J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Slept late and opened my Insta to see someone post a pic about online 19.99 sale but I must have slept through it because nothing seems to be 19.99 in the sale section and I can't find the post anymore. Not sure who post it, it was before my first sip of espresso.

  2. It’s Tuesday but I got an email about the weekend promo already. Lil early much? Is the 19.99 store promo over?

    1. As of yesterday the $19.99 promo was still going on...

    2. Anyone know if it's still going on today?

  3. Never mind, found there are a few items, I had bookmarked my size which seems to not have anything. Thank goodness!

  4. I was able to get the glen plaid loafers with pearls for $13.99, but in a 7.5 instead of my regular 7. The only sizes left were 6, 6.5 and 7.5 and that was at 7:30 am. At that time, there was nothing else drastically reduced or unusual that I noticed.

  5. I saw can't imagine that they'd try to do the 19.99 sale online this weekend? It seems like a recipe for disaster with the holiday sale fiasco.

No reviews here, I did contact CS yesterday via chat about my missing order. They were very pleasant and refunded my order and offered to price match the items in different colors since everything was of course sold out. The order was for the bright pink luggage tag, ivory cashmere turtleneck and ivory eco ponte mockneck top and the only thing I reordered was a black luggage tag. My energy is probably better spent tracking down an old J.Crew cashmere turtleneck. I'm wearing a pink one today from a few years ago - it's so cozy - I have it paired with the glen plaid Dover blazer, Black BR Ryan ankle pants and pink TB flats and a J.Crew pendant necklace with pink and mint green stones.

  6. I received the new vintage tee (crewneck) in Sun from my January order. It seems pretty thin and is a little sheer for sure (I can see the price tag through it). The yellow is pretty, a little lighter than I was hoping but still very nice. I have some old navy vintage tees which didn’t get any holes, since they’re navy I don’t have the sheer issue. Can’t remember if lighter colours used to be sheer. The sleeves of the new one stick out a little at the bottom. Since returns are $25 from Canada I’ll just keep it but I can’t say that I’m loving it.

The ruffle neck pullover sweater in navy was a flashening purchase and I really like it, it’s very pretty. The length is an issue for me at 5’7” - I wore it with my 10” toothpicks and it was just below the waist band. I had to wear a tank underneath as it would ride up sometimes. I wish it were longer then I would consider another colour too but as is I won’t buy anymore. If you’re short waisted or shorter it is a really cute sweater.

    1. I don’t buy crewneck t-shirts from J Crew since they are too high neck for me. I really need collarbones to show to balance out boobs. I’ve bought v neck one and it’s cut too low for me. My bra can be seen through that v neck. I decided to use it for sleeping since shipping back is pricey. It looks like JCrew does not make t-shirts for my body type :(

    2. Hi Jan, This makes 2 of us disappointed with the tee. I had recently posted that I had really wished for a little deeper saturation with yellow. I preordered a cashmere in the Vintage Citrus which is arriving today, however I am down in Saint Barth’s at the moment and will have to ask my PA if she approves of the weight and color. If not it’s going back. Will report later. I like you, am really hoping for better quality and prettier colors including “our shades of yellow”.

  7. I noticed online that a dress I bought on clearance in Nov (silk ruffle high low hem in tropical floral) went back up to full price. It says new color but it’s the same color as last year.

  8. Thanks JCAs for details about 30% off sale. I thought I was gonna miss out being in Capetown, but I was able to call a local store this evening and purchased jeans and 2 pairs of shoes. SA was super heloful.

  12. I’m keeping my (new) v-neck vintage t-shirts as lounge/sleepwear, as I’m happy with the price I paid for them. I washed them, and they came out as something the cat dragged in. I had to put them in the dryer for a while for them to regain shape, but to me they’re not presentable enough to be worn outside the house. The v neck is a tad deep, they’re shorter, and the seams got twisted after washing. My chosen colors were heather grey, frosty olive, and white. I returned the white one to my local J. Crew, and the sales clerk asked me if was Mercantile - not a good sign *sighs*.

  13. Update on the cashmere Everyday sweater in Vintage Citrus.. Ouch!!! Scratchy and again doesn’t feel like cashmere per my PA. Stated color is very pretty pale yellow as in old Jcrew but with a good amount of saturation. Color is extremely different than the vintage tee which is bland. Perfect Shirt gingham check in yellow is brighter yellow, more of the Dazzling Sun yellow from before and has a pale smaller check yellow which is more of a beige toned color if this makes sense. It appears that is isn’t crinkled but then it hasn’t been washed yet of course. Again will be interesting to see what the Jackie Featherweight cashmere in Dazzling Yellow will look like. Not too hopeful. They should have made the Jackie in the same shade of yellow as the Everyday Cashmere pullover. Sweater runs tts. (We are the same size) Sending back. Hope this of some help to all of you who are interested in yellow this season. There will be a lot more items in yellow my VPS previously mentioned.

  14. If anyone still has any interest in winter clearance sales, LL Bean has up to 70% off through tomorrow, which is quite good given that it’s not a promo-crazy company. It’s been mentioned here before, but the signature cotton fisherman sweaters are gorgeous design and heirloom quality you will wear forever. Not exactly fashion-forward, but I’ve never regretted buying an LL Bean sweater.

    1. Thanks for the reminder, Ruffles. I’ve been ignoring my LLBean emails for ages now, but took a quick look and you’re right, the fisherman sweaters look amazing. I love that they’re 100% cotton, and they have a tunic length that looks really cozy.

    2. I ordered a fisherman sweater from them last week and got it this week. It's great - it's the blue version of a cream one I already own. It's so nice and thick and WARM, and hasn't morphed shape at all. I also highly recommend. I order one size up from the my usual JC size because I find their sleeves are a little skinnier than I like especially if I want to wear a layer under.

    3. I’m also a fan. I have accumulated quite a collection of LL Bean cotton sweaters over the past few years, including the Signature fisherman, Double L and Stitchworks. (I think they’ve discontinued Stitchworks.) I love them all! Unlike eeps and some online reviewers, I did not need to size up from my J.Crew sweater size. I almost always wear size large in sweaters and that’s the size I purchased for all of my LL Bean sweaters except the Signature fisherman tunics. The size large in that style was comically long and wide, so I sized down to medium.

    4. Jeanne, I sized down in that one too. Got the light blue and it’s gorgeous.

    1. That's a good price and very tempting, I have two thomas Mason, tops and both are a size 2. I tend to size up to a size 4 in button downs these days. Mine are both a few years old and a little tight across my upper back but quality for both is nice. The tuxedo shirt I have is a black and white gingham (smaller print) and the cotton is a really nice thickness.

  19. Just received some more previews from my VPS. No item numbers. Large Gingham Checked jumpsuit looked like a pastel blue, a checked suite jacket and skirt in a pink, white eyelet Jackie Cardigan, pointed toe Maryjane shoe in a blue, another pointed toe shoe with a large bow looks pretty though unable to tell whether it’s a print or glitter, white eyelet perhaps long sleeve blouse with some type of pattern on the top and bottom, again photo isn’t clear, (not sure if it’s a funnel neck) white eyelet dress with a ruffle on the bottom with a short flutter sleeve, blue floral pattern blouse with matching ruffle skirt with some pink in it and perhaps a little deeper purple, sorry I can’t be if more help. Items look fairly nice.

  21. Forgot to mention the Liberty Shepardly Print is quickly selling out with preorders and no restocking. This blouse isn’t online. I ordered one it looks so pretty from the preview pic even though it has those crazy flower power earring stuck into the collar for display and is arriving Monday before launch and before I return home. Will have my PA send me details and will post here.
