  1. New Orleans is having some unusually cold weather this week, compelling me to pull out my plastic storage bin of heavy winter coats, gloves, scarves and sweaters that I haven't touched since moving here in 2015. I was delighted to find my two collection cashmere ribbed sweaters from 2012, item 14684, in navy and flax. They're so luxuriously thick and soft and fluffy. It's things like these wonderful sweaters that keep me going back to J.Crew.

    1. I live in South Florida part time and have been wearing my collection cashmere sweaters too. Been a little chilly here. I also wear the featherweight cashmere all year round even in summer whether Florida or the S of France. Love the colors. Too bad he New Everday cashmere sweaters are so so. Did purchase all of the long tunic cashmere colors which are basic and then the olive one which is quite nice. I paid ridiculously low for these. They go well with so many things leather pants, jeans, leggings etc. I wish JCRew would produce some more colors and do an early release of the feathweight line. Not too optimistic though.

    2. @Jeanne, the difference between the old and newer cashmere is immense. Glad you can still enjoy those older pieces.

  2. Loving the great sales over the last 2 weeks! Jeans and cords for under 20 dollars, dress shirts for 20, blazers for 25-35, and work out gear under 10 dollars. Fingers crossed everything ships, I still have an order from the 11th that hasn't shipped yet.

    2. The the sales have been great and so far most of my items have shipped but I agree with Unknown, it does feel like a going out of business sale.

    3. I'm praying for Jcrew to succeed and optimistically I don't think this is a going out of business sale. They said they were closing 50 stores in Jan. (so I'm guessing that's still true and not more) and are going more digital/online based.
The sales on clearance are fantastic but full price items have no promo if they were going out of business I believe there would be. In the news the articles state that the stores that are closing are not slashing prices, just having the same sale as online so I guess they'll just send leftover items to other stores or the warehouse. They are also trying new tactics ie a men's shirt that is to be worn untucked (while that sounds funny to me I guess a new business is doing well with that concept) so they are still trying to succeed at least.
A few articles mention that some of the stores closing are quite close to other Jcrew b&ms so the area just doesn't need that many b&ms in this market. Always sad for people to lose jobs so hopefully Jcrew can make improvements so no more employees will lose out.

Yes i will try to go to on of the other stores. The longer commute is the only negative i have to decide if i want to deal with that.

    7. I am so sorry to hear this Ina and hope you are able to stay on with the company somehow. I’ve been involved in a workplace closure before and it is so difficult to deal with even in the best of circumstances. You have always been so helpful to the community and me personally when I have reached out to you for assistance. Best wishes!

  3. I also love all the deals I have gotten over the past two weeks. My purchases were few the 2nd half of 2017 but I am glad I held out. I was able to get a more for less by waiting until after the holidays. I actually wish I didn't like some of the things I ordered but so far there is only one thing I want to return. Did I need another coat and fair isle sweater? Of course not but as others pointed out yesterday with the heavily discounted items and store closures in metro areas it doesn't seem like the future looks bright so I might as well stock up while I still can.

  4. I’m also really happy with my purchases during the super sale. Other big brands (NM, Barneys, BR, & AT to name a few) are also having clearance sales with discounts topping 70%.

  5. I picked up two Liberty shirts this morning, both older versions, but they were $20 and $25 each. Can't go wrong with that and I am worried J Crew is not going to be around to trying to snatch up the "old" stuff while I can.

    2. Those are fab prices. I haven't been able to get a Liberty item much under $50, though I see some now.

  7. Went to make my returns today. Madewell was 40% off sale in store but of course the boots I liked online were not there (and not available at the moment I checked online while in store).
JCrew was 50-% off sale online and in addition to the well picked over sale area, there was a table of jeans and some tops and a rack of coats.
Denim sale alert! I had been contemplating a more added pair of blue jeans since I really loved the darker ones I got this fall (and I can't remember which wash but I don't think they are on sale, but there were similar ones that are...they're all very close and they are called classic wash or something like that). Anyway, I liked the Glendale wash this fall and everyone seemed to love the lyric wash which I tried as well, but liked a little less in comparison.
Note that in store it's really difficult to tell the exact wash because it's not in the style number. Well, I found a few pairs to try and noticed some styles were thinner and stretchier, more like jeggings (dislike) and some, like the lyric wash, are more substantial. I tried my two usual sizes and although I love the fit of the larger one went with the smaller of the two because they do stretch out a little bit with wear. (I've been wearing the darker one for a few months and are just noticing a little more looseness, so it's really not too bad, but I know where they tend to stretch on me and I am better off with the smaller size.) Best part is they were reduced to about $60 and then half off, plus I used rewards...and they fit really well. I was pleased.

And if anyone follows along with my craziness, my daughter had taken a pair of my ankle boots (I didn't mind, an excuse to buy another pair) and I found a cute pair by Louise et cie, with a pearl embellished heel. They're so cute! Posted pic on IG @wearthislikethis. (PS. They are sold out everywhere but I managed to find them in my size and ordered an extra for my daughter who doesn't want them, so if anyone wants a size 9 I have them listed on Poshmark or would sell through PayPal.)

    1. Should say a more FADED pair of blue jeans, not ADDED.

  8. Love the Elsie velvet ankle wrap heels in dark pacific. Oh my... Happy as I didn't have a pair of blue/navyish any kind of shoe, and yet, so much navy has crept into my wardrobe. These will help me wear soooo much, and the look and feel is wonderful. The only drawback is the synthetic sole, which simply isn't as soft or comfortable as the old J.Crew leather soled heels. But, at least it's slightly more animal-friendly. They're beautiful. Only clothing/shoe item I am keeping so far this year.
