Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. The promo has changed and is now 50% off sale on lots of items. Their were also some pretty drastic markdowns so you may want to check the items you have purchased recently.

  2. Great promo! 50% off and code for extra 15% off that I got with one of my December orders could be applied. Forgot my #shoppingless plans for a moment. Tartan puffer vest and leopard gloves may have been ordered ;-)).

  3. Still not interested. I keep looking at the site and just feeling blah about it all. New arrivals soon? Maybe this is the universe telling me to shop my closet for a while.

  4. I'm not sure I've ever seen things marked down this much at JCrew. There are some great deals if you can find your size and a lot of things are not final sale but still included. I ordered ten items and only two were final sale. Using the 15% off on top of the sale price plus 50% off is great.

  5. Has anyone tried this years cocoon coat? I have one from two years ago and am wondering how sizing and quality compare. Thank you!

    1. I have cocoon coats from past years and one from this year. I took a size 12 in those and a size 12 in this year's coat... the fit might be a little different but the size for me was the same. The wool is definitely different with a coarser quality, but I got a good price on the pink one, so I am happy with that. I wore it for the first time a couple days ago and got compliments from a whole bunch of random strangers! :)

    2. I second what Debby said re: sizing but my only complaint about this year's is the pockets are in an awkward position and you can't easily stick your hands in them.

      Delete
    3. I agree with Debbie too, sizing is the same.
Last year’s petite 00 fit me the same as this years.
Missing are the zipper that can open at the bottom and the material feels a little different.

    4. I was too late, oh well, problem solved. Now I know for popbacks!

    5. @Debby, @Anne, @Ina, thank you so much for the help and info! I really appreciate it, I ordered the same size as my older one, hoping it ships.
@Cheritheberry, good luck for pop backs, I'm sure there'll be some.

  6. Awesome prices today with the 50% off and the 15% coupon I received with a previous order. I ordered the Lodge Coat in Speckled Boucle and the Collection tie waist skirt in Italian wool both for just $157.23.

  7. I bit; the prices on men's Ludlow pants were too good to pass up. Started with three pairs in my cart but talked myself down to one. Trying to behave and buy smarter.

  8. Dammit, I knew I shouldn't have gotten my 4 year old ready this morning and just shopped! (kidding!) My cart was nearly gone by the time I started my commute. Oh well, to be expected. I'm sure I'll find more :)

  9. I found a few goodies! Great prices this morning! Thanks for the heads up.

  10. Very good prices now. I bought a lace top, a Harlow sweater and the Cargo pants. All about $20-25 each. Can't beat those prices. Puts even H & M to shame.

    1. 😂 am I the only one who gets annoyed when I see a male partner clogging the aisles of the stores, looking bewildered/annoyed/etc? Seriously, the last place I'm bringing my husband is clothes shopping.
Granted, if you have a male partner who enjoys it, that's a different story, but mine would sooner do just about anything else.

    2. Yeah, I’ve often overheard comments like “but you don’t need another purse/sweater/whatever” from a clearly grumpy male shopping companion and I thank my lucky stars I’m not out shopping with someone like that, it would really kill the vibe! But I also rarely shop with my hubby, I learned a long time ago that it doesn’t work for us.

  12. Yeah so much for not shopping much this month. Lots of good markdowns and I had an extra 15% coupon. I picked up the paisley top, lace long sleeve top, tiered ruffle top with scalloped lace (tall), sequin tweed lady jacket, stewart plaid pj shorts and a popback of the collection leather front Pixie pants. I have them in a larger size and was having trouble parting with them even though they really don't fit. Also emailed for PAs on my previous orders. I should be done for a while.

    1. Lots of goodness in that. I debated all of the lace but really don't get much of a chance to dress up at this stage in life. Great score on the pants!! What a feeling!
p.s. I just saw your review of the velvet easy pant and am glad to read you liked them! Hope my regular size fits when they arrive.

  13. I'm annoyed I used my two 15% off codes earlier this week. Of course slmost everything I ordered is less $$$ today so I asked for a PA. Today I did order a few tall button down perfect shirts, the plaid shirt as a backup, some tissue striped turtlenecks for me and my girls, andthe new balance zip up jacket in black. Also ordered the open sweater blazer as a gift for my mom, by far the most expensive item in my order but a good value for merino and it's not final sale.

    1. Some prices are so good I did have to stop myself from buying more, including the foundry pants and camo foundry pants.

    2. I am also annoyed I used my 15% code earlier this week! Oh well prices were really good today so I shouldn't complain but I will anyway. Lol!

      Delete
    3. Suz, I am eyeing that New Balance jacket as well. What size did you order? The reviews imply it runs small.

      Delete
    4. I ordered a small. I'm usually an XS in tops (or 2) but often size up to 4 for shoulder room. I figured Small SHOULD be big enough. The only thing I ever get in a medium is a winter coat where I want room for lots of layers underneath, and all I'd wear under this is a tank.

      Delete
  14. The prices were good enough to entice me today, even though I’m very rarely willing to pay for shipping. I ordered the gold loafers in 2 sizes, the open front merino sweater, my first ever perfect shirt, and a necklace. Only the necklace was final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I emailed for a price adjustment on an order placed on Tuesday. So frustrating! Also ended up placing another order. Surprisingly almost none of it was final sale. I threw a ton of stuff in my cart and then tried to remove everything that was not a must have. I got pj pants, the Paisley silk top, ribbed cashmere turtleneck, Thomas mason tulle top, striped turtleneck sweater dress, liberty ros floral top and black watch club collar top. That means holding off on anything else for a while which honestly shouldn't be a problem but we'll see. Going to see if customer service will apply my $25 birthday coupon to the order for me since I couldn't combine on line.

    1. It's SO cute! Color doesn't work for me and I have a long torso, so I haven't tried it, but it's really a nice looking piece.

    2. Thanks, Suz! I have blonde hair, so was thinking the color may be a no go. But that price! ;)

      Delete
    3. See for me it's my skin, though I have dark hair. My middle daughter has fair ivory skin and dark blonde hair and I feel like tan and taupe work better on her than they do on me.

      Delete
    4. I’ve been wondering about that jacket too. It looks super cute.

      Delete
    5. It looks similar to a new version in army green without the fur collar. Ina tried it last week. If you don't have a long torso or would wear with high waisted items it is a great piece.

      Delete
  17. How have people found the camo foundry pants to fit? It seems like the reviews go back and forth on whether to size up or down. For what it's worth, my hips are barely bigger than my waist.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm usually a 0 with hips roughly 10 inches (ok, post holiday maybe 8 inches!) bigger than my waist. The 0 fit me and since its 💯 cotton (I think) I know over time the material would soften and stretch a little. I'm guessing if your hips and waist are about the same you'd probably have to size up for the pants to fit your waist. They are fairly high waisted.
You can see a pic from the fall if you scroll down on my IG feed, @wearthislikethis

I was tempted to buy them today because the price is so good, but then I looked at the pic and realized if any I prefer the toothpick camo pants because they're more flattering on me. They might work better for your proportions.

      Delete
    2. Hi - I am a 4/6 on top, 6 in dresses usually, 8 in most pants (due to my hips) and I fit in to a 6 in these. I think you could stick with your regular pant size and be fine - seems like some of the size up/size down is a matter of preference on fit.

I tried them on in this blog post. Hope this helps!

      Delete
    3. the good news is these pants are not showing up final sale so you could always try two sizes to see which works best :)

    4. Thanks for the help and advice, Suz and Anne! Luckily enough for me, a location near me supposedly had both the 00 and 0, and while they didn't actually have the 0 (at least not out on the floor), I ended up trying the 00 and it fit perfectly (though hoping it won't shrink the wash!), so that's what I ended up doing with :) I'm really love the nice, weighty 100% cotton fabric and the legs not being comically wide, especially with my proportions.

  18. $25.49 for Cameron pant in burgundy. And $63 for the ruffle hem 120s dress. Couldn't pass those up.

    ReplyDelete
  19. purchased:
Navy blue Dover blazer in wool $36.54
Navy blue Andover peacoat $56.94 (really wanted red but was not missing out on as I tried on in store and loved)
Tall tie-front silk top in pebble print
    Easy pant in black lace
Easy pant in black velvet (indigo sold out while shopping)
    Tall embroidered tie-front tunic
Merino V-neck sweater with drawstring sleeves

Really upset I missed the plaid puffer parka but it was 5:30 am and I was not nearly ready to check out. In retrospect, should have just gotten that and came back. Also missed out on the pink cocoon puffer, but that just hit my radar so can't complain. A few pairs of $15 and under pants sold out while I was checking out but I think that was a blessing in disguise - money saved.

    2. I tried the dress and was able to size down to a 4 in it. The length was odd though - I'm 5'8 and it hit me a few inches above the knee - I'm not a huge fan of the midcalf length. Other people who were in the store when I tried it on liked it but it wasn't for me. I felt busty in it too. I did think it looked wonderful on Alexis!

  23. I just tried my 15% coupon and it says the promo cannot be combined (even though the coupon specifies it can be stacked).
Surprising that not as many things as I thought were final sale. I picked up:
Cableknit sweater with fringe - I have been on the fence about this for awhile and it is not FS so I'm willing to give it a try.
Perfect shirt with velvet bows in navy - FS, and I saw the negative reviews but I love the Thomas Mason version I picked up last year and this will be a good alternative in a different color. And it's 14.99!! I don't mind wearing it a few times and tossing after a year or two.
Tippi sweater in "Chamonix" - also on the fence about this for while as it is a bit too cutesy for me, but also good price and not FS
Mockneck cable-knit sweater - Have been eying in stores for awhile. Picked up 1 size bigger than my usual as I anticipate wearing a cami or long sleeve Heattech under its holey-ness
Perfect shirt in Liberty® Rose floral - Not FS and I love this pattern/color combo so much. Expect will need to return because reviews indicate it runs small and from my experience I need to size up for perfect shirts. But willing to try for less than $30.
Martie in brilliant rose - Not FS and less than $18!! Will be the brightest pair of pants I own but maybe that's a good thing.

  24. Has anyone gotten a response from their PAs yet? I emailed two stylists and the general mailbox. Got auto responses that the stylists won't be in until tomorrow and haven't heard back. Of course now the items I wanted PAs on are sold out,

    1. I have gotten PAs recently on sold out items. They actually called the store and came back and said "they said it was $xx.xx yesterday when you placed your order". So maybe if you can tell them you saw it in another size in your store? I believe the store then just looks up the item and tells the phone SA what their last price was - in stock or not. Hope this helps.

      Delete
    2. I did screen shots of some of the items so hopefully that helps.

      Delete
    3. I emailed the general email box around 8 this morning and have not received a response yet. I only had one item that lowered in price and the rest I was requesting the 40 to 50 off.

      Delete
    4. I did get a response from someone helpful who, didn't seem to understand math. Shoes I ordered yesterday were marked down like $100 and instead of them costing $123 they should be closer to $60. She was only giving me the extra 10% off yesterday's price, not today's. I did respond with the correct numbers and told her I had screenshots of the items so hopefully that works.

      Delete
    5. My PA was handled last night by a different stylist who caught a few other pricing discrepancies and credited me, very helpful!

      Delete
    6. Just received an email back in regards to my PA and it was more than I thought it would be. I am guessing maybe the one coat I got was marked down again (plaid belted puffer) but I couldn't find the price yesterday as it was sold out. I am a happy camper.

  25. I was very good and only re-purchased a dress I had ordered in mid-Dec that is now $30 less! I had a whole bunch of the cropped stretch chinos in my bag for less than $18 each, both because of sizing uncertainty, and to try to get free shipping. But I couldn't bear the idea of my order coming in literally 7 different shipments! So I just asked customer service through the live chat to waive shipping on the 1 item. Easy peasy! I can usually find pants at Loft for the same price range and feel like they're a better fit so I don't feel too bad about passing the J. Crew chinos up this time. Plus the dress will count towards my 2017 spending (I'll count the return and re-buy as a PA to last year's purchase, not a new 2018 purchase). So still doing well on my mindful purchasing for this year!

  26. Hi JCAs,

Sorry, this is OT. For those who purchased the Perfect Winter Parka, could you tell me whether it would keep you warm in single digit temperatures? Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Fran,

My *personal* opinion is no, but I suppose it would depend on how long you stay outdoors, and how warm you tend to run, personally. I live in the PNW now, but am from out east, and I feel like the coat is just sufficient for me out here, where our lowest temps are generally in the 30s. I was surprised that this was J. Crew's warm coat offering, because I didn't think it was super warm. That said, when I lived out east, I would always wear a big down coat, or a gore-tex / liner combo.
Plus, a lot of the reviews on the site feel like it's sufficiently warm, so take my opinion with a grain of salt!

      Delete
    2. Thanks R! Yes, I was surprised too. I hope they'll consider making a big down coat next winter.

    1. I scored some great deals for my oldest! Each item was around $6-7 then an additional 15% off with my stackable coupon. Wish they had a puffer in the right sizes for my oldest girls. It’s the only coat I buy them because they stand the test of time, have the best colors, and keep them warm. Great score!

  29. QUESTION! Permission to purchase or not?' The red plaid pants in my size just became available. I ordered the blazer a few days ago and have no idea if it will work. Do I bite for a complete suit? I don't wear pant suits much anymore and I know the plaid is very seasonal. Do I just wear the jacket with my black pants as intended and keep it more casual? (I know, I know, I just got rid of several pant suits so I know what the practical answer is!)

    1. I saw the pants in store last night and IMHO there is something...off about them. The colors somehow look old fashioned?

      Delete
    2. I actually saw them in the store and kind of thought there was too much green and the pattern is a little large in scale. So who knows if I will even like the blazer! 😂I didn't see the blazer in person but knowing myself a funky blazer will be more wearable than pants. (Which, BTW, sold out before I ordered so I'll check for popbacks.)

      Delete
    3. I think both pieces will make fun holiday separates, but the image of them together as a suit strikes me as a novelty look, sort of like those holiday opposuits for men right now. I'm not saying that's wrong (in fact I've promised to buy my son an opposuit if he ever decides to go to prom), or that I wouldn't wear them together myself if the right opportunity presented itself, just my impression of the look. I love tartan and wish I had some dressy holiday events to justify buying some!

      Delete
    4. I returned the pants as they felt off to me as well. It was the scale of the plaid along with the green color. I thought it was red and mostly black when purchasing. I felt like I should have been an extra in Caddyshack. I think the whole suit would be overwhelming due to the scale of the plaid but the blazer would be nice if you don't mind the colors.

      Delete
    5. Lol, ok, I'll hope the blazer works and forget about the pants. And I never heard the expression "opposuits" though I've seen pics and they crack me up!!!

    6. https://www.opposuits.com/christmas-outfits/christmas-costume-suit-the-lumberjack.html
Yeah, I see what you mean. These are hysterical! Great fun for once or twice a year and poly so no worry about moth holes. (Anything flammable, however, might be an issue!)

      Delete
    7. Good idea to avoid open flame if wearing an Opposuit! I hope the blazer works for you.

      Delete
    8. I have the pants and at first also thought the colors were a bit off and almost returned. But the Cameron style really fits me perfectly and I decided to work the with colors - i ended up wearing them three times and really feeling very comfortable in them. They have a kind of mod vibe that suits me. Might break them out for valentines if we get out of this crazy east coast cold. Agree though that I can't see wearing them with the blazer - so if you like the blazer styling stick with that!

      Delete
    9. Speaking of that tartan, is there any wearability post-holiday (aside from a Scottish event?). I think certain plaids can read as kind of punky which is what I'm hoping but I don't know if I'll look silly wearing it with black leather or coated denim aside from December

      Delete
    10. My store actually had the tartan pants in my usual size. I haven't tried this style before so I wasn't sure how they'd fit. The cut just doesn't do anything for me. They're too short and I felt like the legs were too tight but sizing up would make the top loose. Anyway, if the jacket works that will be my tartan, the pants aren't right for me.

  30. Hi All! Looking for feedback on 2 items, and pictures of them on a person, if you know of any? The Dover blazer (particularly in belgian chocolate, ordered usual blazer size 2 tall) and the cropped pant in stretch chino (esp navy or rustic olive.... is the rustic olive 'muddy' in person or super small compared to other colors? ordered usual size 0T). I am overseas and ship to family in the US who then send to me, so it's effectively always final sale. I ordered both these items on super sale this week, and I'm concerned after reading mixed reviews on color and sizing.

  33. I was all set to buy some things yesterday but I just can't stomach paying $5 for shipping. So I went to select the free, in-store pickup, but once again, it said that my store was "temporarily unavailable"- as was every single store in the Chicago area. Don't promote a feature that isn't always available! It's ridiculous how much JC thinks they can jerk you around. What I found to buy wasn't worth it so I aborted the order.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It depends on the time of day you place the order. I assume each store has a limit of such pickup orders it’ll accept. When I shop 9 am or earlier I usually get my pick of stores. Anything past noon and it’s a lost cause and I have to pick ship to home. For this particular promo so many things are not final sale so I ordered a few things to try for size to get free shipping. I also hate paying for shipping.

  35. I ordered the mockneck tunic sweater in navy as it looks cozy and is wool. Also the tie-waist skirt in faille in black. Anyone have the skirt? That will be versatile for me in terms of tops and shoes.

There were so many deals on the site. I truly had to consciously resist making other purchases. I nearly ordered the washed silk tank in pink, which would be fabulous for one outfit. I couldn't think of any other ways I would want to style it, so I didn't let myself order it. Willpower.

Such good prices on the Avery shoes right now, but ones I have. I ended up returning the black velvet bow ones. The combination of color and fabrics just didn't work for me. I would love all-black Averys but not in velvet (though I like the green velvet ones). Hoping to see more of this style soon.

It seems like only recently that I went through my wardrobe, but I am due for it again. I know who you are, items lurking that I still thought I would wear but didn't...

    1. I have the black faille tie-waist skirt and it's my favorite wardrobe item right now. I wore it all through the holidays with the bow jackie sweater set from last year. I wear it to work with the black and ivory striped tissue turtleneck (or all black if I'm feeling edgy!) but replace the tie belt with a thick brown belt to go with brown heeled oxfords to make it less precious. I have also worn it with a chambray button down, tons of pearls and dark floral pumps + a burgundy lip and it was a hit.

      Delete
    2. Lauren that sounds fabulous. Your experience bodes well for me then. I had been wondering if chambray would work as well as dressy options, and it's good to hear you thought of that also- but with pearls! Love it. I recall the bow Jackie and that pairing is a smart set. Thanks for sharing!

    3. I love the skirt, bought it for an event but ultimately returned it because it wasn't quite right for the event and I wouldn't get wear out of it in my regular life. I really loved it with a fitted black turtleneck.

  36. It's not "vent" day, but I have to express my annoyance at the "final sale on, final sale off" practices. I was going to post to let people know that the Ratti diamond print skirt (regular sizes) was finally not a final sale if they could find their size. I've wanted to try it for a while, but was not willing to risk final sale, and was able to order it yesterday. But I looked today and it is now final sale. I was curious so I looked at a couple of other items that were not final sale as recently as yesterday and they have flipped to a final sale. For example, Tippi in Chamonix and Everyday Shirt in Striped Poplin. Maybe we got lucky - perhaps all the items that were not final sale were intended to be final sale and they've now fixed it?

The lesson I have to remember is that if there is something that I think I want to try (and it's not final sale), it could flip to final sale the very next day.

    1. It seems for the most part that if an item has just been marked down that day or if the item was on sale and received another cut that day, it is not listed as final sale. I do think this is because of the way their system works as you are correct, the very next day the items almost always flip to final sale. I don't know why changing the price of an item and marking it final sale need to be two separate steps but it seems to be that way. I am very glad that only one of the items I ordered the other day was listed as final sale at the time. They are all final sale as of today.

    2. Out of curiosity I just looked, and 3 of the four things I ordered on the first day of the 50% sale are now FS, whereas only one item was FS when I ordered. I would not have ordered anything if they had all been FS, as I was unsure about sizing for all items except the necklace (and I’m not about to pay $12 shipping for a necklace!).

    3. I noticed this too - the 120s ruffle hem sheath was not FS when I ordered it, but is now. It's a dress I had tried before in store so should fit and for $63 after code and coupon I may still have risked it - but glad it wasn't FS. I think I'm finding I just have to jump on things if they are a good basic when they start all these final sale games.

    4. Via chat I asked CS to waive final sale on a pair of shoes as they don't carry my size in store so I hadn't tried the style on before. Cheerfully waived by the rep.

  37. Snagged the green Daphne coat in my size in my store's clearance section for only $50! It came to $90 after 50% off. Then, I used my holiday loyalty card for an extra $25 off, plus I was able to stack with extra 15% off mailer card. I couldn't believe that I was able to find this sold out style at such a deep discount!

  38. Random topic: any white whales out there? What, if anything, are you hunting down or wish you had purchased?

    1. Fun question Sarah! I wish I had purchased the Collection Fair Isle Alpaca sweater when it was in-stock and eligible for the 40% promotion! Ditto for the Mockneck top in floral lace. And I wished I had purchased the Ruffle-neck silk top in lips print. I passed on all these items in favour of things which I thought would be more "practical" and get more use out of. And I ended up returning all of those purchases :(

I also am unsure whether or not I missed out on the Topcoat in double leopard.

    2. R, that always rankles a bit- making choices between several items and ending up not keeping the ones you went with. Meanwhile, your alternatives have sold out!

    3. I'm still looking for the retail version of the French hen scarf! I got the Factory version in viscose off eBay, but I'd love to have the original in the wool. So far, I've only seen it on eBay twice, once for an auction I didn't win, and another for a lot with another scarf, but at $30 US shipping, it wasn't worth it.

There are also a few blazers I wish I hadn't waffled on, like the Regent blazer in the green donegal tweed and the Campbell (?) blazer in that light green-blue herringbone tweed. There was a black and gold-plated headband from a few holiday seasons ago I wanted, but I was too picky about there being no scratches, so it sold out before I could just go ahead and get it.

    4. The Topcoat in double leopard has an almost full size run: 0-10, and 14 (with 1-3 of each size). It's less than $100, and not final sale. I happened to have the link open, and refreshed to see it available. I noticed you can't find it on the site otherwise at the moment. https://www.jcrew.com/p/H2734 if anyone is interested.

  39. I just realized that they don't "name" items on the website anymore! The item names are now just descriptions. How did I not notice this sooner? Was something I always kind of liked.

    1. You're right. The funny thing is that if you order from another site (i.e. Nordstrom or Net A Porter) they often do have names for the items, if not on the site, then on the packaging. I wonder why J. Crew abandoned the names!

    1. Yes. And there are two denim categories. I assume these are oversights but who knows!

    2. I first noticed Archive a few weeks ago. I don’t know the merchandise we’ll enough to know if there’s any significance to what’s in there.

    3. My initial thought was perhaps it's where the popbacks show up? I haven't played around enough with the filter to see if that holds true. It still perplexes me that there is all of this extra merchandise floating around from year's past.

  41. JC got me with the additional 50% off sale today. Very sad the Tweed Kitten Mule is not available in my size...fingers crossed for a popback!

  42. Woke up at 5 am today and did a quick sale check - 1100+ items. Spotted the leopard topcoat in regular and petite as a popback - wasn't someone looking for it? Very limited sizes though - I think it was only 10R and 00P.

    1. Hi eeps! I was definitely contemplating FOMO on this, and happened to spot it around 10:30 PST when they had a few more sizes available. And it wasn't final sale at the time, so I picked it up!
