. I wore a dress that was 20 years old. Yup, you read that right. A classic black Jones New York shift dress, made in Canada to boot! Not that anything else from 20 years ago fits me, but somehow this dress is still perfect. When I graduated from university I worked in very conservative offices and JNY was practically haute couture in my young mind. It’s a good reminder that quality pieces can last, and classics don’t go out of style.

  3. Madewell early access for those interested. Looks like another Madewell season where I'll only really look for basics.

    1. Judging by the grayed out size choices, it looks like it was in stock earlier today! Are the sale items that are listed being refreshed? If so, I would stalk it until it pops back up.

    2. Wow, I've never even seen that. It's so nice.

    3. I hope you find it, I bought it before Christmas and while I’ve only worn mine once I love it! Very warm and cozy. I’ve def seen it pop back quite often over the past weeks, good luck!

    4. @jan, I wondered if that was your review I read! Do you find it chunky? Or is it a smoother, thinner overall sweater? I'm contemplating another Madewell turtleneck which I love because of the chunkiness but I could use a mockneck. I know there's ribbing in the front but I can't tell if it's closer in thickness to the balloon sleeve turtleneck or thicker.

      Delete
    5. Hi Suz, the ribbed part is thicker (def thicker than the balloon sleeve turtleneck). The rib part felt plush and when I wore it it felt more substantial than my other cashmere sweaters (ie the Jcrew turtlenecks from year ago). One review I read somewhere complained of thin cashmere for the sleeves but I didn’t find them thin. I bought my smaller size and it’s still a little relaxed. I like the longer length, I have a longish torso as do you if I remember correctly. I have the grey and the ribbing looks plush to the eye.

      Delete
    6. Oh and yes I’d consider it chunky for the ribbed front and back

I called my local store (Alpharetta, GA) and they did not have any leather jackets at all.

    Thanks!

    1. Hi Jenny! I saw a size 2 leather jacket at the Louisville, KY store this weekend. I'm not sure if it's what you're looking for or not as I didn't pay too close attention to style number. It was on sale though and their sale section is usually 50% off (it was this weekend).

    2. Hi Jenny, I’d call a store and ask them to search store inventory country wide. Although Canada has very few stores left now they’ve always done that for me in the past. Good Luck I hope you find it!

      Delete
    3. The Louisville store still had it and said they would ship it today! I am SO excited. Thanks so much Zach and Mere!

    4. OMG lucky score! That's incredible!!!

    5. I know! They even matched the price I paid for the size 0 (extra 60% off sale). No charge for shipping even though I closed my J.Crew card last year. Amazing.

    6. They are my local store and the manager (Jason) is AMAZING. He will even return my final sale items if they don't work out. Congrats Jenny - glad it worked out!

    7. The JCA wwfify is in full force this week! Congrats on finding it! I miss the old days when JCrew routinely did the “we will find it for you”, they’d even locate the item and ship it to Canada.

  6. No visit this weekend - I finally went through the orders that arrived when I was on vacation only to realize that I'm missing a package :( So I need to reach out to J.Crew (and do one more porch search now that the snow has melted) but bummed because it included the ivory cashmere turtleneck and bright pink luggage tag. I had ordered a grey chateau parka at a great price but I really don't like the fur on the hood that they've gone to - it's better than last year's but not as nice as previous year's - the seam is right in the middle of the hood and just looks odd. So I'll be returning that at some point.

I am also trying to shop my closet and make mindful purchases. As others said on Friday's thread - I feel like I don't have a ton of vices so cutting out shopping in addition to eating well and exercising regularly seems like a lot! But I have a bursting closet of clothing and not enough days to wear it all. The dismal sale section has curbed the want to purchase anything!

    1. +1 Count me in for justifying my shopping habit by listing all the things I *don’t* buy. I rarely drink when I’m eating out, I’ve cut back on my Starbucks habit, etc., but all of that doesn’t make my closet any bigger or require me to change outfits 3x/day, or pack for a long, glamorous vacay! I just have too much. And I really love so much of what I’ve got, it fits, is in good condition, is in style, etc., so it’s not easy to get rid of pieces. I’m thankful the Great Purge has cleared out the sale section and the lack of discount has removed any incentive to buy so at least I’ve slowed down my accumulation rate.

    1. Hi Kate, personally I’m not loving the shape of it from model pics when I searched it, specifically the way it looks like it tents out. On the other hand maybe that would make it more stylish or make more of a statement so I guess I’m no help! Either way I do love collection items in general.

    3. I couldn't find any on Saturday and wound up paying more and Final Sale than when my order was cancelled. I'm happy to have the belt but I hope it fits! What size did you get Suz?

      Delete
    4. Pretty sure I got small. Since it's dressier I wanted it to wear higher up on my waist. I only tried it once quickly and it seemed ok. I can always add more holes or just loop it though longer if needed

      Delete
    5. I don't even know they had XS. I'll check mine.

      Delete
    6. Size small. It's loose on the smallest part of my waist but generally speaking I'd only put it at that location wearing a dress or skirt really high up, or maybe the highest rise pants. So I think it's fine, it's loose enough that I can also wear it on my hips,

      Delete
    7. Funny you mention that because I have two belts at Rago Brothers getting holes to make smaller right now!
I got an XS for same reason, work pants.
      Thank you!

    9. Perfect! I mean, I will be home in an hour and a half but why wait to know if it will fit when I can base of you :) I need "up high" belts. Thank you for checking that for me!

The Complete Series of Piggie and Elephant was also delivered today so #priorities.

    10. @Cheri, Do Rago Brothers do nice work? I was thinking of having a bag and some shoes refinished.

    11. Lynn, I haven been bringing all my nicer designer items for years and am always happy. They are supposed to be the best. Back when the designer stores would do repairs for free, that is where they sent them. Once they stopped offering repairs gratis, I started to go directly.
For price examples, I have them putting two smaller holes with metal grommets into a Chanel belt for $44. Two plain holes into a Gucci belt for $6.
Bag repairs easily go into the hundreds, but what other options are there some times?

      Delete
    12. @Suz I am just missing your posts somehow. A screw and nail! You are much more of a diy-er than I am!

      Delete
    13. @Cheri, Thanks so much Cheri. I was on their website and viewed some of their. Based on the reviews looks pretty good to me. I will try them, I see they give an estimate as well as turnaround time; this is most important to me. Thanks again!

    14. Only $6 for belt holes, that's certainly fair. I've heard they're the best.
I have a few local places by me that are fine for most of my needs but lately everyone talks about Rago Bros for luggage and higher end stuff.

      Delete
    15. Since Rago is in the next town over, of course we've gone there forever. They have been quite smart about increasing their prices and elevating their status over the years. I remember from ancient days when it was just the local cobbler. Now I'm less likely to go there, because it's too $$$ - sometimes cheaper just to replace an item.

  9. Thought I posted but it's not here. Made my returns today.
Nothing in Jcrew sale section of interest. I noticed the rollneck in gray which was nice but I wasn't buying the nylon blend.
New arrivals, oh, note to self, they had small Buffalo check tops, red and black which I have from last year and white and gray. Sleeves are tightly rolled, NOT exactly the way they did it under Jenna. Wonder if that needed to change? They showed the red one next to the white jeans so I'll try to style mine like that.
Also I finally saw the super wide leg pants in person, the black were in the front of the store, I like the style BUT the stitching is not great quality and the fabric, although a nice dressy poly or acetate, really reminds me of pants I had from express over twenty years ago. Nice drapey fabric but def feels overpriced and maybe more like chicos or WHBM if that still exists.
I failed NSF but what I didn't buy was the glitter mules from Madewell realizing I don't need them as cute as they are. I did buy a skinny silk scarf from Madewell in a fun star print. One for me and each of my older girls. Good sale price. Since I liked that pattern but none of the garments, a little scarf is a fun way to add interest to my usual black or white tank, tee or buttondown. Or around my bag.

    1. Thanks for the review of the pants...WHBM does still exist, there is one next to where my local J Crew USED to be in Chester. One time they had a dress that I considered, but passed since I don't need *dressy* dresses. I've never bought anything from them. Ok, you know Chico's is a death-stroke to those pants.

    2. I've never bought from either. My mom has a totally different style and larger size so she's shopped chicos on and off for years. I tend to prefer more structure

  10. Only spend this weekend was a big grocery run! My mom and I are shopping our closets - as in she's shopping mine and I'm shopping hers. A few years ago I bought a few things that I gave to her because they were too big on me. Now I'm bigger and they fit, so she gave them back to me. To trade, I gave her a big bag of stuff that I'm too big for her. We're finding out that our sizes have flipped and we fit the other's clothes. Go figure! It's making NSF a little less painful.

  11. I found a brandnew chambray blazer from spring 18 iin our sale section for a song.
Planning on wearing it with the v-neck cami that i just picked up in green and red.
Saw a march preview and it is all gingham and eyelet. There is a lavender gingham jacket (with navy gingham under collar) with matching skirt or dress (not sure as hard to see).
Two jumpsuits, one gingham and one Liberty. Ligt yellow gingham shirt, white eyelet dress,Liberty dress and chambray pencil skirt. New Libertyshirt with flower necklace.

    2. @Ina, Hi Ina hope you received my msg on the other thread yesterday. Sorry I missed visiting you in your store. Perhaps next time when there isn’t a crazy Super Bowl event! I saw the previews the other day which were sent and made a comment. Terrible pics aren’t they? Happy they’re bringing back the Old Jcrew Yellow. Do you think it’s the cashmere sweater that’s wrapped around the gingham checked blouse? I love the look of that Liberty Print blouse too. I couldn’t tell if it was a necklace or a clip pin. Happy you clarified it.

    4. @Lynn Hopefully we meet next time:)
Now that you say it,it actually might be a pin and not a necklace. Pics are so bad and the sweater looks to me like one of those cotton sweaters they used to have but i am also not sure.
@Miss JR i looked at the print again and now i am not 100% positiv it is Liberty. It is blue with paisley on it i think.i has a flounce at the bottom (could be a skirt and top too).
Sorry that was not really helpful.

    5. I hope they offer a perfect shirt in the Liberty Pavilion black multi pattern. I love the print. Right now I only see a hair tie and a bandana.

I added the tie-back tulip skirt in white-multi Liberty floral to my wish list, but I'm not sure about the skirt shape. I really prefer simple gathered skirts in the busy prints.

    6. I love both gingham and eyelet, but they’ve done so much of it for the past few years that I think I’ve had my fill. 2017 was literally gingham everything from socks to scrunchies and all ports of call in between. From that year I have a bikini, two Tippis, 2 scarves, 1 pair of socks, and in the 2019 Flashening I ordered a popback dress. The only thing I’m missing is the 2017 gingham moto jacket, but have never seen one at the right price. I always love Liberty prints, but am reaching saturation there as well. Oh well, it will still be fun to look, which is all I’m supposed to be doing for now anyway!

    8. Thank you Ina for the scoop! I love Liberty and gingham but can't get excited about this new rollout. At this point I feel that they need something more impressive than gingham, eyelet and more Liberty prints.
