Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. The last of my 50% off orders should be arriving at the store today, so if timing works I will go and hope there's nothing else I want!

  2. Tiny sales update today. I can't believe I'm saying this, but "hooray!"Since there is no free shipping, I am also able to resist buying the $4.50 v-neck supima t-shirt..

    1. Lol. My feeling as well! Seeing 600 items in sale was a little bit of a relief since I knew I’d have more sleep tonight.

    2. I slept like a rock last night for a change, so I never even checked the sale. Also, I need absolutely nothing. I'm continuing to work on cleaning my drawers and closet, just a little bit every day. I noticed I'm missing several long sleeve perfect fit tees that I wear under my wool sweaters. I kept thinking they were in the laundry, but they're not. Time to get the step stool and pull out the two tiny plastic bins on the top shelf. I bet I stashed them up there last summer to free up a little more drawer space for my summer clothes.

  3. If you can catch the Liberty Ros perfect shirt in popback, I would recommend it. It was a surprise love for me. I had not seen it in person and had decided in the spirit of reducing (yeah right) my purchasing not to buy it when it first appeared in the (final) sale section. I figured that the reason I liked the Liberty shirts I already have is that they have multiple colour and this one is primarily navy and red, with a tiny of what I would describe as ochre and a subtle green for the stems/leafs and it didn't seem special or colourful enough.

I can't even explain why I crumbled and ended up ordering one. It arrived and I was surprised by how much I love it. I even wore it the next day which I never do with a new purchase - probably because I have too many clothes. I think it may even be my new favourite and I may even love it more than my recent Liberty Catesby Floral shirt. So this is probably a bad lesson - I ordered something I had decided against and now love it.

If you buy final sale, beware the strange (at least for me) sizing. I took a P8 which is a first for one in my years of dealing with J Crew's strange sizing. I have shirts that are mostly P4 and P6, with the rare P2. The reviews said that the sizing runs small and P8 was the only size available (final sale). I figured I could live with it being slightly big. But to my surprise P8 seems to fit pretty well. Maybe P6 might have been better (and it of course popped back the next day after I had ordered the final sale P8) but the shoulders and back seem right on the P8 so may be the P6 would have been too small. So strange, since I bought the perfect shirt in polka dot just two months ago and that was a P4 - club collar perfect shirt just like the LIberty Ros one. But Liberty shirts seem to run smaller, even when looks to be the same style as other J Crew shirts. Note that I wear the Catesby in P6.

I am aware of how fortunate I am that I can even spend time and energy on these sorts of musings and thank this lovely community and Alexis.

    1. I have the pajamas and I wear the top with jeans. I also got the short pajama bottoms to go with the top in the summer. It sounds twisted, I know but I love the print! Maybe I'll get the blouse too because I think it would look great under a navy sweater-vest.

    2. I also love this Liberty print. I'm a sucker for most Liberty prints but I love the subtleness of this one, with the dark navy background. I also saw a JCA on IG pair this with the red lace easy pants, and it was the most gorgeous outfit. I don't have the lace pants but I paired with the red Marties and I loved the combo. From my experience, whenever it's a collab shirt, I always take a size bigger because the shoulders are always too small - whether its Thomas Mason or Liberty.

    3. I'm a little nervous reading about the sizing of the Liberty print shirt. I haven't worn mine yet, but I tried it on when I received it and the fit seemed fine, exactly the same as my other Liberty print shirts. I hope so because I already put it through the wash yesterday so I can't return it.

    4. Jeanne - hopefully you will be fine. It may just be a question of individual proportions and I do have broad shoulders and back relative to the rest of me.

eeps - thank you! I am totally going to copy/steal that look. Do you recall which JCA posted on her instragram? Would love to see it.

  4. As others have stated I feel shopped out. I can't believe I am saying this but I almost wish they would go back to no % off sale. I held strong during that stint as the prices just weren't that great. I definitely have enough new things for a while and the thoughtful purchases derailed out of the gate this year. I also am dreading going to the store to make a return as I feel like I am going to have a giant bag of returns to process. Granted I kept more than I am returning. I just hate the side eye I get sometimes.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Oh stop! Never feel guilty about returning.

      Delete
    2. I agree, please remove the percentage. As well as the side eye. I am going to go tonight after work to pick up a small accessory order I had delivered to store (the only one of 5 or 6 that has arrived) and to return a few items they will definitely not be pleased about since they are final sale. The last time I returned final sale the SA said I couldn't and when I replied my SA always lets me and that he literally told me I could always return final sale, she asked for his name and made a show of writing it down. I have not been in since, but I am making final sale returns today, and expect to make more when the rest of my purchases arrive.

Plus my son goes mildly crazy in there, probably because he knows the store layout so well, and I will be corralling him off the platforms and out of the cubbies. Sigh. I'm glad I am at least wearing the leopard topcoat today since I just realized I have no crew on.

    3. @Cheritheberry, you touched on a pet peeve of mine - I really dislike feeling that I should be wearing JC to demonstrate loyalty when I go in to return, well, rejects. But because life is short, my shopping uniform is at least 3 JC pieces, and an old Burberry trench left open or opened upon entering... I stopped carrying JC purses because it takes too much time to find things, so JC card is in a pants pocket and merch is is a Saks or Barney’s bag. Which, btw, is reinforced on the inside with duct tape.

      Delete
    4. Let me add that if I wear anything else I seem to become invisible.

      Delete
    5. @wellfedfred you are better than I am, my returns are generally in a yellow plastic shoprite bag. I do all my shopping online and if they are going to judge me for that then so be it. I have walked in with my all my discard items in one big clear plastic liner bag from the order as well.

    6. I'm amused by you ladies feeling the need to wear J.Crew clothes when you visit the store, because I feel like I need to do the opposite and *not* wear J.Crew when I'm shopping there so they don't think I'm obsessed with their clothes. A couple friends of mine have commented on me constantly wearing J.Crew and I feel kind of embarrassed about how much I own and wear.

      Delete
    7. I do own a large amount so odds are I am when I'm shopping or returning. No one has ever commented, noticed or anything similar. I was even wearing an older stadium cloth coat from years back which is still in great shape and a fellow shopper commented but that's it. I wonder how much institutional knowledge about the brand exists anymore among the staff.

      Delete
    8. Interesting thought about staff noticing (or not) JCrew items. My closest store, which closed several months ago, was originally staffed with brand lovers who often commented on special (ie Collection) items I was wearing while shopping (often on my lunch break). Those folks had all disappeared at least a year before the store closed. It really felt like shopping with friends when they worked at JC. I could geek out with them over new items I loved without feeling embarrassed. The staff at the remaining full-line store in our city shows no affection for the brand, in my experience, and they’ve generally exhibited a lack of knowledge about how things work-not necessarily their fault, but quite a shift from ‘the old days’ when I might strategize with a familiar SA about which pieces to buy, because I wanted them all.

      Delete
    9. @TeriLynn13 I think you're right about that, especially when it comes to older items.

      Delete
    10. I am loll (literally laughing out loud) because another one of my ship to stores made it, so yes, definitely going today!

And it's funny. I do not feel the need to walk into any other store wearing the brand. Certainly not high end stores or even Club Monaco. I think it is the camaderie with the old timer SAs and the sense of loyalty I feel to the J. Crew brand. I never realized it until my post above.

      Delete
    11. Sorry for my llol typo above. Returns were made with no mention of final sale or disapproving looks.

Picked up star Harlow cardigan as part of my ship to store. No tags or replacement buttons on it. This has not happened to me before and gotta say it's a turn off...not sure I want it...
Mockneck tunic sweater is a HUGE win! I honestly regretted ordering it before I picked it up. My usual small sweater size for great. 100% wool, it reminds me of my old roll neck sweater from high school.

  5. I'm bummed because my favorite JC store closed last week. Has anyone lost a favorite store in the downsizing? Is it going to force you to shop online from now on? My store was the SoHo store in New York City. There are plenty of other stores here so it won't effect me but I kind of wish they closed the men's Liquor Store instead because it was a really great bar before it was JC and I want it to be a great bar again.

    1. Mine is still open and I haven't heard anything about it closing (Lakeside Mall in Metairie, LA). I don't go there often, but I love having the option. I find that many items look better IRL..or maybe it's just the way they're displayed.

    2. They closed Soho? That was the best store! Especially for Crewcuts. When we lived in Manahttan it was my home store. Sadly, Danbury is closing. They have never had a good selection of merchandise, but the staff has always been wonderful.

  7. My order from the “secret” sale arrived earlier this week. It was a mix of hits and misses. I’m so glad I snagged both Fall Floral scarves, they’re really beautiful and a perfect complement to my palette. The Merino Turtleneck with side slits is a bit looser than I expected; I can work with it, but wish I’d sized down from L to M. The Merino Cotton oversized tunic was a beautiful soft knit, but sized comically large. I sized down from L to M and I was swimming in it, and I’m 5’9”, so it’s not too often a sweater overwhelms me. I found the photo of the model in the cream-coloured tunic misleading as it looks pretty straight-cut on her, but on me it looked like a tent dress. Needless to say, I’m returning it.

    1. Agree on the merino turtleneck it runs very W I D E! Boxy doesn’t even begin to describe the fit - but it’s very comfy w leggings over a slim LS tee.

  8. I can't believe I placed another order. I did dry January and really enjoyed not drinking, I may need to do "no shop February." There were a few more sweaters I had to try, the only final sale one is the merino turtleneck with side slits (or something like that, it's $49.99.) there was a subtle boatneck sweater I hadn't noticed and a sleeveless ribbed mockneck, plus the cashmere cardigan for $38?! CRAZINESS.

  9. Off topic question regaring the Stylebook app: is it possible to add a quantity to an item? For instance, if you have three identical white t-shirts, do you have to add each one separately? I’m trying to figure out the best way to calculate the cost per wear. If I only add it one time, but I’m actually wearing 3 separate items that I purchased, the cost per wear will be off. If I add it multiple times, it’s not really possible to keep track of which one I’m wearing, so the cost per wear will still be off. Yes, I know I’m overthinking this.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. @jeanne - excellent question. I have not been able to add a quantity or at least couldn't find a way. To get around it I totaled the cost of the two shirts I had in the cost area then put a note in for what I really paid for each. This seemed easier than tracking two identical pieces as separate items to put in outfits. Hope that helps.

    2. @Laura Matey Thanks, I will do it that way. I was already considering it but I thought maybe I'd overlooked the correct procedure. I'm surprised the developers didn't consider this scenario. Doesn't everyone have a few duplicates of basics?

      Delete
    3. Yes. I have been using Stylebook for about two years. When I have duplicates I add the dollar amounts together and just have one entry. You can use a consistent term in the notes like "dupe" or "duplicate" and then you can search for that term. That's how I know I have an embarrassing number of duplicates :-)

  10. Hello! I am considering the charcoal Toothpick jeans (Rewards are burning in my wallet!). Would love to hear any and all reviews/opinions of the jean. TIA!

    1. I love them. Took what seems to have become my usual toothpick size, 24. 25 seems to be looser in the crotch, but not really anywhere else. I think becsusei have muscular legs relative to the size of my waist/hips. I have them in a few pics on IG @wearthislikethis.

    2. Thank you for sharing! I’ll check out your IG. I have the toothpicks in the Prescott wash and absolutely love them. I was hoping these would have a similar fit and denim quality. Adios, Rewards!

      Delete
    3. @Charity Nance, I bought the charcoal 9" toothpicks in sz 28 the same size as my Prescott wash ones (which I also love) and they fit similarly. I find them comfortable and pretty soft but I have only tried them on so far I haven't worn them out yet. Mine arrived with barely any whiskering which is ok but I thought they looked much more whiskered in @Suz Has IG. @Suz, do you find the whiskering noticeable? Mine are pretty even in color and it's hard to see lighter lines on them. @Suz helped me with sizing awhile ago too. :)

    4. Jan, The whispering in mine is fairly noticeable. In some pics it's hard to tell because of the lighting. There is also a lighter gray wash without much whispering, but you didn't get that one, right?

      Delete
    5. Thank you, Suz! I bought the darker charcoal 9" toothpick, the ones you have. I can see that the whiskering matches the online pic but mine is super light, barely noticeable. I think I'd rather more variation on mine but my closest store didn't carry them.

  12. Next week I'll check out my local and see what's new. I've bought 6 things online and kept 4 so far this year, which is enough for me (2 pairs of shoes, one skirt, one top). I will happily get more shoes online with the current sale, though, should the ones I love popback. My store doesn't carry them. The 2 returns were for sizing and odd fit, and quality plus odd fit. I started doing returns by mail just because I really hate going in for a return, trying things on, and not finding anything to buy. I'm fine stopping in and not buying, but on top of a return it just feels odd. I don't think I've ever been hassled at J.Crew about returns, by the way- it's a self-imposed situation.

  13. I am tempted by some of Madewell's new arrivals, which is unusual for me- usually I find them too boxy, too short, too casual, and not feminine enough for my personal style. I may have to check them out in person...eventually. J. Crew has trained me not to buy anything full price, even though I know Madewell promos are fewer and farther in between.

It is very casual but i found if i wear the right denim with the short and boxy tops (kind of like the cali dem boot jeans) then it works with the proportions. Also i always get compliments when i wear the floral dresses.

  14. I received most of my pending orders today and I'm relatively happy with my choices.

    Big hits:
*I absolutely love the rugby striped t-shirt. It's what my daughter would refer to as "clown clothes," but I think it's fabulous.
*The 1988 rollneck sweater in sweet jasmine. Some of the reviews complained about the shade of pink, but I really like it. I can already tell that this will get a lot of wear.
*The postcard print top and skirt are adorable. I doubt I'll wear them together (too much!) but both look great with solid black and will be perfect for warm summer days.

The more mediocre and possible returns:
*The pink vintage plaid boyfriend shorts are super cute but a tiny bit tight. They zip but the fit is not loose and "boyfriend" like it should be. I'm working hard on getting in better shape, so I'll probably keep them and hopefully they'll fit properly by summer.
*The celestial sweatshirt is cute but it doesn't have the loose fit I expected. It fits ok, but it's more fitted than other J.Crew sweatshirts I own. I'll probably keep it, but I'm not sure yet. It's a good thing that I ordered it in the larger of the two sizes I generally order or it would definitely be too small.
*I think I over-ordered with the vintage cotton pajamas. I really like them, but I also I ordered the Liberty print pajamas that I haven't received yet and I don't think I need so many new pairs. I'll put them aside until I finish my cleaning project and decide then.

Being me, I checked the sale section and *hangs head* bought the supima v-neck tee and the new vintage tee. $14 for both and I had my pick of ship-to stores. I had managed to stave off buying anything from the sale section for a week. I blame the cat.

    10. There is more in the early access section this morning - wrap dresses, a watercolor Floral print came and a floral dress, the elephant print button up. I think I am interested in the striped wrap.

Oh - it looks like some items have photos of two models that are different sizes.

  25. Jeanne - thank you for mentioning Robin Zasio's book "The Hoarder in You" a couple of days ago. I bought it via Kindle and there are some interesting ideas in it about why people (like me) like to acquire things (J Crew clothing in this case) and have clutter. I don't want to go into an all out shopping ban but I am trying hard to balance the inflow and generate some outflow (not enough outflow since I love the stuff I've got but have too much for the space I'm working with). Dr Zasio had an interesting sentence where she says (and I may be misquoting) that avoidance is not a solution and reducing the urge to acquire is the key.

Happy to see (in an aspiring to buy less way) that the sale section continues to be small this morning! Sending out good hoping to buy less vibes to all those trying to do so :-)

    1. @Toronto Modern - I'm glad you're enjoying the book. Dr. Zasio is so insightful. I may listen to the audio book one more time before I return it to the library. (If your library offers checkouts through the Hoopla or Overdrive apps, I highly recommend them. Audio books are perfect for listening while working out or doing housework.) I really think the desire to accumulate stuff is a genetic trait that helped our ancestors to survive during lean times, but it's less helpful for us.

      Delete
    2. I read it too, TM. Dr. Zasio has some very wise insights but I think you need to admit you have the tendency first to open up to it and benefit. We’re not talking about an average clothes-loving shopper here. My research interest is consumer buying behavior so I’ve reviewed a lot of content on this subject.

Anyone who is shopping, buying, returning, and posting about it daily, or
multiple times daily, would definitely learn something about themselves that would improve their mental health and self esteem.

I know I don't need anything and I think it's OK to want things - I just want to get better at buying less (be more discriminating) and/or removing things from my closet that are only getting worn a couple of times a year.

    1. At this point, instead of listing the closing stores JC should release a list of the stores that are still open. : /

Increasing the return shipping fee while closing so many stores is really unfortunate.

      Delete
    2. Some JCAs posted recently about Paypal's free returns (or technically speaking, they will reimburse you the amount you paid to return ship something you purchased via PayPal). I haven't tried it yet but I am thinking of switching over to paying with PayPal to get access to their free returns. There are limits. Not sure if they have different policies for US vs Canada, but it looks like for Canadians they limit you to 12 claims a year and $30 per claim. Also they are very specify and say that if you bought a bunch of things at once, and you return them separately, you are subject to a max of three claims which will count towards your limit.

Something to think about as the number of stores sadly dwindles..

      Delete
    3. That was me! US has the same constraints for number of claims and amount per claim each year. You also need to file the claim within 30 days of returning your item. Because I am lazy, I just use the label from the vendor and wait for the refund email to file my claim. The company that handles the claims for Paypal is Telus International, whose emails might trigger phishing scam warnings from Gmail. Just make sure to check your spam if you are a first time user of Paypal’s return feature.

    4. @Lynn, I'm sorry to hear that! I've been to that location a number of times (often driving 1-2 hours specifically to visit that one) while on vacation in Florida. Agree that service was always great. I love that mall and that Jcrew, I can't believe it's closing.

    5. slated to close on Long Island: Garden City, Manhasset, Huntington Station, Lake Grove, East Hampton and Southampton. Forgive me for pointing out that the obvious, but in the first two and last two towns, the stores were never great “performers,” because the local populations were born believing they know how to dress. Mickey should have done more research.

      Delete
    6. OMG! I am going to start crying. Huntington Station is my store. I'm abroad and will just be devastated if they close before I get to say goodbye. Really upsetting. Do you know when? RIP JCrew. I guess knowing that my store is closing really feels like the end ...

  27. Now that the sale section online has dwindled I'm super pissed at myself for even my (bit) of restraint and passing on a few items - I was trying to be responsible and hold out for better pieces. Now I am just thinking of those few that got away ... It's a vicious cycle, isn't it? In search of pop backs of pop backs ... :0

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Malvina I feel you! There are just two pieces that I regret not purchasing when the sale was in full force. I left them and 10 other items in my cart and watched as each one greyed out one by one within the last few days. Although somewhat stressful, letting items mariniate in my head and cart helped me to sort out the passing fancies from pieces that I will actually want to wear. If I decide to hunt for them, I’ll be gratified in succeeding. If those items are gone forever, I’ll still be glad to know that my energy was focused on items that are worth my time and money. :D

Now to the main point, which items are your forget-me-nots ;D? Mine are a pair of earrings and that stupid eyelet top, which I have decided will go well with all my blazers, jackets, and sweaters.

      Delete
    2. Yes! The grey out is indeed therapeutic and helpful for me too. I do it all the time, even when I know I won't buy an item. The forget me nots are a random popback of a tipped sweater blazer from a couple of years ago and a the teddy coat (in a size too small, but nonetheless would have made it work!). Oh well ... I am sure there will be others!

      Delete
    3. I agree that it's difficult and stressful to make split second decisions on whether that shiny thing that catches your eye is likely to become a well worn favorite or a regret that crowds your closet. Even when my choices aren't influenced by sale goggles, I often can't determine whether I truly like a garment until I've worn and washed it a couple times. And then it's generally too late to return.

  30. Picked up my ship to store order which included the red stripe funnelneck top, satin black Lottie's with bow tie and the ratti diamond ankle strap Mary Janes with glitter heel.
I decided to try the shoes on and right away I noticed the ratti shoes looked dingy, like the colors bled onto the off white. They didn't really look worn, but I even compared the fabric with skirts in the sale section and the difference was obvious to me, at first the assoc said they were final sale but then asked the manager who of course approved the return. Even at a great price, I didn't want to take a chance with them. I have enough. Too bad because they're cute,

    1. So saddened by the Early Access. Everything looks cheap and boring, but I agree that the colors are a bit more on point. In general, though, the shapes and cuts are so generic, lacking that streamlined flair in the details they are supposedly famous for. And the quality looks bad even from the photos. Any single one of those pieces could have come from Zara or H&M. The new Icon Trench is so obviously a cheaper knockoff of the current one. I adore my Icon Trench. Maybe I should add a backup to the closet while I have the chance.

      Delete
    2. I placed the old and new icon trench pictures side by side and the difference is very obvious. If anyone is wanting to pick up the old one, do it now as sizing is limited the they claim the extra 50% off ends tonight.

      Delete
    3. I can't speak for quality since I haven't seen any of the new items in person... But I like what I'm seeing in the early access. It's like a palate cleanser. I wish the two liberty print shirts that someone posted on Pinterest were in the early access because I'd probably place an order for them and a couple of other things right now (helps that I have a decent amount in rewards waiting to be spent too)
      :)

      Delete
    4. I'm not sure about the color palette, as it still seems to be black, navy, tan, and grey, but I do like a few prints. Watercolor floral is pretty, but not ready to pay $60 for a poly tank. I'll wait for super sale.

      Delete
    5. I'm not thrilled with the early access, hoping to see more in the regular rollout. If you search "pre-order", there's also more swimwear, looks like J.Crew is coming out with a lower priced mix/match swimwear collection that "shows more skin," the Playa collection. Not sure how it's that much different from their current two-piece options but the price point is much lower (one-pieces $50) so it would seem they're still trying to grab a different demographic. They had better not mess with the regular swim.

    6. Hi, Suz Has - thank you but I am (sniff) a S. XS is a wee bit too clingy for me.

Thanks to those who let me know that Factory does ship to Canada. It's not via Borderfree, is it? Does that mean that I have to worry about Canada Post asking for more money for taxes and customs? The nice thing about Borderfree is that the taxes and duties are baked into the price. Yes, the price looks high, but there are no surprises like there sometimes are with other shipments from outside Canada.

    7. it is the same as ordering J Crew retail. the only con is you can't return to Canadian facotry stores..because prices are in US $.so you have to pay for return shipping..if you do return(or return to US factor store.)
We have a factory store out by the Vancouver airport, prices are usually alittle better than online because of the exchange rate.

  44. Thanks to the JCAs who let me know that Factory does ship to Canada.

Maybe my perspective is just warped with the recent heavy discounts at J Crew, but Factory seemed surprisingly expensive to me compared to what I have been paying at J Crew. I expected the prices to be lower, and I'm finding a lot of the prices are higher for comparable items. Maybe this is only the case for Canadians because of the currency conversion issue.

What do the other JCAs think?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Toronto Modern, I agree that I've often seen higher prices at Factory versus retail Sale prices. I've bought two things from Factory, an Oxford dress for $42 and a crewcuts type suit jacket for $30 on promo. I think there is a little overlap between the brands in quality and price. Overall I find retail a better value, as a sale shopper, even with all the flops.

      Delete
    2. I don't buy from factory very often as I'm not a big fan of their overall quality. I do like their tees (the ones like the old painter tees). I try to buy in store in Canada as the prices are pretty much the same as on the cdn site but in store since they're cdn $ it's cheaper than online. Online is weird as its marked up from the US price but still in US dollars.
Retail currently has the Slub tees, I bought one long sleeve one that reminds me of the old painter tee in the texture but I found it not as slim as the painter tee was. I bought a few of the short sleeve ones and like that they're not thin.

    1. I own both the collared and star Tippis and I just took my usual Tippi sizes, which is a size bigger than my usual J. Crew sweater size. In general I find the Tippis are tighter in the arms than other J. Crew sweaters.

      Delete
    2. I haven't tried the collared Tippi yet, but I took it in the same size as my other Tippis, which is the same as my size for t-shirt knits and therefore one size larger than what I wear in just about everything else. For me, that strikes the right fitted rather than tight or loose look for me. I agree with Dmitri that I also find the arms fit tighter than for other J Crew sweaters, and I don't have big arms in the first place.

      Delete
    3. I am wearing the star tippi right now, and I also had the same one last year that I exchanged for a new one this year (the stars were unraveling and they let me do an even exchange). I took my usual JC sweater size, and I have been able to wear a cami under without it looking/being bulky. I don't like my sweaters to be skintight and my usual size seemed fine.
